A single phase manganese ferrite powder have been synthesized through the thermal decomposition reaction of MnC2O4·2H2O-FeC2O4·2H2O (1:2 mole ratio) mixture in air. DTA-TG, XRD, Mössbauer spectroscopy, FT-IR and SEM techniques were used to investigate the effect of calcination temperature on the mixture. Firing of the mixture in the range 300-500 °C produce ultra-fine particles of α-Fe2O3 having paramagnetic properties. XRD, Mössbauer spectroscopy as well as SEM experiments showed the progressive increase in the particle size of α-Fe2O3 up to 500 °C. DTA study reveals an exothermic phase transition at 550 °C attributed to the formation of a Fe2O3-Mn2O3 solid solution which persists to appear up to 1000 °C. At 1100 °C, the single phase MnFe2O4 with a cubic structure predominated. The Mössbauer effect spectrum of the produced ferrite exhibits normal Zeeman split sextets due to Fe3+ions at tetrahedral (A) and octahedral (B) sites. The obtained cation distribution from Mössbauer spectroscopy is (Fe0.92Mn0.08)[Fe1.08Mn0.92]O4.  相似文献

MnFe2O4 nanoparticles have been synthesized with a sol-gel method. Both differential thermal and thermo-gravimetric analyses indicate that MnFe2O4 nanoparticles form at 400 °C. Samples treated at 450 and 500 °C exhibit superparamagnetism at room temperature as implied from vibrating sample magnetometry. Mössbauer results indicate that as Mn2+ ions enter into the octahedral sites, Fe3+ ions transfer from octahedral to tetrahedral sites. When the calcination temperature increases from 450 to 700 °C, the occupation ratio of Fe3+ ions at the octahedral sites decreases from 43% to 39%. Susceptibility measurements versus magnetic field are reported for various temperatures (from 450 to 700 °C) and interpreted within the Stoner-Wohlfarth model.  相似文献

DTA-TG experiment of CuC2O4-CdC2O4·3H2O (1:1 mol ratios) mixture in air shows that the mixture was completely decomposed to CuO-CdO mixture through three well-defined steps. Intermediate decomposition products as well as the final products were characterized using X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) techniques.XRD experiments show the absence of any formed solid solution even by raising the calcination temperature from 400 to 800 °C. The increase in the intensity of the diffraction lines by raising the temperature can be attributed to the grain growth of the decomposition products as revealed by SEM and nitrogen adsorption isotherm experiments. Kinetic analysis of the oxalate decomposition steps according to the composite integral method showed that the decomposition is best described by the Avrami-Erofeev equation (A2) characteristic of the solid-state nucleation growth mechanism. The activation parameters were then calculated and discussed.  相似文献

The substituted nickel ferrite (NiFe2−2xSnxCuxO4, x=0, 0.1, 0.2, 0.3) was prepared by the conventional ceramic method. The effect of substitution of Fe3+ ions by Sn4+ and Cu2+ cations on the structural and magnetic properties of the ferrite was studied by means of 57Fe Mössbauer spectroscopy, alternating gradient force magnetometry (AGFM) and Faraday balance. Whereas undoped NiFe2O4 adopts a fully inverse spinel structure of the type (Fe)[NiFe]O4, Sn4+ and Cu2+ cations tend to occupy octahedral positions in the structure of the substituted ferrite. Based on the results of Mössbauer spectroscopic measurements, the crystal-chemical formula of the substituted ferrite may be written as (Fe)[NiFe1−2xSnxCux]O4, where parentheses and square brackets enclose cations in tetrahedral (A) and octahedral [B] coordination, respectively. The Néel temperature and the saturation magnetization values of the NiFe2−2xSnxCuxO4 samples were found to decrease with increasing degree of substitution (x). The variation of the saturation magnetization with x measured using the AGFM method and that calculated on the basis of the Mössbauer spectroscopic measurements are in qualitative agreement.  相似文献

Mössbauer effect spectra of 57Fe diffused into powdered synthetic spinel, MgAl2O4, exhibit paramagnetic hyperfme structure. The iron was determined to be equally distributed between the tetrahedral and octahedral sites, with the tetrahedrally coordinated iron having a longer spin-lattice relaxation time. Analysis of the spectra taken in small applied fields between 30 and 1000 Oersted at 4.2 and 1.5 K yielded the electronic zero field splitting parameters and showed both sites to have significant departures from axial symmetry.  相似文献

Nanostructured ferroxide particles with initial formula Ni0.5Zn0.5Fe2O4 are investigated. The aim was to explore the monodomain and the superparamagnetic states of the ferrospinel and the impact of the surface magnetic disorder on the magnetization processes. Mössbauer spectroscopy (MöS) demonstrated that the ion distribution follows the general formula (Zn0.5Fe0.5)A[Ni0.5Fe1.5]BO4, where A is the tetrahedral and B, the octahedral sublattice. MöS in an external magnetic field (5 T) at 4.2 K shows non-collinearity of the sublattices’ magnetic moments and deviations in the hyperfine magnetic field that could be related to a canting effect. Magnetic measurements were applied to characterize the temperature behavior of the magnetic properties and the a.c. complex magnetic susceptibility.  相似文献

BaTiO3+MgFe2O4 material system was synthesized by hybrid chemical process using chlorides and nitrates of barium, titanium, iron, and magnesium. Magnetic properties of the composite samples measured as a function of annealing conditions indicated soft magnetic behavior. Saturation specific magnetization from 8 21 emu/g was observed for samples annealed at temperature between 950 and 1150 °C. Variation of specific saturation magnetization with respect to annealing temperature was related with the distribution of Fe cations in the tetrahedral and octahedral sites of MgFe2O4. Electrical properties of the samples annealed at different temperatures were measured to analyze the coexistence of ferroelectric phase. Dielectric constant varying from 15 to 200 with respect to frequency was observed for samples annealed from 950 to 1150 °C.  相似文献

Ni-ferrite (NiFe2O4) nanoparticles have been synthesized via a solid state reaction process. Ni and Fe bi-metallic nanoparticles in the form of Ni33Fe67 alloy nanopowder are first synthesized by simultaneous evaporation of the required amounts of pure Ni and Fe metals followed by rapid condensation of the evaporated metal flux into solid state by means of an inert gas, helium, using the process of inert gas condensation (IGC). In order to form the NiFe2O4 structure, as-synthesized samples (Ni33Fe67) are annealed for 12 h in ambient conditions at different annealing temperatures. Structural analyses show that NiFe2O4 starts to form at around 450 °C and gets progressively well defined with increasing annealing temperatures yielding particle with size ranging between 15 and 50 nm. Besides successfully forming NiFe2O4, NiO/Fe3O4 core/shell nanoparticles have also been synthesized by adjusting the annealing conditions. Three different structures, Ni33Fe67, NiO/Fe3O4, and NiFe2O4, obtained in this study are compared with respect to their structural and magnetic properties.  相似文献

CoAl0.2Fe1.8O4/SiO2 nanocomposites were prepared by sol–gel method. The effects of annealing temperature on the structure and magnetic properties of the samples were studied by X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, vibrating sample magnetometer and Mössbauer spectroscopy. The results show that the CoAl0.2Fe1.8O4 in the samples exhibits a spinel structure after being annealed. As annealing temperature increases from 800 to 1200 °C, the average grain size of CoAl0.2Fe1.8O4 in the nanocomposites increases from 5 to 41 nm while the lattice constant decreases from 0.8397 to 0.8391 nm, the saturation magnetization increases from 21.96 to 41.53 emu/g. Coercivity reaches a maximum of 1082 Oe for the sample annealed at 1100 °C, and thereafter decreases with further increasing annealing temperature. Mössbauer spectra show that the isomer shift decreases, hyperfine field increases and the samples transfer from mixed state of superparamagnetic and magnetic order to the completely magnetic order with annealing temperature increasing from 800 to 1200 °C.  相似文献

The spinel CoFe2O4 has been synthesized by combustion reaction technique. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy shows that samples are near-stoichiometric, and that the specimen surface both in the powder and bulk sample is most typically represented by the formula (Co0.4Fe0.6)[Co0.6Fe1.4]O4, where cations in parentheses occupy tetrahedral sites and those within square brackets in octahedral sites. The results demonstrate that most of the iron ions are trivalent, but some Fe2+ may be present in the powder sample. The Co 2p3/2 peak in powder sample composed three peaks with relative intensity of 45%, 40% and 15%, attributes to Co2+ in octahedral sites, tetrahedral sites and Co3+ in octahedral sites. The O 1s spectrum of the bulk sample is composed of two peaks: the main lattice peak at 529.90 eV, and a component at 531.53 eV, which is believed to be intrinsic to the sample surface. However, the vanishing of the O 1s shoulder peak of the powder specimen shows significant signs of decomposition.  相似文献

Nanocrystalline NiFe2O4 powders with different crystal sizes were hydrothermally synthesized with different alkali concentrations at 230 °C. Then the NiFe2O4 nanopowders were sintered at various temperatures to obtain NiFe2O4 ceramics with different grain sizes. The NiFe2O4 ceramic properties were strongly dependent on the grain size. With the increase in the grain size, saturation magnetization (Ms) and magnetic permeability (μ) increased, Curie temperature (Tc) decreased. Dielectric constant enhanced and dielectric loss decreased in nanoferrites. The possible mechanism of grain size dependences was discussed in detail.  相似文献

Effects of Mn substitution for Co and Fe on the structural and magnetic properties of inverse-spinel CoFe2O4 have been investigated. MnxCo1−xFe2O4 and MnyCoFe2−yO4 thin films were prepared by a sol–gel method. The observed increase of the lattice constant of MnxCo1−xFe2O4 indicates that Mn2+ ions substitute the octahedral Co2+ sites. Conversion electron Mössbauer spectroscopy data indicate that a fraction of octahedral Co2+ ions exchange sites with tetrahedral Fe3+ ions through Mn doping. Vibrating-sample magnetometry data exhibit a large increase of saturation magnetization for both MnxCo1−xFe2O4 and MnyCoFe2−yO4 films compared to that of the CoFe2O4 film. Such enhancement of magnetization can be explained in terms of a breaking of ferrimagnetic order induced by the Co2+ migration.  相似文献

Exchange bias (EB) and magnetic properties of ferrimagnetic (FI) NiFe2O4 and antiferromagnetic (AFM) NiO bulk composites, prepared by a chemical co-precipitation and post-thermal decomposition method from Fe-doped NiO matrix, have been investigated. Enhanced coercivities and shifted hysteresis loops are still observed for these samples after field cooling. But the vertical magnetization shifts are not observed. In comparison with the bulk samples, a NiO/10% NiFe2O4 nanocomposite was also prepared via direct mixture, in which both the horizontal and vertical shift in the hysteresis loops are observed at 10 K. The observed phenomena are explained in terms of interfacial exchange interaction between the two phases and the finite-size effect, respectively.  相似文献

The xFe2TiO4-(1−x)Fe3O4 pseudo-binary systems (0≤x≤1) of ulvöspinel component were synthesized by solid-state reaction between ulvöspinel Fe2TiO4 precursors and commercial Fe3O4 powders in stochiometric proportions. Crystalline structures were determined by X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) and it was found that the as-obtained titanomagnetites maintain an inverse spinel structure. The lattice parameter a of synthesized titanomagnetite increases linearly with the increase in the ulvöspinel component. 57Fe room temperature Mössbauer spectra were employed to evaluate the magnetic properties and cation distribution. The hyperfine magnetic field is observed to decrease with increasing Fe2TiO4 component. The fraction of Fe2+ in both tetrahedral and octahedral sites increases with the increase in Ti4+ content, due to the substitution and reduction of Fe3+ by Ti4+ that maintains the charge balance in the spinel structure. For x in the range of 0 ≤x≤0.4, the solid solution is ferrimagnetic at room temperature. However, it shows weak ferrimagnetic and paramagnetic behavior for x in the range of 0.4<x≤0.7. When x>0.70, it only shows paramagnetic behavior, with the appearance of quadrupole doublets in the Mössbauer spectra. Simultaneous differential scanning calorimetry and thermogravimetric analysis (DSC-TGA) studies showed that magnetite is not stable, and thermal decomposition of magnetite occurs with weight losses accompanying with exothermic processes under heat treatment in inert atmosphere.  相似文献

Nonlinear optical β-BaB2O4 (β-BBO) crystal straight lines are written in 10Sm2O3·40BaO·50B2O3 glass by irradiation of a continuous wave Nd:YAG laser operating at 1064 nm. The linearly polarized micro-Raman scattering spectra for β-BBO crystal lines are consistent with those for commercially available y-cut β-BBO bulk single-crystals, supporting that β-BBO crystal straight lines with the c-axis orientation along the YAG laser scanning direction might be single-crystals. The photoluminescence spectra with large intensities and Stark splitting are observed for β-BBO crystal lines, and it is concluded that some amounts of Sm3+ ions in the glass are incorporated into β-BBO crystal lines. Two-dimensional β-BBO crystal curved lines with a bending angle of 30° are successfully written in 10Sm2O3·42BaO·48B2O3 glass.  相似文献

The present investigation is related to the deposition of single-phase nano-sheets spinel nickel ferrite (NiFe2O4) thin films onto glass substrates using a chemical method. Nano-sheets nickel ferrite films were deposited from an alkaline bath containing Ni2+ and Fe2+ ions. The films were characterized for their structural, surface morphological and electrical properties by means of X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscope (TEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and two-point probe electrical resistivity techniques. The X-ray diffraction pattern showed that NiFe2O4 nano-sheets are oriented along (3 1 1) plane. The FT-IR spectra of NiFe2O4 films showed strong absorption peaks around 600 and 400 cm−1 which are typical for cubic spinel crystal structure. Microstructural study of NiFe2O4 film revealed nano-sheet like morphology with average sheet thickness of 30 nm. The room temperature electrical resistivity of the NiFe2O4 nano-sheets was 107 Ω cm.  相似文献

We report the optical and electronic properties of the inverse spinel ferrite NiFe2O4 and CoFe2O4 thin films deposited on single crystal sapphire by electron beam deposition. We carried out variable temperature (78–500 K) transmittance measurements on the thin films to investigate the optical properties and electronic structures of these ferrites. The absorption spectra of both NiFe2O4 and CoFe2O4 thin films show insulating characters with Ni (Co) d to d on-site transitions below 3 eV. The energy bands above 3 eV are mainly due to the O 2p to Fe 3d charge transfer transitions. The observed electronic transitions have been assigned based on the first principles calculations and comparisons with structurally similar Ni and Co-containing compounds. The Co2+ d to d transition in the CoFe2O4 thin film shows a strong temperature dependence, likely due to the spin-charge coupling effect.  相似文献

Nano-sized NiFe2−xLaxO4 ferrites (x=0.00, 0.01, 0.02, 0.03, 0.04, 0.5, 0.07 and 0.09) were synthesized for the first time by using metal nitrate and egg-white extract in aqueous medium. The ferrites were characterized by DTA-TG, XRD, TEM, FT-IR and VSM techniques. The thermal decomposition behavior revealed that the precursors were completely decomposed at about 420 °C. TEM image shows agglomerated nanoparticles with crystallite sizes agrees well with that estimated by XRD measurement. XRD patterns show a secondary phase of LaFeO3 besides the cubic structure of the La-substituted ferrites. The lattice parameters, X-ray density and crystallite size were found to increase with the increasing La content. The VSM measurement exhibited a ferromagnetic property for all the samples at room temperature. With increasing La, Ms was found to decrease while Hc increased. The decrease in the saturation magnetization is attributed to the paramagnetic properties of lanthanum, which prefer to substitute iron present in the octahedral sites. The increase in the coercivity is due to either the stronger magnetocrystalline anisotropy induced by La substitution or the change in the crystallite size.  相似文献

A recent thermodynamic model of mixing in spinel binaries, based on changes in cation disordering (x) between tetrahedral and octahedral sites [Am. Mineral. 68 (1983) 18, 69 (1984) 733], is investigated for applicability to the Fe3O4-FeCr2O4 system under conditions where incomplete mixing occurs. Poor agreement with measured consolute solution temperature and solvus [N. Jb. Miner. Abh. 111 (1969) 184] is attributed to neglect of: (1) ordering of magnetic moments of cations in the tetrahedral sublattice antiparallel to the moments of those in the octahedral sublattice and (2) pair-wise electron hopping between octahedral site Fe3+ and Fe2+ ions. Disordering free energies (ΔGD), from which free energies of mixing are calculated, are modeled by

The structural, microstructural and magnetic properties of nanoferrite NiFe2O4 (NF), CoFe2O4 (CF) and MnFe2O4 (MF) thin films have been studied. The coating solution of these ferrite films was prepared by a chemical synthesis route called sol-gel combined metallo-organic decomposition method. The solution was coated on Si substrate by spin coating and annealed at 700 °C for 3 h. X-ray diffraction pattern has been used to analyze the phase structure and lattice parameters. The scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM) have been used to show the nanostructural behavior of these ferrites. The values of average grain's size from SEM are 44, 60 and 74 nm, and from AFM are 46, 61 and 75 nm, respectively, measured for NF, CF and MF ferrites. At room temperature, the values of saturation magnetization, Ms∼50.60, 33.52 and 5.40 emu/cc, and remanent magnetization, Mr∼14.33, 15.50 and 1.10 emu/cc, respectively, are observed for NF, CF and MF. At low temperature measurements of 10 K, the anisotropy of ferromagnetism is observed in these ferrite films. The superparamagnetic/paramagnetic behavior is also confirmed by χ′(T) curves of AC susceptibility by applying DC magnetizing field of 3 Oe. The temperature dependent magnetization measurements show the magnetic phase transition temperature.  相似文献
