The reflection and transmission of elastic waves through a couple-stress elastic slab that is sandwiched between two couple-stress elastic half-spaces are studied in this paper. Because of the couple-stress effects, there are three types of elastic waves in the couple-stress elastic solid, two of which are dispersive. The interface conditions between two couple-stress solids involve the surface couple and rotation apart from the surface traction and displacement. The nontraditional interface conditions between the slab and two solid half-spaces are used to obtain the linear algebraic equation sets from which the amplitude ratios of reflection and transmission waves to the incident wave can be determined. Then, the energy fluxes carried by the various reflection and transmission waves are calculated numerically and the normal energy flux conservation is used to validate the numerical results. The special case, couple-stress elastic slab sandwiched by the classical elastic half-spaces, is also studied and compared with the situation that the classical elastic slab sandwiched by the classical elastic half-spaces. Incident longitudinal wave (P wave) and incident transverse wave (SV wave) are both considered. The influences of the couple-stress are mainly discussed based on the numerical results. It is found that the couple-stress mainly influences the transverse modes of elastic waves.  相似文献

Propagation of longitudinal and transverse waves in an elastic solid that contains a cracked slab region is investigated. The cracks have a uniform probability density in the slab region, are parallel to the boundaries of the slab, and the solid is uncracked on either side of the slab. The waves are normally incident on the cracks. It is shown that the resulting average total motion in the solid is governed by a pair of coupled integral equations. These equations are solved under the special assumption that the average exciting motion near a fixed crack is equal to the average total motion. In this case, one finds that in the cracked region, where multiple scattering occurs, there is a forward motion and a backward motion. The two motions have identical frequency-dependent velocity and attenuation, for which simple closed-form formulae are obtained. Simple formulae are also obtained for the wave amplitudes outside the slab. Numerical results corresponding to the velocity, attenuation, reflection amplitude, and transmission amplitude are presented for several values of crack density and slab thickness.  相似文献

In this work, formulas for the reflection and transmission coefficients of one-dimensional linear water waves propagating over a submerged structure with a cycloidal cross section in presence of a sloping beach are determined. In the specialized literature, the previous coefficients are obtained mainly for the limit of linear water waves, considering that the water depth upstream and downstream of the structure is flat. For the analysis, we have obtained an approximate analytical solution to the dimensionless Modified Mild-Slope Equation, which models the interactions of a wide range of water waves, from short waves to long waves. The results shown that the presence of small breakwaters not always generate increments on the reflection coefficients, but on the contrary case they contribute to the reflection of the waves decreasing, which is due to the interference of energy that exists between the inclined beach and the structure. To validate the approximate analytical solution, we present a comparison against analytical solutions reported in the specialized literature, obtained with the aid of linear long wave theory, and a numerical solution, all the solutions adjust properly. Results of this study are expected to be used by coastal engineers for preliminary feasibility and desk design of submerged cycloidal breakwaters.  相似文献

研究了在线性连续分层流体中水波与半潜式刚性垂直薄板相互作用的问题. 在 Boussinesq近似下,基于分离变量法,导出了具有自由面的平面前进波的色散关系,建立 了半潜式刚性垂直薄板的反射与透射能量、水平波浪力的计算方法. 对给定的频率,当它大 于浮力频率时,流场中只有一种模态的平面前进波,当它小于浮力频率时,流场 中有无数多个模态的平面前进波,并证明了对每一种模态的入射波,其它每个模态水波的反射与透射能量是 相等的. 对水面漂浮和座底半潜式薄板的反射与透射能量,以及作用在薄板上的水平波浪力 进行了数值计算分析,表明了流体的线性连续分层效应对这些水动力的影响是不可忽视 的. 特别地,在入射波频率小于浮力频率时,与第1模态入射波的能量转化量及其对薄板产 生的水平波浪力相比,其它模态入射波的能量转化量及其对薄板产生的水平波浪力都要大得 多.  相似文献

Reflection of internal waves at an interface between the mixed layer and a stratified fluid under the layer is investigated experimentally. Reflection coefficients of the internal waves and transmission coefficients of interfacial waves are obtained for the case in which the interfacial waves propagate along the interface. In order to reveal the energy budget of the two kinds of waves, the above reflection and transmission coefficients are employed in consideration of dissipation of the waves. These coefficients are investigated for different values of a ratio of the frequencies of the interfacial and internal waves. When the ratio is , 1 or 2 at the same horizontal wavenumber, overreflection takes place (i.e., reflection coefficient > 1), while under the same condition the transmission coefficient of the interfacial wave is less than unity. This indicates that the energy source of the overreflection of the internal wave is the interfacial wave. Overreflection also takes place when the two waves have the same frequencies and are in phase. On the other hand, the interfacial wave overtransmits the energy (i.e., transmission coefficient > 1) when the two waves are out of phase.  相似文献

The transmission and reflection of one-component elastic, acoustic, optical waves on a stack of arbitrary number of different homogeneous layers have been intensively studied in the literature. However, all obtained formulas for the reflection and transmission coefficients are in implicit form. In this paper, we provide the explicit formulas for them. From these formulas we immediately arrive at the explicit formulas for the reflection and transmission coefficients of one-component waves through an FGM layer. Based on the obtained exact formulas, approximate formulas for the reflection and transmission coefficients are established for a stack of thin layers and for a thin FGM layer. It is numerically shown that they are good approximations. Since the obtained formulas are totally explicit, they are useful in evaluating, not only numerically but also analytically, the transmission and reflection coefficients of one-component waves.  相似文献

Scattering of elastic waves by a moving slab is considered. Two cases corresponding to strong contact and good lubrication are treated. It is shown that the motion introduces new effective compressional and shear wave velocities in the moving slab. The amplitude of the reflection and transmission coefficients are given for various angles of incidence, frequencies and velocities of motion.  相似文献

Problems for transient line and point load sources in a multilayered elastic medium may be treated by the method of generalized ray. In this method an integral representation of the Laplace-transformed multiply reflected and/or transmitted cylindrical/spherical wave, known as a ray integral, is constructed by linear superposition of the Laplace-transformed plane waves. The inverse Laplace transform of the ray integral can be found in closed form by applying the Cagniard method. For problems in the Cartesian coordinates for line load sources emitting cylindrical waves consistent with either the plane strain conditions or the antiplane strain conditions and for problems in the cylindrical coordinates for axisymmetric and asymmetric point load sources emanating spherical waves, it is well known that: (1) the system of incident, reflected, and transmitted cylindrical/spherical waves at an interface separating two dissimilar media can be divided into two independent of each other, if both present, parts: the coupled P and SV waves, and the SH waves, (2) the reflected and transmitted ray integrals representing the Laplace-transformed reflected and transmitted cylindrical/spherical waves can be constructed by linear superposition of the Laplace-transformed plane P and SV waves, or the plane SH waves, and (3) the potential reflection and transmission coefficients for the plane P, SV, and S H waves are basic to such a superposition. In the present paper we treat the asymmetric three-dimensional problem in the Cartesian coordinates for an arbitrary oriented point force radiating the spherical P and S waves. For this problem all four functions representing the displacement potentials are coupled in the boundary conditions at the interface, the total wave motion at the interface is composed of the coupled spherical P and S waves, and the Laplace-transformed reflected and transmitted spherical waves are therefore constructed by linear superposition of the three-dimensional coupled plane P and S waves. Since such a superposition requires the knowledge of the potential reflection and transmission coefficients for the three-dimensional coupled plane P and S waves, the purpose of the present paper is to derive systematically these coefficient formulas.  相似文献

The reflection and transmission of obliquely incident Rayleight surface waves by an interphase between two quarter spaces of identical or different materials, have been investigated. The mechanical behavior of the interphase is represented by a thin viscoelastic layer. By using the full space Green's functions due to a spatially harmonic line load, the mathematical statement of the 3-dimension problem is reduced to a 2-dimension system of singular integral equations. The far-field behavior of the scattered waves leads to the definition of reflection and transmission coefficients,R andT. The system of the singular integral equations are solved forR andT with the boundary element method. The results are presented for selected values of the elastic constants of the joined quarter spaces, the parameters of the interphase and the incident angles of Rayleigh surface waves.  相似文献

The possibility of plane wave propagation in a micropolar fluid of infinite extent has been explored. The reflection and transmission of longitudinal elastic wave at a plane interface between a homogeneous micropolar fluid half-space and a micropolar solid half-space has also been investigated. It is found that there can exist four plane waves propagating with distinct phase speeds in an infinite micropolar fluid. All the four waves are found to be dispersive and attenuated. The reflection and transmission coefficients are found to be the functions of the angle of incidence, the elastic properties of the half-spaces and the frequency of the incident wave. The expressions of energy ratios have also been obtained in explicit form. Frequency equation for the Stoneley wave at micropolar solid/fluid interface has also been derived in the form of sixth-order determinantal expression, which is found in full agreement with the corresponding result of inviscid liquid/elastic solid interface. Numerical computations have been performed for a specific model. The dispersion curves and attenuation of the existed waves in micropolar fluid have been computed and depicted graphically. The variations of various amplitudes and energy ratios are also shown against the angle of incidence. Results of some earlier workers have been deduced from the present formulation.  相似文献

A study has been made of the propagation of time harmonic waves through a one-dimensional medium of discrete scatterers randomly positioned over a finite interval L. The random medium is modeled by a Poisson impulse process with density λ. The invariant imbedding procedure is employed to obtain a set of initial value stochastic differential equations for the field inside the medium and the reflection coefficient of the layer. By using the Markov properties of the Poisson impulse process. exact integro-differential equations of the Kolmogorov-Feller type are derived for the probability density function of the reflection coefficient and the field. When the concentration of the scatterers is low, a two variable perturbation method in small λ is used to obtain an approximate solution for the mean field. It is shown that this solution, which varies exponentially with respect to λL, agrees exactly with the mean field obtained by Feldy's approximate method.  相似文献

We cloak a region from a known incident wave by surrounding the region with three or more devices that cancel out the field in the cloaked region without significantly radiating waves. Since very little waves reach scatterers within the cloaked region, the scattered field is small and the scatterers are for all practical purposes undetectable. The devices are multipolar point sources that can be determined from Green's formula and an addition theorem for Hankel functions. The cloaking devices are exterior to the cloaked region.  相似文献

Based on the poroelasticity theory, this article investigates the reflection and transmission characteristics of an incident plane transverse wave at a plane interface between an isotropic elastic half-space and an unsaturated poroelastic solid half-space. For this purpose, the effect of the saturation degree and frequency on the properties of the four bulk waves in unsaturated porous medium, i.e., three longitudinal waves and one transverse wave, are discussed at first. Two general cases of mode conversion are considered: (i) The initial transverse wave is incident from an unsaturated poroelastic half-space to the interface, and (ii) the initial transverse wave is incident from an elastic solid half-space to the interface. The expressions for the partition of energy at the interface during transmission and reflection process of waves are presented in explicit forms. At last, numerical computations are performed for these two cases and the results obtained are depicted, respectively. The variation of the amplitude ratios and energy ratios with the saturation degree and incident angle is illustrated in detail. It is also verified that, at the interface, the sum of energy ratios is approximately equal to unity as expected.  相似文献

The propagation, reflection, and transmission of SH waves in slightly compressible, finitely deformed elastic media are considered in this paper. The dispersion relation for SH-wave propagation in slightly compressible, finitely deformed layer overlying a slightly compressible, finitely deformed half-space is derived. The present paper also deals with the reflection and refraction (transmission) phenomena due to the SH wave incident at the plane interface between two distinct slightly compressible, finitely deformed elastic media. The closed form expressions for the amplitude ratios of reflection and refraction coefficients of the reflected and refracted SH waves are obtained from suitable boundary conditions. For the numerical discussions, we consider the Neo-Hookean form of a strain energy function. The phase speed curves, the variations of reflection, and transmission coefficients with the angle of incidence, and the plots of the slowness sections are presented by means of graphs.  相似文献

The reflection and refraction pattern of elastic waves at a corrugated interface between two triclinic half-spaces is discussed. The incident wave is taken to be the cause of the interface disturbance and the reflected and refracted waves are effects. This leads to the causality requirement that the reflected and refracted waves must propagate away from the interface. Closed form expressions of reflection and transmission coefficients are derived using Rayleigh’s method of approximation. The formulae of reflection and transmission coefficients are derived in closed form for the first-order approximation of the corrugation. The analytical expressions of all the three phase velocities of qP, qSV and qSH waves have been derived. The variation of reflection and refraction coefficients with the angle of incidence and also with the corrugation parameter is shown. In this paper we have developed Graphical User Interface (GUI) Software in MATLAB which shows the variation of reflection and refraction coefficients with respect to incident angle and corrugation parameter. This software can be generalized to show the variation of reflection and refraction coefficients. Numerical computations are performed for a scientific model and the results obtained are shown graphically.  相似文献

The diffraction of plane surface waves by a semiinfinite floating plate in a fluid of finite depth is studied. An explicit analytical solution of the problem is obtained using the Wiener–Hopf technique. Simple exact formulas for reflection and transmission coefficients and their asymptotic expressions are derived. Results of numerical calculations using the obtained formulas are presented.  相似文献
