A gauge theory of weak and electromagnetic interactions based on a group containing the SU(4) group of unitary unimodular transformations on the lepton and quark quartets, is shown to be possible only if lepton and/or baryon number are not exactly conserved, or if there exist particles that cannot be built of quarks and leptons. The spontaneous breakdown of lepton number conservation in terms of tadpole-producing spinless leptons is considered.  相似文献

We consider that the Higgs triplet Yukawa coupling takes the Friedberg-Lee texture, and the Higgs doublet Yukawa coupling simply identifies with the diagonal Yutawa coupling of charged lepton in the context of left-right symmetric model. In this scenario, the phenomenology, including effective neutrino masses, mixings, and thermal flavor-dependent leptogenesis and lepton flavor violation decays are studied. We investigate the combined constrain of the parameters in this scenario and test its consistency with present data.  相似文献

Measurement of J/ψ leptonic width with the KEDR detector   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
We report a new precise determination of the leptonic widths of the J/psi meson performed with the KEDR detector at the VEPP-4M e^+e^- collider. The measured values of the J/psi parameters are: Гee×Гee/P = 0.3323±0.0064 (stat.)±0.0048 (syst.) keV,Гee×Гμμ/Г = 0.3318±0.0052 (stat.) ±0.0063 (syst.) keY. Assuming eμ universality and using the table value of the branching ratios the leptonic Г11 = 5.59 ± 0.12 keV width and the total Г = 94.1±2.7 keV widths were obtained. We also discuss in detail a method to calculate radiative corrections at a narrow resonance.  相似文献

We report results obtained with the first complete event generator for electroweak baryon and lepton number violating interactions at supercolliders. Typical events contain of the order of 50 electroweak gauge bosons, some Higgs bosons and quarks and leptons of all generations. There is still great uncertainty about the expected rate, but an event generator is needed in any case to establish what experimental limits can be placed on the cross section, and to determine whether, even if such spectacular events are seen, baryon and/or lepton number violation can be conclusively demonstrated. We find that baryon number violation would be very difficult to establish, but lepton number violation can be seen provided at least a few hundredL violating events are available with good electron or muon identification in the energy range 10 GeV to 1 TeV. The event generator, which takes the form of a package (HERBVI) interfacing to the existing simulation program HERWIG, should be useful for the coming period of detailed experiment design for the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN.  相似文献

A large part of the experimental program in Hall B of the Jefferson Lab is dedicated to baryon spectroscopy. Photoproduction experiments are essential part of this program. CEBAF Large Acceptance Spectrometer (CLAS) and availability of circularly and linearly polarized tagged photon beams provide unique conditions for this type of experiments. Recent addition of the Frozen Spin Target (FROST) gives a remarkable opportunity to measure double and triple polarization observables for different pseudo-scalar meson photopro- duction processes. For the first time, a complete or nearly complete experiment becomes possible and will allow model independent extraction of the reaction amplitude. The present focus of the CBELSA/TAPS experiment is on meson-photoproduction off the nucleon using polarized photons and polarized targets. Here first preliminary results on the reactions γp → pπ and γp → pπ for both circularly and linearly polarized photons and a longitudinally polarized target are presented. Preliminary results for the beam asymmetry ∑ and the double polarization observable G have been extracted for both reactions using the linear polarization data. From the circular polarization data the observable E has been determined. Due to the near 4π angular coverage of the detector system these results cover almost the full solid angle.  相似文献

The reactions π-p →ηn and γ'p →ηP are investigated within a dynamical coupledJchannels model of meson production reactions in the nucleon resonance region. The meson-baryon channels included are πN, ηN, π△, σN, and pN. The direct wphotoproduction process is studied within a formalism based on a chiral constituent quark model approach, complemented with a one-gluon-exchange mechanism, to take into account the breakdown of the SU(6)0(3) symmetry. In the models search, the following known nucleon resonances are embodied: Sll (1535), $11(1650), Pll (1440), Pl1(1710), P13(1720), D13(1520), D13(1700), D15(1675), and F15(1680). Data for the π-p →ηnreaction from threshold up to a total center-of-mass energy of W ≈ 2 GeV are satisfactorily reproduced. For the photoproduction channel, two additional higher mass known resonances, P13 (1900) and F15 (2000), are also considered. However, reproducing the data for γ'p →ηP requires, within our approach, two new nucleon resonances, for which we extract mass and width.  相似文献

Abundant ψ' events have been collected at the Beijing Electron Positron Collider-Ⅱ (BEPCⅡ) that could undoubtedly provide us with a great opportunity to study the more attractive charmonium decays. As has been noticed before, in the process of J/ψ' decaying to the baryonic final states, pK-Λ, the evident Λ* and N* bands have been observed. Similarly, by using the product of χcJ from ψ' radiative decay, we may confirm this or find some extra new resonances. χc0's data samples will be more than χc1,2, taking into account the larger branching ratio of ψ' →γχc0. Here, we provide explicit partial wave analysis formulae for the very interesting channel ψ' →γχc0 →γpK-Λ.  相似文献

We report our investigation on the octet baryon spectrum in the nonrelativistic quark model by taking into account the two-gluon exchange effect. The calculated octet baryon masses agree better with the experimental data. It is also shown that the two-gluon exchange interactions bring a significant correction to the Gell-Mann-Okubo mass formula.  相似文献

Taking the conservation of baryon number into account in a non-uniform flow model, the rapidity distribution of the net protons at the LHC is predicted. We study charmed baryon resonances that are generated dynamically from a coupled-channel unitary approach that implements heavy-quark symmetry. Some states can already be identified with experimental observations, such as Ac(2595), Ac(2660), Ec(2902) or Ac(2941), while others need a compilation of more experimental data as well as an extension of the model to include higher order contributions. The lepton-number-violating decays of singly-charged Higgs bosons H^± are investigated in the minimal type-( Ⅰ+Ⅱ ) seesaw model with one SU(2)L Higgs triplet △ and one heavy Majorana neutrino N1 at the TeV scale. We find that the branching ratios B(H^+ → 1α^+υ^-) (for α = e,μ,τ) depend not only on the mass and mixing parameters of three light neutrinos υi (for i = 1, 2, 3) but also on those of N1. Assuming that the mass of N1 lies in the range of 200 GeV to 1 TeV, we figure out the generous interference bands for the contributions of υi and N1 to B(H^+→ 1α^+υ^-). We illustrate some salient features of such interference effects by considering three typical mass patterns of υi, and show that the relevant Majorana CP-violating phases can affect the magnitudes of B(H^+→ 1α^+υ^-)) in this parameter region.  相似文献

We propose a simple set of hypotheses governing the deviations of the leptonic mapping matrix from the Harrison-Perkins-Scott (HPS) form. These deviations are supposed to arise entirely from a perturbation of the mass matrix in the charged lepton sector. The perturbing matrix is assumed to be purely imaginary (thus maximally T-violating) and to have a strength in energy scale no greater (but perhaps smaller) than the muon mass. As we shall show, it then follows that the absolute value of the mapping matrix elements pertaining to the tau lepton deviate by no more than O((mμ/mτ)^2) ≈ 3.5 ×10^-3 from their HPS values. Assuming that (mμ/mτ)^2 can be neglected, we derive two simple constraints on the four parameters θ12,θ23, θ31, and δ of the mapping matrix. These constraints are independent of the details of the imaginary T-violating perturbation of the charged lepton mass matrix. We also show that the e and μ parts of the mapping matrix have a definite form governed by two parameters α and β; any deviation of order mμ/mτ can be accommodated by adjusting these two parameters.  相似文献

Multi-meson final states such as γp →pπ0π0 and γp →pπ0η have been investigated with the Crystal-Barrel/TAPS experiment at ELSA. Baryon cascades via △π and △η and also via higher mass baryon resonances are clearly observed. Based on this data and on data from other reactions a partial wave analysis has been performed from which partial decay widths of various N* and △* states into the different pπ0π0 and pπ0η decay channels have been determined, leading partly to unexpected results. In addition, polarisation observables have been investigated. The beam asymmetry X has been determined for both reactions and double polarisation data using a longitudinally polarised target and a circularly or linearly polarised photon beam has been taken. Given the angular coverage of the Crystal-Baxrel/TAPS experiment this data covers almost the full angular range and phase space. This data will provide new and important information for the partial wave analyses and bring us one step closer towards a complete experiment.  相似文献

Measurements of ω photoproduction of the Crystal-Barrel/TAPS experiment at the ELSA accelerator of Bonn University are presented which used linearly polarized tagged photon beam from threshold to Eγ = 1700MeV. The azimuthal asymmetries ∑and ∑πindicate s-channel resonance contributions on top of the established t-channel exchange processes. These findings are further enhanced by a very first measurement of the G-asymmetry which, in addition to the polarized photon beam, also requires a longitudinally polarized proton target. An intuitive interpretation of the specific sensitivity of the azimuthal asymmetries to the reaction mechanisms involved is given.  相似文献

In this paper, we calculate the top quark rare decays t →cγ and v in an extension of the standard model, where baryon number and lepton number are local gauge symmetries. Adopting reasonable assumptions on the parameter space, we find that the branching ratios of t →cγ and t →cg can reach 10^-6 and 10^-5 respectively, which can be detected in near future.  相似文献
