We report on the novel ternary hybrid materials consisting of semiconductor (TiO2), metal (Ag) and polymer (poly(oxyethylene methacrylate) (POEM)). First, a hydrophilic polymer, i.e. POEM, was grafted from TiO2 nanoparticles via the surface-initiated atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) technique. These TiO2-POEM brush nanoparticles were used to template the formation of Ag nanoparticles by introduction of a AgCF3SO3 precursor and a NaBH4 aqueous solution for reduction process. Successful grafting of polymeric chains from the surface of TiO2 nanoparticles and the in situ formation of Ag nanoparticles within the polymeric chains were confirmed using transmission electron microscopy (TEM), UV-vis spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). FT-IR spectroscopy also revealed the specific interaction of Ag nanoparticles with the CO groups of POEM brushes. This study presents a simple route for the in situ synthesis of both metal and polymer confined within the semiconductor, producing ternary hybrid inorganic-organic nanomaterials.  相似文献

The poly(poly(ethylene glycol) methyl ether monomethacrylate) (PPEGMA) grafted zinc oxide (ZnO) nanoparticles were successfully prepared via the surface-initiated atom transfer radical polymerizations (ATRP) from the surfaces functionalized ZnO nanoparticles. The 2-bromoisobutyrate (BIB) was immobilized onto the surface of the ZnO nanoparticles through the reaction between 2-bromoisobutyryl bromide (BIBB) and the hydroxyl groups on nanoparticles, serving as the initiator to induce the ATRP of poly(ethylene glycol) monomethacrylate (PEGMA). Well-defined polymer chains were grown from the surfaces to yield hybrid nanoparticles comprised of ZnO cores and PPEGMA polymer shells having multifunctional end groups. The structure and morphology of the nanoparticles were characterized using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The optical properties of the nanoparticles were investigated by UV-vis absorption spectroscopy and photoluminescence spectroscopy (PL). The results showed that the dispersion and near-band edge (NBE) emission of ZnO nanoparticles could be improved by the grafted PPEGMA polymer segments.  相似文献

The nanoparticles of TiO2 modified with carbon and iron were synthesized by sol-gel followed solvothermal method at low temperature. Its chemical composition and optical absorption were investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), photoluminescence emission spectroscopy (PL), UV-vis absorption spectroscopy, and electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR). It was found that carbon and iron modification causes the absorption edge of TiO2 to shift the visible light region. Fe(III) cation could be doped into the matrix of TiO2, by which could hinder the recombination rate of excited electrons/holes. Superior photocatalytic activity of TiO2 modified with carbon and iron was observed for the decomposition of acid orange 7 (AO7) under visible light irradiation. The synergistic effects of carbon and iron in modified TiO2 nanoparticles were responsible for improving visible light photocatalytic activity.  相似文献

In the preparation of nanocomposites, there is competition between the dispersion of nanoparticles and the formation of agglomerates. In this study, radical copolymerization of ethyl acrylate and methyl methacrylate initiated by 2,2‐azobis (isobutyro) nitrile (AIBN) was performed, in the presence of titanium oxide (TiO2) nanoparticles modified in a new approach; a good dispersion of the nanoparticles in the unsaturated polyester (UP) matrix was obtained. The TiO2 nanoparticles were exposed to 3‐(methacryloxy) propyl trimethoxy silane as the coupling agent. The presence of coupling agent‐grafted TiO2 nanoparticles in the copolymerization process resulted in the formation of a polymeric layer on the surface of the TiO2 nanoparticles (doubly modified‐TiO2). The grafting of coupling agent molecules and consequently copolymer macromolecular chains onto the surface of TiO2 nanoparticles was investigated using Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) analysis. It found that the formation of an acrylate layer on the surface of nanoparticles was successful. Then, unsaturated polyester (UP)/TiO2 nanocomposites were prepared. The morphology was studied using transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Mechanical properties and ultraviolet visible (UV/VIS) spectroscopy of various samples, including the doubly modified‐TiO2 nanoparticles, with different nanoparticle inclusions and the unmodified‐TiO2 nanoparticles, were also investigated. The results showed the doubly modified‐TiO2 nanoparticles, compared to those of unmodified‐TiO2, had better nanoparticle dispersion causing improvement in the mechanical properties and UV shielding.  相似文献

In the present work, poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA)/organically modified montmorillonite (O-MMT) composite microfibers were firstly prepared by emulsion polymerization combined with electrospinning, and then coated by nanosize titanium dioxide (TiO2) using RF magnetron sputter technique. The modified surfaces of PMMA/O-MMT composite microfibers were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), scanning electron microscope (SEM), transmission electron microscope (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), UV-vis spectroscopy and drop shape analyzer. Finally, the photocatalytic properties of TiO2 coated PMMA/O-MMT composite microfiber membranes were evaluated by degradation of methylene blue(MB) under UV illumination. The experimental results revealed that anatase-TiO2 and rutile-TiO2 nanoparticles were well spread and physically deposited on the surface of PMMA/O-MMT microfibers, and the wettability of the PMMA/O-MMT composite microfibers was improved after surface modification by sputter coating. Furthermore, the PMMA/O-MMT microfibers membrane coated with TiO2 performed well in photocatalytic degradation of MB.  相似文献

An amorphous acrylic acid (AA) polymer coating was generated on TiO2 nanoparticles through pulse radio frequency (RF) plasma polymerization. The AA plasma synthesis mechanism was studied by its optical emission spectrum. The chemical structures of AA–plasma‐polymer were carefully investigated by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). The dispersion behaviors of AA‐coated and uncoated TiO2 nanoparticles in glycol solution were characterized by ultraviolet absorbency and particle size distribution measurements. The results showed that the aggregation of TiO2 nanoparticles in glycol solution was effectively lowered and the dispersion was improved a lot after AA–plasma‐polymer coating. The pulse plasma coating parameters played an important role in the dispersion enhancement of TiO2 nanoparticles. By properly regulating the pulse discharge parameters, the system could gain the highest radical–monomer reactions rate, the most compatible functional groups on the nanoparticles, and the best dispersion in the background media.  相似文献

In order to get photocatalysts with desired morphologies and enhanced visible light responses, the Fe-doped TiO2 nanorod clusters and monodispersed nanoparticles were prepared by modified hydrothermal and solvothermal method, respectively. The microstructures and morphologies of TiO2 crystals can be controlled by restraining the hydrolytic reaction rates. The Fe-doped photocatalysts were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), UV-vis absorption spectroscopy (UV-vis), N2 adsorption-desorption measurement (BET), and photoluminescence spectroscopy (PL). The refinements of the microstructures and morphologies result in the enhancement of the specific surface areas. The Fe3+-dopants in TiO2 lattices not only lead to the significantly extending of the optical responses from UV to visible region but also diminish the recombination rates of the electrons and holes. The photocatalytic activities were evaluated by photocatalytic decomposition of formaldehyde in air under visible light illumination. Compared with P25 (TiO2) and N-doped TiO2 nanoparticles, the Fe-doped photocatalysts show high photocatalytic activities under visible light.  相似文献

Studies were performed on surface modification of antibacterial TiO2/Ag+ nanoparticles by grafting γ-aminopropyltriethoxysilane (APS). The interfacial structure of the modified particles was characterized by Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy and thermogravimetric analysis. The thickness of the surface layer was determined by using Auger electron spectroscopy (AES). The results show that APS is chemically bonded to the surface of antibacterial TiO2/Ag+ nanoparticles. Furthermore, the modified particles were mixed in PVC to prepare composites whose antibacterial property was investigated. The results suggest that surface modification has no negative effect on antibacterial activity of TiO2/Ag+ nanoparticles and PVC-TiO2/Ag+ composites exhibits good antibacterial property.  相似文献

Poly(hydroethyl acrylate) (PHEA) was grafted from ZnO nanoparticles via the copper-mediated surface-initiated atom transfer radical polymerization (SI-ATRP) technique with the bromo-acetamide modified ZnO nanoparticles (BrA-ZnO) as macroinitiators with the catalysts of 1,10-phenanthroline and Cu(I)Br in water. Graft reaction was first order kinetic with respect to the polymerizing time in the low monomer conversion stage, this being typical for ATRP. A percentage of grafting (PG%) of 62.4% was achieved in 12 h, calculated from the elemental analysis results. The product, poly(hydroethyl acrylate) grafted ZnO nanoparticles (PHEA-ZnO) were also characterized with Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), UV–vis spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM).  相似文献

Poly(N-methyl pyrrole) coating was successfully electrodeposited on steel substrates in mixed electrolytes of dodecyl benzene sulphonic acid (DBSA) with oxalic acid in the absence and the presence of TiO2 nanoparticles (NPs). The morphology and compositions were characterized by Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy (FESEM), Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), Energy-Dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX). X-ray Diffraction (XRD) and Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) were used to calculate the size of nanoparticles. Electrode/polymer/electrolyte system was studied by Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS). The FESEM micrographs suggest that the incorporation of TiO2 nanoparticles affects the morphology of the film significantly and makes the TiO2 to be loosely piled up with PMPy. The results of EIS showed that synthesized PMPy in the presence of TiO2 NPs increases and decreases the Rpo and Cc of the coating respectively. The increase of the area of synthesized PMPy in the presence of nanoparticles can increase its ability to interact with the ions liberated during the corrosion reaction of steel in NaCl solution.  相似文献

A versatile method was developed for the chain-end functionalization of the grafted polymer chains for surface modification of nanoparticles with functionalized groups through a combination of surface-initiated atom-transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) and Huisgen [3 + 2] cycloaddition. First, the surface of SiO2 nanoparticles was modified with poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) brushes via the “grafting from” approach. The terminal bromides of PMMA-grafted SiO2 nanoparticles were then transformed into an azide function by nucleophilic substitution. These azido-terminated PMMA brushes on the nanoparticle surface were reacted with alkyne-terminated functional end group via Huisgen [3 + 2] cycloaddition. FTIR and 1H NMR spectra indicated quantitative transformation of the chain ends of PMMA brushes onto SiO2 nanoparticles into the desired functional group. And, the dispersibility of the end-functional polymer-grafted SiO2 nanoparticles was investigated with a transmission electron microscope (TEM).  相似文献

Titanium dioxide (TiO2) nanoparticles were modified with poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) to improve the dispersion stability of the nanoparticles in a dielectric medium and to reduce the density mismatch between TiO2 and a dielectric medium for a microcapsule‐type electrophoretic display application. Nanoparticles were coated with PMMA by in situ dispersion polymerization. The PMMA‐coated TiO2 nanoparticles were characterized by fourier transform‐infrared spectrometrey (FT‐IR), electrophoretic light scattering (ELS), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Density of PMMA‐coated TiO2 nanoparticles was found to be dependent on the thickness of the PMMA coating on the nanoparticles. An increase of thermal stability of the PMMA layer and the contents of PMMA on the surface of the nanoparticles were measured via thermogravimetric analysis (TGA).  相似文献

In this study, the surface of TiO2 nanoparticles was modified through plasma polymerization, which is a dry coating method at room temperature. The surface morphology of TiO2 nanoparticles was characterized by high-resolution transmission electron microscope (HRTEM). The dispersion behavior of TiO2 nanoparticles in water and ethyl glycol was investigated by laser size distribution and ultraviolet–visible absorption spectrum. TiO2 nanoparticles were coated with a thin film through plasma polymerization, which prevents the agglomeration and improves the dispersion behavior of TiO2 nanoparticles.  相似文献

Halloysite nanotubes (HNTs) grafted hyperbranched polymers were prepared by the self-condensing vinyl polymerization (SCVP) of 2-((bromoacetyl)oxy)ethyl acrylate (BAEA) and the self-condensing vinyl copolymerization of n-butyl acrylate (BA) and BAEA with BAEA as inimer (AB*) respectively, from the surfaces of the 2-bromoisobutyric acid modified halloysite nanotubes (HNTs-Br) via atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) technique. The halloysite nanotubes grafted hyperbranched polymer (HNTs-HP) and the halloysite nanotubes grafted hyperbranched copolymer (HNTs-HCP) were characterized by elemental analysis (EA), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and transmission electron microscope (TEM). The grafted hyperbranched polymers were characterized with Nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and the molecular ratio between the inimer AB* and BA in the grafted hyperbranched copolymers was found to be 3:2, calculated from the TGA and EA results.  相似文献

In this study, polyurethane/titania (PU/TiO2) nanocomposites were prepared in ultrasonic process and characterized by fourier transform IR spectroscopy (FT-IR), powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and infrared emissivity analysis. The TEM and SEM results indicated that the nanoparticles were dispersed homogeneously in PU matrix on nanoscale. TGA-DSC confirmed that the heat stability of the composite was improved. Infrared emissivity study showed that the nanocomposite possessed lower emissivity value than those values of pure polymer and nanoparticles.  相似文献

TiO2 sol-gels with various Ag/TiO2 molar ratios from 0 to 0.9% were used to fabricate silver-modified nano-structured TiO2 thin films using a layer-by-layer dip-coating (LLDC) technique. This technique allows obtaining TiO2 nano-structured thin films with a silver hierarchical configuration. The coating of pure TiO2 sol-gel and Ag-modified sol-gel was marked as T and A, respectively. According to the coating order and the nature of the TiO2 sol-gel, four types of the TiO2 thin films were constructed, and marked as AT (bottom layer was Ag modified, surface layer was pure TiO2), TA (bottom layer was pure TiO2, surface layer was Ag modified), TT (pure TiO2 thin film) and AA (TiO2 thin film was uniformly Ag modified). These thin films were characterized by means of linear sweep voltammetry (LSV), X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and transient photocurrent (Iph). LSV confirmed the existence of Ag0 state in the TiO2 thin film. SEM and XRD experiments indicated that the sizes of the TiO2 nanoparticles of the resulting films were in the order of TT > AT > TA > AA, suggesting the gradient Ag distribution in the films. The SEM and XRD results also confirmed that Ag had an inhibition effect on the size growth of anatase nanoparticles. Photocatalytic activities of the resulting thin films were also evaluated in the photocatalytic degradation process of methyl orange. The preliminary results demonstrated the sequence of the photocatalytic activity of the resulting films was AT > TA > AA > TT. This suggested that the silver hierarchical configuration can be used to improve the photocatalytic activity of TiO2 thin film.  相似文献

Titanium dioxide (TiO2) films were prepared on poly(dimethylsiloxane) (PDMS) substrate by direct current (DC) reactive sputtering to change surface physical properties of PDMS. The effects of the changes were investigated by using X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) analysis, water contact angle measurements and protein adsorption tests. Improved wettability and reduced adsorption properties were observed on PDMS surface coated TiO2 films.  相似文献

The surface of α-alumina (Al2O3) nanoparticles was first modified with γ-aminopropyltriethoxy silane as a coupling agent. Then a series of poly(vinyl alcohol)/ surface modified Al2O3 nanocomposite suspensions were prepared in ethanol by a simple ultrasonic irradiation process. Composite films with 5, 10, and 15 wt % of inorganic Al2O3 nanoparticles were achieved after solvent evaporation. The formation of the composite materials were confirmed by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), and optical transparencies. The FE-SEM and TEM results showed a homogenous dispersion of nanoscale inorganic particles in the poly(vinyl alcohol) matrix. TGA thermographs showed that the thermal stability of the prepared Al2O3-reinforced nanocomposites was improved, increasing with increasing content of the nanoparticles. According to the optical transparencies, the optical clarity of poly(vinyl alcohol)/Al2O3 nanocomposite films was only slightly affected by the presence of the Al2O3 content.

Nanostructure titanium dioxide (TiO2) has been synthesized by hydrolysis of titanium tetrachloride in aqueous solution and Ag-TiO2 nanoparticles were synthesized by photoreduction method. The resulting materials were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscope (TEM), Fourier-transform infrared (FT-IR) and UV-vis absorption spectroscopy. The experimental results showed that the sizes of the synthesized TiO2 and Ag-TiO2 particles are in the range of 1.9-3.2 nm and 2-10 nm, respectively. Moreover, Ag-TiO2 nanoparticles exhibit enhanced photocatalytic activity on photodegradation of Safranin-O (SO) dye as compared to pure TiO2. The positive effect of silver on the photocatalytic activity of TiO2 may be explained by its ability to trap electrons. This process reduces the recombination of light generated electron-hole pairs at TiO2 surface and therefore enhances the photocatalytic activity of the synthesized TiO2 nanoparticles. The effects of initial dye and nanoparticle concentrations on the photocatalytic activity have been studied and the results demonstrate that the dye photodegradation follows pseudo-first-order kinetics. The observed maximum degradation efficiency of SO is about 60% for TiO2 and 96% for Ag-TiO2.  相似文献
