We propose a scheme to explore two-photon high-dimensional entanglement associated with a transverse pattern by means of two-photon interference at a beamsplitter. We find that the topological symmetry of the angular spectrum of the two-photon state governs the nature of the two-photon interference. We prove that the anti-coalescence interference is the signature of two-photon entanglement. On the basis of this feature, we propose a special Mach–Zehnder interferometer incorporated with two spiral phase plates which can change the interference from a coalescence to an anti-coalescence type only for a two-photon entangled state. The scheme is simple and straightforward compared with the test for a Bell inequality.  相似文献

Two schemes for unconditionally generating two-mode motional entanglement for two ions trapped in a cavity have been proposed. The first scheme is: the vibrational mode of the first ion is coupled to the cavity field via a linear-mixing interaction and the vibrational mode of the second ion is coupled to the cavity field via an effective parametric interaction respectively. The two ions can evolve into a steady-state two-mode entangled Gaussian state, which is a mixed state. The second scheme is. the two ions are trapped in a bimodal cavity, through choosing the frequency and intensity of the driven lasers, the two ions can evolve into a two-mode entangled state, which is a pure state.  相似文献

We theoretically discuss two-photon double-slit interference for spontaneous and stimulated parametric down-conversions and compare it with one-photon case. We show that two-photon sub-wavelength interference can exist in a general interaction of spontaneous parametric down-conversion (SPDC) for both type I and type II crystals. In low gain SPDC, interference effect can be attributed to the previous study based on two-photon entangled state. But the important fact is that the sub-wavelength interference will not be washed out even if in very high gain SPDC, revealing the macroscopic nature. We propose an alternative scheme to observe sub-wavelength interference with a joint-intensity measurement, which occurs for a type I crystal in the high gain case. The theoretical analysis shows that the effect originates from classical thermal correlation. However, we also formulate the one-photon and two-photon double-slit interference in the stimulated process, and show amplified interference patterns.  相似文献

We consider multimode two-photon interference at a beam splitter by photons created by spontaneous parametric down-conversion. The resulting interference pattern is shown to depend upon the transverse spatial symmetry of the pump beam. In an experiment, we employ the first-order Hermite-Gaussian modes in order to show that, by manipulating the pump beam, one can control the resulting two-photon interference behavior. We expect these results to play an important role in the engineering of quantum states of light for use in quantum information processing and quantum imaging.  相似文献

Extending our work on the enhancement of photon antibunching we investigate the photon statistics after interference of a two-photon absorbed beam with a coherent one. The interference is calculated in the polarization picture but the equivalence to an interferometer is shown. We use the asymptotic behaviour during two-photon absorption and apply also approximate equations to study the system in the time domain before the asymptotic regime is reached.  相似文献

We study electromagnetically induced absorption (EIA) and transparency (EIT) in an optical-rf two-photon coupling configuration. It is shown that the interference effect due to interacting dark resonances results in an EIA for a resonant two-photon coupling and this EIA is observed to evolve into an EIT when there is a detuning in the two-photon coupling.  相似文献

We theoretically investigate the features of two-photon absorption in a coherently driven four-level atomic system with closed-loop configuration. It is found that two-photon absorption can be completely suppressed just by properly adjusting the relative phase of four coherent low-intensity driving fields and the atomic system becomes trans- parent against two-photon absorption. From a physical point of view, we explicitly explain these results in terms of quantum interference induced by two different two-photon excitation channels.  相似文献

We experimentally show that two-photon path-entangled states can be coherently manipulated by multimode interference in multimode waveguides. By measuring the output two-photon spatial correlation function versus the phase of the input state, we show that multimode waveguides perform as nearly ideal multiport beam splitters at the quantum level, creating a large variety of entangled and separable multipath two-photon states.  相似文献

We propose a scheme to achieve super-resolution of interference pattern with independent laser beams. We perform an experimental observation of a double-slit interference with two orthogonally polarized laser beams. The resolution of the interference pattern measured by a two-photon detection is doubled provided the two beams illuminate the double-slit with certain incident angles. The scheme is simple and can favour both high intensity and perfect visibility.  相似文献

We examine the two-photon exchange contribution to the eN --> edelta(1232) --> epiN process with the aim of a precision study of the ratios of electric quadrupole (E2) and Coulomb quadrupole (C2) to the magnetic dipole (M1) gamma*Ndelta transitions. We relate the two-photon exchange amplitude to the N --> delta generalized parton distributions and obtain a quantitative estimate of the two-photon effects. The two-photon exchange corrections to the C2/M1 ratio depend strongly on whether this quantity is obtained from an interference cross section or from the Rosenbluth-type cross sections, in similarity with the elastic, eN --> eN, process.  相似文献

We study the interference structure of the second-order intensity correlation function for polarization-entangled two-photon light obtained from type II collinear frequency-degenerate spontaneous parametric down conversion (SPDC). The structure is visualized due to the spreading of the two-photon amplitude as two-photon light propagates through optical fiber with group-velocity dispersion (GVD). Because of the spreading, polarization-entangled Bell states can be obtained without any birefringence compensation at the output of the nonlinear crystal. Instead, proper time selection of the intensity correlation function is required. A birefringent material inserted at the output of the nonlinear crystal (either reducing the initial e-o delay between the oppositely polarized twin photons or increasing this delay) leads to a more complicated interference structure of the correlation function.  相似文献

The second-order temporal interference of two independent single-mode continuous-wave lasers is discussed by employing two-photon interference in Feynman's path integral theory. It is concluded that whether the second-order temporal interference pattern can or cannot be retrieved via two-photon coincidence counting rate is dependent on the resolution time of the detection system and the frequency difference between these two lasers. Two identical and tunable single-mode continuous-wave diode lasers are employed to verify the predictions. These studies are helpful to understand the physics of two-photon interference with photons of different spectra.  相似文献

The dependence of one- and two-photon characteristics of pulsed entangled two-photon fields generated in spontaneous parametric down-conversion on the pump-pulse properties (shape of the pump-pulse spectrum and its internal structure) is examined. It is shown that entangled two-photon fields with defined properties can be generated. A general relation between the spectra of the down-converted fields is established. As a special case the interference of two partially overlapping pulsed two-photon fields is studied. The fourth-order interference pattern of entangled two-photon fields is investigated in the polarization analog of the Hong-Ou-Mandel interferometer. We present the first observation of two-photon polarization interference structure in the second-order Glauber correlation function of two-photon light generated via type-II spontaneous parametric down-conversion. In order to obtain this result, two-photon light is transmitted through an optical fiber and the coincidence distribution is analyzed by means of the start-stop method. Beyond the experimental demonstration of an interesting effect in quantum optics, these results also have considerable relevance for quantum communications.  相似文献

We theoretically investigate the features of two-photon absorption in a five-level atomic system with interacting dark resonances. It is found that two-photon absorption can be completely suppressed at two different frequencies due to the application of two coherent coupling fields and the atomic system exhibits double electromagnetically induced transparency windows against two-photon absorption. The position and width of the double two-photon transparency windows can be controlled via properly adjusting the frequency detuning and the intensities of the two coupling fields. In addition, one enhanced narrow central line can be observed in the two-photon absorption spectra, which may find applications in high-precision spectroscopy. Form a physical point of view, we explicitly explain these results in terms of quantum interference induced by three different two-photon excitation channels in the dressed-state picture.  相似文献

The concept of mode locking in laser is applied to a two-photon state with frequency entanglement. Cavity enhanced parametric down conversion is found to produce exactly such a state. The mode-locked two-photon state exhibits a comblike correlation function. An unbalanced Hong-Ou-Mandel type interferometer is used to measure the correlation function. A revival of the typical interference dip is observed. We will discuss a scheme for engineering of quantum states in time domain.  相似文献

研究了含Kerr介质高Q腔内单个二能级原子与双模二项式光场发生双光子共振相互作用系统的腔场谱,给出了Kerr效应与量子干涉项ΔS(ω)关系的数值计算结果,讨论了Kerr效应对二项式腔场谱量子干涉的影响.结果表明:若初始时刻原子处于激发态而双模光场处于二项式态,随Kerr效应的增强,致使量子干涉项引起谱线强度的改变量呈现出"不规则的周期性衰减振荡"特性,震荡幅度与两模光场的频差密切相关.在Kerr系数χg(g为光场与原子的耦合常数)时,Kerr效应对干涉项的影响比较强烈;在χg时,趋于平稳.随着Kerr效应的增强,系统腔场谱由对称结构逐渐演化为不对称的多谱线结构.  相似文献

We propose the methods of generating multipartite entanglement by considering the interaction of a system of N two-level atoms in M cavities of high quality factor with a strong classical driving field. It is shown that, with the cavity detuning, the applied driving field detuning and vacuum Rabi coupling, we can produce an entangled coherent state in two single-mode cavities and generate the entangled coherent cluster states in two bimodal vacuum cavities. Tuning these parameters also allows us to acquire the anti-Jaynes-Cummings (AJC) interaction, with which we can generate the maximally two-photon entangled states, and the two-atom and the two-photon entangled cluster states.  相似文献

This work demonstrates that the detuning of the fs-laser spectrum from the two-photon absorption band of organic materials can be used to reach further control of the two-photon absorption by pulse spectral phase manipulation. We investigate the coherent control of the two-photon absorption in imidazole-thiophene core compounds presenting distinct two-photon absorption spectra. The coherent control, performed using pulse phase shaping and genetic algorithm, exhibited different growth rates for each sample. Such distinct trends were explained by calculating the two-photon absorption probability considering the intrapulse interference mechanism, taking into account the two-photon absorption spectrum of the samples. Our results indicate that tuning the relative position between the nonlinear absorption and the pulse spectrum can be used as a novel strategy to optimize the two-photon absorption in broadband molecular systems.  相似文献
