This paper documents the elastic deformations and corresponding aerodynamic coefficients of flexible wings used for micro air vehicles (MAVs). These low-aspect ratio wings, developed and fabricated at the University of Florida, incorporate an elastic latex membrane skin covering a thin carbon fiber skeleton. The wings were tested in a unique low-speed wind tunnel facility integrating a visual image correlation (VIC) system with a six-component strain gauge sting balance. Model characteristics are presented, along with the appropriate specimen preparation techniques and wind tunnel instrumentation. The static response characteristics, including full-field displacements and plane strain measurements, for three distinct MAV wing designs are presented. The full-field deformation results show how passive wing flexibility preferably affects aerodynamic performance when compared to a rigid model of similar geometry.  相似文献

Aiming at developing an effective tool to unveil key mechanisms in bio-flight as well as to provide guidelines for bio-inspired micro air vehicles(MAVs) design,we propose a comprehensive computational framework,which integrates aerodynamics,flight dynamics,vehicle stability and maneuverability.This framework consists of(1) a Navier-Stokes unsteady aerodynamic model;(2) a linear finite element model for structural dynamics;(3) a fluidstructure interaction(FSI) model for coupled flexible wing aerodynamics aeroelasticity;(4) a free-flying rigid body dynamic(RBD) model utilizing the Newtonian-Euler equations of 6DoF motion;and(5) flight simulator accounting for realistic wing-body morphology,flapping-wing and body kinematics,and a coupling model accounting for the nonlinear 6DoF flight dynamics and stability of insect flapping flight.Results are presented based on hovering aerodynamics with rigid and flexible wings of hawkmoth and fruitfly.The present approach can support systematic analyses of bio- and bio-inspired flight.  相似文献

Structural Analysis of a Dragonfly Wing   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
Dragonfly wings are highly corrugated, which increases the stiffness and strength of the wing significantly, and results in a lightweight structure with good aerodynamic performance. How insect wings carry aerodynamic and inertial loads, and how the resonant frequency of the flapping wings is tuned for carrying these loads, is however not fully understood. To study this we made a three-dimensional scan of a dragonfly (Sympetrum vulgatum) fore- and hindwing with a micro-CT scanner. The scans contain the complete venation pattern including thickness variations throughout both wings. We subsequently approximated the forewing architecture with an efficient three-dimensional beam and shell model. We then determined the wing’s natural vibration modes and the wing deformation resulting from analytical estimates of 8 load cases containing aerodynamic and inertial loads (using the finite element solver Abaqus). Based on our computations we find that the inertial loads are 1.5 to 3 times higher than aerodynamic pressure loads. We further find that wing deformation is smaller during the downstroke than during the upstroke, due to structural asymmetry. The natural vibration mode analysis revealed that the structural natural frequency of a dragonfly wing in vacuum is 154 Hz, which is approximately 4.8 times higher than the natural flapping frequency of dragonflies in hovering flight (32.3 Hz). This insight in the structural properties of dragonfly wings could inspire the design of more effective wings for insect-sized flapping micro air vehicles: The passive shape of aeroelastically tailored wings inspired by dragonflies can in principle be designed more precisely compared to sail like wings —which can make the dragonfly-like wings more aerodynamically effective.  相似文献

Wing flapping and morphing can be very beneficial to managing the weight of micro air vehicles through coupling the aerodynamic forces with stability and control. In this letter, harvesting energy from the wing morphing is studied to power cameras, sensors, or communication devices of micro air vehicles and to aid in the management of their power. The aerodynamic loads on flapping wings are simulated using a three-dimensional unsteady vortex lattice method. Active wing shape morphing is considered to enhance the performance of the flapping motion. A gradient-based optimization algorithm is used to pinpoint the optimal kinematics maximizing the propellent efficiency. To benefit from the wing deformation, we place piezoelectric layers near the wing roots. Gauss law is used to estimate the electrical harvested power. We demonstrate that enough power can be generated to operate a camera. Numerical analysis shows the feasibility of exploiting wing morphing to harvest energy and improving the design and performance of micro air vehicles.  相似文献

多尺度计算是保证计算精度的同时最大限度降低计算代价的有效途径,在众多学科领域和工程问题中都得到了应用.在结构有限元多尺度分析领域,要解决的一个关键问题是如何实现局部微观模型与宏观结构模型之间的共同工作.为实现精细有限元模型在植入宏观结构模型时不同尺度模型界面的变形协调,提出有限元微观模型与宏观模型的界面连接方法,给出了轴向、横向和转角的约束方程.通过编制用户子程序,使该方法在有限元软件中得以实现,并通过简单的圆柱筒算例,对界面连接的合理性进行了验证.最后基于多尺度建模方法和复杂混合结构节点的精细模型,给出了钢-混凝土混合框架结构多尺度弹塑性时程分析的应用实例,结果表明多尺度计算可较好模拟节点的复杂边界条件.本文建议的界面连接方法可有效实现不同尺度模型界面的变形协调,为工程结构进行多尺度提供了条件.  相似文献

结合震害调研及数值分析可知,结构最终失效可能仅由部分关键构件破坏引起,大部分构件仍处于弹性或小变形状态。因此为提高计算效率,在结构全过程分析中一致采用非线性单元建模并非必要,同时为准确考虑关键构件的非线性响应,本文提出一种新的数值子结构建模策略。进入弹塑性状态后,针对一般钢构件或钢筋混凝土构件采用动态替换子结构方法在单元或截面层次将其替换成非线性单元或非线性截面,并基于OpenSees平台开发了两类新单元予以实现;针对可能发生严重损伤的关键构件,采用隔离子结构方法将其隔离并建立精细化分析模型,考虑主、子结构间不同尺度边界耦合,并推导了切线刚度的传递关系,采用Client/Server技术在OpenSees平台开发了一类新的接口单元予以实现主、子结构之间的信息传递。为验证新开发单元的合理性,分别以钢及钢筋混凝土平面框架结构为例,采用纤维单元、动态替换子结构方法以及隔离子结构方法建模进行静、动力分析。计算结果表明,采用本文提出的动态替换子结构方法与常规建模方法的计算结果完全吻合并且可大幅缩短计算耗时,随着荷载水平的增大,结构中受到动态替换的构件比例急剧增大,计算效率提高程度略有降低,但仍远高于常规模型;采用本文提出的接口单元可准确传递主、子结构间的界面信息,为隔离数值子结构方法在结构弹塑性分析中的应用提供了基础。  相似文献

本文研究结构几何非线性与气动力非平面效应对大展弦比复合材料机翼的气动弹性行为的影响.将非线性有限元法与曲面涡格法结合,计算机翼静气动弹性变形;通过曲面偶极子格网法结合静气动弹性平衡位置处的结构切线刚度,建立气动弹性方程并求解得到机翼颤振速度.针对板模型机翼,分析了迎角对机翼几何非线性气动弹性特性的影响.结果表明:本文复合材料板模型机翼的颤振形式不受水平弯曲模态影响,属于经典弯扭颤振;在几何非线性的影响下,机翼扭转频率随结构变形增大而明显减小,颤振速度随迎角增大而减小.  相似文献

Beams and plates manufactured from laminates of composite materials have distinct advantages in a significant number of applications. However, the anisotropy arising from these materials adds a significant degree of complexity, and thus time, to the stress and deformation analyses of such components, even using numerical approaches such as finite elements. The analysis of composite laminate beams subjected to uniform extension, bending, and/or twisting loads was performed by a novel implementation of the usual finite element method. Due to the symmetric features of the deformations, only a thin slice of the beam to be analysed needs to be modelled. Conventional three-dimensional solid finite elements were used for the structural discretization. The accurate deformation relationships were formulated and implemented through the coupling of nodal translational degrees of freedom in the numerical analysis. A sample solution for a rectangular composite laminate beam is presented to show the validity and accuracy of the proposed method.  相似文献

以验证高超声速颤振风洞试验技术为目标,为了获取试验模型在风洞流场激励下的位移形貌,运用风洞试验的方法研究了某翼面模型的颤振特性。采用一种基于双目视觉系统的试验方法,系统主要由CCD相机、图像采集卡和控制计算机组成,通过立体视觉标定和数字图像处理技术解算出模型变形的形貌。试验结果表明,该方法应用成功,与CFD/CSD数值计算结果比对良好,验证了该技术在高超声速风洞试验中应用的可行性。  相似文献

提出了基于静力响应面的结构有限元模型修正方法.运用响应面方法,将结构静力响应和结构参数之间复杂的隐式关系用显式函数近似表达出来;在此响应面模型(函数)基础上,通过优化计算对结构有限元模型参数进行修正.阐述了基于静力响应面的结构有限元模型修正方法的基本理论和一般实现过程.对两跨连续梁结构的静力模型修正数值算例分析结果表明:基于静力响应面的有限元模型修正方法可以减少结构有限元计算的次数、提高模型修正的优化效率,结构有限元模型修正结果具有可接受的精度.  相似文献

The magnitude and temporal variations of wind speed considerably influence aerodynamic and structural responses of MW-sized horizontal axis wind turbines. Thus, this paper investigates the variations in airloads and blade behavior of a wind turbine blade resulting from operations in sheared and turbulent flow conditions. First, in order to validate the present methods, comparisons of aerodynamic results were made among the blade element momentum method, free-wake method, and numerical results from the previous studies. Then, the validated methods were applied to a national renewable energy laboratory 5 MW reference wind turbine model for fluid–structure interaction analyses. From the numerical simulations, it can be clearly seen that unfavorable airloads and blade deformations occur due to the sheared and turbulent flow conditions. In addition, it is clear that wake impacts are not as substantial at those of high wind speeds; however, the effects obviously affect the aerodynamic and structural behaviors of the blade at lower wind speeds. Therefore, it is concluded that the numerical results markedly indicate the demand for accurate assessment of wake dynamics for accurate estimations of the aerodynamic and structural responses for sheared and turbulent flow environments.  相似文献

通过进行微型扑翼飞行器低速风洞试验,研究了带弯度机翼下翼面翼刀对扑翼飞行器升阻特性的影响。文中进行了带翼刀机翼和不带翼刀机翼在不同迎角下的风洞吹风试验。试验结果表明,带翼刀机翼升力系数大于不带翼刀机翼升力系数,从而证明了翼刀可以阻止机翼下表面气流展向流动,起到增加机翼升力的作用。当扑翼在小迎角飞行时,带翼刀机翼可以有效地提高扑翼的气动效率,改善扑翼的飞行性能。研究结果可为带翼刀机翼在扑翼飞行器上的应用提供技术支持。  相似文献

The application of the finite element corotational theory to model geometric nonlinear structures within a fluid–structure interaction procedure is proposed. A dynamic corotational approximately-energy-conserving algorithm is used to solve the nonlinear structural response and it is shown that this algorithm's application with a four-node flat finite element is more stable than the nonlinear implicit Newmark method. This structural dynamic algorithm is coupled with the unsteady vortex-ring method using a staggered technique. These procedures were used to obtain aeroelastic results of a nonlinear plate-type wing subjected to low speed airflow. It is shown that stable and accurate numerical solutions are obtained using the proposed fluid–structure interaction algorithm. Furthermore, it is illustrated that geometric nonlinearities lead to limit cycle oscillations.  相似文献

The behaviour of a self-piercing riveted connection was investigated experimentally and numerically. An extensive experimental programme was conducted on elementary riveted joints in aluminium alloy AA6060 in two different tempers, T4 and T6. The experimental programme was focused on the influence of important model parameters such as thickness of the plates, geometry of the specimens, material properties of the plates and loading conditions. An accurate 3D numerical model of different types of riveted connections subjected to various loading conditions was generated based on the results of the numerical simulation of the riveting process. A new algorithm was generated in order to transfer all the information from the 2D numerical model of the riveting process to the 3D numerical model of the connection. Thus, the 3D model was initialized with the proper deformed shape and the current post-riveting stress–strain state. The residual stresses and the local changes in material properties due to the riveting process were an important factor in order to get the correct structural behaviour of the model. The simulations have been carried out using the explicit finite element code LS-DYNA. The model was validated against the experimental results in order to get the correct deformation modes and the force–displacement characteristics. The numerical force–displacement curves fitted the experimental ones with reasonable accuracy. Furthermore, the model seemed to be able to describe the correct structural behaviour and thus the failure mechanisms of the self-piercing riveted connections.  相似文献

A nonlinear aeroelastic analysis method for large horizontal wind turbines is described. A vortex wake method and a nonlinear finite element method (FEM) are coupled in the approach. The vortex wake method is used to predict wind turbine aerodynamic loads of a wind turbine, and a three-dimensional (3D) shell model is built for the rotor. Average aerodynamic forces along the azimuth are applied to the structural model, and the nonlinear static aeroelastic behaviors are computed. The wind rotor modes are obtained at the static aeroelastic status by linearizing the coupled equations. The static aeroelastic performance and dynamic aeroelastic responses are calculated for the NH1500 wind turbine. The results show that structural geometrical nonlinearities significantly reduce displacements and vibration amplitudes of the wind turbine blades. Therefore, structural geometrical nonlinearities cannot be neglected both in the static aeroelastic analysis and dynamic aeroelastic analysis.  相似文献

结构非线性数值计算分析应真实反映局部损伤破坏细节,以作为损伤演化全过程分析的依据。对同类构件,有限单元耦合方法可以解决破坏细节与整体模拟的空间尺度差异问题。基于能量平衡原理,建立了梁与实体单元、梁与壳单元以及壳与实体单元的耦合方程,适用于结构的损伤数值计算。对某RC框架结构原位推覆试验的损伤数值分析表明,有限单元耦合模型能正确反映整体结构的承载力和变形性能,并且能准确反映局部损伤破坏细节。  相似文献

In many multibody system applications, the system components are made of structural elements that can have different orientations, leading to slope discontinuities. In this paper, a numerical investigation of a new procedure that can be used to model structures with slope discontinuities in the finite element absolute nodal coordinate formulation (ANCF) is presented. This procedure can be applied to model slope discontinuities in the case of commutative rotations of gradient deficient elements that are used for modeling thin beam and plate structures. An important special case to which the proposed procedure can be applied is the case of all planar gradient deficient ANCF finite elements. The use of the proposed method leads to a constant orthogonal element transformation that describes an arbitrary initial configuration. As a consequence, one obtains, in the case of large commutative rotations and large deformations, a constant mass matrix for structures which have complex geometry. The procedure used in this investigation to model slope discontinuities requires the use of the concept of the intermediate finite element coordinate system. For each finite element, a new set of gradient coordinates that define, at the discontinuity node, the element deformation with respect to the intermediate element coordinate system is introduced. These new gradient coordinates are assumed to be equal for the two finite elements at the point of intersection. That is, the change of the gradients of two elements at the intersection point from their respective intermediate initial reference configuration is assumed to be the same. This procedure leads to a set of linear algebraic equations that define the orthogonal transformation matrix for the finite element. Numerical examples are presented in order to demonstrate the use of the proposed procedure for modeling slope discontinuities.  相似文献

静气动弹性问题考虑弹性结构与定常气动力间的相互耦合作用,对飞行器的性能和安全具有显著的影响.在现代飞行器设计阶段,计算流体力学(CFD)/计算结构力学(CSD)直接耦合方法是精确考察静气动弹性影响的重要手段.然而,基于CFD技术的气动力仿真手段在耦合过程中计算量大且耗时长,难以满足设计阶段的需求.因此,为了兼顾计算精度与效率,文章采用本征正交分解(POD)和Kriging代理模型相结合的模型降阶方法,替代CFD求解过程并耦合有限元分析(FEA)方法,建立了高效、准确的静气动弹性分析框架.相较于传统的以模态法为主的静气动弹性分析方法,该方法能够解决更为复杂的静气动弹性问题以及提供静气动弹性变形过程中的气动分布载荷.针对典型三维跨声速HIRENASD机翼模型开展的马赫数、迎角变化的算例验证表明:由建立的静气动弹性分析方法与CFD/CSD直接耦合方法计算得到机翼翼梢处的静变形量间的相对误差在5%以内;同时该方法预测静平衡位置处的气动分布载荷的误差在5%以内,静气动弹性分析的计算效率至少提升了6倍.  相似文献
