三维拉曼边带冷却后的铯原子样品装载于一个磁悬浮的大体积交叉光学偶极阱中, 继续加载一个小体积的光学偶极阱后, 实现了Dimple光学偶极阱对铯原子的高效装载. 对不同磁场下磁悬浮大体积光阱的有效装载势能进行理论分析与实验测量, 得出最优化的梯度磁场和均匀偏置磁场, 获得了基于磁悬浮大体积光阱的Dimple光学偶极阱的装载势能曲线, 实现了Dimple光学偶极阱对经拉曼边带冷却后俘获在磁悬浮的大体积光阱中的铯原子样品的有效装载. 比较了Dimple光学偶极阱分别从拉曼边带冷却、大体积的交叉光阱和消除反俘获势后的磁悬浮大体积光阱装载的结果, 将俘获在磁悬浮大体积光阱中的铯原子样品装载到Dimple光学偶极阱, 铯原子样品的密度提高了约15倍.  相似文献

We report the results of trap depth calculations based on the semiclassical theory of interaction of light field with atom in magneto-optical trap (MOT). In our model of magneto-optical trap we take into account Zeeman shift of ground and excited states in local magnetic field and only Doppler cooling force are considered. The calculated trap depth has been compared with value of trap depth estimated from experimental results for 7Li.  相似文献

The high precision calibration of optical trap stiffness is the foundation of the weak force measurement in an optical tweezers system. And the accuracy of the trap stiffness measurement is limited by the bandwidth of the acquisition system. In this article, such an influence is analyzed and discussed. The stiffness measuring process using an acquisition system with a finite acquisition time is numerically simulated by using Monte-Carlo method. Then the simulated results are analyzed by thermal motion analysis method to deduce the trap stiffness for different trapping system and for measuring systems with different acquisition time. As a comparison the power spectrum analysis method is used to study the thermal motion of the bead and to compute the trap stiffness for the same acquisition system, from which it is concluded that the bandwidth of the acquisition system is determined by its acquisition time, not the sampling frequency. The influence of the finite acquisition time or the limited bandwidth on the trap stiffness measurement is discussed. The numerical simulation shows that the measured position, which is here the average position within the acquisition time, shifts to the trap center due to the trapping force, which gives an alternative interpretation for the deviation of the measured stiffness from the true trap stiffness.  相似文献

A numerical model for the current conduction in single-layer organic light-emitting devices is established under the basis of trapped charge-limited conduction with an exponential trap distribution. The dependences of the current density on the operation voltage, the thickness of the organic layer, and the trap properties are numerically studied. The current density decreases nearly exponentially with the thickness of the organic layer and the relative trap depth (l), and it is inversely proportional to the lth power of the total trap density. Loading a dipole trap from an atomic reservoir is considered to be an efficient method for the preparation of trapped atoms at high density, which has led to notable results for the case of Rb and Cr atoms. It was also theoretically predicted to provide efficient loading also in the cesium case. In this article, we report on the experimental study of the loading of a single-arm and of a crossed dipole trap for cesium atoms. This study is performed by comparing several types of reservoirs from which the atoms are loaded: a magnetic trap, a Dark-SPOT and a compressed MOT. In all cases the number of atoms is found to decrease shortly after the beginning of the loading process. A few possible phenomena leading to such a behavior, namely the limited reservoir lifetime and/or a possible heating in the reservoir, are discussed. The loading dynamics is fitted by a phenomenological rate equation. From an experimental point of view, the reservoir loading method can be considered efficient in terms of number of transferred atoms for the single arm dipole trap. On the contrary, it does not seem to provide, for the case of cesium atoms in a crossed dipole trap, an attractive alternative in comparison with existing loading methods such as Raman sideband cooling.  相似文献

Approximately one million antiprotons have been captured in a large Penning trap at the Low Energy Antiproton Ring at CERN. These antiprotons have subsequently been cooled by electron cooling. This has opened new discussions of the possible use of ultra-low energy antiprotons for nuclear, atomic, and gravitational physics. For most of these experiments, it will be necessary to extract the antiprotons from the trap in a continuous or bunched beam, allowing the timing structure to be used for post-acceleration schemes or as a time tag for the subsequent measurements. We have designed an extraction scheme to accomplish this and have tested portions of it using a smaller Penning trap loaded with protons. First results in generating a time-correlated beam of particles from a Penning trap are presented.  相似文献

We study a family of equivalent continuum models in one dimension. All these models map onto a single equation and include simple chemical reactions, diffusion in presence of a trap or a source and an ideal polymer chain near an attractive or repulsive site. We have obtained analytical results for the survival probability, total growth rate, statistical properties of nearest-neighbour distribution between a trap and unreacted particle and mean-squared displacement of the polymer chain. Our results are compared with the known asymptotic results in the theory of discrete random walks on a lattice in presence of a defect.  相似文献

We investigate minimal energy solutions with vortices for an interacting Bose-Einstein condensate in a rotating trap. The atoms are strongly confined along the axis of rotation z, leading to an effective 2D situation in the x-y plane. We first use a simple numerical algorithm converging to local minima of energy. Inspired by the numerical results we present a variational ansatz in the regime where the interaction energy per particle is stronger than the quantum of vibration in the harmonic trap in the x-y plane, the so-called Thomas-Fermi regime. This ansatz allows an easy calculation of the energy of the vortices as function of the rotation frequency of the trap; it gives a physical understanding of the stabilisation of vortices by rotation of the trap and of the spatial arrangement of vortex cores. We also present analytical results concerning the possibility of detecting vortices by a time-of-flight measurement or by interference effects. In atomic dynamics,oscillation along different axes can be studied separately in the harmonic trap. When the trap is not harmonic, motion in different directions may couple together. In this work, we observe a twodimensional oscillation by exciting atoms in one direction, where the atoms are transferred to an anharmonic region. Theoretical calculations are coincident to the experimental results. These oscillations in two dimensions not only can be used to measure trap parameters but also have potential applications in atomic interferometry and precise measurements.  相似文献

We analyze the tine development of the fluorescence from trapping centers following pulsed, broad-band excitation of the donor ions. We obtain exact results for the trap excitation probability at arbitrary trap concentration for two cases: the rapid donor-donor transfer limit where all traps have an equal probability of being excited and in the case where there is no donor-donor transfer, the excitation being transferred directly to the traps. The phase-space method is used to evaluate the mass-selective ion confinement properties of the radio-frequency (rf) quadrupole ion trap with phase-synchronized switching-on of the driving rf field for pulsed ion injection from an external source. The results are of interest for on-line investigations of both short-lived isotopes and stable highly charged ions. In particular, singly charged ions with an energy of 10 eV and a mass in the neighborhood of 100 amu, injected along the gap or through an aperture on one of the electrodes, are considered. Mass-selective storage of the injected ions is possible for any trap operation point within the stability region by allowing a field-free drift distance before ion injection. It is shown that after appropriate scaling the results apply to the trapping of any pulsed beam of charged particles.  相似文献

The limitation to the density of an ion cloud confined in a Penning trap is not well understood till now. Our experiments show that this limitation results from the combined effect of the trap asymmetry and the space charge. A new isokinetic vertical sand trap is designed in this work, and the new trap has an advantage that airflows in all sampling tubes at different height can simultaneously approach the isokinetic state. The stagnant effect and vertical sand mass flux are experimentally investigated in a wind tunnel. Compared with the traditional passive sand trap, the new design greatly reduces the stagnant effect, and has higher efficiency at different heights and wind speeds. The results obtained in this Letter also show the stagnant effect of the sand trap not only changes the total efficiency of the sand collection, but also the distribution of the vertical sand flux. The new isokinetic sand trap has good performance and can be applied to study the sand flux in aeolian sand transport.  相似文献

The stability of Bose--Einstein condensates (BECs) loaded into a two-dimensional shallow harmonic potential well is studied. By using the variational method, the ground state properties for interacting BECs in the shallow trap are discussed. It is shown that the possible stable bound state can exist. The depth of the shallow well plays an important role in stabilizing the BECs. The stability of BECs in the shallow trap with the periodic modulating of atom interaction by using the Feshbach resonance is also discussed. The results show that the collapse and diffusion of BECs in a shallow trap can be controlled by the temporal modulation of the scattering length.  相似文献

We report the construction of an optical tweezers system and the results of the trapping and the moving of living algal cells. Experimental study on trapping polystyrene spheres demonstrates the effects of the system parameters on the trap. The trapping forces on dielectric spheres are calculated using Ashkin's ray-optics model. The result shows that an objective with higher numerical aperture can build a more stable trap along axial direction than an objective with lower numerical aperture, though their transverse trapping forces are on the same order.  相似文献

The impacts of remote Coulomb scattering(RCS)on hole mobility in ultra-thin body silicon-on-insulator(UTB SOI)p-MOSFETs at cryogenic temperatures are investigated.The physical models including phonon scattering,surface roughness scattering,and remote Coulomb scatterings are considered,and the results are verified by the experimental results at different temperatures for both bulk(from 300 K to 30 K)and UTB SOI(300 K and 25 K)p-MOSFETs.The impacts of the interfacial trap charges at both front and bottom interfaces on the hole mobility are mainly evaluated for the UTB SOI p-MOSFETs at liquid helium temperature(4.2 K).The results reveal that as the temperature decreases,the RCS due to the interfacial trap charges plays an important role in the hole mobility.  相似文献

We describe a laser-cooling experiment on Mg+ ions confined in an electromagnetic trap (Penning trap or rf trap) and give the preliminary experimental results. We analytically and numerically discuss the stability and dynamics of neutral atoms in a two-dimensional optical lattice subjected to an additional harmonic trap potential and artificial magnetic field. The harmonic trap potential plays a key role in modifying the equilibrium state properties of the system and stabilizing the cyclotron orbits of the condensate.Meanwhile, the presence of the harmonic trap potential and lattice potential results in rich cyclotron dynamics of the condensate. The coupling effects of lattice potential, artificial magnetic field, and harmonic trap potential lead to single periodic, multi-periodic or quasi-periodic cyclotron orbits of the condensate. So we can control the cyclotron dynamics of neutral atoms in optical lattice by manipulating the strength of harmonic confinement, artificial magnetic field, and initial conditions. Our results provide a direct theoretical evidence for the cyclotron dynamics of neutral atoms in optical lattices exposed to the artificial gauge magnetic field and harmonic trap potential.  相似文献
