We study in this paper multi-product facility location problem in a two-stage supply chain in which plants have production limitation, potential depots have limited storage capacity and customer demands must be satisfied by plants via depots. In the paper, handling cost for batch process in depots is considered in a realistic way by a set of capacitated handling modules. Each module can be regards as alliance of equipment and manpower. The problem is to locate depots, choose appropriate handling modules and to determine the product flows from the plants, opened depots to customers with the objective to minimize total location, handling and transportation costs. For the problem, we developed a hybrid method. The initial lower and upper bounds are provided by applying a Lagrangean based on local search heuristic. Then a weighted Dantzig–Wolfe decomposition and path-relinking combined method are proposed to improve obtained bounds. Numerical experiments on 350 randomly generated instances demonstrate our method can provide high quality solution with gaps below 2%.  相似文献

In this paper, a linear programming based heuristic is considered for a two-stage capacitated facility location problem with single source constraints. The problem is to find the optimal locations of depots from a set of possible depot sites in order to serve customers with a given demand, the optimal assignments of customers to depots and the optimal product flow from plants to depots. Good lower and upper bounds can be obtained for this problem in short computation times by adopting a linear programming approach. To this end, the LP formulation is iteratively refined using valid inequalities and facets which have been described in the literature for various relaxations of the problem. After each reoptimisation step, that is the recalculation of the LP solution after the addition of valid inequalities, feasible solutions are obtained from the current LP solution by applying simple heuristics. The results of extensive computational experiments are given.  相似文献

The Plant-Cycle Location Problem (PCLP) is defined on a graph G=(IJ, E), where I is the set of customers and J is the set of plants. Each customer must be served by one plant, and the plant must be opened to serve customers. The number of customers that a plant can serve is limited. There is a cost of opening a plant, and of serving a customer from an open plant. All customers served by a plant are in a cycle containing the plant, and there is a routing cost associated to each edge of the cycle. The PCLP consists in determining which plants to open, the assignment of customers to plants, and the cycles containing each open plant and its customers, minimizing the total cost. It is an NP-hard optimization problem arising in routing and telecommunications. In this article, the PCLP is formulated as an integer linear program, a branch-and-cut algorithm is developed, and computational results on real-world data and randomly generated instances are presented. The proposed approach is able to find optimal solutions of random instances with up to 100 customers and 100 potential plants, and of instances on real-world data with up to 120 customers and 16 potential plants.  相似文献

A supply chain design problem based on a two-echelon single-product system is addressed. The product is distributed from plants to distribution centers and then to customers. There are several transportation channels available for each pair of facilities between echelons. These transportation channels introduce a cost?Ctime tradeoff in the problem that allows us to formulate it as a bi-objective mixed-integer program. The decisions to be taken are the location of the distribution centers, the selection of the transportation channels, and the flow between facilities. Three variations of the classic ??-constraint method for generating optimal Pareto fronts are studied in this paper. The procedures are tested over six different classes of instance sets. The three sets of smallest size were solved completely obtaining their efficient solution set. It was observed that one of the three proposed algorithms consistently outperformed the other two in terms of their execution time. Additionally, four schemes for obtaining lower bound sets are studied. These schemes are based on linear programming relaxations of the model. The contribution of this work is the introduction of a new bi-objective optimization problem, and a computational study of the ??-constraint methods for obtaining optimal efficient fronts and the lower bounding schemes.  相似文献

The design of distribution systems raises hard combinatorial optimization problems. For instance, facility location problems must be solved at the strategic decision level to place factories and warehouses, while vehicle routes must be built at the tactical or operational levels to supply customers. In fact, location and routing decisions are interdependent and studies have shown that the overall system cost may be excessive if they are tackled separately. The location-routing problem (LRP) integrates the two kinds of decisions. Given a set of potential depots with opening costs, a fleet of identical vehicles and a set of customers with known demands, the classical LRP consists in opening a subset of depots, assigning customers to them and determining vehicle routes, to minimize a total cost including the cost of open depots, the fixed costs of vehicles used, and the total cost of the routes. Since the last comprehensive survey on the LRP, published by Nagy and Salhi (2007), the number of articles devoted to this problem has grown quickly, calling a review of new research works. This paper analyzes the recent literature (72 articles) on the standard LRP and new extensions such as several distribution echelons, multiple objectives or uncertain data. Results of state-of-the-art metaheuristics are also compared on standard sets of instances for the classical LRP, the two-echelon LRP and the truck and trailer problem.  相似文献

Suppose that customers are situated at the nodes of a transportation network, and a service company plans to locate a number of facilities that will serve the customers. The objective is to minimize the sum of the total setup cost and the total transportation cost. The setup cost of a facility is demand-dependent, that is, it depends on the number of customers that are served by the facility. Centralized allocation of customers to facilities is assumed, that is, the service company makes a decision about allocation of customers to facilities. In the case of a general network, the model can be formulated as a mixed integer programming problem. For the case of a tree network, we develop a polynomial-time dynamic programming algorithm.  相似文献

The problem of scheduling delivery vehicles from a number of depots to customers, subject to constraints on load and distance or time, is considered. A new algorithm is presented; this allows routes from several depots to be constructed simultaneously, subject to restrictions on numbers of vehicles at individual depots. Where too many customers require service, a flexible priority rule will select those to be served. Results for the single depot case are compared with other known algorithms; further results are given and discussed for cases of several depots.  相似文献

Facility location models are applicable to problems in many diverse areas, such as distribution systems and communication networks. In capacitated facility location problems, a number of facilities with given capacities must be chosen from among a set of possible facility locations and then customers assigned to them. We describe a Lagrangian relaxation heuristic algorithm for capacitated problems in which each customer is served by a single facility. By relaxing the capacity constraints, the uncapacitated facility location problem is obtained as a subproblem and solved by the well-known dual ascent algorithm. The Lagrangian relaxations are complemented by an add heuristic, which is used to obtain an initial feasible solution. Further, a final adjustment heuristic is used to attempt to improve the best solution generated by the relaxations. Computational results are reported on examples generated from the Kuehn and Hamburger test problems.  相似文献

This paper considers the resource planning problem of a utility company that provides preventive maintenance services to a set of customers using a fleet of depot-based mobile gangs. The problem is to determine the boundaries of the geographic areas served by each depot, the list of customers visited each day and the routes followed by the gangs. The objective is to provide improved customer service at minimum operating cost subject to constraints on frequency of visits, service time requirements, customer preferences for visiting on particular days and other routing constraints. The problem is solved as a Multi-Depot Period Vehicle Routing Problem (MDPVRP). The computational implementation of the complete planning model is described with reference to a pilot study and results are presented. The solution algorithm is used to construct cost-service trade-off curves for all depots so that management can evaluate the impact of different customer service levels on total routing costs.  相似文献

In this paper we consider integrated planning of transportation of raw material, production and distribution of products of the supply chain at Södra Cell AB, a major European pulp mill company. The strategic planning period is one year. Decisions included in the planning are transportation of raw materials from harvest areas to pulp mills, production mix and contents at pulp mills, distribution of pulp products from mills to customer via terminals or directly and selection of potential orders and their levels at customers. Distribution is carried out by three different transportation modes; vessels, trains and trucks. We propose a mathematical model for the entire supply chain which includes a large number of continuous variables and a set of binary variables to reflect decisions about product mix and order selection at customers. Five different alternatives regarding production mix in a case study carried out at Södra Cell are analyzed and evaluated. Each alternative describes which products will be produced at which pulp mills.  相似文献

In the following case study the problem of the location of depots in a sugar-beet distribution system for a certain sugar enterprise in Poland is considered. The sugar-beet is delivered from farms to sugar-mills either directly or through some depots. Lower and upper limits on the depot throughputs are imposed. The depot investment and operating costs are estimated by a piecewiselinear function. Given a set of possible depot locations, costs associated with the depots and the unit transportation costs, we seek a minimum cost location-transportation plan determining the number, location and sizes of the depots to be opened and the amounts of the sugar-beet flows. Two solution procedures are developed: (1) The application of MPSX and MIP systems for the problem of the reduced size; (2) The heuristic method. Based upon the computational results both approaches can be treated as alternative solution techniques to the presented problem.  相似文献

The growing cost of transportation and distribution pushes companies, especially small and medium transportation enterprises, to form partnership and to exploit economies of scale. On the other hand, to increase their competitiveness on the market, companies are asked to consider preferences of the customers as well. Therefore, tools for logistics management need to manage collective resources, as many depots and heterogeneous fleets, providing flexible preference handling at the same time. In this paper we tackle a pickup and delivery vehicle routing problem involving such aspects; customers place preferences on visiting time (represented as soft time windows), and their violation is allowed at a price. Our interest in this problem stems from an ongoing industrial project. First we propose an exact branch-and-price algorithm, having as a core advanced dynamic programming techniques. Then we analyze through a computational campaign the impact of soft time windows management on the optimal solution in terms of both routing and overall distribution costs. Our experiments show that our approach can solve instances of real size, and clarify the practical usefulness of soft time windows management.  相似文献

The two-stage uncapacitated facility location problem is considered. This problem involves a system providing a choice of depots and plants, each with an associated location cost, and a set of demand points which must be supplied, in such a way that the total cost is minimized. The formulations used until now to approach the problem were symmetric in plants and depots. In this paper the asymmetry inherent to the problem is taken into account to enforce the formulation which can be seen like a set packing problem and new facet defining inequalities for the convex hull of the feasible solutions are obtained. A computational study is carried out which illustrates the interest of the new facets. A new family of facets recently developed, termed lifted fans, is tested with success.  相似文献

We propose a tabu search heuristic for the location/allocation problem with balancing requirements. This problem typically arises in the context of the medium term management of a fleet of containers of multiple types, where container depots have to be selected, the assignment of customers to depots has to be established for each type of container, and the interdepot container traffic has to be planned to account for differences in supplies and demands in various zones of the geographical territory served by a container shipping company. It is modeled as a mixed integer program, which combines zero-one location variables and a multicommodity network flow structure. Extensive computational results on a set of benchmark problems and comparisons with an efficient dual ascent procedure are reported. These show that tabu search is a competitive approach for this class of problems.  相似文献

We address a truck scheduling problem that arises in intermodal container transportation, where containers need to be transported between customers (shippers or receivers) and container terminals (rail or maritime) and vice versa. The transportation requests are handled by a trucking company which operates several depots and a fleet of homogeneous trucks that must be routed and scheduled to minimize the total truck operating time under hard time window constraints imposed by the customers and terminals. Empty containers are considered as transportation resources and are provided by the trucking company for freight transportation. The truck scheduling problem at hand is formulated as Full-Truckload Pickup and Delivery Problem with Time Windows (FTPDPTW) and is solved by a 2-stage heuristic solution approach. This solution method was specially designed for the truck scheduling problem but can be applied to other problems as well. We assess the quality of our solution approach on several computational experiments.  相似文献

Starting from her home, a service provider visits several customers, following a predetermined route, and returns home after all customers are visited. The problem is to find a fair allocation of the total cost of this tour among the customers served. A transferable-utility cooperative game can be associated with this cost allocation problem. We introduce a new class of games, which we refer as the fixed-route traveling salesman games with appointments. We characterize the Shapley value in this class using a property which requires that sponsors do not benefit from mergers, or splitting into a set of sponsors.  相似文献

The locating of a set of depots to serve a given set of customers is complicated by the existence of local optima of the cost function. It is shown that the strategic siting of hazards (conventionally used to model natural obstacles) can lead to the avoidance of such local optima. Very few distribution studies have dealt with combined location-routing problems, the problems of locating depots from which customers are served by tours rather than individual trips.This paper gives a survey of methods solving combined location-routing problems. Some methods are analyzed and three new heuristic methods are developed, implemented and compared.A newspaper delivery system consisting of 4500 customers is solved. The results seem to indicate that an alternate location-allocation-savings procedure and a saving-drop procedure are promising.  相似文献

This paper addresses a location-routing problem with simultaneous pickup and delivery (LRPSPD) which is a general case of the location-routing problem. The LRPSPD is defined as finding locations of the depots and designing vehicle routes in such a way that pickup and delivery demands of each customer must be performed with same vehicle and the overall cost is minimized. We propose an effective branch-and-cut algorithm for solving the LRPSPD. The proposed algorithm implements several valid inequalities adapted from the literature for the problem and a local search based on simulated annealing algorithm to obtain upper bounds. Computational results, for a large number of instances derived from the literature, show that some instances with up to 88 customers and 8 potential depots can be solved in a reasonable computation time.  相似文献

Since China started its economic reform, many Hong Kong companies have moved to China. While reducing labor costs, the move has also increased transportation costs. In some cases, transportation cost can reach 30% of total product cost.This work is based on the cargo loading operation of a Hong Kong manufacturer that uses standard containers to ship its products from China, and then onto its customers abroad. Its cargo loading problem is complicated by certain operational constraints. We present several heuristics to solve the problem. Computational tests on the company's actual data indicate an annual saving of over HK$3,000,000, which corresponds to 10.58% of the transportation cost. More importantly, our methods can change the management of the loading operation from the current experience-based system into a systematic, accurate, reliable, and efficient system.  相似文献
