The seasonal variation of the 7Be activities in air and the size distribution of the 7Be aerosols were studied by using a continuous air sampler and a five stage cascade impactor. The mean monthly activity level of 7Be at the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute (KAERI) site varied from 0.5 to 4.8 Bq·m−3 and revealed a seasonal variation, in which the 7Be activity levels were high in winter and low in summer. The mass size distribution showed a bi-modal distribution with a higher peak around 0.49 μm and a smaller peak between 3 μm and 7.2 μm. The activity median aerodynamic diameter (AMAD) decreased with increasing ambient 7Be concentrations. The mean residence times by using a mean growth rate of 0.004 μm·h−1 were estimated to be 2.5–6.4 days. The AMAD has an increasing tendency with higher relative humidity. It seemed that the high humidity condition facilitated the growth of the aerosol, resulting in increased deposition rates of the aerosols and the low 7Be content in the surface air. The AMAD of the 7Be aerosols increased with an increasing temperature, but the temperature dependency of AMAD should be explained with geological and meteorological conditions.  相似文献

7Be activity concentrations were measured in the lower atmosphere at Thessaloniki, Northern Greece (40°38′N, 22°58′E) over the year 2009, a year of a particular minimum of solar activity. The mean annual activity concentration of 7Be at that year was 6.01 mBq m−3. The variability of 7Be surface concentrations related to the solar cycle appeared to be deviated about 40% between the maximum and the minimum values. A positive correlation (R = 0.97) was revealed between the activity concentrations of 7Be and the temperature, confirming that the increased rates of vertical transport within the troposphere, especially during the warmer months, resulted in carrying down to the surface layer air masses enriched in 7Be. Relatively high values of 7Be activity concentrations were observed by increasing of the tropopause height. A negative correlation (R = −0.65) between the 7Be activity concentrations and the relative humidity was due to the condensation process in the lower atmosphere which resulted in increased aerosol particle sizes with higher scavenging rates of aerosols and low activity concentrations of 7Be in the atmosphere. Influence of precipitation on the changes of 7Be activity concentrations was also observed.  相似文献

The activity concentration of beryllium-7 (7Be), a naturally occurring cosmogenic radionuclide produced in the upper atmosphere, was measured in plants on the Loess plateau of China during the growing season of 2005. The 7Be mass activity concentration on July 27 ranged from 34.8 to 147.1 Bq kg−1 in herbaceous plants, from 47.6 to 116.1 Bq kg−1 in subshrubs, and from 15.7 to 56.8 Bq kg−1 in crop plants. The 7Be mass and areal activity concentrations of a mixture of herbaceous plants increased from 66.8 to 288.7 Bq kg−1 and from 0.7 to 46.5 Bq m−2, respectively, during the growing season. On an areal basis, the fraction of 7Be in plants in the soil–plant system increased from 0.4 to 8.4% during the growing season. Positive linear correlations were found between the increases of 7Be mass and areal activity concentrations in the inter-sampling intervals and the amount of precipitation.  相似文献

Downward flux of stratospheric ozone contributes to the near ground level ozone concentrations. The intensity, amount of vertical ozone flow can be evaluated by the ratio of two cosmogenic radionuclides (33P/32P, 7Be/32P). Some examples presented in this paper are demonstrating the possibilities of this method. The application of tracer method makes evident the seasonal variations (with maxima during the spring — summer months and minima during winter) of the amount of stratospheric ozone in the ground air. Average monthly contribution from stratospheric ozone in the lower level of the atmosphere ranged from 0 to 18% in 1998–99. During short term intervals (2–3 days) the amount of the stratospheric ozone can increase up to ∼90%.  相似文献

The accurate measurement of ultra-trace concentrations of rare metals and platinum group elements in volcanic fluids is complicated by interferences, complex matrices, and preferential element partitioning. We analyzed condensed, high-temperature magmatic fluids collected from Kudryavy volcano (Kurile Islands, Russia) for Be, B, Rb, Sr, Mo, Ru, Rh, Pd, Cd, W, Re, Pt, Pb, Bi, and U using ICP-MS. The samples had three different matrices: 5 mol L–1 sodium hydroxide (NaOH, pH = 11), gas condensates of sulfuric acid (H2SO4, pH = 0), and solid elemental sulfur. Interferences and suppression/enhancement effects were investigated using standards in concentrated NaOH and H2SO4 solutions to determine adequate dilution for sample analyses, which then required very low levels of element detection (< 1 μg L–1 for most elements). Depending on the field sampling technique of volcanic gas vents, our results show significant differences in concentrations of some trace elements due to the precipitation of solid sulfur during gas condensation and variations in element volatility as a function of temperature. Near-surface air concentrations of7Be and its deposition rates were measured in the atmosphere in Bratislava from 1977 to 1994. Late spring and summer maxima were observed in the near-surface air concentrations on an annual basis. Using measured deposition rates and the calculated average tropospheric content of7Be atoms, their mean tropospheric residence time (27–48 days) was determined. An anticorrelation between the measured7Be concentration and the sunspot number with correlation factor of 0.55 was observed.  相似文献

Atmospheric fallout of7Be was measured over a 2 year period (January 1995–January 1997) at Damascus city (33 No, 727 m above sea level). The annual total deposition of7Be was found to be 420 and 634 Bq·m−2 for 1995 and 1996, respectively, reflecting a Mediterranean climate where two well recognized periods are dominant (wet and dry). The depositions in the wet periods were 303 Bq·m−2 and 517 Bq·m−2 for 1995 and 1996, respectively, while unexpected equal deposition rates in the two dry periods were found to be about 117 Bq·m−2. In addition, monthly deposition rate of7Be showed a maxima in February in 1995 and January for 1996. Moreover, a comparison has been set for our measurements and other data obtained at different locations in the world.  相似文献

To enrich cosmogenic 7Be and 22Na, artificial 137Cs and natural radium isotopes, three chemical methods were applied to large volumes (100–300 l) of ground water from Daisen Volcano, Japan. The co-precipitation method using BaSO4, Fe(OH)3 and AMP, yielded 7Be, 137Cs and radium isotope levels of nearly 100%. An ordinary ion-exchange column method, selectively recovered 22Na (77%) through two continuous column operations. 40K was satisfactorily removed in both, the co-precipitation and column methods. In addition, the simple batch method was suitable for rapid treatment even on the slope of a volcano without sacrificing yields. Low-background γ-spectrometry combined with these chemical treatments enabled the determination of extremely low-levels of 7Be, 22Na, 137Cs and radium isotopes (0.01–4 mBq/l) in ground water samples. The measurement of these nuclides of Daisen ground water provide new information on the flow system of volcanic water, including residence time, the mixing of precipitation, and the aquifer’s environment.  相似文献

The surveys of natural gamma-emitting radionuclides in soils from three basins of West Anatolia intensively used for agricultural purposes were conducted during 1998–2003. In the present study, part of the survey, the activity concentrations of 238U, 232Th and 40K in the soil samples from 43 sites distributed all over the agricultural land known as Büyük Menderes basin were determined by scintillation gamma spectrometry. The average activity concentrations and ranges of the relevant radionuclides in the soils were as follows: 238U was 29 (7–84); 232Th, 22 (10–48) and 40K, 464 (100–864) Bq kg−1. The corresponding absorbed dose rates in air from all those radionuclides were in the range of 17–81 nGy h−1 with a mean value of 46 nGy h−1 and did not exceed the world-wide average values. All dosimetric calculations were performed based on the guidance of UNSCEAR 2000 report [1].  相似文献

The experimental device used is described. Excitation functions are given for an angle of observation 150° with respect to the incident beam. The possibilities of applying these reactions to the measurement of surface lithium and fluorine concentrations are considered. The detection limits for these two elements are shown to be 5·10−3 μg·cm−2 with protons of energy between 1,350 and 1,500 keV. The method is compared with that based on the detection of prompt γ-rays from the reactions7Li(p, γ)8Be and19F(p, α γ)16O.   相似文献

Beryllium-7 (7Be) activity in maize was measured in Yangling County, Shaanxi Province, on the Loess Plateau Region of China in 2007. The 7Be mass activity concentration in maize leaf samples was significantly greater than in maize stem, maize root and maize grain samples. The 7Be activity in maize leaves accounted for 78% of the total maize 7Be activity. The 7Be mass activity concentration in maize varied from 25.4 to 122.4 Bq kg−1 and areal activity concentration held by maize from 1.2 to 111.5 Bq m−2 during the growth period. The percentage of 7Be areal activity concentration held by maize relative to the 7Be areal activity concentration measured in reference soils ranged from 0.4 to 24.2% with a mean of 13.7%.  相似文献

In this work, for the first time, we introduce a highly selective and sensitive Be(II) microsensor. 4-nitrobenzo-9-crown-3-ether (NBCE) was used as a membrane-active component to prepare a Be(II)-selective polymeric membrane microelectrode. The electrode exhibits a Nernstian response toward Be(II) ions over a very wide concentration range (1.0 × 10−4–1.0 × 10−10 M), with a detection limit of 3.5 × 10−11 M (∼350 pg/L). In fact, the electrode presents a fast response time in the whole concentration range (6 s). The proposed microelectrode can be used for at least six weeks without any considerable divergence in the potentials. The proposed membrane sensor revealed a selectivity toward Be(II) ions over a wide variety of other metal ions including common alkali, alkaline-earth, and rare-earth ions. It could be used in the pH range of 3.0–11.5. The microelectrode was successfully used as an indicator electrode for the titration of 20 mL of 1.0 × 10−6 M Be2+ solution with 1.0 × 10−4 M of EDTA. It was also applied to the direct determination of beryllium ions in beryl and binary mixtures. The text was submitted by the authors in English.  相似文献

Flexible electrode architectures based on non-functionalized (P2) and functionalized (P3) single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) were fabricated via a simple vacuum filtration process. A hybrid layer of various compositions of P2- and P3-SWNTs forms free-standing membranes (~80 μm in thickness), and their electrochemical performance was evaluated as an air electrode AEP2/P3 in zinc–air batteries. Such bifunctionalized air electrodes showed uniform surface morphology with interconnected micron-sized porous structure with high porosity (~70%). The N2 adsorption isotherms at 77 K are of type IV with BET-specific surface areas of AE(60/40) and AE(80/20) to be 130.54 and 158.76 m2 g−1, respectively, thus facilitates high active surface area for active oxygen reduction/evolution reactions. BJH pore size distribution of AE(60/40) and AE(80/20) shows maximum pores with diameter <15 nm. The zigzag interlaying of the SWNTs imparts mechanical stability and flexibility in zinc–air batteries. Zinc–air batteries with optimized compositions of P2- and P3-SWNTs in air electrode AE(60/40) had ionic conductivity ~1 × 10−2 S cm−1 and delivered higher discharge capacity ~300 mAh g−1 as compared to AE(80/20) composition. The unique properties of AE(P2/P3) studied in this work would enable flexible air electrode architectures in future metal–air batteries.  相似文献

The synthesis has been effected of new gossypol derivatives using piperidino-and morpholinoethylamines. According to their PMR spectra, these substances exist in the keto-amine form. Their action on the peroxidation of lipids (POL) of various biosubstrates has been studied. Gossypol bis(piperinoethylimine) and bis(morpholinoethylimine) in concentrations of 1·10−7–5·10−6 mM exert a pronounced antioxidant action on human blood serum and rat brain synaptosomes. In the same concentrations, these substances suppressed the POL in enzymatic and nonenzymatic systems of the oxidation of rat liver microsomes. A. S. Laser ablation inductively coupled plasma isotope dilution mass spectrometry (LA–ICP–IDMS) was applied to the direct and simultaneous determination of the platinum group elements (PGEs) Pt, Pd, Ru, and Ir in geological and environmental samples. A special laser ablation system with high ablation rates was used, along with sector field ICP–MS. Special attention was paid to deriving the distributions of PGEs in the pulverized samples. IDMS could not be applied to the (mono-isotopic) Rh, but the similar ablation behavior of Ru and Rh allowed Rh to be simultaneously determined via relative sensitivity coefficients. The laser ablation process produces hardly any oxide ions (which usually cause interference in PGE analysis with liquid sample injection), so the ICP–MS can be run in its low mass resolution but high-sensitivity mode. The detection limits obtained for the geological samples were 0.16 ng g−1, 0.14 ng g−1, 0.08 ng g−1, 0.01 ng g−1 and 0.06 ng g−1 for Ru, Rh, Pd, Ir and Pt, respectively. LA–ICP–IDMS was applied to different geological reference materials (TDB-1, WGB-1, UMT-1, WMG-1, SARM-7) and the road dust reference material BCR-723, which are only certified for some of the PGEs. Comparisons with certified values as well as with indicative values from the literature demonstrated the validity of the LA–ICP–IDMS method. The PGE concentrations in subsamples of the road dust reference material correspond to a normal distribution, whereas the distributions in the geological reference materials TDB-1, WGB-1, UMT-1, WMG-1, and SARM-7 are more complex. For example, in the case of Ru, a logarithmic normal distribution best fits the analyzed concentrations in TDB-1 subsamples, whereas a pronounced nugget effect was found for Pt in most geological samples.  相似文献

The application of an ion-guiding gas-filled hexapole collision/reaction cell in ICP-MS has been studied to characterize the analytical figures of merit that can be achieved with this approach. For the elements investigated, application of a buffer and a reaction gas resulted in improved sensitivities which are lowest for Be with about 7 · 107 cps per μg mL–1 and highest for Ba with about ?6 · 108 cps per μg mL–1. Relative standard deviations (RSD) < 0.1% were obtained. Application of the reaction gas H2 was used to suppress polyatomic ions caused by argon. The reduction amounted up to four orders of magnitude so that elements such as Ca, K, Cr, Fe, As and Se could be analyzed in nitric and hydrochloric acid or in methanol. Detection limits of 6 pg mL–1 for Cr in 2% methanol, 23 pg mL–1 for As and 9 pg mL–1 for Se in 0.28 M HCl were achieved. For other elements detection limits ?< 1 pg mL–1 were realized in the medium and high mass range. Accuracy was proved using the NIST 1643d standard reference material. The concentrations of 7Be, 210Pb and 210Po of ca. 60 parts of a whole tree of Japanese cedar and of underlying litter and soil samples were determined for studying their transfer in a forest canopy. The results suggest that the mean residence times of 7Be and 210Pb in the forest canopy were ca. 20 and 900 days, respectively, and the dry deposition rate of 7Be on the forest canopy was about a half of the total deposition rate.  相似文献

Oxygen ion transference numbers for Gd2−xCaxTi2O7 −δ (x=0.10–0.14) pyrochlore ceramics were determined at 973–1223 K by the modified e.m.f. and faradaic efficiency techniques, taking into account electrode polarization, and from the results on oxygen permeation. The ion transference numbers vary in the range 0.95–0.98 in air, increasing when the temperature or oxygen partial pressure decreases. The activation energies for the ionic and p-type electronic transport in air are 74–77 and 87–91 kJ/mol, respectively. The p-type conductivity and oxygen permeability of Gd2Ti2O7-based pyrochlores can be adequately described by relationships common for other solid electrolytes. At temperatures below 1273 K under a gradient of 10%H2+90%N2/air, average ion transference numbers for doped gadolinium titanate are not less than 0.97. Thermal expansion coefficients for Gd2−xCaxTi2O7 −δ ceramics, calculated from dilatometric data in air, are in the range (10.4–10.6)×10−6 K−1 at 400–1300 K.  相似文献

A high-volume air sampler and a high-resolution gamma-ray spectrometer have been used to measure the activity of 7Be in near-surface atmospheric aerosols at sampling frequency of 3 days week for 1 year from August 2009 to July 2010 at Beijing in the mid-latitude region of East Asia monsoon. The measurements indicate that the average concentration of 7Be was 8.39 ± 0.49 mBq m?3, which was significantly higher than values reported for other cities in the East Asia monsoon region and in the world during the same period. The maximum and minimum of the weekly means of 7Be concentration were observed in September and May, respectively. The 7Be concentrations varied in accordance with the monsoon phases. Low but frequent wet precipitation may have caused lower 7Be observed in July when southeasterly was prevailing. Higher seasonal mean of 7Be concentrations in autumn could be attributed to the abnormal atmospheric circulation in autumn 2009.  相似文献

A Doppler broadening is described of the 4438 keV spectral gamma-line observed by means of a Ge(Li) detector during the deexcitation of nuclei of12C in an inelastic scattering12C(n, n′γ)12C using an241Am−Be source as well as during the reaction9Be(α, nγ)12C taking place in the Am−Be source. The FWHM of the spectral line is equal to (90±4) keV in the latter reaction and (64±8) keV in the former process. Experimental values agree well with theoretical ones.
