Poly(siloxane‐urethane‐urea) elastomers containing both polysiloxane and polyethylene oxide (PEO) segments in the polymer chain were obtained by moisture‐curing of NCO‐terminated poly(siloxane‐urethane) prepolymers synthesized from isophorone diisocyanate and mixtures of polyoxyethylene diols and polysiloxane diols with various molecular weights. Mechanical properties of the moisture‐cured films and their swelling ability in solvent mixtures commonly used in lithium batteries were investigated, and it was found that they were greatly influenced by PEO content in the polymer. PEO content in the polymer was also found to affect very much the electric conductivity of the films after immersion in lithium salt solution in ethylene carbonate–dimethyl carbonate solvent mixture. At high contents of PEO in the polymer chain specific conductivities of the films in a range of 10?3, Scm?1 could be achieved at room temperature. Based on the results of Scanning Electron Microscopy with X‐ray Analysis (SEM/EDS) investigations and wide‐angle X‐ray scattering and small‐angle X‐ray scattering studies, it could be anticipated that the reason for good conductivity of the films might be their specific supramolecular structure that potentially facilitated lithium ion mobility. Polyurethane and poly(urethane-urea) elastomers synthesized from oligocarbonate diols are characterized by very good mechanical properties, biocompatibility and excellent resistance to both oxidation and hydrolysis and therefore are widely used in medical applications. In this paper the results of studies on hydrolytic stability of poly(urethane-urea) elastomers (PURC) obtained by moisture-curing of corresponding urethane prepolymers synthesized from isophorone diisocyanate (IPDI) and four different oligocarbonate diols (OCD) are presented. OCD were synthesized from dimethyl carbonate and 1,6-hexanediol, from cyclic ethylene carbonate and 1,6-hexanediol as well as from trimethylene carbonate. The changes of the sample weight, mechanical properties and surface properties after immersion in a standard phosphate buffer solution (pH = 7.4) for up to 3 months at 70 °C were monitored. It was shown that neither sample weight nor mechanical properties changed significantly for PURC obtained from OCDs synthesized from 1,6-hexanediol and dimethyl carbonate or ethylene carbonate what confirms good resistance to hydrolysis of those PURC. Also SEM studies of those samples before and after immersion did not reveal any surface degradation effects. However, PURC sample obtained from OCD synthesized from trimethylene carbonate showed significant changes in mechanical properties and distinct change of appearance and surface erosion after 3 months immersion. The initial decrease and later increase of stress at break observed for PURC samples during immersion, was explained by the reaction of residual NCO groups present in PURC with water leading to molecular weight increase which proceeded during immersion period in parallel to hydrolysis of carbonate bond.  相似文献

Polyisobutylene (PIB)‐based polyurethanes (PUs) exhibit unparalleled hydrolytic‐oxidative‐biologic stability and are melt processible, however, their mechanical (strength) properties are modest mainly due to insufficient H bonds. We posited and demonstrate that the ultimate properties of PIB‐PUs are enhanced, while their melt processibility is maintained, by the judicious introduction of urea linkages, i.e., strong bifurcated H bonds, in the chain. The incorporation of bifurcated H bonds in PIB‐PUs was achieved by using the conventional butane diol chain extender (CE) in combination with controlled amounts of amino alcohol as co‐chain extender (co‐CE). Polyurethanes containing both urethane and urea linkages are polyurethane‐ureas (PUU). Specifically, PIB‐PUUs prepared with PIB‐diol/MDI together with 80/20 mole % butane diol/amino butanol exhibited ~30 MPa tensile strength, ~550% elongation, ~80 Shore A hardness, and ~137 °C flow temperature. Other amino alcohols, i.e., amino ethanol, ‐propanol, and ‐hexanol, were less effective co‐CEs. 1H‐NMR and FT‐IR spectroscopies indicate the presence of bifurcated H bonds in PIB‐PUUs prepared with CE/co‐CE combinations. Characterization by differential scanning calorimetry, thermogravimetric analysis, dynamic mechanical thermal analysis, and creep experiments also suggest bifurcated H bonds in PIB‐PUU. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A series of poly(dimethylsiloxane‐urethane) elastomers based on hexamethylenediisocyanate, toluenediisocyanate, or 4,4′‐methylenediphenyldiisocyanate hard segment and polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) soft segment were synthesized. In this study, a new type of soft‐segmented PDMS crosslinker was synthesized by hydrosilylation reaction of 2‐allyloxyethanol with polyhydromethylsiloxane, using Karstedt's catalyst. The synthesized soft‐segmented crosslinker was characterized by FT‐IR, 1H, and 13C NMR spectroscopic techniques. The mechanical and thermal properties of elastomers were characterized using tensile testing, thermogravimetric analysis, differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), and dynamical mechanical analysis measurements. The molecular structure of poly(dimethylsiloxane‐urethane) membranes was characterized by ATR‐FTIR spectroscopic techniques. Infrared spectra indicated the formation of urethane/urea aggregates and hydrogen bonding between the hard and soft domains. Better mechanical and thermal properties of the elastomers were observed. The restriction of chain mobility has been shown by the formation of hydrogen bonding in the soft and hard segment domains, resulting in the increase in the glass‐transition temperature of soft segments. DSC analysis indicates the phase separation of the hard and soft domains. The storage modulus (E′) of the elastomers was increasing with increase in the number of urethane connections between the hard and soft segments. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Telechelic hydroxylated poly(3‐hydroxybutyrate) (PHB‐diol) oligomers have been successfully synthesized in 90–95% yield from high molar mass PHB by tin‐catalyzed alcoholysis with different diols (mainly 1,4‐butanediol) in diglyme. The PHB‐diol oligomers structure was studied by nuclear magnetic resonance, Fourier transformed infrared spectroscopy MALDI‐ToF MS, and size exclusion chromatography, whereas their crystalline structures, thermal properties and thermal stability were analyzed by wide angle X‐ray scattering, DSC, and thermogravimetric analyses. The kinetic of the alcoholysis was studied and the influence of (i) the catalyst amount, (ii) the diol amount, (iii) the reaction temperature, and (iv) the diol chain length on the molar mass was discussed. The influence of the PHB‐diol molar mass on the thermal stability, the thermal properties and optical properties was investigated. Then, tin‐catalyzed poly(ester‐ether‐urethane)s (PEEU) of Mn = 15,000–20,000 g/mol were synthesized in 1,2‐dichloroethane from PHB‐diol oligomers (Pester) with modified 4,4'‐MDI and different polyether‐diols (Pether) (PEG‐2000, PEG‐4000, and PPG‐PEG‐PPG). The influence of the PHB‐diol chain length, the Pether/Pester ratio, the polyether segment nature and the PEG chain length on the thermal properties and crystalline structures of PEEUs was particularly discussed. © 2017 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A series of biomedical polyurethane elastomers (PURs) based on poly(ester‐carbonate)s (PECs) and polycarbonates (PCs) were synthesized and spectrally characterized fully. PEC or PC diols were synthesized by the ring‐opening polymerization of ε‐caprolactone, trimethylene carbonate, and neopentyl carbonate catalyzed by lipase from Candida antarctica. PURs were prepared by free‐metal method from PEC or PC diols and 4,4′‐methylenebis(phenyl isocyanate), with 1,4‐butanediol as a chain extender. The physical and mechanical properties as well as hydrolytic stability of the obtained PURs were determined. The toxicity of the received polymers was evaluated using bacterial luminescence test and two protozoans assays. The presented preliminary studies suggest that PEC or PC diols prepared in this way might be applied for the synthesis of biomedical PURs with improved hydrolytic stability. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Polyurethane prepolymers are widely used in the reactive hot melt adhesives and moisture‐cured coatings. The chemically crosslinked moisture‐cured formulation based on PEG‐1000 and isophorone diisocyanate was prepared with NCO/OH ratio of 1.6:1.0. Trimethylol propane was used as a crosslinking agent. The excess isocyanate of the prepolymer was chain extended in the ratio of 2:1 (NCO/OH) with different aliphatic diols, and 4:1 with different aromatic diamines. The polymer network maturation during moisture cure was followed by dynamic mechanical thermal analyzer (DMTA) instrument. The thermal and dynamic mechanical properties of the crosslinked polymers were evaluated using thermogravimetric analysis, differential scanning calorimetric analysis and DMTA. Surface properties were evaluated through angle‐resolved X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The present article discusses the physical properties of moisture‐cured polyurethane‐urea (MCPU) containing chemical crosslinks in the hard segment. The complete moisture‐cured polymers showed amorous results toward room temperature modulus, tensile strength, hardness, thermal stability, and transparency. The surface properties showed the enrichment of soft segments. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part B: Polym Phys 44: 102–118, 2006  相似文献

Moreover, a variety of segmented poly(ether urethane) networks with different hard segment contents were obtained using 1,3‐propanediol as the chain extender. Polyurethanes include an extremely vast and varied family of polymers, exhibiting a vast range of properties and applications. Although the urethane chemical structure consists of a single carbonyl group, the vast majority of polyurethane Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) spectra exhibit two distinct adjacent carbonyl‐stretching absorbances. It was the purpose of the present research to investigate and determine the reason of occurrence of this consistently observed phenomenon. A polyurethane, designed and synthesized here as linear and containing only urethane and methylene groups, strongly exhibited two very distinct carbonyl‐stretching FTIR absorbances. A new polyurethane, exhibiting an extremely high degree of trifunctional crosslinking, was hereby designed and synthesized to sterically inhibit diisocyanate access to already established urethanes and thus inhibit the allophanate and further tertiary oligo‐uret forming side‐reactions. The resulting polymer dramatically exhibited only a single, strong and sharp, carbonyl‐stretching FTIR absorbance belonging only to the urethane group. Synthesis of a polymer exhibiting a lower degree of crosslinking led to the reappearance of the split double carbonyl‐stretching FTIR absorbance. Solid‐state 13C NMR measurement results of the same polymers were highly consistent with the FTIR spectroscopy results. The experimental results of the present research conclusively prove and determine the exclusive side‐reaction‐related double carbonyl‐stretching absorbance in the FTIR analysis of polyurethanes. These research results conclusively reveal that, in fact, the so‐called linear polyurethanes synthesized from diisocyanates and diols are branched or even loosely crosslinked.  相似文献

Supramolecular polyurethane ureas are expected to have superior mechanical properties primarily due to the reversible, noncovalent interactions such as hydrogen bonding interactions. We synthesized polyurethane prepolymers from small molecular weight of poly(tetramethylene ether)glycol and isophorone diisocyanates, which were end capped with propylamine to synthesize polyurethane ureas with high contents of urea and urethane groups for hydrogen‐bonding formations to facilitate self‐healing. The effects of polyurethane urea molecular weight (3000 ≤ Mn ≤ 9000), crosslinking, and cutting direction were studied in terms of thermal, mechanical, and morphological properties with an emphasis on the self‐healing efficiency. It was found that the thermal self‐healability was more pronounced as the molecular weight of polyurethane urea decreased, showing a maximum of more than 96% with 3000 Mn when the sample was cut along the stretch direction. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The synthesis of hydroxyproline‐based telechelic prepolymers by the condensation polymerization of trans‐4‐hydroxy‐N‐benzyloxycarbonyl‐L ‐proline methyl ester was investigated. All the polymerizations were carried out in the melt with stannous octoate as the catalyst and with different diols. The products were characterized by differential scanning calorimetry, proton nuclear magnetic resonance, infrared spectrophotometry, and inherent viscosity (ηinh). According to the analytic results, the ηinh value of the prepolymers depended on the kind and amount of diols that were added. With an increase in the 1,6‐hexanediol feed from 2 to 10 mol %, there was a decrease in ηinh from 0.78 to 0.41 along with a decrease in the glass‐transition temperature (Tg ) from 63 to 42 °C. When 2 mol % of different kinds of diols were used, ηinh ranged from 0.78 to 0.21, and Tg varied from 70 to 43 °C. These new prepolymers could be linked to poly(ester‐urethane) by the chain extender 1,6‐hexamethylene diisocyanate. The poly(ester‐urethane) was amorphous, and the Tg was 76 °C. © 2000 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. J Polym Sci A: Polym Chem 38: 2449–2455, 2000  相似文献

The physical and mechanical properties of aliphatic homopolyesters from monomers obtainable from renewable resources, namely, 1,3‐propanediol and succinic acid, were improved by their combination with aromatic urethane segments capable of establishing strong intermolecular hydrogen bonds. Segmented poly(ester‐urethane)s were synthesized from dihydroxy‐terminated oligo(propylene succinate)s chain‐extended with 4,4′‐diisophenylmethane diisocyanate. The newly synthesized materials were exhaustively characterized by 1H NMR spectroscopy, size exclusion chromatography, differential scanning calorimetry, dynamic mechanical analysis, and with respect to their main static mechanical properties, an Instron apparatus was used. The average repeat number of the hard segments, evaluated by NMR, ranged from 4 to 9, whereas that of the flexible segments was about 14. The degree of crystallinity, glass‐transition temperature, melting point, tensile strength, elongation, and Young's modulus were influenced by the ratio between hard and soft segments of the segmented copolymer in a predictable way. The results demonstrated that poly(ester‐urethane)s from 1,3‐propanediol and succinic acid are promising thermoplastics. © 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Catalyst and temperature driven melt polycondensation reaction was developed for natural L‐amino acid monomers to produce new classes of poly(ester‐urethane)s. Wide ranges of catalysts from alkali, alkali earth metal, transition metal and lanthanides were developed for the condensation of amino acid monomers with diols to yield poly(ester‐urethane)s. A‐B Diblock and A‐B‐A triblock species were obtained by carefully choosing mono‐ or diols in model reactions. More than two dozens of transition metal and lanthanide catalysts were identified for the polycondensation to yield high molecular weight poly(ester‐urethane)s. Theoretical studies revealed that the carbonyl carbon in ester possessed low electron density compared to the carbonyl carbon in urethane which driven the thermo‐selective polymerization process. Optical purity of the L‐amino acid residues in the melt polycondensation process was investigated using D‐ and L‐isomers and the resultant products were analyzed by chiral‐HPLC and CD spectroscopy. CD analysis revealed that the amino acid based polymers were self‐assembled as β‐sheet and polyproline type II secondary structures. Electron and atomic force microscopic analysis confirmed the formation of helical nano‐fibrous morphology in poly(ester‐urethane)s. The newly developed melt polycondensation process is very efficient and optimized for wide range of catalysts to produce diverse polymer structures from natural L‐amino acids. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. In this study, biobased furan dicarboxylate polyesters have been prepared using 2,5‐furandicarboxylic acid (FDCA) and diols with high number of methylene groups (long‐chain diols), namely, 8, 9, 10, and 12. Because of the high boiling points of these diols, a modified procedure of the well‐known melt polycondensation was applied in this work. According to this, the dimethyl ester of FDCA (DMFD) reacted in the first transesterification stage with the corresponding diols forming bis‐hydroxy‐alkylene furan dicarboxylates (BHFD). In the second stage, the BHFD reacted with DMFD again at temperatures of 150–170 °C (for 4–5 h), and in the final stage, the temperature was raised to 210–230 °C (vacuum was applied for 2–3 h). The molecular weight of the polyesters and the content of oligomers, as was verified by gel permeation chromatography analysis, depend on the polycondensation time and temperature. The chemical structure of the polyesters was verified from 1H NMR spectroscopy. All the polymers were found to be semicrystalline, with melting temperatures from 69 to 140 °C depending on the diol used. In addition, the mechanical properties also varied with the type of diol. The higher values were observed for poly(octylene 2,5‐furanoate), whereas the lowest values were observed for poly(dodecylene 2,5‐furanoate) with the higher number of methylene groups in its repeating unit. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Novel copolycarbonates containing 1,4:3,6‐dianhydro‐D ‐glucitol or 1,4:3,6‐dianhydro‐D ‐mannitol units, with various methylene chain lengths, were synthesized by bulk and solution polycondensations, of several combinations of carbonate‐modified sugar derivatives and aliphatic diols. Bulk polycondensations of 1,4:3,6‐dianhydro‐2,5‐bis‐O‐(phenoxycarbonyl)‐D ‐glucitol or 1,4:3,6‐dianhydro‐2,5‐bis‐O‐(phenoxycarbonyl)‐D ‐mannitol with four α,ω‐alkanediols having methylene chain lengths of 4, 6, 8, and 10, respectively, at 180 °C afforded the corresponding copolycarbonates with number‐average molecular weight (Mn) values up to 19.2 × 103. 13C NMR analysis disclosed that these polymers had scrambled structures in which the sugar carbonate and aliphatic carbonate moieties were nearly randomly distributed along a polymer chain. However, solution polycondensations between 1,4:3,6‐dianhydro‐2,5‐bis‐O‐(p‐nitrophenoxycarbonyl)‐D ‐glucitol or 1,4:3,6‐dianhydro‐2,5‐bis‐O‐(p‐nitrophenoxycarbonyl)‐D ‐mannitol, and the α,ω‐alkanediols in sulfolane or dimethyl sulfoxide at 60 °C gave well‐defined copolycarbonates having regular structures consisting of alternating sugar carbonate and aliphatic carbonate moieties with Mn values up to 33.8 × 103. Differential scanning calorimetry demonstrated that all the copolycarbonates were amorphous with glass‐transition temperatures ranging from 1 to 65 °C, which decreased with increasing lengths of the methylene chain of the aliphatic diols. Additionally, all the copolycarbonates were stable up to 310–330 °C as estimated by thermogravimetric analysis. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Hydrogen‐bonded supramolecular polymers were prepared from the derivatives of α‐amino‐ε‐caprolactam (ACL), obtained from a renewable resource. Several self‐complimentary bis‐ or tetra‐caprolactam monomers were synthesized by varying the number of carbons of the spacer between the hydrogen‐bonding end groups. Physical properties of these hydrogen‐bonded polymers were clearly demonstrated by differential scanning colorimetry, solid‐state NMR, and X‐ray powder diffraction analyses. The supramolecular behavior was also supported by fiber formation from the melt for several of these compounds, and stable glassy materials were prepared from the physical mixtures of two different biscaprolactams. The self‐association ability of ACL was also used by incorporating ACL at the chain ends of low‐molecular weight Jeffamine (Mn = 900 g/mol) using urea and amide linkages. The transformation of this liquid oligomer at room temperature into a self‐standing, transparent film clearly showed the improvement in mechanical properties obtained by the introduction of terminal hydrogen‐bonding groups. Finally, the use of monomers with a functionality of four gave rise to network formation either alone or combination with bifunctional monomers. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A novel fluorinated chain extender, (1‐(ethyl(2‐hydroxyethyl)amino)‐3‐ ((3,3,4,4,5,5,6,6,7,7,8,8,8‐tridecafluorooctyl)oxy)propan‐2‐ol) (FPO), was synthesized and characterized by nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), and elemental analysis. Poly (ether urethane)s containing various amounts of the chain extender with fluorinated side chains (FPUs) were prepared by isophorone diisocyanate (IPDI), polytetra‐methylene‐ether‐glycol (PTMG), 3‐aminopropyltriethoxysilane (KH‐550), and 1,4‐butandiol (BDO). Films of FPUs were investigated by water absorption, contact angle, pencil hardness, adhesive force, and thermal analysis. Coating FPUs on micro‐nano concave‐convex structure plate realizes superhydrophobic performance. Scanning electron microscope (SEM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM) demonstrated that there is a lot of irregular concave‐convex structure, which forms a typical air cushion model. X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) analysis showed that surface fluorine content is 165% more than that of film average fluorine content. The superhydrophobic plate with 10% or higher F‐containing FPUs coating is of outstanding chemical corrosion resistance, excellent solvent resistance, and wear resistance.  相似文献

Collection of the single crystal X‐ray refraction data of the Bisphenol‐A‐type Macrocyclic oligocarbonate trimer (c‐3mer) at room temperature was carried out. The single crystal of the cyclic trimer that is recrystallized from ethyl acetate showed solvent molecule in the center of macro ring. Similarly, cyclic tetramer (c‐4mer) contained two p‐xylene molecules. Smaller dimer (c‐2mer) did not afford co‐crystal with solvent. Conformation of the carbonate in c‐3mer was s‐cis and s‐cis as in c‐4mer. A relationship between the conformation of carbonate and noncatalyst polymerization activity was not found. Several phenol‐urea‐formaldehyde (PUF) cocondensed resol resins were synthesized by different procedures. The curing kinetics and network properties of these PUF resins were examined by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and dynamic mechanical thermal analysis (DMTA). A kinetic study indicated that the activation energy values of PUF resins are generally higher than those of phenol‐formaldehyde (PF) resins during curing processes, but the curing rates of PUF resins are faster than those of PF resins. The pH values of PUF systems have a significant influence on the rate constants, although they affect the activation energy very slightly. Moreover, the dependence of activation energy on the conversion showed that there are more individual reactions with different activation energies occurring during the curing processes in PUF resins than in PF resins. The decomposition of methylene ether bridges to form methylene bridges probably occurs at high temperature in PUF resins. DMTA data indicated that the network rigidity of PUF resins is slightly lower than that of PF resin. The gel point and Ttan δ2 transition measured by DMTA were consistent with the kinetic results obtained from the DSC data, but they were also related to the physical and mechanical properties of the network, especially with regard to the Ttan δ2 transition. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Low‐molecular weight oligo(carbonate‐ether) diols are important raw materials for polyurethane formation, which with tunable carbonate unit content (CU) may endow new thermal and mechanical performances to polyurethane. Herein, facile synthesis of oligo(carbonate‐ether) diols with number average molecular weight (Mn) below 2000 g mol?1 and CU tunable between 40% and 75% are realized in high activity by immortal copolymerization of CO2/propylene oxide (PO) using zinc‐cobalt double metal cyanide complex (Zn‐Co‐DMCC) in the presence of sebacic acid (SA). Mn of the oligomer is in good linear relationship to the mole ratio of PO and SA (PO/SA) and hence can be precisely controlled by adjusting PO/SA. Besides, the molecular weight distribution is quite narrow due to the rapid reversible chain transfer in the immortal copolymerization. High pressure and low temperature are favorable for raising CU. In all the reactions, the weight fraction of propylene carbonate (WPC) can even be controlled as low as 2.0 wt %, and the catalytic activity of Zn‐Co‐DMCC is above 1.0 kgg?1 cat. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
