Snow is a sound absorbing porous sintered material composed of solid matrix of ice skeleton with air (+water vapour) saturated pores. Investigation of snow acoustic properties is useful to understand the interaction between snow structure and sound waves, which can be further used to devise non-destructive way for exploring physical (non-acoustic) properties of snow. The present paper discusses the experimental measurements of various acoustical properties of snow such as acoustic absorption coefficient, surface impedance and transmission losses across different snow samples, followed by inverse characterization of different geometrical parameters of snow. The snow samples were extracted from a natural snowpack and transported to a nearby controlled environmental facility at Patsio, located in the Great Himalayan range of India. An impedance tube system (ITS), working in the frequency range 63–6300 Hz, was used for acoustic measurements of these snow samples. The acoustic behaviour of snow was observed strongly dependent upon the incident acoustic frequency; for frequencies smaller than 1 kHz, the average acoustic absorption coefficient was found below than 0.4, however, for the frequencies more than 1 kHz it was found to be 0.85. The average acoustic transmission loss was observed from 1.45 dB cm−1 to 3.77 dB cm−1 for the entire frequency range. The real and imaginary components of normalized surface impedance of snow samples varied from 0.02 to 7.77 and −6.05 to 5.69, respectively. Further, the measured acoustic properties of snow were used for inverse characterization of non-acoustic geometrical parameters such as porosity, flow resistivity, tortuosity, viscous and thermal characteristic lengths using the equivalent fluid model proposed by Johnson, Champoux and Allard (JCA). Acoustically derived porosity and flow resistivity were also compared with experimentally measured values and good agreement was observed between them.  相似文献

A new honeycomb core design has been used to increase the stiffness of the panel and applied to improve the noise transmission loss at frequencies between 100 and 200 Hz. A model is presented to predict the transmission loss of the honeycomb panels based on the structural modal parameters. A new test specimen with fiber reinforced plastic cores and face sheets had been used to investigate the effect of stiffness and damping on noise transmission loss. The measurements of noise transmission loss have been compared with data for common structural panels. The results show that the new core fabrication techniques using moulding to improve the noise transmission are effective. In comparison to a cement panel of the same mass, the honeycomb panels have higher TL at low frequencies between 100 and 200 Hz due to higher stiffness and damping. The honeycomb panels have more significant vibration responses above 500 Hz but these are limited by damping.  相似文献

Persistent phosphorescence induced by ultraviolet light in polycrystalline HfO2 and enhancement of the phosphorescence by sintering are investigated. The phosphorescence afterglow emission is in the 1.8-3.2 eV spectral range, with a peak at 2.53 eV. The afterglow intensity is significantly increased by sintering in either inert atmosphere or air. The afterglow light sum measured at room temperature for samples sintered at 1500 °C is more than an order of magnitude higher than that before sintering. In the temperature range −50 to 200 °C, three thermoluminescence (TL) peaks are observed near −10, 30, and 100 °C. The relative contribution of the low-temperature TL peak to the total TL intensity decreases after sintering, and this effect is more pronounced upon sintering in inert atmosphere. Conversely, the contribution of the TL peak near 100 °C increases after sintering. The enhancement of the afterglow by sintering is associated with the observed increase in the intensity of TL peaks at and above room temperature and attributed to an increase in the number of deep charge traps. The room-temperature afterglow time decay has a form consistent with the second-order mechanism, ∝(t0+t)n, and the best-fit values of both fitting parameters t0 and n tend to increase with the sintering temperature.  相似文献

Transmission of sound across 2-D truss-like periodic double panels separated by an air gap and in contact with an acoustic fluid on the external faces is analyzed. Each panel is made of repeated cells. Combining the transfer matrices of the unit cell forms a set of equations for the overall elastic frequency response. The acoustic pressure in the fluids is expressed using a source boundary element method. Adding rigid reflecting end caps confines the air in the gap between panels which influences sound transmission. Measured values of transmission loss differ from the 2-D model by the wide low-frequency dip of the mass-spring-mass or “msm” resonance also termed the “air gap resonance”. In this case, the panels act as rigid masses and the air gap acts as an adiabatic air spring. Results from the idealized 3-D and 2-D models, incorporating rigid cavities and elastic plates, reveal that the “msm” dip is absent in 2-D models radiating into a semi-infinite medium. The dip strengthens as aspect ratio approaches unity. Even when the dip disappears in 2-D, TL rises more steeply for frequencies above the “msm” frequency.  相似文献

A new active layer for CO2 sensing based on semiconducting CuO-CuxFe3−xO4 (with 0 ≤ x ≤ 1) nanocomposite was prepared by radiofrequency sputtering from a delafossite CuFeO2 target using a specific in situ reduction method followed by post annealing treatment in air. The tenorite-spinel ferrite nanocomposite layer was deposited on a simplified test device and the response in a carbon dioxide atmosphere was measured by varying the concentration up to 5000 ppm, at different working temperatures (130-475 °C) and frequencies (0.5-250 kHz). The results showed a high response of 50% (Rair/RCO2=1.9) at 250 °C and 700 Hz for a CO2 concentration of 5000 ppm.  相似文献

The electrochemical performance of porous La0.6Sr0.4Co0.2Fe0.8O3  δ (LSCF) cathodes is improved by inserting a dense LSCF layer. A 200 nm thin layer is deposited on the electrolyte substrate by pulsed laser deposition, prior to the screen printing process. This procedure enhances the adherence of the porous cathode layer to the electrolyte and allows a lower sintering temperature, which reduces grain growth during sintering. In air a decrease in polarization resistance with a factor of 3 is observed for electrodes sintered at 1100 °C. The apparent electrolyte resistance is also reduced with the dense PLD layer. A remarkable change in Po2 dependence is observed for the Gerischer parameters that describe part of the electrode impedance, indicating a possible change in the oxygen transfer mechanism.  相似文献

An anisotropic model for calculating natural frequency of arterial walls is proposed in this paper. The first-order shear deformation theory (FSDT) is used for the arterial walls, and the wave propagation approach is applied that can easily handle the boundary conditions. Results obtained using this model have been evaluated against those available in the literature and the agreement has been found to be good. Experiments were carried out on a natural rubber latex tube. The relative differences of the first four natural frequencies between the experiment and the theory are less than 7%. The variation of the natural frequency of this tube with the longitudinal and circumferential modes m and n is studied which suggests the first four natural frequencies are with n = 1 and m = 1-4. Simulations show that classical Donnell’s, Love’s and beam theories are not suitable for this thick tube while FSDT results closely agree with the experiment. The anisotropy of circumferential elastic modulus on natural frequencies of the tube is analyzed.  相似文献

A novel photonic crystal fiber sensing theory filled with magnetic fluid is proposed based on the change of the MF refractive index under varied magnetic field. The magnetically induced tuning of the magnetic fluid filled PCF propagation properties were investigated by the full-vector finite element method with a perfectly matched layer. Theoretical calculations show that both the effective refractive index and the effective mode area increase vs. the increased magnetic field, and the PCF filled MF with larger d/Λ is more sensitive to magnetic field. When the wavelength λ = 1550 nm, the duty ratio d/Λ = 0.9, d/Λ = 0.6, the effective refractive indexes increase respectively from 1.598279 to 1.617572, from 1.61948 to 1.632484, and the effective mode areas increase respectively from 3.561115 μm2 to 7.052360 μm2, from 6.167494 μm2 to 37.221998 μm2 as the magnetic field changes from 25 Oe to 175 Oe. This scheme provides theoretical foundation to use magnetic field to control light in photonic crystal fiber and also offers a potential method for magnetic field sensing based on the TIR-PCF.  相似文献

Quality Co68Fe4.5Si15B12.5 amorphous wires are fabricated and their giant magneto impedance (GMI) effect are investigated at frequencies ranging from 0.1 to 20 MHz with or without tensile stress applied. Experimental results indicate that the GMI effect of these wires can be effectively improved by applying a small axial tensile stress. There is a pronounced increase from 1.3% to 47.3% in impedance ratio at 0.6 MHz when a stress of 103 MPa is applied. The GMI response is further increased to 261% by doing so at 15 MHz. The field sensitivity of these wires is optimized and it increases from 0.55 to 2.73%/(A/m) at 0.6 MHz and it is proved that the most sensitive field response is obtained by applying a tensile stress of 84.5 MPa below 1 MHz. With reference to the stress evolution of sensitivity at varying frequencies, the maximum field sensitivity shifts to a lower stress with increasing frequency. Quantitatively, a stress as small as 18.4 MPa is enough to yield a field sensitivity as high as 6.7%/(A/m) at 15 MHz. This demonstrates the possibility of achieving small stress (<100 MPa) induced large enhancement of GMI effect and field sensitivity at frequencies of several tens of MHz that are of much technical interest in sensor applications.  相似文献

Highly effective piezoelectric polymer transducers operating in air at high frequencies have been successfully made by casting a solution of ferroelectric poly(vinylidene fluoride-co-trifluoroethylene) P(VDF/TrFE) directly on a backing metal plate, and their performance has been evaluated. By utilizing this method, it has been possible to develop the three kinds of transducers that operate respectively at 4, 6 and 10 MHz in air. For precise evaluation of the performance of the P(VDF/TrFE) transducers, the absorption loss in air was measured up to 10 MHz. It was confirmed that the empirical formula obtained from the measured absorption values in air at high frequencies was in alignment with its theoretical value. In addition, a high lateral resolution acoustic image of a ROM-Chip (amplitude-image) at 6 MHz in air was successfully displayed using an air coupled concave type P(VDF/TrFE) transducer by bonding an epoxy adhesive.  相似文献

This paper proposes a model for acoustic radiation impedance of the mouth in the form of the equivalent electrical network. Five known models of radiation impedance are compared: radiation of a circular piston set in a spherical baffle: radiation of a circular piston set in an infinite baffle, the Flanagan model, the Wakita and Fant model, and the Stevens, Kasowski and Fant model. The proposed model most accurately approximates the radiation impedance of a circular piston set in a spherical baffle. Differences between the acoustic resistance and reactance calculated by the proposed model and the piston set in a spherical baffle of 9 cm radius are relatively small in the kr < 2 region. The deviations in calculated values of the acoustic resistance and the reactance are within ±0.023 × ρc/Am and ±0.008 × ρc/Am, respectively, where Am denotes the area of the mouth aperture. The accuracy of the proposed model is demonstrated by vowel formant frequency calculations. Differences in formant frequencies calculated by applying the proposed model and the piston set in a spherical baffle model are less than 0.3%.  相似文献

The radiative quantum efficiencies η of the CdSe/ZnS core-shell nanoparticles embedded into polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) and suspended in three different solvents: chloroform (CHCl3), toluene (C6H5CH3) and tetrahydrofuran (C4H8O) were measured using thermal lens (TL) technique. The mode-mismatched pump-probe TL measurements were accomplished in function of the CdSe/ZnS quantum-dot concentration (12-60 mg/ml) at λe = 594 nm (pump) and λp = 632.8 nm (probe). The values obtained for η were higher for CdSe/ZnS nanoparticles suspended in tetrahydrofuran and chloroform, as compared to the values for toluene. Thermal diffusivity (D) and the absolute nonradiative quantum efficiency (φ) were determined.  相似文献

The radial variations in the velocity of longitudinal waves propagating through Japanese cedar and Japanese cypress were experimentally investigated. In addition, the tracheid length (TL), microfibril angle (MFA), air-dried density (AD), and moisture content (MC) were measured in order to determine the effect of wood properties on velocity variations within the wood trunk. For both species, the longitudinal wave velocities measured in the longitudinal direction (VL) exhibited minimum values near the pith. For Japanese cedar, VL increased from 3600 m/s toward the bark and soon attained a constant value (=4500 m/s). On the other hand, for Japanese cypress, VL kept increasing from 4000 m/s near the pith to 4800 m/s at the bark. These radial variations in VL coincided with those in the tracheid length. VL exhibited strong correlations with TL and MFA with a significant level of (< 0.01). These findings suggest that the TL and MFA greatly affect the radial variation in the ultrasonic wave velocity in softwood.  相似文献

Luminescence characteristics of Ca1−xSrxS:Ce (x = 0, 0.25, 0.50, 1) nanophosphors have been investigated. XRD of all the samples show a single cubic phase of Ca1−xSrxS:Ce. TEM micrographs exhibit the rod like structure of the samples with a decrease in diameter with decreasing amount of Ca. The results of TEM were found to be in good agreement with the XRD results. The photoluminescence spectrum comprises of a main peak in the range 480-510 nm with a shoulder in the range 530-565 nm, which may be ascribed to transitions from 5d-4f levels of cerium in the mixed host lattice. The red shift in the emission wavelength with increasing Ca content may be correlated with the change in crystal field of mixed host lattice for different Ca and Sr concentrations. We have also investigated TL response of Ca1−xSrx:Ce to 60Co-γ rays. All the samples with different Sr and Ca contents show different TL response. TL response for the sample with x = 0.75 shows the simplest TL glow curve with the maximum TL intensity, for which we have calculated the activation energy using glow curve deconvolution functions.  相似文献

Na0.5Bi(0.5−x) SmxTiO3 (NBST) ceramics with x=0.05, 0.1, and 0.15 are prepared through chemical route. The X-ray diffraction studies confirmed the formation of single phase. Dielectric measurements in the temperature region ranging from room temperature (∼30 °C) to 600 °C at different frequencies (10 kHz-1 MHz) showed anomalies at 130, 306, and 474 °C (at 10 kHz frequency) for x=0.05 sample. Other samples showed only two peaks. To establish the electrical nature of these relaxations, impedance measurements are done at different temperatures and frequencies. The relaxation time, obtained from both impedance and modulus data, is found to decrease with increase in temperature. The relaxations observed are of non-Debye type. Increase in samarium content increases the activation energy for relaxation.  相似文献

We have obtained the first experimental evidence for the Pockels effect of water, which is induced by a high electric field in the electric double layer (EDL) on the water-transparent electrode interface. The electric-field induced energy shift of the visible interference fringes of a 300 nm indium-tin-oxide (ITO) electrode layer is observed, indicating a negative refractive index change at the interface. Numerical calculation reproduces well the experimental observation, showing that the signal mainly originates from water in the EDL. The Pockels constants of water are estimated to be r33 = 5.1 × 100 pm/V and r13 = 1.7 × 100 pm/V. The large anisotropy of the Pockels effect of water is deduced from the incidence angle dependence of the p-polarization signal. At the same time, the ITO shows a blue shift of the band gap in the UV due to the band population effect in the space charge layer. The plasma frequency in the near IR is also expected to increase due to the band population effect, since the ITO has a high doped carrier population close to metal. A negative refractive index change in the ITO space charge layer is induced from both effects, but its effect on the signal is estimated to be much smaller than that of the negative refractive index change of water in the EDL.  相似文献

This paper describes a detailed experimental study of the thermoluminescence (TL) properties of four binary lead-silicate glasses, with PbO concentrations ranging from 32% to 62% in mole percent. The TL glow peaks between room temperature and 300 °C were analyzed using a systematic thermal cleaning technique. The Tmax-Tstop and E-Tstop methods of analysis were used to identify the number of peaks under the glow curves, and to obtain the activation energy E for each TL trap. A computerized glow curve fitting analysis is used to fit the experimental data to four first-order peaks with maxima at temperatures of 54, 80, 110 and 210 °C, as measured with a heating rate of 2 °C/s. The kinetic parameters of the glow-peak at 210 °C were confirmed by using phosphorescence decay methods of analysis. The TL traps associated with the low-temperature TL peak at 54 °C are found to depend strongly on the PbO concentration of the samples, while the higher-temperature TL peaks show a behavior independent of the PbO concentration. The activation energy E and frequency factor s of the low-temperature TL trap associated with the peak at 54 °C are consistent with a trap involving a delocalized transition through the conduction band. However, the activation energies and frequency factors for the higher-temperature TL traps are consistent with traps involving localized transitions via an excited state below the conduction band. The data suggest that these higher-temperature TL traps are associated with the common silicate matrix in these binary silicate glasses.  相似文献

Glasses with composition x(ZnO,Fe2O3)(65 − x)SiO220(CaO,P2O5)15Na2O (6 ≤ x ≤ 21 mol%) were prepared by melt-quenching technique. Bioactivity of the glasses was investigated in vitro by examining apatite formation on the surface of glasses treated in acellular simulated body fluid (SBF) with ion concentrations nearly equal to those in human blood plasma. Formation of bioactive apatite layer on the samples treated in SBF was confirmed by using Fourier transform infrared reflection (FTIR) spectroscopy, grazing incidence X-ray diffraction (GI-XRD) and scanning electron microscope (SEM) equipped with energy dispersive X-ray spectrometer. Development of an apatite structure on the surface of the SBF treated glass samples as functions of composition and time could be established using the GI-XRD data. FTIR spectra of the glasses treated in SBF show features at characteristic vibration frequencies of apatite after 1-day of immersion in SBF. SEM observations revealed that the spherical particles formed on the glass surface were made of calcium and phosphorus with the Ca/P molar ratio being close to 1.67, corresponding to the value in crystalline apatite. Increase in bioactivity with increasing zinc-iron oxide content was observed. The results have been used to understand the evolution of the apatite surface layer as a function of glass composition and immersion time in SBF.  相似文献

Samples of natural andalusite (Al2SiO5) crystal have been investigated in terms of thermoluminescence (TL) and electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) measurements. The TL glow curves of samples previously annealed at 600 °C for 30 min and subsequently gamma-irradiated gave rise to four glow peaks at 150, 210, 280 and 350 °C. The EPR spectra of natural samples heat-treated at 600 °C for 30 min show signals at g=5.94 and 2.014 that do not change after gamma irradiation and thermal treatments. However, it was observed that the appearance of a paramagnetic center at g=1.882 for the samples annealed at 600 °C for 30 min followed gamma irradiation. This line was attributed to Ti3+ centers. The EPR signals observed at g=5.94 and 2.014 are due to Fe3+. Correlations between EPR and TL results of these crystals show that the EPR line at g=1.882 and the TL peak at 280 °C can be attributed to the same defect center.  相似文献

The ac electrical properties of 5-10% Fe doped polycrystalline sample have been investigated by complex impedance analysis over the frequency and temperature ranges of 1-100 kHz and 77-300 K, respectively. The average normalized change (ΔZ′/Δf)/Z0 has been deduced for these Fe doped CMR samples which shows an increasing trend with iron doping. The most pronounced effect of frequencies is at Tc, with the increase of Fe doping it is observed that not only Tc is lowered substantially but also the height of the peaks of real part of impedance (Z′) is increased which in turn decreases considerably with the increase of the ac field. An equivalent circuit model, Rg(RgbCgb), i.e. a resistor-capacitor network, has been proposed to explain the impedance results at different temperatures. The plot between τ and 1/T gives a straight line from where relaxation time (τ0) has been deduced. The correlated barrier hopping (CBH) model has been employed and the binding energy of the defect states is estimated to be between 0.39 and 0.25 eV while the minimum hoping distance varies within the range of 2.93-5.21 Å for these 5-10% Fe doped LCM samples.  相似文献
