The space clos(X) of all nonempty closed subsets of an unbounded metric space X is considered. The space clos(X) is endowed with a metric in which a sequence of closed sets converges if and only if the distances from these sets to a fixed point θ are bounded and, for any r, the sequence of the unions of the given sets with the exterior balls of radius r centered at θ converges in the Hausdorff metric. The metric on clos(X) thus defined is not equivalent to the Hausdorff metric, whatever the initial metric space X. Conditions for a set to be closed, totally bounded, or compact in clos(X) are obtained; criteria for the bounded compactness and separability of clos(X) are given. The space of continuous maps from a compact space to clos(X) is considered; conditions for a set to be totally bounded in this space are found.  相似文献

Let δ be a derivation of a locally nilpotent ring R. Then the differential polynomial ring R[X; δ] cannot be mapped onto a ring with a non-zero idempotent. This answers a recent question by Greenfeld, Smoktunowicz and Ziembowski.  相似文献

We consider the problem to synthesize a stabilizing control u synthesis for systems \(\frac{{dx}}{{dt}} = Ax + Bu\) where A ∈ ?n×n and B ∈ ?n×m, while the elements αi,j(·) of the matrix A are uniformly bounded nonanticipatory functionals of arbitrary nature. If the system is continuous, then the elements of the matrix B are continuous and uniformly bounded functionals as well. If the system is pulse-modulated, then the elements of the matrix B are differentiable uniformly bounded functions of time. It is assumed that k isolated uniformly bounded elements \({\alpha _{{i_l},{j_l}}}\left( \cdot \right)\) satisfying the condition \(\mathop {\inf }\limits_{\left( \cdot \right)} \left| {{\alpha _{{i_l},{j_l}}}\left( \cdot \right)} \right|{\alpha _ - } > 0,\quad l \in \overline {1,k}\) are located above the main diagonal of the matrix A(·), where G k is the set of all isolated elements of the system, J1 is the set of indices of rows of matrix A(·) containing isolated elements, and J2 is the set of indices of its rows free of isolated elements. It is assumed that other elements located above the main diagonal are sufficiently small provided that their row indices belong to J1, i.e., \(\mathop {\sup }\limits_{\left( \cdot \right)} \left| {{\alpha _{i,j}}\left( \cdot \right)} \right| < \delta ,\quad {\alpha _{i,j}} \notin {G_k},\quad i \in {J_1},\quad j > i\). All other elements located above the main diagonal are uniformly bounded. The relation u = S(·)x is satisfied in the continuous case, while the relation u = ξ(t) is satisfied in the pulse-modulated case; here the components of the vector ξ are outputs of synchronous pulse elements. Constructing a special quadratic Lyapunov function, one can determine a matrix S(·) such that the closed system becomes globally exponentially stable in the continuous case. In the pulse-modulated case, input pulses are synthesized such that the system becomes globally asymptotically stable.  相似文献

Suppose that a finite group G admits a Frobenius group of automorphisms BC of coprime order with kernel B and complement C such that C G (C) is abelian. It is proved that if B is abelian of rank at least two and \({[C_G(u), C_G(v),\dots,C_G(v)]=1}\) for any \({u,v\in B{\setminus}\{1\}}\), where C G (v) is repeated k times, then G is nilpotent of class bounded in terms of k and |C| only. It is also proved that if B is abelian of rank at least three and C G (b) is nilpotent of class at most c for every \({b \in B{\setminus}\{1\}}\), then G is nilpotent of class bounded in terms of c and |C|. The proofs are based on results on graded Lie rings with many commuting components.  相似文献

Let R be a ring with identity. We use J(R); G(R); and X(R) to denote the Jacobson radical, the group of all units, and the set of all nonzero nonunits in R; respectively. A ring is said to be Abelian if every idempotent is central. It is shown, for an Abelian ring R and an idempotent-lifting ideal N ? J(R) of R; that R has a complete set of primitive idempotents if and only if R/N has a complete set of primitive idempotents. The structure of an Abelian ring R is completely determined in relation with the local property when X(R) is a union of 2; 3; 4; and 5 orbits under the left regular action on X(R) by G(R): For a semiperfect ring R which is not local, it is shown that if G(R) is a cyclic group with 2 ∈ G(R); then R is finite. We lastly consider two sorts of conditions for G(R) to be an Abelian group.  相似文献

Poset Loops
J. D. H. Smith 《Order》2017,34(2):265-285
Given a ring and a locally finite poset, an incidence loop or poset loop is obtained from a new and natural extended convolution product on the set of functions mapping intervals of the poset to elements of the ring. The paper investigates the interplay between properties of the ring, the poset, and the loop. The annihilation structure of the ring and extremal elements of the poset determine commutative and associative properties for loop elements. Nilpotence of the ring and height restrictions on the poset force the loop to become associative, or even commutative. Constraints on the appearance of nilpotent groups of class 2 as poset loops are given. The main result shows that the incidence loop of a poset of finite height is nilpotent, of nilpotence class bounded in terms of the height of the poset.  相似文献

This paper presents a study of generic elements in full isometry groups of Polish ultrametric spaces. We obtain a complete characterization of Polish ultrametric spaces X whose isometry group Iso(X) has a neighborhood basis at the identity consisting of open subgroups with ample generics. It also gives a characterization of the existence of an open subgroup in Iso(X) with a comeager conjugacy class. We also study the transfinite sequence defined by the projection of a Polish ultrametric space X on the ultrametric space of orbits of X under the action of Iso(X).  相似文献

In this paper we construct a model for the free idempotent generated locally inverse semigroup on a set X. The elements of this model are special vertex-labeled bipartite trees with a pair of distinguished vertices. To describe this model, we need first to introduce a variation of a model for the free pseudosemilattice on a set X presented in Auinger and Oliveira (On the variety of strict pseudosemilattices. Stud Sci Math Hungarica 50:207–241, 2013). A construction of a graph associated with a regular semigroup was presented in Brittenham et al. (Subgroups of free idempotent generated semigroups need not be free. J Algebra 321:3026–3042, 2009) in order to give a first example of a free regular idempotent generated semigroup on a biordered set E with non-free maximal subgroups. If G is the graph associated with the free pseudosemilattice on X, we shall see that the models we present for the free pseudosemilattice on X and for the free idempotent generated locally inverse semigroup on X are closely related with the graph G.  相似文献

Let (X, Y) be a balanced pair in an abelian category. We first introduce the notion of cotorsion pairs relative to (X, Y), and then give some equivalent characterizations when a relative cotorsion pair is hereditary or perfect. We prove that if the X-resolution dimension of Y (resp. Y-coresolution dimension of X) is finite, then the bounded homotopy category of Y (resp. X) is contained in that of X (resp. Y). As a consequence, we get that the right X-singularity category coincides with the left Y-singularity category if the X-resolution dimension of Y and the Y-coresolution dimension of X are finite.  相似文献

We shall extend the research on power structure of finite p-groups in Mann (J Algebra 42:121–135, 1976) to locally nilpotentp-groups. Firstly, we obtain that a locally nilpotent \(P_i\)-group G with \(|G:\mho _1(G)|< \infty \) is an extension of a divisible abelian group by a finite p-group. Next we get the structure of infinite locally nilpotent p-groups which are not \(P_i\)-groups, but all of whose proper infinite subgroups are \(P_i\)-groups. Finally, we show that locally nilpotent \(P_i\)-groups with all subgroups subnormal are nilpotent.  相似文献

We give a unified method to obtain the conservativeness of a class of Markov processes associated with lower bounded semi-Dirichlet forms on L 2(X;m), including symmetric diffusion processes, some non-symmetric diffusion processes and jump type Markov processes on X, where X is a locally compact separable metric space and m is a positive Radon measure on X with full topological support. Using the method, we give an example in each section, providing the conservativeness of the processes, that are given by the “increasingness of the volume of some sets(balls)” and “that of the coefficients on the sets” of the Markov processes.  相似文献

The invisibility graph I(X) of a set X ? R d is a (possibly infinite) graph whose vertices are the points of X and two vertices are connected by an edge if and only if the straight-line segment connecting the two corresponding points is not fully contained in X. We consider the following three parameters of a set X: the clique number ω(I(X)), the chromatic number χ(I(X)) and the convexity number γ(X), which is the minimum number of convex subsets of X that cover X.We settle a conjecture of Matou?ek and Valtr claiming that for every planar set X, γ(X) can be bounded in terms of χ(I(X)). As a part of the proof we show that a disc with n one-point holes near its boundary has χ(I(X)) ≥ log log(n) but ω(I(X)) = 3.We also find sets X in R5 with χ(X) = 2, but γ(X) arbitrarily large.  相似文献

Let A be a Banach algebra with a bounded left approximate identity \(\{e_\lambda \}_{\lambda \in \Lambda }\), let \(\pi \) be a continuous representation of A on a Banach space X, and let S be a non-empty subset of X such that \(\lim _{\lambda }\pi (e_\lambda )s=s\) uniformly on S. If S is bounded, or if \(\{e_\lambda \}_{\lambda \in \Lambda }\) is commutative, then we show that there exist \(a\in A\) and maps \(x_n: S\rightarrow X\) for \(n\ge 1\) such that \(s=\pi (a^n)x_n(s)\) for all \(n\ge 1\) and \(s\in S\). The properties of \(a\in A\) and the maps \(x_n\), as produced by the constructive proof, are studied in some detail. The results generalize previous simultaneous factorization theorems as well as Allan and Sinclair’s power factorization theorem. In an ordered context, we also consider the existence of a positive factorization for a subset of the positive cone of an ordered Banach space that is a positive module over an ordered Banach algebra with a positive bounded left approximate identity. Such factorizations are not always possible. In certain cases, including those for positive modules over ordered Banach algebras of bounded functions, such positive factorizations exist, but the general picture is still unclear. Furthermore, simultaneous pointwise power factorizations for sets of bounded maps with values in a Banach module (such as sets of bounded convergent nets) are obtained. A worked example for the left regular representation of \(\mathrm {C}_0({\mathbb R})\) and unbounded S is included.  相似文献

Let mn be positive integers and p a prime. We denote by \(\nu (G)\) an extension of the non-abelian tensor square \(G \otimes G\) by \(G \times G\). We prove that if G is a residually finite group satisfying some non-trivial identity \(f \equiv ~1\) and for every \(x,y \in G\) there exists a p-power \(q=q(x,y)\) such that \([x,y^{\varphi }]^q = 1\), then the derived subgroup \(\nu (G)'\) is locally finite (Theorem A). Moreover, we show that if G is a residually finite group in which for every \(x,y \in G\) there exists a p-power \(q=q(x,y)\) dividing \(p^m\) such that \([x,y^{\varphi }]^q\) is left n-Engel, then the non-abelian tensor square \(G \otimes G\) is locally virtually nilpotent (Theorem B).  相似文献

A new result of G. Czédli states that for an ordered set P with at least two elements and a group G, there exists a bounded lattice L such that the ordered set of principal congruences of L is isomorphic to P and the automorphism group of L is isomorphic to G.I provide an alternative proof utilizing a result of mine with J. We prove a decomposition result for a group G acting strongly transitively on the Tits boundary of a Euclidean building. As an application we provide a local to global result for discrete Euclidean buildings, which generalizes results in the locally compact case by Caprace–Ciobotaru and Burger–Mozes. Let X be a Euclidean building without cone factors. If a group G of automorphisms of X acts strongly transitively on the spherical building at infinity ?X, then the G-stabilizer of every affine apartment in X contains all reflections along thick walls. In particular G acts strongly transitively on X if X is simplicial and thick.  相似文献

In this paper, the parametric matrix equation A(p)X = B(p) whose elements are linear functions of uncertain parameters varying within intervals are considered. In this matrix equation A(p) and B(p) are known m-by-m and m-by-n matrices respectively, and X is the m-by-n unknown matrix. We discuss the so-called AE-solution sets for such systems and give some analytical characterizations for the AE-solution sets and a sufficient condition under which these solution sets are bounded. We then propose a modification of Krawczyk operator for parametric systems which causes reduction of the computational complexity of obtaining an outer estimation for the parametric united solution set, considerably. Then we give a generalization of the Bauer-Skeel and the Hansen-Bliek-Rohn bounds for enclosing the parametric united solution set which also enables us to reduce the computational complexity, significantly. Also some numerical approaches based on Gaussian elimination and Gauss-Seidel methods to find outer estimations for the parametric united solution set are given. Finally, some numerical experiments are given to illustrate the performance of the proposed methods.  相似文献

X-quasinormal subgroups   总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3
Considering two subgroups A and B of a group G and ? ≠ X ? G, we say that A is X-permutable with B if AB x = B x A for some element xX. We use this concept to give new characterizations of the classes of solvable, supersolvable, and nilpotent finite groups.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with a study of some of the properties of locally product and almost locally product structures on a differentiable manifold X n of class C k . Every locally product space has certain almost locally product structures which transform the local tangent space to X n at an arbitrary point P in a set fashion: this is studied in Theorem (2.2). Theorem (2.3) considers the nature of transformations that exist between two co-ordinate systems at a point whenever an almost locally product structure has the same local representation in each of these co-ordinate systems. A necessary and sufficient condition for X n to be a locally product manifold is obtained in terms of the pseudo-group of co-ordinate transformations on X n and the subpseudo-groups [cf., Theoren (2.1)]. Section 3 is entirely devoted to the study of integrable almost locally product structures.  相似文献

Let X be a closed subset of a locally compact second countable group G whose family of translates has finite VC-dimension. We show that the topological border of X has Haar measure 0. Under an extra technical hypothesis, this also holds if X is constructible. We deduce from this generic compact domination for definably amenable NIP groups.  相似文献
