The adiabatic Shinnar–Le Roux (SLR) algorithm for radiofrequency (RF) pulse design enables systematic control of pulse parameters such as bandwidth, RF energy distribution and duration. Some applications, such as diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) at high magnetic fields, would benefit from RF pulses that can provide greater B1 insensitivity while adhering to echo time and specific absorption rate (SAR) limits. In this study, the adiabatic SLR algorithm was employed to generate 6-ms and 4-ms 180° semi-adiabatic RF pulses which were used to replace the refocusing pulses in a twice-refocused spin echo (TRSE) diffusion-weighted echo planar imaging (DW-EPI) sequence to create two versions of a twice-refocused adiabatic spin echo (TRASE) sequence. The two versions were designed for different trade-offs between adiabaticity and echo time. Since a pair of identical refocusing pulses is applied, the quadratic phase imposed by the first is unwound by the second, preserving the linear phase created by the excitation pulse. In vivo images of the human brain obtained at 7 Testa (7 T) demonstrate that both versions of the TRASE sequence developed in this study achieve more homogeneous signal in the diffusion-weighted images than the conventional TRSE sequence. Semi-adiabatic SLR pulses offer a more B1-insensitive solution for diffusion preparation at 7 T, while operating within SAR constraints. This method may be coupled with any EPI readout trajectory and parallel imaging scheme to provide more uniform coverage for diffusion tensor imaging at 7 T and 3 T.  相似文献

Photoelectron spectroscopy, low-energy electron diffraction, and scanning probe microscopy were used to investigate the electronic and structural properties of graphite layers grown by solid state graphitization of SiC(0 0 0 1) surfaces. The process leads to well-ordered graphite layers which are rotated against the substrate lattice by 30°. On on-axis 6H-SiC(0 0 0 1) substrates we observe graphitic layers with up to several 100 nm wide terraces. ARUPS spectra of the graphite layers grown on on-axis 6H-SiC(0 0 0 1) surfaces are indicative of a well-developed band structure. For the graphite/n-type 6H-SiC(0 0 0 1) layer system we observe a Schottky barrier height of ?B,n = 0.3 ± 0.1 eV. ARUPS spectra of graphite layers grown on 8° off-axis oriented 4H-SiC(0 0 0 1) show unique replicas which are explained by a carpet-like growth mode combined with a step bunching of the substrate.  相似文献

The effectiveness of the laser induced backside wet etching (LIBWE) of fused silica produced by subpicosecond (600 fs) and nanosecond (30 ns) KrF excimer laser pulses (248 nm) was studied. Fused silica plates were the transparent targets, and naphthalene-methyl-methacrylate (c = 0.85, 1.71 M) and pyrene-acetone (c = 0.4 M) solutions were used as liquid absorbents. We did not observe etching using 600 fs laser pulses, in contrast with the experiments at 30 ns, where etched holes were found. The threshold fluences of the LIBWE at nanosecond pulses were found to be in the range of 360-450 mJ cm−2 depending on the liquid absorbers and their concentrations. On the basis of the earlier results the LIBWE procedure can be explain by the thermal heating of the quartz target and the high-pressure bubble formation in the liquid. According to the theories, these bubbles hit and damage the fused silica surface. The pressure on the irradiated quartz can be derived from the snapshots of the originating and expanding bubbles recorded by fast photographic setup. We found that the bubble pressure at 460 mJ cm−2 fluence value was independent of the pulse duration (600 fs and 30 ns) using pyrene-acetone solution, while using naphthalene-methyl-methacrylate solutions this pressure was 4, 5 times higher at 30 ns pulses than it was at 600 fs pulses. According to the earlier studies, this result refers to that the pressure should be sufficiently high to remove a thin layer from the quartz surface using pyrene-acetone solution. These facts show that the thermal and chemical phenomena in addition to the mechanical effects also play important role in the LIBWE procedure.  相似文献

Polyethersulfone (PES) films were processed with KrF laser irradiation of different pulse durations (τ). Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and Raman spectroscopy were employed for the examination of the morphology and chemical composition of the irradiated surfaces, respectively. During ablation with 500 fs and 5 ps pulses, localized deformations (beads), micro-ripple and conical structures were observed on the surface depending on the irradiation fluence (F) and the number of pulses (N). In addition, the number density of the structures is affected by the irradiation parameters (τ, F, N). Furthermore, at longer pulse durations (τ = 30 ns), conical structures appear at lower laser fluence values, which are converted into columnar structures upon irradiation at higher fluences. The Raman spectra collected from the top of the structures following irradiation at different pulse durations revealed graphitization of the ns laser treated areas, in contrast to those processed with ultra-short laser pulses.  相似文献

We study magnetotransport properties of graphite and rhombohedral bismuth samples and found that in both materials applied magnetic field induces the metal-insulator- (MIT) and reentrant insulator-metal-type (IMT) transformations. The corresponding transition boundaries plotted on the magnetic field-temperature (B − T) plane nearly coincide for these semimetals and can be best described by power laws T ∼ (B − Bc)κ, where Bc is a critical field at T = 0 and κ = 0.45 ± 0.05. We show that insulator-metal-insulator (I-M-I) transformations take place in the Landau level quantization regime and illustrate how the IMT in quasi-3D graphite transforms into a cascade of I-M-I transitions, related to the quantum Hall effect in quasi-2D graphite samples. We discuss the possible coupling of superconducting and excitonic correlations with the observed phenomena, as well as signatures of quantum phase transitions associated with the M-I and I-M transformations.  相似文献

In the present study TiO2 films were deposited by spray pyrolysis method onto ITO covered glass and Si (1 0 0) substrates. The spray solution containing titanium(IV) isopropoxide, acetylacetone and ethanol was sprayed at a substrate temperature of 450 °C employing 1-125 spray pulses (1 s spray and 30 s pause). According to AFM, continuous coverage of ITO and Si substrates with TiO2 layer is formed by 5-10 and below 5 spray pulses, respectively. XPS studies revealed that TiO2 film growth on Si substrate using up to 4 spray pulses follows 2D or layer-by-layer-growth. Above 4 spray pulses, 3D or island growth becomes dominant irrespective of the substrate. Only 50 spray pulses result in TiO2 layer with the thickness more than XPS measurement escape depth as any signal from the substrate could not be detected. TiO2 grain size remains 30 nm on ITO and increases from 10-20 nm to 50-100 nm on Si substrate with the number of spray pulses from 1 to 125.  相似文献

Pulsed laser photodeposition from amorphous selenium aqueous colloid solutions using ArF laser radiation at a wavelength of λ = 193 nm has been investigated. Nanometer thick layers were obtained on UV transparent silica substrates in contact with the solution for various photodeposition parameters. Amorphous Se layers, 20 nm thick, were obtained typically by 40 laser pulses of 30 ns duration with a fluence of 50 mJ/cm2. Deposition thresholds for depositing 1 nm thick layers were as low as 5 pulses. The deposited nanometer thin surface morphology was analyzed by Evanescent Field Optical Microscopy, Scanning Electron Microscopy and Atomic Force Microscopy. The nanometer thicknesses were evaluated by utilizing the differential evanescent light pattern emanating from the substrates.  相似文献

This study aimed at utilizing ultrasound treatment to further enhance the growth of lactobacilli and their isoflavone bioconversion activities in biotin-supplemented soymilk. Strains of lactobacilli (Lactobacillus acidophilus BT 1088, L. fermentum BT 8219, L. acidophilus FTDC 8633, L. gasseri FTDC 8131) were treated with ultrasound (30 kHz, 100 W) at different amplitudes (20%, 60% and 100%) for 60, 120 and 180 s prior to inoculation and fermentation in biotin-soymilk. The treatment affected the fatty acids chain of the cellular membrane lipid bilayer, as shown by an increased lipid peroxidation (P < 0.05). This led to increased membrane fluidity and subsequently, membrane permeability (P < 0.05). The permeabilized cellular membranes had facilitated nutrient internalization and subsequent growth enhancement (P < 0.05). Higher amplitudes and longer durations of the treatment promoted growth of lactobacilli in soymilk, with viable counts exceeding 9 log CFU/mL. The intracellular and extracellular β-glucosidase specific activities of lactobacilli were also enhanced (P < 0.05) upon ultrasound treatment, leading to increased bioconversion of isoflavones in soymilk, particularly genistin and malonyl genistin to genistein. Results from this study show that ultrasound treatment on lactobacilli cells promotes (P < 0.05) the β-glucosidase activity of cells for the benefit of enhanced (P < 0.05) isoflavone glucosides bioconversion to bioactive aglycones in soymilk.  相似文献

The focus of contrast-enhanced ultrasound research has developed beyond visualizing the blood pool and its flow to new areas such as perfusion imaging, drug and gene therapy, and targeted imaging. In this work comparison between the application of polymer- and phospholipid-shelled ultrasound contrast agents (UCAs) for characterization of the capillary microcirculation is reported. All experiments are carried out using a microtube as a vessel phantom. The first set of experiments evaluates the optimal concentration level where backscattered signal from microbubbles depends on concentration linearly. For the polymer-shelled UCAs the optimal concentration level is reached at a value of about 2 × 104 MB/ml, whereas for the phospholipid-shelled UCAs the optimal level is found at about 1 × 105 MB/ml.Despite the fact that the polymer shell occupies 30% of the radius of microbubble, compared to 0.2% of the phospholipid-shelled bubble, approximately 5-fold lower concentration of the polymer UCA is needed for investigation compared to phospholipid-shelled analogues. In the second set of experiments, destruction/replenishment method with varied time intervals ranging from 2 ms to 3 s between destructive and monitoring pulses is employed. The dependence of the peak-to-peak amplitude of backscattered wave versus pulse interval is fitted with an exponential function of the time γ = A(1 − exp(−βt)) where A represents capillary volume and the time constant β represents velocity of the flow. Taking into account that backscattered signal is linearly proportional to the microbubble concentration, for both types of the UCAs it is observed that capillary volume is linearly proportional to the concentration of the microbubbles, but the estimation of the flow velocity is not affected by the change of the concentration. Using the single capillary model, for the phospholipid-shelled UCA a delay of about 0.2-0.3 s in evaluation of the perfusion characteristics is found while polymer-shelled UCA provide response immediately. The latter at the concentration lower than 3.6 × 105 MB/ml have no statistically significant delay (< 0.01), do not cause any attenuation of the backscattered signal or saturation of the receiving part of the system. In conclusion, these results suggest that the novel polymer-shelled microbubbles have a potential to be used for perfusion evaluation.  相似文献

Antibacterial effect on Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Salmonella typhimurium and Helicobacter pylori of copper ion was researched. Also, additional effects of copper ion coating on optical and mechanical properties were researched as well. Copper ion was coated on glass substrate as a thin film to prevent bacteria from growing. Cupric nitrate was used as precursors for copper ion. The copper ion contained sol was deposited by spin coating process on glass substrate. Then, the deposited substrates were heat treated at the temperature range between 200 °C and 250 °C. The thickness of deposited copper layer on the surface was 63 nm. The antibacterial effect of copper ion coated glass on P. aeruginosa, S. typhimurium and H. pylori demonstrated excellent effect compared with parent glass. Copper ion contained layer on glass showed a similar value of transmittance compared with value of parent glass. The 3-point bending strength and Vickers hardness were 209.2 MPa, 540.9 kg/mm2 which were about 1.5% and 1.3% higher than the value of parent glass. From these findings, it is clear that copper ion coating on glass substrate showed outstanding effect not only in antibacterial activity but also in optical and mechanical properties as well.  相似文献

This paper describes the design of a large sized diamond window for 1 MW, 170 GHz gyrotron. The diameter and the thickness of the diamond window are 80 mm and 1.482 mm, respectively, whose edge is directly cooled by water. The CST microwave studio has been used for the S-parameter, and finite element analysis code ANSYS has been used for the thermal and the structural simulation. The return loss (S11) and insertion loss (S21) of the 170 GHz gyrotron window have been found −39.80 dB and −0.011 dB, respectively. The thermal and structural analysis of RF window the 397 K temperature at disk center and maximum displacement 0.01 mm has been found in the window disk during the thermal analysis.  相似文献

Single- and multi-shot ablation thresholds of gold films in the thickness range of 31-1400 nm were determined employing a Ti:sapphire laser delivering pulses of 28 fs duration, 793 nm center wavelength at 1 kHz repetition rate. The gold layers were deposited on BK7 glass by an electron beam evaporation process and characterized by atomic force microscopy and ellipsometry. A linear dependence of the ablation threshold fluence Fth on the layer thickness d was found for d ≤ 180 nm. If a film thickness of about 180 nm was reached, the damage threshold remained constant at its bulk value. For different numbers of pulses per spot (N-on-1), bulk damage thresholds of ∼0.7 J cm−2 (1-on-1), 0.5 J cm−2 (10-on-1), 0.4 J cm−2 (100-on-1), 0.25 J cm−2 (1000-on-1), and 0.2 J cm−2 (10000-on-1) were obtained experimentally indicating an incubation behavior. A characteristic layer thickness of Lc ≈ 180 nm can be defined which is a measure for the heat penetration depth within the electron gas before electron-phonon relaxation occurs. Lc is by more than an order of magnitude larger than the optical absorption length of α−1 ≈ 12 nm at 793 nm wavelength.  相似文献

Subwavelength ripples (<λ/4) are obtained by scanning a tightly focused beam (∼1 μm) of femtosecond laser radiation (λ = 800 nm, tp = 100 fs) over the surface of either bulk fused silica and silicon and Er:BaTiO3. The ripple pattern extends coherently over many overlapping laser pulses parallel and perpendicular to the polarisation. Investigated are the dependence of the ripple spacing on the spacing of successive pulses, the direction of polarisation and the material. The evolution of the ripples is investigated by applying pulse bursts with N = 1 to 20 pulses. The conditions under which these phenomena occur are specified, and some possible mechanisms of ripple growth are discussed. Potential applications are presented.  相似文献

The effect of fluence level on the discoloration of marble surfaces after the removal of the encrustation by 355 nm laser pulses is comparatively studied. Considering the thermochemical reaction possibly occurring in the encrustation during laser irradiation, the mechanism responsible for the discoloration of the cleaned marble surface is analyzed. The reduction of iron oxides by graphite plays a key role in determining the final color of the cleaned marble surface. A two-dimensional laser ablative cleaning model including the reaction heat is applied to calculate the temperature distribution during laser heating. The kinetics of the thermochemical reaction is estimated based on the simulated temperature field. The occurrence of the thermochemical reaction is also verified indirectly with experiments. The marble surfaces before and after laser irradiation are characterized in terms of the chemical components through surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy. The surface color is measured with a chromameter using a 1976 CIE L*a*b* color system. The proposed mechanism is also applied to numerically analyze the severe discoloration of marble cleaned with laser pulses at 1064 nm.  相似文献

A substantial spectral shift of the UV-laser induced luminescence in the Ag nanoparticles (NP) doped by Er3+ ions attached to ITO substrates was observed at T = 4.2 K. We have established high energy spectral shift of principal luminescent maxima (from wavelength equal to about 1.45 up to 1.15 μm) with increasing of the pumping nanosecond nitrogen laser power density up to 1.1 GW/cm2 operating at λ = 337 nm. With increasing Erbium content with respect to Ag the spectral shift and spectral line broadening increase. It may be caused by specific features of trapping level occupation kinetics on interfaces NP/ITO substrate. The observed process is fully reversible. The luminescence is observed only during excitation by the 337 nm laser pulses and is absent for laser pulses operating at other wavelengths (like excimer laser at 218 nm and nitrogen laser at 371 nm).  相似文献

With MEAM, the surface energies of three kinds of representative surfaces, (h 0 l), (h h l) and (h k 0) belong to [0 1 0], [] and [0 0 1] crystal band, respectively, have been calculated for 13 closed-packed hexagonal (hcp) metals Co, Dy, Er, Gd, Ho, Mg, Nd, Pr, Re, Sc, Tb, Tl and Zr. For all 13 hcp metals, the basal plane (0 0 1) has the minimum surface energy. So from surface energy minimization, the (0 0 1) texture should be favored in the hcp films, this is consistent with the experimental results. The fact that the short termination corresponds to much lower surface energy than long one implies the former is more stable for those surfaces having two possible terminations. Such as the prism plane (1 0 0), only the short termination was observed in experiment.  相似文献

Thin nano-structured carbon films have been deposited in vacuum by pulsed laser ablation, from a rotating polycrystalline graphite target, on Si 〈1 0 0〉 substrates, kept at temperatures ranging from RT to 800 °C. The laser ablation was performed by a Nd:YAG laser, operating in the near IR (λ = 1064 nm).X-ray diffraction analysis, performed at grazing incidence angle, both in-plane (ip-gid) and out-of-plane (op-gid), has shown the growth of oriented nano-sized graphene particles, characterised by high inter-planar stacking distance (d? ∼ 0.39 nm), compared to graphite. The film structure and texturing are strongly related both to laser wavelength and substrate temperature: the low energy associated to the IR laser radiation (1.17 eV) generates activated carbon species of large dimensions that, also at low T (∼400 °C), easy evolve toward more stable sp2 aromatic bonds, in the plume direction. Increasing temperature the nano-structure formation increases, causing a further aggregation of aromatic planes, voids formation, and a related density (by X-ray reflectivity) drop to very low values. SEM and STM show for these samples a strongly increased macroscopic roughness. The whole process, mainly at higher temperatures, is characterised by a fast kinetic mode, far from equilibrium and without any structural or spatial rearrangement.  相似文献

The vibrational structure of the electronic state of C3 in the region 26 000-30 775 cm−1 has been re-examined, using laser excitation spectra of jet-cooled molecules. Rotational constants and vibrational energies have been determined for over 60 previously-unreported vibronic levels; a number of other levels have been re-assigned. The vibrational structure is complicated by interactions between levels of the upper and lower Born-Oppenheimer components of the state, and by the effects of the double minimum potential in the Q3 coordinate, recognized by Izuha and Yamanouchi [16]. The present work shows that there is also strong anharmonic resonance between the overtones of the ν1 and ν3 vibrations. For instance, the levels 2 1+ 1 and 0 1 + 3 are nearly degenerate in zero order, but as a result of the resonance they give rise to two levels 139 cm−1 apart, centered about the expected position of the 2 1+ 1 level. With these irregularities recognized, every observed vibrational level up to 30 000 cm−1 (a vibrational energy of over 5000 cm−1) can now be assigned. A vibronic level at 30181.4 cm−1, which has a much lower B′ rotational constant than nearby levels of the state, possibly represents the onset of vibronic perturbations by the electronic state; this state is so far unknown, but is predicted by the ab initio calculations of Ahmed et al. [36].  相似文献

The use of ultrasound pre-processing treatment, compared to blanching, to enhance mechanical properties of non-starchy cell wall materials was investigated using carrot as an example. The mechanical properties of carrot tissues were measured by compression and tensile testing after the pre-processing treatment prior to and after retorting. Carrot samples ultrasound treated for 10 min at 60 °C provided a higher mechanical strength (P < 0.05) to the cell wall structure than blanching for the same time period. With the addition of 0.5% CaCl2 in the pre-treatment solution, both blanching and ultrasound treatment showed synergistic effect on enhancing the mechanical properties of retorted carrot pieces. At a relatively short treatment time (10 min at 60 °C) with the use of 0.5% CaCl2, ultrasound treatment achieved similar enhancement to the mechanical strength of retorted carrots to blanching for a much longer time period (i.e. 40 min). The mechanism involved appears to be related to the stress responses present in all living plant matter. However, there is a need to clarify the relative importance of the potential stress mechanisms in order to get a better understanding of the processing conditions likely to be most effective. The amount of ultrasound treatment required is likely to involve low treatment intensities and there are indications from the structural characterisation and mechanical property analyses that the plant cell wall tissues were more elastic than that accomplished using low temperature long time blanching.  相似文献
