Herein we present the first hexapole [9]helicene ( H9H ). Co‐catalyzed [2+2+2] cyclotrimerization of a dinaphthopyrene (DNP) functionalized alkyne provides the hexaaryl benzene precursor 2 , which is transformed into H9H via a dehydrocyclization reaction. Formation of each embedded [9]helicene involves forging of a new C?C bond, which stitches together two [4]helicene subunits of the neighboring DNP blades, reminiscent of the initial method Martin developed for the preparation of [9]helicene in the 1960s. Single‐crystal X‐ray analysis of both 2 and H9H discloses their extremely distorted and crowded structural features. Chiral resolution, optical and electronic properties of H9H are also presented.  相似文献

The enantioselective synthesis of completely ortho‐fused [9]‐ and [11]helicene‐like molecules has been achieved through a rhodium‐mediated, intramolecular, double [2+2+2] cycloaddition of phenol‐ or 2‐naphthol‐linked hexaynes. Crystal structures and photophysical properties of these [9]‐ and [11]helicene‐like molecules have also been disclosed.  相似文献

An S‐shaped double helicene‐like molecule (>99 % ee), possessing stable helical chirality, has been synthesized by the rhodium(I)/difluorphos complex‐catalyzed highly diastereo‐ and enantioselective intramolecular double [2+2+2] cycloaddition of a 2‐naphthol‐ and benzene‐linked hexayne. The collision between two terminal naphthalene rings destabilizes the helical chirality of the S‐shaped double helicene‐like molecule, but the introduction of two additional fused benzene rings significantly increases the configurational stability. Thus, no epimerization and racemization were observed even at 100 °C. The enantiopure S‐shaped double helicene‐like molecule forms a trimer through the multiple C?H???π and C?H???O interactions in the solid‐state. The trimers stack to form columnar packing structures, in which neighboring stacks have opposite dipole directions. The accumulation of helical structures in the same direction in the S‐shaped double helicene‐like molecule enhanced the chiroptical properties.  相似文献

A new short‐step synthesis of 8a‐azonia[6]helicene (1) and the novel dithieno derivatives ( 2 and 3 ) is described. Double photocyclization of 2,8‐distyrylquinolizinium salt (8) gave 1 in 35% yield. Similarly, 2,8‐bis[2‐(2‐thienyl)vinyl]‐ and 2,8‐bis[2‐(3‐thienyl)vinyl]‐quinolizinium salts ( 9 and 10 ) afforded new azonia[6]helicenes containing two thiophene rings at the ends of helix, that is 7a‐azonia‐3,12‐dithia[6]helicene (2) and 7a‐azonia‐1,14‐dithia[6]helicene (3) , in 43 and 35% yields, respectively. The total assignment of their 1H‐ and 13C‐nmr spectra was performed by utilizing two‐dimensional and NOE nmr spectroscopic methods.  相似文献

Synthesis of new azonia derivatives of thia[6]helicene ( 1 ) and thia[7]helicene ( 2 ) is described. The Knoevenagel condensation of 2‐methylbenzothieno[3,2‐a]quinolizinium salt ( 8 ) with appropriate arylaldehydes yielded 2‐(arylvinyl)benzothieno[3,2‐a]quinolizinium salts ( 9 and 10 ), respectively. Photocyclization of 2‐styrylbenzothieno[3,2‐a]quinolizinium salt ( 8 ) gave 7a‐azonia‐5‐thia[6]helicene ( 1 ) in 63% yield. Similarly, 2‐[2‐(2‐naphthyl)vinyl]benzothieno[3,2‐a]quinolizinium salt ( 10 ) afforded 7a‐azonia‐5‐thia[7]helicene ( 2 ) in 56% yield. The complete and unambiguous assignment of their 1H‐ and 13C‐nmr spectra was performed by utilizing two‐dimensional nmr spectroscopic methods.  相似文献

Two types of ruthenocenes and a ferrocene coordinated by rac ‐9H ‐cyclopenta[1,2‐c :4,3‐c ′]diphenanthrenyl anion(s), a [7]helicene with a cyclopentadienyl moiety at the center of its skeleton, were successfully synthesized: mono‐helicene ruthenocene 1 and its iron analogue 1Fe with one [7]helicene ligand bound to the central metal, and bis‐helicene ruthenocene 2 with two [7]helicenes. Starting from a racemic mixture of the ligand precursor, rac ‐ 2 and meso ‐ 2 were obtained in a 7:3 ratio. Since the [7]helicene has a high racemization barrier, enantiomers of the complexes were isolated in their pure forms; they showed large optical rotations and intense circular dichroism (CD) responses.  相似文献

Oxidative fusion reactions of ortho ‐phenylene‐bridged cyclic hexapyrroles and hexathiophenes furnished novel closed helicenes in a selective manner. X‐Ray diffraction analysis unambiguously revealed the structures to be a closed pentaaza[9]helicene, the longest azahelicene reported so far, and an unexpected double‐helical structure of hexathia[9]/[5]helicene, whose formation was assumed to result from multiple oxidative fusion along with a 1,2‐aryl shift. The pentaaza[9]helicene exhibited well‐defined emission with high fluorescence quantum yield (Φ F=0.31) among the known [9]helicenes. Chiral resolution of the racemic pentaaza[9]helicene and hexathia[9]/[5]helicene were achieved by chiral‐phase HPLC and the enantiomers were characterized by circular dichroism spectra and DFT calculations.  相似文献

A tetrathia‐[7]‐helicene bearing in the 2 and 13 positions cyanovinyl groups was used as comonomer in the Michael‐type polyaddition reaction with N,N′‐bis(β‐mercaptoethyl)piperazine. This led to a new polymer bearing tetrathia‐[7]‐helicene units regularly distributed along the polymer backbone, which may be regarded as the first example of a new family of potentially useful nonlinear optical materials. All products were structurally characterized by 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopy. Differential scanning calorimetry characterizations revealed the presence, in both monomeric and polymeric helicenes, of glass‐transition like temperatures, associated to some conformational variation of the helicene units. The optical properties, the film formation and the morphology of the polymer‐containing tetratia‐[7]‐helicenes were also investigated. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Homochiral and heterochiral cis‐bis‐cycloplatinated‐[6]helicene derivatives 1 b1, 2 , as representative examples of platina[6]helicenes that share a common platinum center, have been prepared. A diastereo‐ and enantioselective synthesis, which combines CH activation and dynamic isomerization from heterochiral structure 1 b2 into homochiral structure 1 b1 , is also described. Overall, this isomerization process results in the transfer of chiral information from one helicene moiety to the other one. The chiroptical properties of homochiral (P)‐ and (M)‐ 1 b1 were greatly modified upon oxidation into their corresponding (P)‐ and (M)‐diiodo‐PtIV complexes ( 5 ). The changes were also analyzed by performing theoretical calculations. C? H activation in the synthesis of organometallic helicenes is further demonstrated by the preparation of cis‐bis‐cycloplatinated‐[8]helicene 1 c .  相似文献

In pursuit of a neutral bistable [2]rotaxane made up of two tetraarylmethane stoppers--both carrying one isopropyl and two tert-butyl groups located at the para positions on each of three of the four aryl rings--known to permit the slippage of the pi-electron-donating 1,5-dinaphtho[38]crown-10 (1/5DNP38C10) at the thermodynamic instigation of pi-electron-accepting recognition sites, in this case, pyromellitic diimide (PmI) and 1,4,5,8-naphthalenetetracarboxylate diimide (NpI) units separated from each other along the rod section of the rotaxane's dumbbell component, and from the para positions of the fourth aryl group of the two stoppers by pentamethylene chains, a modular approach was employed in the synthesis of the dumbbell-shaped compound NpPmD, as well as of its two degenerate counterparts, one (PmPmD) which contains two PmI units and the other (NpNpD) which contains two NpI units. The bistable [2]rotaxane NpPmR, as well as its two degenerate analogues PmPmR and NpNpR, were obtained from the corresponding dumbbell-shaped compounds NpPmD, PmPmD, and NpNpD and 1/5DNP38C10 by slippage. Dynamic 1H NMR spectroscopy in CD2Cl2 revealed that shuttling of the 1/5DNP38C10 ring occurs in NpNpR and PmPmR, with activation barriers of 277 K of 14.0 and 10.9 kcal mol(-1), respectively, reflecting a much more pronounced donor-acceptor stabilizing interaction involving the NpI units over the PmI ones. The photophysical and electrochemical properties of the three neutral [2]rotaxanes and their dumbbell-shaped precursors have also been investigated in CH2Cl2. Interactions between 1/5DNP38C10 and PmI and NpI units located within the rod section of the dumbbell components of the [2]rotaxane give rise to the appearance of charge-transfer bands, the energies of which correlate with the electron-accepting properties of the two diimide moieties. Comparison between the positions of the visible absorption bands in the three [2]rotaxanes shows that, in NpPmR, the major translational isomer is the one in which 1/5DNP38C10 encircles the NpI unit. Correlations of the reduction potentials for all the compounds studied confirm that, in this non-degenerate [2]rotaxane, one of the translational isomers predominates. Furthermore, after deactivation of the NpI unit by one-electron reduction, the 1/5DNP38C10 macrocycle moves to the PmI unit. Li+ ions have been found to strengthen the interaction between the electron-donating crown ether and the electron-accepting diimide units, particularly the PmI one. Titration experiments show that two Li+ ions are involved in the strengthening of the donor-acceptor interaction. Addition of Li+ ions to NpPmR induces the 1/5DNP38C10 macrocycle to move from the NpI to the PmI unit. The Li+-ion-promoted switching of NpPmR in a 4:1 mixture of CD2Cl2 and CD3COCD3 has also been shown by 1H NMR spectroscopy to involve the mechanical movement of the 1/5DNP38C10 macrocycle from the NpI to the PmI unit, a process that can be reversed by adding an excess of [12]crown-4 to sequester the Li+ ions.  相似文献

An efficient route to the synthesis of benzo[5]helicene derivatives functionalized on the interior side of the helix was developed, and resulted in a series of 1,16‐diaryl‐substituted benzo[5]helicene derivatives starting from easily available 7‐methoxytetralone. X‐ray crystal structures showed that the benzo[5]helicene derivatives had highly helical, twisted structures, and could all create hierarchical packing architectures with alternating P and M layers in the solid state. Moreover, seven pairs of enantiomers based on 1,16‐diaryl‐substituted benzo[5]helicene derivatives were also obtained by efficient resolution through HPLC with semipreparative chiral columns. The enantiomers all showed clear mirror‐image circular dichroism (CD) spectra and high specific optical rotations, and their absolute configurations were determined by X‐ray crystallography. Interestingly, a helical nanotubular structure was formed by the self‐assembly of one enantiomer through halogen bonding. Furthermore, the enantiomers were found to have high racemization barriers and thermostability, which might be caused by the introduction of aryl substituents at the C1(C16) position.  相似文献

An original approach to helicene frameworks exploiting atom economic isomerization of appropriate energy-rich aromatic cis,cis-dienetriynes has been developed. The new paradigm provides nonphotochemical syntheses of helicenes based on the easy, convergent, and modular assembly of key cis,cis-dienetriynes and their nickel(0)-catalyzed [2+2+2] cycloisomerization. The potential of the methodology is underlined by the syntheses of the parent [5]helicene (2), 7,8-dibutyl[5]helicene (23), [6]helicene (24), and [7]helicene (25). The approach can be adapted to prepare functionalized helicenes as exemplified by the eight-step synthesis of 7,8-dibutyl-2,3-dimethoxy[6]helicene (34). Density functional theory (DFT) calculations showed that bis[2-((1Z)-1-buten-3-ynyl)phenyl]acetylene (1) and isomeric [5]helicene (2) differ enormously in the Gibbs energy content (DeltaG = -136.6 kcal x mol(-1)) to favor highly the devised intramolecular simultaneous construction of three aromatic rings.  相似文献

A novel one‐pot [4+2]‐benzannulation approach to substituted carbazoles is accomplished by acid‐catalyzed C3‐propargylation of 2‐alkenyl/aryl indoles with 1‐aryl propargylic alcohols, followed by cycloisomerization. A variety of 2‐alkenylated indoles and 2‐aryl/heteroaryl indoles successfully participated in this tandem reaction with 1‐aryl/heteroaryl propargylic alcohols to provide diversely substituted and annulated carbazoles, as well as an aza[5]helicene.  相似文献

Helicenes combine two central themes in chemistry: extended π-conjugation and chirality. Hetero-atom doping preserves both characteristics and allows modulation of the electronic structure of a helicene. Herein, we report the (BO)2-doped tetrathia[7]helicene 1 , which was prepared from 2-methoxy-3,3′-bithiophene in four steps. 1 is formally derived by substituting two (Mes)B−O moieties in place of (H)C=C(H) fragments in two benzene rings of the parent tetrathia[7]helicene. X-ray crystallography revealed a dihedral angle of 50.26(9)° between the two terminal thiophene rings. The (P)-/(M)- 1 enantiomers were separated by chiral HPLC and are configurationally stable at room temperature. The experimentally determined enantiomerization barrier of 27.4±0.1 kcal mol−1 is lower than that of tetrathia[7]helicene (39.4±0.1 kcal mol−1). The circular dichroism spectra of (P)- and (M)- 1 show a perfect mirror-image relationship. 1 is a blue emitter (λem=411 nm) with a photoluminescence quantum efficiency of ΦPL=6 % (cf. tetrathia[7]helicene: λem≈405 nm, ΦPL=5 %).  相似文献

A series of oxahelicenes composed of ortho/meta-annulated benzene/pyridine and 2H-pyran rings were synthesized on the basis of the cobalt(I)-mediated (or rhodium(I)- or nickel(0)-mediated) double, triple, or quadruple [2+2+2] cycloisomerization of branched aromatic hexa-, nona-, or dodecaynes, thus allowing the construction of 6, 9, or 12 rings in a single operation. The use of a flow reactor was found to be beneficial for the multicyclization reactions. The stereogenic centers present in some of the oligoynes steered the helical folding in such a way that the final oxa[9]-, [13]-, [17]- and [19]helicenes were obtained in both enantiomerically and diastereomerically pure form. Specifically, the oxa[19]helicenes beat the current record in the length of a helicene backbone. Single-molecule conductivity was studied by the mechanically controllable break-junction method with a pyridooxa[9]helicene.  相似文献

A cobalt‐mediated [2+2+2] cycloisomerisation of ynedinitriles to helical pyridazines in good to high yields was developed. The construction of the pyridazine nucleus from one alkyne and two nitrile units is proposed to follow either a conventional organometallic mechanism or to be triggered by a single‐electron transfer from a CoII species. Herein we demonstrate the synthesis of a helicene‐based imidazolium salt. The salt was prepared by starting from racemic 2‐methyl[6]helicene, which undergoes radical bromination to yield 2‐(bromomethyl)[6]helicene. Subsequent treatment with 1‐butylimidazole leads to the corresponding salt 1‐butyl‐3‐(2‐methyl[6]helicenyl)‐imidazolium bromide. The prepared salt was subsequently characterized by using NMR spectroscopy and X‐ray analysis, various optical spectrometric techniques, and computational chemistry tools. Finally, the imidazolium salt was immobilized onto a SiO2 substrate as a crystalline or amorphous deposit. The deposited layers were used for the development of organic molecular semiconductor devices and the construction of a fully reversible humidity sensor.  相似文献

The synthesis and characterization of a novel oligothiophene, in which the thiophene rings are annelated into a [7]helicene with cross-conjugated pi-system, are described. Such [7]helicenes may be viewed as fragments of the unprecedented carbon-sulfur (C(2)S)(n)() helix, possessing sulfur-rich molecular periphery. Racemic synthesis of [7]helicene is based upon iterative alternation of two steps: C-C bond homocouplings between the beta-positions of thiophenes and annelation between the alpha-positions of thiophenes. Asymmetric synthesis is carried out using (-)-sparteine-mediated annelation of the axially chiral bis(aryllithium) with electrophilic sulfur equivalent. Alternatively, enantiomers of the [7]helicene are obtained via resolution using menthol-based chiral siloxanes. Racemic [7]helicene and four other macrocyclic products of the annelation are characterized by X-ray crystallography. One of the solvent polymorphs of the [7]helicene possesses pi-stacked columns of opposite enantiomers and multiple short intermolecular contacts, including both homochiral and heterochiral short S...S contacts, suggesting an effective intermolecular electronic coupling in two-dimensions. The [7]helicene is configurationally stable at room temperature and racemizes at 199 degrees C with a half-time of about 11 h. Selected physicochemical studies (UV-vis absorption, CD, optical rotation, and cyclic voltammetry) of the [7]helicene are described.  相似文献

A convenient rhodium(III)‐catalyzed cascade reaction of 7‐azaindoles and alkynes through multiple C−H bond activation for the synthesis of unique [5]azahelicenes has been developed. The optical property of these screw‐shaped helicene derivatives could be further utilized in electronic devices to recognize mercury ions.  相似文献

Electroactive fused ethylenedithio? tetrathiafulvalene? [4]helicene and ‐[6]helicenes have been synthesized through a strategy that involved the preparation of 2,3‐dibromo‐helicene derivatives as intermediates. The dihedral angles between the terminal helicenes, as determined by single‐crystal X‐ray analysis, are 22.7° and 50.7° for the [4]helicene and [6]helicene, respectively. Their solid‐state architectures show interplay between S???S and π???π intermolecular interactions. The chiroptical properties of the enantiopure EDT? TTF? [6]helicene derivatives have been investigated and supported by TDDFT calculations. Remarkable redox switching of the circular dichroism (CD) signal between the neutral and radical‐cation species has been achieved.  相似文献
