We find closed-form solutions for axisymmetric plane strain deformations of a functionally graded circular cylinder comprised of an isotropic and incompressible second-order elastic material with moduli varying only in the radial direction. Cylinder's inner and outer surfaces are loaded by hydrostatic pressures. These solutions are specialized to cases where only one of the two surfaces is loaded. It is found that for a linear through-the-thickness variation of the elastic moduli, the hoop stress for the first-order solution (or in a cylinder comprised of a linear elastic material) is a constant but that for the second-order solution varies through the thickness. The radial displacement, the radial stress and the hoop stress do not depend upon the second-order elastic constant but the hydrostatic pressure and hence the axial stress depends upon it. When the two elastic moduli vary as the radius raised to the power two or four, the radial and the hoop stresses in an infinite space with a pressurized cylindrical cavity equal the pressure in the cavity. For an affine variation of the elastic moduli, the hoop stress in an internally loaded cylinder made of a linear elastic isotropic and incompressible material at the point is the same as that in a homogeneous cylinder. Here Rin and Rou equal, respectively, the inner and the outer radius of the undeformed cylinder and R the radial coordinate of a point in the unstressed reference configuration.  相似文献

The analytical solutions of displacements and stresses for an eigenstrain problem in a composite bi-layered coaxial cylinder are presented in this article. The inner cylinder is assumed to undergo a dynamic, spatially varying eigenstrain. The spatial distribution of the eigenstrian is taken to be a quadratic polynomial with arbitrary coefficients along the radial direction. Furthermore, the eigenstrain is assumed to be harmonically time-dependent. Elasticity equations are constructed to directly solve the problem. The effect of spatial distribution, as well as the angular frequency of the eigenstrain on the elastic response of the composite cylinder has been illustrated graphically.  相似文献

In this paper the radial deformation and the corresponding stresses in a non-homogeneous hollow elastic cylinder rotating about its axis with a constant angular velocity is investigated. The material of the cylinder is assumed to the non-homogeneous and cylindrically orthotropic. The system of fundamental equations is solved by means of a finite difference method and the numerical calculations are carried out for the temperature, the components of displacement and the components of stress with the time t and through the thickness of the cylinder. The results indicate that the effect of inhomogeneity is very pronounced. Received on 21 December 2000  相似文献

Analytical solutions to rotating functionally graded hollow and solid long cylinders are developed. Young's modulus and material density of the cylinder are assumed to vary exponentially in the radial direction, and Poisson's ratio is assumed to be constant. A unified governing equation is derived from the equilibrium equations, compatibility equation, deformation theory of elasticity and the stress-strain relationship. The governing second-order differential equation is solved in terms of a hypergeometric function for the elastic deformation of rotating functionally graded cylinders. Dependence of stresses in the cylinder on the inhomogeneous parameters, geometry and boundary conditions is examined and discussed. The proposed solution is validated by comparing the results for rotating functionally graded hollow and solid cylinders with the results for rotating homogeneous isotropic cylinders. In addition, a viscoelastic solution to the rotating viscoelastic cylinder is presented, and dependence of stresses in hollow and solid cylinders on the time parameter is examined.  相似文献

This paper presents accurate elastic solutions for the rotating variable-thickness and/or uniform-thickness orthotropic circular cylinders. The present circular cylinder may contain a uniform-thickness solid core of rigid or homogeneously isotropic material. Different cases of rotating cylinders of various cores are investigated. These cylinders include completely isotropic solid cylinder, uniform-thickness orthotropic cylinder containing an isotropic core, variable-thickness orthotropic cylinder containing an isotropic core, uniform-thickness orthotropic cylinder containing a rigid core, and variable-thickness orthotropic cylinder containing a rigid core. For all cases studied, exact elastic solutions are obtained and numerical results are presented. The results include the radial, hoop, and axial stresses and radial displacement of the five cylinder configurations. The distributions of displacement and stresses through the radial direction of the rotating cylinder are obtained and comparisons between different cases are made at the same angular velocity.  相似文献

Some special problems for axisymmetric solids made of linearly elastic orthotropic micropolar material with central symmetry are dealt with. The first one is a hollow circular cylinder of unlimited length, subjected to internal and external uniform pressure. The second one is a hollow or solid circular cylinder of finite length, subjected to a relative rotation of the bases about its axis. In both cases, one of the axes of elastic symmetry is parallel to the cylinder axis; the other two are arbitrarily oriented in the plane of any cross-section of the solid. The elastic properties are invariant along the cylinder axis. It is shown that the two problems are governed by formally similar sets of ordinary differential equations in the kinematic fields (in-plane displacements and microrotations). In the general case, numerical solutions are derived. The solution for the cylinder subjected to radial pressure does not significantly differ from that obtained in classical elasticity, at least in terms of radial and hoop force stresses. In the case of a cylinder subjected to torsion the difference between the micropolar and the classical solutions is more pronounced. The torque induces twisting couple stresses about the cylinder axis of variable sign. Finally, size effects in terms of torsional inertia are pointed out.  相似文献

This paper presents an analytical solution for the interaction of electric potentials, electric displacements, elastic deformations, and thermoelasticity, and describes electromagnetoelastic responses and perturbation of the magnetic field vector in hollow structures(cylinder or sphere),subjected to mechanical load and electric potential. The material properties, thermal expansion coefficient and magnetic permeability of the structure are assumed to be graded in the radial direction by a power law distribution. In the present model we consider the solution for the case of a hollow structure made of viscoelastic isotropic material, reinforced by elastic isotropic fibers, this material is considered as structurally anisotropic material. The exact solutions for stresses and perturbations of the magnetic field vector in FGM hollow structures are determined using the infinitesimal theory of magnetothermoelasticity, and then the hollow structure model with viscoelastic material is solved using the correspondence principle and Illyushin’s approximation method. Finally, numerical results are carried out and discussed.  相似文献

Time-dependent creep stress redistribution analysis of rotating disk made of Al–SiC composite is investigated using Mendelson’s method of successive elastic solution. All mechanical and thermal properties except Poisson’s ratio are radial dependent based on volume fraction percent of SiC reinforcement. The material creep behavior is described by Sherby’s constitutive model using Pandey’s experimental results on Al–SiC composite. Loading is an inertia body force due to rotation and a distributed temperature field due to steady-state heat conduction from inner to outer surface of the disk. Using equations of equilibrium, stress strain, and strain displacement, a differential equation, containing creep strains, for displacement is obtained. History of stresses and deformations are calculated using method of successive elastic solution. It is concluded that the uniform distribution of SiC reinforcement does not considerably influence on stresses. However, the minimum and most uniform distribution of circumferential and effective thermoelastic stresses belongs to composite disk of aluminum with 0% SiC at inner surface and 40% SiC at outer surface. It has also been found that the stresses, displacement, and creep strains are changing with time at a decreasing rate so that after almost 50 years the solution approaches the steady-state condition.  相似文献

This paper investigates the influences of higher order viscoelasticity and the inhomogeneities of the transversely isotropic elastic parameters on the disturbances in an infinite medium, caused by the presence of a transient radial force or twist on the surface of a cylindrical hole with circular cross section. Following Voigt's model for higher order viscoelasticity, the nonvanishing stress components valid for a transversely isotropic and higher order viscoelastic solid medium have been deduced in terms of radial displacement component. Considering the power law variation of elastic and viscoelastic parameters, the stress equation of motion has been developed. Solving this equation under suitable boundary conditions, due to transient forces and twists, radial displacement and relevant stress components have been determined in terms of modified Bessel functions. The problem for the presence of transient radial force has been numerically analysed. Modulations of displacement and stresses due to different order of viscoelasticity and inhomogeneity have been graphically depicted. The numerical study of the disturbance caused by the presence of twist on the surface may be similarly done but is not pursued in this paper.

An analytic solution to the axisymmetric problem of a long, radially polarized, hollow cylinder composed of functionally graded piezoelectric material (FGPM) rotating about its axis at a constant angular velocity is presented. For the case that electric, thermal and mechanical properties of the material obey different power laws in the thickness direction, distributions for radial displacement, stresses and electric potential in the FGPM hollow cylinder are determined by using the theory of electrothermoelasticity. Some useful discussions and numerical examples are presented to show the significant influence of material nonhomogeneity, and adopting suitable graded indexes and applying suitable geometric size and rotating velocity ω may optimize the rotating FGPM hollow cylindrical structures. This will be of particular importance in modern engineering application.  相似文献

This paper presents an analysis of the torsion of a solid or annular circular cylinder consisting of nonlinear material in the form of an elastic matrix with embedded unidirectional elastic fibers parallel to the cylinder axis. The specific class of composite considered is one for which nonlinear fiber-matrix interface slip is captured by uniform cohesive zones of vanishing thickness. Previous work on the effective antiplane shear response of this material leads to a stress–strain relation depending on the interface slip together with an integral equation governing its evolution. Here, we obtain an approximate single mode solution to the integral equation and utilize it to solve the torsion problem. Equations governing the radial distributions of shear stress and interface slip are obtained and formulae for torque–twist rate are presented. The existence of singular surfaces, i.e., surfaces across which the slip and the shear stress experience jump discontinuities are analyzed in detail. Specific results are presented for an interface force law that allows for interface failure in shear.  相似文献

A numerical solution is constructed for the axisymmetric problem of the diffraction of a plane longitudinal wave in a rigid disc (cylinder) of finite thickness. The disc is enclosed in an unbounded elastic medium; at the contact surface, the tangential stresses are limited by some constant. The incident wave moves along the axis of the cylinder and has the form of a semiinfinite washed-out step. At the same time, a solution is obtained to the corresponding static problem. A study was made of the dependence of the rate of motion of the cylinder and the stress field on the parameters of the problem. In particular, it is shown that the contact conditions have a considerable effect on the stress field only near the lateral surface. The results obtained can be useful for evaluating the errors in measurement of the stresses and velocities in an elastic medium, and possibly also in certain other cases.Deceased.Translated from Zhurnal Prikladnoi Mekhaniki i Teknicheskoi Fiziki, No. 3, pp. 139–150, May–June, 1972.  相似文献

The problem of a multi-material composite wedge under a normal and shear loading at its external faces is considered with a variable separable solution. The stress and displacement fields are determined using the equilibrium conditions for forces and moments and the appropriate Airy stress function. The infinite isotropic wedge under shear and normal distributed loading along its external faces is examined for different values of the order n of the radial coordinate r. The proposed solution is applied to the elastostatic problem of a composite isotropic k-materials infinite wedge under distributed loading along its external faces. Applications are made in the case of the two-materials composite wedge under linearly distributed loading along its external faces and in the case of a three-materials composite wedge under a parabolically distributed loading along its external faces.  相似文献

An exact solution to the problem of indentation with friction of a rigid cylinder into an elastic half-space is presented. The corresponding boundary-value problem is formulated in planar bipolar coordinates, and reduced to a singular integral equation with respect to the unknown normal stress in the slip zones. An exact analytical solution of this equation is constructed using the Wiener-Hopf technique, which allowed for a detailed analysis of the contact stresses, strain, displacement, and relative slip zone sizes. Also, a simple analytical solution is furnished in the limiting case of full stick between the cylinder and half-space.  相似文献

Axisymmetric stresses around a cylindrical crack in an interfacial cylindrical layer between an infinite elastic medium with a cylindrical cavity and a circular elastic cylinder made of another material have been determined. The material constants of the layer vary continuously from those of the infinite medium to those of the cylinder. Tension surrounding the cylinder and perpendicular to the axis of the cylinder is applied to the composite materials. To solve this problem, the interfacial layer is divided into several layers with different material properties. The boundary conditions are reduced to dual integral equations. The differences in the crack faces are expanded in a series so as to satisfy the conditions outside the crack. The unknown coefficients in the series are solved using the conditions inside the crack. Numerical calculations are performed for several thicknesses of the interfacial layer. Using these numerical results, the stress intensity factors are evaluated for infinitesimal thickness of the layer.  相似文献

The present study deals with free vibration analysis of variable thickness viscoelastic circular plates made of heterogeneous materials and resting on two-parameter elastic foundations in addition to their edge conditions. It is assumed that the viscoelastic material properties vary in the transverse and radial directions simultaneously. The complex modulus approach is employed in conjunction with the elastic-viscoelastic correspondence principle to obtain the solution. The governing equations are solved by means of a power series solution. Finally,a sensitivity analysis including evaluation of effects of various edge conditions, thickness variations, coefficients of the elastic foundation, and material loss factor and heterogeneity on the natural frequencies and modal loss factors is accomplished.  相似文献

An analytical solution to the axisymmetric problem on the action of a distributed load on an isotropic half-space when the load is given by a function dependent on the radial coordinate is obtained. The surface of the half-space is elastically fixed outside the circular domain of load application, the shear stresses are absent along the entire boundary, and the stresses vanish at infinity. At the boundary and inside the elastic half-space, the solutions are represented by the formulas for the stress tensor components and for the displacement vector components.  相似文献
