A commutative ring R is said to be strongly Hopfian if the chain of annihilators ann(a) ? ann(a 2) ? … stabilizes for each a ∈ R. In this article, we are interested in the class of strongly Hopfian rings and the transfer of this property from a commutative ring R to the ring of the power series R[[X]]. We provide an example of a strongly Hopfian ring R such that R[[X]] is not strongly Hopfian. We give some necessary and sufficient conditions for R[[X]] to be strongly Hopfian.  相似文献

Abstract

We begin with the notion of K-flat projectivity. For each biframe L we then introduce a binary relation ?L on it. The K-flat projective biframes are exactly such biframes with each element a of the total (first, second) part approximated by the elements x of the total (first, second) part, x?L a and the relation ?L being stable wrt. the meet operation on L. Further on, we introduce the notion of a K-comonad and characterize K-flat projective biframes as those biframes having a coalgebra structure for the K-comonad. The K-coherent biframes and K-flat projective biframes are coreflective in all biframes.  相似文献

A poset P is called k-Eulerian if every interval of rank k is Eulerian. The class of k-Eulerian posets interpolates between graded posets and Eulerian posets. It is a straightforward observation that a 2k-Eulerian poset is also (2k+1)-Eulerian. We prove that the ab-index of a (2k+1)-Eulerian poset can be expressed in terms of c=a+b, d=ab+ba and e 2k+1=(ab)2k+1. The proof relies upon the algebraic approaches of Billera-Liu and Ehrenborg-Readdy. We extend the Billera-Liu flag algebra to a Newtonian coalgebra. This flag Newtonian coalgebra forms a Laplace pairing with the Newtonian coalgebra ka,b studied by Ehrenborg-Readdy. The ideal of flag operators that vanish on (2k+1)-Eulerian posets is also a coideal. Hence, the Laplace pairing implies that the dual of the coideal is the desired subalgebra of ka,b. As a corollary we obtain a proof of the existence of the cd-index which does not use induction.  相似文献

For a complete lattice V which, as a category, is monoidal closed, and for a suitable Set-monad T we consider (T,V)-algebras and introduce (T,V)-proalgebras, in generalization of Lawvere's presentation of metric spaces and Barr's presentation of topological spaces. In this lax-algebraic setting, uniform spaces appear as proalgebras. Since the corresponding categories behave functorially both in T and in V, one establishes a network of functors at the general level which describe the basic connections between the structures mentioned by the title. Categories of (T,V)-algebras and of (T,V)-proalgebras turn out to be topological over Set.  相似文献

Abstract

Let Gbe a finite group and Sa sporadic simple group. We denote by π(G) the set of all primes dividing the order of G. The prime graph Γ(G) of Gis defined in the usual way connecting pand qin π(G) when there is an element of order pqin G. The main purpose of this paper is to determine finite group Gsatisfying Γ(G) = Γ(S) (See Theorem 3) and to give applications which generalize Abe (Abe, S. Two ways to characterize 26 sporadic finite simple groups. Preprint) and Chen (Chen, G. (1996). A new characterization of sporadic simple groups. Algebra Colloq.3:49–58). In the paper by Furuya and Niitsuma [Furuya, M., Niitsuma, H. (2002a). On m -adic higher differentials and regularities of Noetherian complete local rings. J. Math. Kyoto Univ. 42(1):33–40], we gave a regularity criterion of complete Noetherian local rings in terms of the concept of m -adic higher differentials with some assumptions of separability on the residue fields of the local rings. The aim of this paper is to try to weaken “the separability assumptions” in a premise of the theorems in Furuya and Niitsuma (2002a).  相似文献

If \(G\) is a Hopfian abelian group then it is, in general, difficult to determine if direct sums of copies of \(G\) will remain Hopfian. We exhibit large classes of Hopfian groups such that every finite direct sum of copies of the group is Hopfian. We also show that for any integer \(n > 1\) there is a torsion-free Hopfian group \(G\) having the property that the direct sum of \(n\) copies of \(G\) is not Hopfian but the direct sum of any lesser number of copies is Hopfian.  相似文献

Suppose that V is a finite faithful irreducible G-module where G is a finite solvable group of odd order. We prove if the action is quasi-primitive, then either F(G) is abelian or G has at least 212 regular orbits on V. As an application, we prove that when V is a finite faithful completely reducible G-module for a solvable group G of odd order, then there exists v ∈ V such that C G (v) ? F 2(G) (where F 2(G) is the 2nd ascending Fitting subgroup of G). We also generalize a result of Espuelas and Navarro. Let G be a group of odd order and let H be a Hall π-subgroup of G. This paper addresses Infinitesimal Perturbation Analysis (IPA) in the class of Make-to Stock (MTS) production-inventory systems with backorders under the continuous-review (R,r) policy, where R is the stock-up-to level and r is the reorder point. A system from this class is traditionally modeled as a discrete system with discrete demand arrivals at the inventory facility and discrete replenishment orders placed at the production facility. Here, however, we map an underlying discrete MTS system to a Stochastic Fluid Model (SFM) counterpart in which stochastic fluid-flow rate processes with piecewise constant sample paths replace the corresponding traditional discrete demand arrival and replenishment stochastic processes, under very mild regularity assumptions. The paper then analyzes the SFM counterpart and derives closed-form IPA derivative formulas of the time-averaged inventory level and time-averaged backorder level with respect to the policy parameters, R and r, and shows them to be unbiased. The obtained formulas are comprehensive in the sense that they are computed for any initial inventory state and any time horizon, and are simple and fast to compute. These properties hold the promise of utilizing IPA derivatives as an ingredient of offline design algorithms and online management and control algorithms of the class of systems under study.   相似文献

A torsion-free module is called quasi-regular if each cyclic submodule is a quasi-summand. This article characterizes torsion-free Abelian groups that are quasi-regular as modules over a subring of their endomorphism ring. In particular, if G is a torsion-free Abelian group such that its ring Q E of quasi-endomorphisms is Artinian, then the left E-module G is quasi-regular if and only if the left C-module G is quasi-regular, where C is the center of its endomorphism ring E.  相似文献

Let n be an integer greater than 1. A group G is said to be n-rewritable whenever for every n elements x 1,…,x n of G, there exist distinct permutations τ, σ on the set {1,2,…, n} such that x τ(1) ··· x τ(n) = x σ (1) ··· x σ (n). In this article, we complete the classification of 3-rewritable finite nilpotent groups and prove that a finite nilpotent group G is 3-rewritable if and only if G has an abelian subgroup of index 2 or the derived subgroup has order < 6.  相似文献

Let R be a commutative ring with identity. We show that R[[X]] is strongly Hopfian bounded if and only if R has a strongly Hopfian bounded extension T such that Ic(T) contains a regular element of T. We deduce that if R[[X]] is strongly Hopfian bounded, then so is R[[X,Y]] where X,Y are two indeterminates over R. Also we show that if R is embeddable in a zero-dimensional strongly Hopfian bounded ring, then so is R[[X]] (this generalizes most results of Hizem [11 Hizem, S. (2011). Abstract

Let ω(G) denote the number of orbits on the finite group G under the action of Aut(G). Using the classification of finite simple groups, we prove that for any positive integer n, there is only a finite number of (non-abelian) finite simple groups G satisfying ω(G) ≤ n. Then we classify all finite simple groups G such that ω(G) ≤ 17. The latter result was obtained by computational means, using the computer algebra system GAP.  相似文献

Abstract

Let λ(G) be the maximum number of subgroups in an irredundant covering of the finite group G. We prove that if G is a group with λ(G) ≤ 6, then G is supersolvable. In this article we define G-algebras, that is, graded algebras on which a reductive group G, acts as gradation preserving automorphisms. Starting from a finite dimensional G-module V and the polynomial ring ?[V], it is shown how one constructs a sequence of projective varieties Vk such that each point of Vk corresponds to a graded algebra with the same decomposition up to degree k as a G-module. After some general theory, we apply this to the case that V is the n+1-dimensional permutation representation of Sn+1, the permutation group on n+1 letters.  相似文献

Let E be an order complete Banach function lattice and T a positive, eventually compact, order continuous operator on E.
