LetV be a finite dimensional complex linear space and letG be a compact subgroup of GL(V). We prove that an orbitG, V, is polynomially convex if and only ifG is closed andG is the real form ofG . For every orbitG which is not polynomially convex we construct an analytic annulus or strip inG with the boundary inG. It is also proved that the group of holomorphic automorphisms ofG which commute withG acts transitively on the set of polynomially convexG-orbits. Further, an analog of the Kempf-Ness criterion is obtained and homogeneous spaces of compact Lie groups which admit only polynomially convex equivariant embeddings are characterized.Supported by Federal program Integratsiya, no. 586.Supported by INTAS grant 97/10170.  相似文献

One main result of this article is a characterization of all(G 1) as topological algebras withG 1 open in. For this and for similar results of Arens [4], Carpenter [6] and Brooks [5] Runge's approximation theorem is an important tool. It is extended to a characterization of all (G), whereG is a polynomially convex, open subset of a m .There is stated a similar characterization of allC(G) withG open in a m ,which is based on approximation by polynomials in theZ j . and . A second main result is a characterization of allC(M),whereM is a paracompact manifold of even dimension and which proceeds from ideas in the article [3]. MoreoverC(P 1()) is characterized as a top. algebra. All these characterizations base upon the theory of the Gelfand representation of seminormed-algebras.  相似文献

We find a regular deformation retraction n,r (K): Idem n,r (K) G n,r (K) from the manifold Idem n,r (K) of idempotent n × n matrices with rank r to the Grassmannian manifold G n,r (K) over K the reals, complex numbers or quaternions. Then we derive an injection from the sets of homotopy classes of complex-valued polynomial to such a set of real-valued regular maps, where denotes the Zariski closure in the affine space n of a subset n . Furthermore, we list complex-valued polynomial maps 2 2 of any Brouwer degree and deduce that the map ()2,1: Idem()2,1 G()2,1 yields an isomorphism [ 2 ] [ 2, 2] of cyclic infinite homotopy groups. Finally, we show that every nonzero even Brouwer degree of the spheres n and n cannot be realized by a real-valued (resp. complex-valued) homogeneous polynomial map provided that n is even.  相似文献

Let the functionQ be holomorphic in he upper half plane + and such that ImQ(z 0 and ImzQ(z) 0 ifz +. A basic result of M.G. Krein states that these functionsQ are the principal Titchmarsh-Weyl coefficiens of a (regular or singular) stringS[L,m] with a (non-decreasing) mass distribution functionm on some interval [0,L) with a free left endpoint 0. This string corresponds to the eigenvalue problemdf + fdm = 0; f(0–) = 0. In this note we show that the set of functionsQ which are holomorphic in + and such that the kernel has negative squares of + and ImzQ(z) 0 ifz + is the principal Titchmarsh-Weyl coefficient of a generalized string, which is described by the eigenvalue problemdf +f dm + 2 fdD = 0 on [0,L),f(0–) = 0. Here is the number of pointsx whereD increases or 0 >m(x + 0) –m(x – 0) –; outside of these pointsx the functionm is locally non-decreasing and the functionD is constant. To the memory of M.G. Summary LetG be a separable locally compact group with dual space. consists of all equivalence classes of irreducible unitary representations ofG, and is endowed with the Fell-topology. We study the topological properties in of the square-integrable representations ofG. [ is square-integrable provided there is a coordinate functiong((g)v, v),gG, for which is inL 2(G) w.r.t. left Haar measure onG.]SupposeG contains an open normal subgroupN of the formeKN n e whereK is compact. (All groups with a compact invariant neighborhood of the identity, [IN] groups, satisfy this condition.) In this case we show that if is square-integrable then {} is an open point of.Finally, our techniques are used to prove this result for arbitrary (non connected) nilpotent Lie groups.  相似文献

The non-commutative torus C *(n,) is realized as the C*-algebra of sections of a locally trivial C*-algebra bundle over S with fibres isomorphic to C *n/S, 1) for a totally skew multiplier 1 on n/S. D. Poguntke [9] proved that A is stably isomorphic to C(S) C(*( Zn/S, 1) C(S) A Mkl( C) for a simple non-commutative torus A and an integer kl. It is well-known that a stable isomorphism of two separable C*-algebras is equivalent to the existence of equivalence bimodule between them. We construct an A-C(S) A-equivalence bimodule.  相似文献

There is a natural duality between orbits of a real form G of a complex semisimple group G on a homogeneous rational manifold Z=G /P and those of the complexification K of any of its maximal compact subgroups K: (,) is a dual pair if is a K-orbit. The cycle space C() is defined to be the connected component containing the identity of the interior of {g:g() is non-empty and compact}. Using methods which were recently developed for the case of open G-orbits, geometric properties of cycles are proved, and it is shown that C() is contained in a domain defined by incidence geometry. In the non-Hermitian case this is a key ingredient for proving that C() is a certain explicitly computable universal domain.Research of the first author partially supported by Schwerpunkt Global methods in complex geometry and SFB-237 of the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft. The second author was supported by a stipend of the Deutsche Akademische Austauschdienst.  相似文献

Summary LetGG be real reductive Lie groups and q a -stable parabolic subalgebra of Lie (G) . This paper offers a sufficient condition on (G, G, q) that the irreducible unitary representation ofG with non-zero continuous cohomology splits into a discrete sum of irreducible unitary representations of a subgroupG, each of finite multiplicity. As an application to purely analytic problems, new results on discrete series are also obtained for some pseudo-Riemannian (non-symmetric) spherical homogeneous spaces, which fit nicely into this framework. Some explicit examples of a decomposition formula are also found in the cases whereA q is not necessarily a highest weight module.Oblatum 3-IV-1993The author is supported by the NSF grant DMS-9100383.  相似文献

The Factorization Problem and the Smash Biproduct of Algebras and Coalgebras   总被引:12,自引:0,他引:12
We consider the factorization problem for bialgebras. Let L and H be algebras and coalgebras (but not necessarily bialgebras) and consider two maps R : H L L H and W : L H H L. We introduce a product K = L W R H and we give necessary and sufficient conditions for K to be a bialgebra. Our construction generalizes products introduced by Majid and Radford. Also, some of the pointed Hopf algebras that were recently constructed by Beattie, Dsclescu and Grünenfelder appear as special cases.  相似文献

The ordered K0-group of the universal, unital free product C*-algebra Mk()*Ml()is calculated in the case where k is prime and not a divisor in l. It is shown that the positive cone of K0(Mk()*Ml())is as small as possible in this case. The article also contains results (full and partial) on the ordered K00-group of more general universal, unital free product C* algebras.  相似文献

LetX be a complex connected projective smooth algebraic surface and letL be an ample line bundle onX. The maps associated with the pluriadjoint bundles (K X L) 1,t2, are studied by combining an ampleness result forK X L with a very recent result by Reider. It turns out that apart from some exceptions and up to reductions, 1) (K X L)3 is very ample; 2) (K X L) 2 is ample and spanned by global sections and is very ample unless eitherg (L)=2 (arithmetic genus ofL) orX contains an elliptic curveE withE 2=0,E·L=1;3) when (K X L) 2 is not very ample, the associated map has degree 4, equality implying thatg (L)=2 and .  相似文献

The cohomology H* (G/,) of the de Rham complex *(G/) of a compact solvmanifold G/ with deformed differential d = d + , where is a closed 1 -form, is studied. Such cohomologies naturally arise in Morse-Novikov theory. It is shown that, for any completely solvable Lie group G containing a cocompact lattice G, the cohomology H*(G/, ) is isomorphic to the cohomology H*( ) of the tangent Lie algebra of the group G with coefficients in the one-dimensional representation : defined by () = (). Moreover, the cohomology H *(G/,) is nontrivial if and only if -[] belongs to a finite subset of H 1(G/,) defined in terms of the Lie algebra .Translated from Matematicheskie Zametki, vol. 77, no. 1, 2005, pp. 67–79.Original Russian Text Copyright © 2005 by D. In this paper we establish two results concerning algebraic (,+)-actions on n . First, let be an algebraic (,+)-action on 3. By a result of Miyanishi, its ring of invariants is isomorphic to [t 1,t 2]. Iff 1,f 2 generate this ring, the quotient map of is the mapF:32,x(f 1(x), f2(x)). By using some topological arguments we prove thatF is always surjective. Secon, we are interested in dominant polynomial mapsF: n n-1 whose connected components of their generic fibers are contractible. For such maps, we prove the existence of an algebraic (,+)-action on n for whichF is invariant. Moreover we give some conditions so thatF*([t 1,...,t n-1 ]) is the ring of invariants of .Dedicated to all my friends and my family  相似文献

We generalize the Atiyah-Segal completion theorem to C *-algebras as follows. Let A be a C *-algebra with a continuous action of the compact Lie group G. If K * G (A) is finitely generated as an R(G)-module, or under other suitable restrictions, then the I(G)-adic completion K * G (A) is isomorphic to RK *([A C(EG)]G), where RK * is representable K-theory for - C *-algebras and EG is a classifying space for G. As a corollary, we show that if and are homotopic actions of G, and if K *(C * (G,A,)) and K *(C * (G,A,)) are finitely generated, then K *(C *(G,A,))K*(C * (G,A,)). We give examples to show that this isomorphism fails without the completions. However, we prove that this isomorphism does hold without the completions if the homotopy is required to be norm continuous. This work was partially supported by an NSF Graduate Fellowship and by an NSF Postdoctoral Fellowship.  相似文献

It is known that for every finite subgroup G of SL(2,), the invariant subring [X,Y]G is a hyper-surface. In this note we treat finite subgroups of SL(3,) and give complete classification of the finite subgroups of SL(3,) whose invariant subrings are complete intersections.  相似文献

LetG be a (not necessarily connected) real Lie group with reductive Lie algebra. We consider representations ofG which some call admissible but we call them of Harish-Chandra type. We show that any nontempered irreducible Harish-Chandra type representation ofG is infinitesimally equivalent to the Langlands quotient obtained from an essentially unique triple (M, V, ) of Langlands data; while for tempered irreducible Harish-Chandra type representations we prove they are infinitesimally subrepresentations of some induced representations UV, with imaginary and withV from the quasi-discrete series of a suitableM (perhapsG=M; we define the quasi-discrete series in Definition 4.5 of this paper. We show that irreducible continuous unitary representations of really reductive groups are of Harish-Chandra type. Then the results above yield the canonical decomposition of the unitary spectrum>G for any really reductiveG. In particular, this holds ifG/G 0 is finite, so the center of the connected semi-simple subgroup with Lie algebra [g, g] may be infinite!Research supported, in part, by the Hungarian National Fund for Scientific Research (grant Nos. 1900 and 2648).  相似文献

In this paper we begin to study 3-folds in a projective space of dimension 5. Using results from [9] we give a classification of all 3-folds in 5 , up to degree 6. There are only 3 different types of 3-folds in 5 of degree 6 which are not complete intersections. These manifolds can be represented as zero schemes of sections in certain (extremal) semistable reflexive sheaves of rank 2 on 5 . Finally we obtain examples of stable reflexive sheaves on 5 with homologieal dimension 1, which do not belong to the extremal sheaves [10].
