An analysis of thermochemical and kinetic data on the bromination of the halomethanes CH4–nXn (X = F, Cl, Br; n = 1–3), the two chlorofluoromethanes, CH2FCl and CHFCl2, and CH4, shows that the recently reported heats of formation of the radicals CH2Cl, CHCl2, CHBr2, and CFCl2, and the C? H bond dissociation energies in the matching halomethanes are not compatible with the activation energies for the corresponding reverse reactions. From the observed trends in CH4 and the other halomethanes, the following revised ΔH°f,298 (R) values have been derived: ΔH°f(CH2Cl) = 29.1 ± 1.0, ΔH°f(CHCl2) = 23.5 ± 1.2, ΔHf(CH2Br) = 40.4 ± 1.0, ΔH°f(CHBr2) = 45.0 ± 2.2, and ΔH°f(CFCl2) = ?21.3 ± 2.4 kcal mol?1. The previously unavailable radical heat of formation, ΔH°f(CHFCl) = ?14.5 ± 2.4 kcal mol?1 has also been deduced. These values are used with the heats of formation of the parent compounds from the literature to evaluate C? H and C? X bond dissociation energies in CH3Cl, CH2Cl2, CH3Br, CH2Br2, CH2FCl, and CHFCl2.  相似文献

The kinetics and equilibrium of the gas-phase reaction of CH3CF2Br with I2 were studied spectrophotometrically from 581 to 662°K and determined to be consistent with the following mechanism: A least squares analysis of the kinetic data taken in the initial stages of reaction resulted in log k1 (M?1 · sec?1) = (11.0 ± 0.3) - (27.7 ± 0.8)/θ where θ = 2.303 RT kcal/mol. The error represents one standard deviation. The equilibrium data were subjected to a “third-law” analysis using entropies and heat capacities estimated from group additivity to derive ΔHr° (623°K) = 10.3 ± 0.2 kcal/mol and ΔHrr (298°K) = 10.2 ± 0.2 kcal/mol. The enthalpy change at 298°K was combined with relevant bond dissociation energies to yield DH°(CH3CF2 - Br) = 68.6 ± 1 kcal/mol which is in excellent agreement with the kinetic data assuming that E2 = 0 ± 1 kcal/mol, namely; DH°(CH3CF2 - Br) = 68.6 ± 1.3 kcal/mol. These data also lead to ΔHf°(CH3CF2Br, g, 298°K) = -119.7 ± 1.5 kcal/mol.  相似文献

The kinetics and mechanisms of the unimolecular decompositions of phenyl methyl sulfide (PhSCH3) and benzyl methyl sulfide (PhCH2SCH3) have been studied at very low pressures (VLPP). Both reactions essentially proceed by simple carbon-sulfur bond fission into the stabilized phenylthio (PhS·) and benzyl (PhCH2·) radicals, respectively. The bond dissociation energies BDE(PhS-CH3) = 67.5 ± 2.0 kcal/mol and BDE(PhCH2-SCH3) = 59.4 ± 2 kcal/mol, and the enthalpies of formation of the phenylthio and methylthio radicals ΔH° ,298K(PhS·, g) = 56.8 ± 2.0 kcal/mol and ΔH°f, 298K(CH3S·, g) = 34.2 ± 2.0 kcal/mol have been derived from the kinetic data, and the results are compared with earlier work on the same systems. The present values reveal that the stabilization energy of the phenylthio radical (9.6 kcal/mol) is considerably smaller than that observed for the related benzyl (13.2 kcal/mol) and phenoxy (17.5 kcal/mol) radicals.  相似文献

Following our investigations on hydrogen polyoxides, herein we employed coupled cluster theory in conjunction with Dunning's correlation consistent basis sets and density functional theory to study HOOOOOH (H2O5). The infrared spectra of H2O5 and its three deuterated isotopologues, as well as those of the five single‐substituted 18O isotopologues are discussed in detail. Internal valence coordinates were employed to classify the vibrational modes. The Raman activity is reported to help in the identification of hydrogen pentoxide. The suggested enthalpy of formation is ΔHf,298° (HOOOOH) = 1.4 ± 1.5 kcal/mol. This value includes corrections for relativistic and core‐valence effects as well as anharmonic corrections to Zero‐point energy corrections. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献

A kinetic study has been made of the gas phase, I2-catalyzed decomposition of (CH3)2S at 630–650 K. Some I2 is consumed initially, reaching a steady-state concentration. The initial major products are CH4 and CH2S together with small amounts of CH3SCH2I, CH3I, HI, and CS2. The initial reaction corresponds to a pseudo-equilibrium: accompanied by: and which brings (I2) into steady state and a final complex reaction: From the initial rate of I2 loss it is possible to obtain Arrhenius parameters for the iodination: We measure k1, (644 K) = 150 L/mol s and from both the Arrhenius plot and independent estimates A1 (644 K) = 1011.2 ± 0.3 L/mol s. Thus, E1 = 26.7 ± 1 kcal/mol. From the steady-state I2 concentration, an assumed mechanism and the known rate parameters for the CH3I/HI system. It is possible to deduce KA (644) = 3.8 × 10?2 with an uncertainty of a factor of 2. Using an estimated ΔS (644) = 4.2 ± 1.0 e.u. we find ΔHA (644) = 7.0 ± 1.1 kcal. With 〈ΔCPA〉644 = 1.2 this becomes: ΔHA(298) = 6.6 ± 1.1 kcal/mol. Then ΔH (CH3SCH2I) = 6.3 ± 1 kcal/mol. Making the assumption that E?1 = 1.0 ± 0.5 kcal/mol we find ΔH (644) = 25.7 ± 0.7 kcal/mol and with 〈ΔCPI〉 = 1.2; ΔH = 25.3 ± 0.8 kcal/mol. This gives ΔH (CH3S?H2) = 35.6 ± 1.0 kcal/mol and DH (CH3SCH2? H) = 96.6 ± 1.0 kcal/mol. This then yields Eπ(CH2S) = 52 ± 3 kcal. From the observed rate of pressure increase in the system and the preceding data k3, is calculated for the step CH3SCH2 → CH3 + CH2S. From an estimated A-factor E3 is deduced and from the overall thermochemistry values for k?3 and E?3. A detailed mechanism is proposed for the I-atom catalyzed conversion of CH2S to CS2 + CH4.  相似文献

The thermal unimolecular decomposition of 2-phenylethylamine (PhCH2CH2NH2) into benzyl and aminomethyl radicals has been studied under very-low-pressure conditions, and the enthalpy of formation of the aminomethyl radicals, ΔH°f, 298K (H2NCH2·) = 37.0 ± 2.0 kcal/mol, has been derived from the kinetic data. This result leads to a value for the C—H bond dissociation energy in methylamine, BDE(H2NCH2—H) = 94.6 ± 2.0 kcal/mol, which is about 3.4 kcal/mol lower than in C2H6 (98 kcal/mol), indicating a sizable stabilization in α-aminoalkyl radicals.  相似文献

The kinetics and equilibria in the system Br + t-BuO2H ? HBr + t-BuO2· have been measured in the range of 300–350 K using the very low pressure reactor (VLPR) technique. Using an estimated entropy change in reaction (1) ΔS1 = 3.0 ± 0.4 cal/mol·K together with the measured ΔG1, we find ΔH1 = 1.9 ± 0.2 kcal/mol and DHº (t-BuO2-H) = 89.4 ± 0.2 kcal/mol ΔHf·(tBuO2·) = 20.7 kcal/mol and DHº (t-Bu-O2) = 29.1 kcal/mol. The latter values make use of recent values of ΔHf·(t-Bu) = 8.4 ± 0.5 kcal/mol and the known thermochemistry of the other species. The activation energy E1 is found to be 3.3 ± 0.6 kcal/mol, about 1 kcal lower than the value found for Br attack on H2O2. It suggests a bond 1 kcal stronger in H2O2 than in tBuO2H.  相似文献

The bimolecular rate constant for the direct reaction of chlorine atoms with methane was measured at 25°C by using the very-low-pressure-pyrolysis technique. The rate constant was found to be In addition, the ratio k1/k?1 was observed with about 25% accuracy: K1(298) = 1.3 ± 0.3. This gives a heat of formation of the methyl radical ΔH° f 298(CH3) = 35.1 ± 0.15 kcal/mol. A bond dissociation energy BDE (CH3 ? H) = 105.1 ± 0.15 kcal/mol in good agreement with literature values was obtained.  相似文献

Thermodynamic properties (ΔH°f(298), S°(298) and Cp(T) from 300 to 1500 K) for reactants, adducts, transition states, and products in reactions of CH3 and C2H5 with Cl2 are calculated using CBSQ//MP2/6‐311G(d,p). Molecular structures and vibration frequencies are determined at the MP2/6‐311G(d,p), with single‐point calculations for energy at QCISD(T)/6‐311 + G(d,p), MP4(SDQ)/CbsB4, and MP2/CBSB3 levels of calculation with scaled vibration frequencies. Contributions of rotational frequencies for S°(298) and Cp(T)'s are calculated based on rotational barrier heights and moments of inertia using the method of Pitzer and Gwinn [1]. Thermodynamic parameters, ΔH°f(298), S°(298), and CP(T), are evaluated for C1 and C2 chlorocarbon molecules and radicals. These thermodynamic properties are used in evaluation and comparison of Cl2 + R· → Cl· + RCl (defined forward direction) reaction rate constants from the kinetics literature for comparison with the calculations. Data from some 20 reactions in the literature show linearity on a plot of Eafwd vs. ΔHrxn,fwd, yielding a slope of (0.38 ± 0.04) and intercept of (10.12 ± 0.81) kcal/mole. A correlation of average Arrhenius preexponential factor for Cl· + RCl → Cl2 + R· (reverse rxn) of (4.44 ± 1.58) × 1013 cm3/mol‐sec on a per‐chlorine basis is obtained with EaRev = (0.64 ± 0.04) × ΔHrxn,Rev + (9.72 ± 0.83) kcal/mole, where EaRev is 0.0 if ΔHrxn,Rev is more than 15.2 kcal/mole exothermic. Kinetic evaluations of literature data are also performed for classes of reactions. Eafwd = (0.39 ± 0.11) × ΔHrxn,fwd + (10.49 ± 2.21) kcal/mole and average Afwd = (5.89 ± 2.48) × 1012 cm3/mole‐sec for hydrocarbons: Eafwd = (0.40 ± 0.07) × ΔHrxn,fwd + (10.32 ± 1.31) kcal/mole and average Afwd = (6.89 ± 2.15) × 1011 cm3/mole‐sec for C1 chlorocarbons: Eafwd = (0.33 ± 0.08) × ΔHrxn,fwd + (9.46 ± 1.35) kcal/mole and average Afwd = (4.64 ± 2.10) × 1011 cm3/mole‐sec for C2 chlorocarbons. Calculation results on the methyl and ethyl reactions with Cl2 show agreement with the experimental data after an adjustment of +2.3 kcal/mole is made in the calculated negative Ea's. © 2000 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. The thermal unimolecular decomposition of three vinylethers has been studied in a VLPP apparatus. The high-pressure rate constant for the retro-ene reaction of ethylvinylether was fit by log k (sec?1) = (11.47 + 0.25) - (43.4 ± 1.0)/2.303 RT at <T> = 900 K and that of t - butylvinylether by log k (sec?1) = (12.00 ± 0.27) - (38.4 ± 1.0)/2.303 RT at <T> = 800 K. No evidence for the competition of the higher energy homolytic bond-fission process could be obtained from the experimental data. The rate constant compatible with the C? O bond scission reaction in the case of benzylvinylether was log k (sec?1) = (16.63 ± 0.30) - (53.74 ± 1.0)/2.303 RT at <T> = 750 K. Together with ΔHf,3000(benzyl·) = 47.0 kcal/mol, the activation energy for this reaction results in ΔHf,3000(CH2CHO) = +3.0 ± 2.0 kcal/mol and a corresponding resonance stabilization energy of 3.2 ± 2.0 kcal/mol for 2-ethanalyl radical.  相似文献

The kinetics of the gas-phase thermal iodination of hydrogen sulfide by I2 to yield HSI and HI has been investigated in the temperature range 555–595 K. The reaction was found to proceed through an I atom and radical chain mechanism. Analysis of the kinetic data yields log k (l/mol·sec) = (11.1 ± 0.18) – (20.5 ± 0.44)/θ, where θ = 2.303 RT, in kcal/mol. Combining this result with the assumption E?1 = 1 ± 1 kcal/mol and known values for the heat of formation of H2S, I2, and HI, ΔHf,2980(SH) = 33.6 ± 1.1 kcal/mol is obtained. Then one can calculate the dissociation energy of the HS? H bond as 90.5 ± 1.1 kcal/mol with the well-known values for ΔHf,2980 of H and H2S.  相似文献

Studies of the unimolecular decomposition of 4-methylpent-2-yne (M2P) and 4,4-dimethylpent-2-yne (DM2P) have been carried out over the temperature range of 903–1246 K using the technique of very-low pressure pyrolysis (VLPP). The primary reaction for both compounds is fission of the C? C bond adjacent to the acetylenic group producing the resonance-stabilized methyl-substituted propargyl radicals, CH3C??H(CH3) from M2P and CH3C?C?(CH3)2 from DM2P. RRKM calculations were performed in conjunction with both vibrational and hindered rotational models for the transition state. Employing the usual assumption of unit efficiency for gas-wall collisions, the results show that only the rotational model with a temperature-dependent hindrance parameter gives a proper fit to the VLPP data over the entire experimental temperature range. The high-pressure Arrhenius parameters at 1100 K are given by the rate expressions log k2 (sec?1) = (16.2 ± 0.3) ? (74.4 ± 1.5)/θ for M2P and log k3 (sec?1) = (16.4 ± 0.3) ? (71.4 ± 1.5)/θ for DM2P where θ = 2.303RT kcal/mol. The A factors were assigned from the results of recent shock-tube studies of related alkynes. Inclusion of a decrease in gas-wall collision efficiency with temperature would lower both activation energies by ~1 kcal/mol. The critical energies together with the assumption of zero activation energy for recombination of the product radicals at 0 K lead to DH0[CH3CCCH(CH3)? CH3] = 76.7 ± 1.5, ΔHf0[CH3CCCH(CH3)] = 65.2 ± 2.3, DH0[CH3CCCH(CH3)? H] = 87.3 ± 2.7, DH0[CH3CCC(CH3)2? CH3] = 72.5 ± 1.5, ΔH[CH3CC?(CH3)2] = 53.0 ± 2.3, and DH0[CH3CCC(CH3)2? H] = 82.3 ± 2.7, where all quantities are in kcal/mol at 300 K. The resonance stabilization energies of the 1,3-dimethylpropargyl and 1,1,3-trimethylpropargyl radicals are 7.7 ± 2.9 and 9.7 ± 2.9 kcal/mol at 300 K. Comparison with results obtained previously for other propargylic radicals indicates that methyl substituents on both the radical center and the terminal carbon atom have little effect on the propargyl resonance energy.  相似文献

By measuring the relative CO quantum yields from ketene photolysis as a function of photolysis wavelength we have determined the threshold energy at 25° for CH2CO(1A1) → CH2(3B1) + CO(1Σ+) to be 75.7 ± 1.0 kcal/mole. This corresponds to a value of 90.7 ± 1.0 kcal/mole for ΔHf2980[CH2(3B1)]. By measuring the relative ratio of CH2(1A1)/CH2(3B1) from ketene photolysis as a function of photolysis wavelength we have determined the threshold energy at 25°C for CH2CO(1A1) → CH2(1A1) + CO(1Σ+) to be 84.0 ± 0.6 kcal/mole. This corresponds to a value of 99.0 ± 0.6 kcal/mole for ΔHf2980[CH2(1A1)]. Thus a value for the CH2(3B1) ? CH2(1A1) energy splitting of 8.3 ± 1 kcal/mole is determined, which agrees with three other recent independent experimental estimates and the most recent quantum theoretical calculations.  相似文献

A kinetic analysis of the thermal decomposition of methylamino and aminomethyl radicals into methyleneimine, reactions (1) and (2): leads to ΔH(CH2?NH) = 25.0 ± 3 kcal/mol in excellent agreement with ion cyclotron resonance spectroscopy measurements and to a pi bond energy of Eπ = 55.0 kcal/mol in CH2?NH which is comparable but smaller than to the corresponding value in CH2?CH2 (63.7 kcal/mol). Assuming that Eπ(CH2?NH) = 0.5 [Eπ(CH2?CH2) + Eπ(NH?NH)] then requires that Eπ(NH?NH) = 46.8 kcal/mol in diimine and BDE(N2H3-H) = 87.5 kcal/mol i.e. about 11.5 kcal/mol larger than current data for hydrazine but otherwise consistent with additional evidence. The entropy and heat capacity of methyleneimine, calculated from recent infrared and microwave spectroscopic data using the rigid rotor harmonic oscillator approximation, are also reported.  相似文献

The kinetics and mechanism of the gas-phase reaction of Cl atoms with CH2CO have been studied with a FTIR spectrometer/smog chamber apparatus. Using relative rate methods the rate of reaction of Cl atoms with ketene was found to be independent of total pressure over the range 1–700 torr of air diluent with a rate constant of (2.7 ± 0.5) × 10−10 cm3 molecule−1 s−1 at 295 K. The reaction proceeds via an addition mechanism to give a chloroacetyl radical (CH2ClCO) which has a high degree of internal excitation and undergoes rapid unimolecular decomposition to give a CH2Cl radical and CO. Chloroacetyl radicals were also produced by the reaction of Cl atoms with CH2ClCHO; no decomposition was observed in this case. The rates of addition reactions are usually pressure dependent with the rate increasing with pressure reflecting increased collisional stabilization of the adduct. The absence of such behavior in the reaction of Cl atoms with CH2CO combined with the fact that the reaction rate is close to the gas kinetic limit is attributed to preferential decomposition of excited CH2ClCO radicals to CH2Cl radicals and CO as products as opposed to decomposition to reform the reactants. As part of this work ab initio quantum mechanical calculations (MP2/6-31G(d,p)) were used to derive ΔfH298(CH2ClCO) = −(5.4 ± 4.0) kcal mol−1. © 1996 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

The heat of formation of benzophenone oxide, Ph2CO2, was measured using photoacoustic calorimetry. The enthalpy of the reaction Ph2CN2 + O2 → Ph2CO2 + N2 was found to be ?48.0 ±0.8 kcal mol?1 and ΔHf(Ph2CN2) was determined by measuring the reaction enthalpy for Ph2CN2 + EtOH → Ph2CHOEt + N2 (?53.6 ±1.0 kcal mol?1). Taking ΔHf(PhCHOEt) = ?10.6 kcal mol?1 led to ΔHf(Ph2CN2) = 99.2 ± 1.5 kcal mol?1 and hence to ΔHf(Ph2CO2) = 51.1 ± 2.0 kcal mol?1. The results imply that the self-reaction of benzophenone oxide i.e., 2Ph2CO2 → 2Ph2CO + O2 is exothermic by ?76.0 ±4.0 kcal mol?1.  相似文献

The gas phase reaction kinetics of OH with three di‐amine rocket fuels—N2H4, CH3NHNH2, and (CH3)2NNH2—was studied in a discharge flow tube apparatus and a pulsed photolysis reactor under pseudo‐first‐order conditions in [OH]. Direct laser‐induced fluorescence monitoring of the [OH] temporal profiles in a known excess of the [diamine] yielded the following absolute second‐order OH rate coefficient expressions; k1 = (2.17 ± 0.39) × 10?11 e(160±30)/T, k2 = (4.59 ± 0.83) × 10?11 e(85±35)/T and k3 = (3.35 ± 0.60) × 10?11 e(175±25)/T cm3 molec?1 s?1, respectively, for reactions with N2H4, CH3NHNH2 and (CH3)2NNH2 in the temperature range 232–637 K. All three reactions did not show any discernable pressure dependence on He or N2 buffer gas pressure of up to 530 torr. The magnitude of the weak temperature and the lack of pressure effects of the OH + N2H4 reaction rate coefficient suggest that a simple direct metathesis of H‐atom may not be important compared to addition of the OH to one of the N‐centers of the diamine skeleton, followed by rapid dissociation of the intermediate into products. Our findings on this reaction are qualitatively consistent with a previous ab initio study [ 3 ]. However, in the alkylated diamines, direct H‐abstraction from the methyl moiety cannot be completely ruled out. © 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Int J Chem Kinet 33: 354–362, 2001  相似文献

A study of the reaction initiated by the thermal decomposition of di-t-butyl peroxide (DTBP) in the presence of (CH3)2C?CH2 (B) at 391–444 K has yielded kinetic data on a number of reactions involving CH3 (M·), (CH3)2CCH2CH3 (MB·) and (CH3)2?CH2C(CH3)2CH2CH3 (MBB·) radicals. The cross-combination ratio for M· and MB· radicals, rate constants for the addition to B of M· and MB· radicals relative to those for their recombination reactions, and rate constants for the decomposition of DTBP, have been determined. The values are, respectively, where θ = RT ln 10 and the units are dm3/2 mol?1/2 s?1/2 for k2/k and k9/k, s?1 for k0, and kJ mol?1 for E. Various disproportionation-combination ratios involving M·, MB·, and MBB· radicals have been evaluated. The values obtained are: Δ1(M·, MB·) = 0.79 ± 0.35, Δ1(MB·, MB·) = 3.0 ± 1.0, Δ1(MBB·, MB·) = 0.7 ± 0.4, Δ1(M·, MBB·) = 4.1 ± 1.0, Δ1(MB·, MBB·) = 6.2 ± 1.4, and Δ1(MBB·, MBB·) = 3.9 ± 2.3, where Δ1 refers to H-abstraction from the CH3 group adjacent to the center of the second radical, yielding a 1-olefin. © 1994 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

Heats of formation of BrONO2, BrONO, BrOOH, FOOH, FOOCl, CF3C(O)OOH, HC(O)OOH, CH3C(O)OOH, and [CH3C(O)O]2 are estimated from bond contributions taken from J. Phys. Chem., 100, 10150 (1996). They agree within ±2 kcal/mol with recent experimental or ab initio data. The resulting BDE(O(SINGLEBOND)O)=36 kcal/mol value in diacetyl peroxide requires the concerted assistance of exothermic C(SINGLEBOND)C(O) weakening in the transition state of its decomposition into free radicals. It also implies the existence of a previously unrecognized 12 kcal/mol nonbonded repulsion in acyl anhydrides. The formation of chloryl chlorate with ΔHf(O2ClOClO2)=50 kcal/mol, a marginally stable species toward dissociation into (ClO3+OClO), may account for observations made in the [O(3P+OClO] system at low temperatures. © 1998 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
