In this paper we explore how the two mechanisms, Turing instability and Hopf bifurcation, interact to determine the formation of spatial patterns in a ratio-dependent prey–predator model with discrete time delay. We conduct both rigorous analysis and extensive numerical simulations. Results show that four types of patterns, cold spot, labyrinthine, chaotic as well as mixture of spots and labyrinthine can be observed with and without time delay. However, in the absence of time delay, the two aforementioned mechanisms have a significant impact on the emergence of spatial patterns, whereas only Hopf bifurcation threshold is derived by considering the discrete time delay as the bifurcation parameter. Moreover, time delay promotes the emergence of spatial patterns via spatio-temporal Hopf bifurcation compared to the non-delayed counterpart, implying the destabilizing role of time delay. In addition, the destabilizing role is prominent when the magnitude of time delay and the ratio of diffusivity are comparatively large. 相似文献

A differential-algebraic model system which considers a prey-predator system with stage structure for prey and harvest effort on predator is proposed. By using the differential-algebraic system theory and bifurcation theory, dynamic behavior of the proposed model system with and without discrete time delay is investigated. Local stability analysis of the model system without discrete time delay reveals that there is a phenomenon of singularity induced bifurcation due to variation of the economic interest of harvesting, and a state feedback controller is designed to stabilize the proposed model system at the interior equilibrium; Furthermore, local stability of the model system with discrete time delay is studied. It reveals that the discrete time delay has a destabilizing effect in the population dynamics, and a phenomenon of Hopf bifurcation occurs as the discrete time delay increases through a certain threshold. Finally, numerical simulations are carried out to show the consistency with theoretical analysis obtained in this paper. 相似文献

By introducing discrete time delay into the model for producing 1,3-propanediol by microbial continuous fermentation, we consider the stability and Hopf bifurcation of the delay differential system. Through numerical simulations, we get the rule of branch value changing with parameter and draw the pictures of periodic solutions and phase diagrams with specified parameters. The effect of time delay suggests that the system can qualitatively describe oscillatory phenomena occurring in the experiment. 相似文献

In this paper a system of three delay differential equations representing a Hopfield type general model for three neurons with two-way (bidirectional) time delayed connections between the neurons and time delayed self-connection from each neuron to itself is studied. Delay independent and delay dependent sufficient conditions for linear stability, instability and the occurrence of a Hopf bifurcation about the trivial equilibrium are addressed. The partition of the resulting parametric space into regions of stability, instability, and Hopf bifurcation in the absence of self-connection is realized. To extend the local Hopf branches for large delay values a particular bidirectional delayed tri-neuron model without self-connection is investigated. Sufficient conditions for global existence of multiple non-constant periodic solutions are obtained for such a model using the global Hopf-bifurcation theorem for functional differential equations due to J. Wu and the Bendixson criterion for higher dimensional ordinary differential equations due to Li and Muldowney, and following the approach developed by Wei and Li. 相似文献

In this paper, a hybrid ratio-dependent three species food chain model with time delay is studied by using the theory of functional differential equation and Hopf bifurcation, the condition on which positive equilibrium exists and the quality of Hopf bifurcation are given. Chaotic solutions are observed and are controlled by delay parameter. Finally, we indicate that when the delay passes through certain critical values, chaotic oscillation is converted into a stable state or a stable periodic orbit. 相似文献

Spatiotemporal dynamics in a predator-prey model with a functional response increasing in both predator and prey densities 下载免费PDF全文
In this paper, we studied a diffusive predator-prey model with a functional response increasing in both predator and prey densities. The Turing instability and local stability are studied by analyzing the eigenvalue spectrum. Delay induced Hopf bifurcation is investigated by using time delay as bifurcation parameter. Some conditions for determining the property of Hopf bifurcation are obtained by utilizing the normal form method and center manifold reduction for partial functional differential equation. 相似文献

In this study, we have considered a prey-predator model reflecting the predator interference with discrete time delay. This delay is regarded as the lag due to gestation. In absence of delay, the criteria for existence of interior equilibrium and its global stability are derived. By choosing the delay as a bifurcation parameter, we have shown that a Hopf bifurcation may occur when the delay passes its critical value. Finally, we have derived the criteria for stability switches and verified the results through computer simulation. 相似文献

In this paper, a modified Holling-Tanner predator-prey model with time delay is considered. By regarding the delay as the bifurcation parameter, the local asymptotic stability of the positive equilibrium is investigated. Meanwhile, we find that the system can also undergo a Hopf bifurcation of nonconstant periodic solution at the positive equilibrium when the delay crosses through a sequence of critical values. In particular, we study the direction of Hopf bifurcation and the stability of bifurcated periodic solutions, an explicit algorithm is given by applying the normal form theory and the center manifold reduction for functional differential equations. Finally, numerical simulations supporting the theoretical analysis are also included. 相似文献

A Cohen-Grossberg neural network with discrete delays is investigated in this paper. The qualitative analysis is given for the system and it is found that the system undergoes a sequence of Hopf bifurcations by choosing the discrete time delay as a bifurcation parameter. Moreover, by applying the normal form theory and the center manifold theorem, the direction of the Hopf bifurcation and the stability of bifurcating periodic solutions are obtained. Numerical simulations are given to illustrate the obtained results. 相似文献

The dynamics of a logistic equation with discrete delay are investigated, together with the local and global stability of the equilibria. In particular, the conditions under which a sequence of Hopf bifurcations occur at the positive equilibrium are obtained. Explicit algorithm for determining the stability of the bifurcating periodic solutions and the direction of the Hopf bifurcation are derived by using the theory of normal form and center manifold [Hassard B, Kazarino D, Wan Y. Theory and applications of Hopf bifurcation. Cambridge: Cambridge University Press; 1981.]. Global existence of periodic solutions is also established by using a global Hopf bifurcation result of Wu [Symmetric functional differential equations and neural networks with memory. A delayed Lotka–Volterra two-species predator–prey system with discrete hunting delay and distributed maturation delay for the predator population described by an integral with a strong delay kernel is considered. By linearizing the system at the positive equilibrium and analyzing the associated characteristic equation, the asymptotic stability of the positive equilibrium is investigated and Hopf bifurcations are demonstrated. It is found that under suitable conditions on the parameters the positive equilibrium is asymptotically stable when the hunting delay is less than a certain critical value and unstable when the hunting delay is greater than this critical value. Meanwhile, according to the Hopf bifurcation theorem for functional differential equations (FDEs), we find that the system can also undergo a Hopf bifurcation of nonconstant periodic solution at the positive equilibrium when the hunting delay crosses through a sequence of critical values. In particular, by applying the normal form theory and the center manifold reduction for FDEs, an explicit algorithm determining the direction of Hopf bifurcations and the stability of bifurcating periodic solutions occurring through Hopf bifurcations is given. Finally, to verify our theoretical predictions, some numerical simulations are also included at the end of this paper. 相似文献

In this paper, we investigate a reaction–diffusion–advection model with time delay effect. The stability/instability of the spatially nonhomogeneous positive steady state and the associated Hopf bifurcation are investigated when the given parameter of the model is near the principle eigenvalue of an elliptic operator. Our results imply that time delay can make the spatially nonhomogeneous positive steady state unstable for a reaction–diffusion–advection model, and the model can exhibit oscillatory pattern through Hopf bifurcation. The effect of advection on Hopf bifurcation values is also considered, and our results suggest that Hopf bifurcation is more likely to occur when the advection rate increases. 相似文献

We proposed a nutrient-phytoplankton interaction model with a discrete and distributed time delay to provide a better understanding of phytoplankton growth dynamics and nutrient-phytoplankton oscillations induced by delay. Standard linear analysis indicated that delay can induce instability of a positive equilibrium via Hopf bifurcation. We derived the conditions guaranteeing the existence of Hopf bifurcation and tracked its direction and the stability of the bifurcating periodic solutions. We also obtained the sufficient conditions for the global asymptotic stability of the unique positive steady state. Numerical analysis in the fully nonlinear regime showed that the stability of the positive equilibrium is sensitive to changes in delay values under select conditions. Numerical results were consistent with results predicted by linear analysis. 相似文献

Dynamical analysis of a delayed singular prey–predator economic model with stochastic fluctuations 下载免费PDF全文
This article studies a delayed singular prey–predator economic model with stochastic fluctuations, which is described by differential‐algebraic equations due to a economic theory. Local stability and Hopf bifurcation condition are described on the delayed singular prey–predator economic model within deterministic environment. It reveals the sensitivity of the model dynamics on gestation time delay. A phenomenon of Hopf bifurcation occurs as the gestation time delay increases through a certain threshold. Subsequently, a singular stochastic prey–predator economic model with time delay is obtained by introducing Gaussian white noise terms to the above deterministic model system. The fluctuation intensity of population and harvest effort are calculated by Fourier transforms method. Numerical simulations are carried out to substantiate these theory analysis. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Complexity 19: 23–29, 2014 相似文献

A model of a political system with three political parties and a group of nonaffiliated voters is considered. The model consists of four coupled ordinary differential equations in which members of the third party change allegiance and after a time delay become an active member of one of the other parties. Equilibrium and stability analysis are carried out. Taking the time delay as a bifurcation parameter, it is shown that a Hopf bifurcation can occur. 相似文献

In this paper, an age‐structured population model with the form of neutral functional differential equation is studied. We discuss the stability of the positive equilibrium by analyzing the characteristic equation. Local Hopf bifurcation results are also obtained by choosing the mature delay as bifurcation parameter. On the center manifold, the normal form of the Hopf bifurcation is derived, and explicit formulae for determining the criticality of bifurcation are theoretically given. Moreover, the global continuation of Hopf bifurcating periodic solutions is investigated by using the global Hopf bifurcation theory of neutral equations. Finally, some numerical examples are carried out to support the main results. 相似文献
