Simultaneous measurements of fluctuating velocity and pressure were performed in various turbulent free shear flows including a turbulent mixing layer and the wing-tip vortex trailing from a NACA0012 half-wing. Two different methods for fluctuating static pressure measurement were considered: a direct method using a miniature Pitot tube and an indirect method where static pressure was calculated from total pressure. The pressure obtained by either of these methods was correlated with the velocity measured by an X-type hot-wire probe. The results from these two techniques agreed with each other in the turbulent mixing layer. In the wing-tip vortex case, however, some discrepancies were found, although overall characteristics of the pressure-related statistics were adequately captured by both methods.  相似文献

The meandering of a vortex exists in a broad range of engineering applications and can lead to flow instability and other undesirable characteristics. Compared to a static vortex, measurement of a meandering vortex can result in a ‘smeared’ mean-flow field and increased levels of turbulence at the centre of the vortex. A case study was performed here on the meandering nature of a fin-tip vortex generated by a manoeuvring submarine. From stereoscopic particle image velocimetry (SPIV) measurements, it is possible to remove the meandering by shifting each instantaneous velocity field so as to produce a common centre for the vortex. In this paper, a snapshot Proper Orthogonal Decomposition (POD) technique is used to capture the dominant large-scale coherent structures (from inspection of eigenvalue or energy distributions) and to improve vortex centre identification. The POD reconstructed velocity field using only the most energetic modes enabled the coherent structures of the flow to be clearly visualised, providing improved identification of the vortex centre and subsequent evaluation of the meandering effect on the turbulent statistics. The present findings suggest that the vortex meandering only has a small impact on the ensemble-averaged resultant velocity, while contributing up to a maximum of 28% for the fluctuating component. The meandering correction also leads to an overall decrease of turbulence intensity in the peak fluctuating region of the vortex core.  相似文献

Topological aspects of the turbulent wake of a finite, surface-mounted, square-cross-section cylinder of h/d = 4 are addressed by decomposing the velocity field into a quasi-periodic coherent part and the unresolved incoherent fluctuations. The three-dimensional large scale structure is educed through a reconstruction of planar phase-averaged PIV measurements using the simultaneously sampled surface pressure difference on opposing sides of the obstacle as a phase reference. A topological model for the vortex structure is educed and mean streamwise wake vorticity is explained in terms of the connections between initially vertical structures shed alternately from either side of the obstacle, rather than previously proposed ‘tip’ vortex structures generated at the obstacle free-end. The coherent structure educed accounts for a significant portion of the fluctuating energy in the wake. The turbulent field is further analyzed by finding Lagrangian straining structures that form by induction of the coherent vorticity field, and these structures are related to the energy transfer from the base phase-averaged flow since they act to stretch incoherent vorticity fluctuations in their neighbourhood.  相似文献

利用层析TRPIV测量水洞中平板湍流边界层3D-3C速度场的高分辨率时间序列数据库. 提出了空间局部平均多尺度速度结构函数的新概念, 描述湍流多尺度涡结构的空间拉伸、压缩、剪切变形和旋转. 用空间局部平均多尺度速度结构函数对湍流脉动速度进行了空间多尺度分解. 用空间流向局部平均多尺度速度结构函数, 根据湍流多尺度涡结构在流向的拉伸和压缩物理特征, 提出了新的湍流相干结构条件采样方法, 检测并提取了层析TRPIV数据中相干结构“喷射”和“扫掠”事件中的脉动速度、平均速度变形率、雷诺应力等物理量的空间拓扑形态. 通过研究平均速度变形率各分量与雷诺应力各分量之间的空间相位差异,肯定了壁湍流相干结构雷诺应力各向异性复涡黏模型的合理性.   相似文献

Transitional jet diffusion flames provide the link between dynamics of laminar and turbulent flames. In this study, instabilities and their interaction with the flow structure are explored in a transitional jet diffusion flame, with focus on isolating buoyancy effects. Experiments are conducted in hydrogen flames with fuel jet Reynolds number of up to 2,200 and average jet velocity of up to 54 m/s. Since the fuel jet is laminar at the injector exit, the transition from laminar to turbulent flame occurs by the hydrodynamic instabilities in the shear layer of fuel jet. The instabilities and the flow structures are visualized and quantified by the rainbow schlieren deflectometry technique coupled with a high-speed imaging system. The schlieren images acquired at 2,000 frames per second allowed exposure time of 23 μs with spatial resolution of 0.4 mm. Results identify a hitherto unknown secondary instability in the flame surface, provide explanation for the observed intermittency in the breakpoint length, show coherent vortical structures downstream of the flame breakpoint, and illustrate gradual breakdown of coherent structures into small-scale random structures in the far field turbulent region.  相似文献

采用粒子数字图像测速(digital particle image velocimetry,DPIV)和定量流动显示技术(quantitative flow visualization,QFA)对充分发展的圆管湍流进行了研究。测量结果和直接数值模拟(direct numerical simulation,DNS)结果进行了比较,结果表明作者开发的DPIV技术取得了满意的精度。在此基础上对圆管湍流的动力学机理进行了研究,分析了上抛和下扫在湍流生成中的贡献以及流动显示结构内的脉动速度分布,测量结果显示在圆管湍流的近壁区存在横向强脉冲现象和流动显示所能观察到的结构为上抛占主导地位的结构。  相似文献

汽车尾部湍流场是汽车压差阻力的主要来源,在HD-2汽车模型风洞中,首先使用测力天平和测压系统,对横摆角工况下汽车模型的气动六分力和纵对称截面48个测点的表面压力进行了测量,然后利用PIV测量技术对模型在横摆角分别为0°、15°的尾部湍流场进行了测量,获得该模型尾流场的速度场、涡量场和雷诺应力流场信息,通过计算得出尾流场区域空间相关系数和湍流积分尺度。结果表明:在横摆角工况下,汽车模型尾部涡流的结构呈现向上发展的趋势;尾流场拖拽涡的范围和强度的增大导致了模型气动力出现较大的增加;湍流积分尺度的变化表明,尾部涡流区的分离噪声与涡流分离位置有关,在汽车尾部造型设计中,要尽量推迟尾部涡流的分离。  相似文献

发卡涡是湍流相干结构研究中最为关注的内容,实现发卡涡三维结构的定量测量并进行流体动力学分析,对深入研究湍流相干结构、实现湍流精准控制等具有重要意义.本研究通过对合成射流装置进行合理控制,使得层流边界层中产生了规则的人造发卡涡结构,进而用体视图像粒子测速仪(Stereo-PIV)锁相实验技术对发卡涡结构所在的三维空间流场进行了定量测量,并得到了一个完整周期内形成的发卡涡三维结构的空间流场. 结果发现,重构所得的三维发卡涡结构质量较高, 实验技术和方案具有可行性.发卡涡结构所在空间流场情况,符合目前人们对于发卡涡、高低速条带、喷射和扫掠事件的常规认识. 此外,对近壁二次流向涡、展向涡量集中区域的展向涡头和强剪切区域、与低速喷射流体相关的汇聚流动和发散流动等有了更细致的认识.同时, 也探讨了"基于二维脉动流场的相关特征去重构发卡涡三维流场"的可行性.为进一步定量探究发卡涡结构的形成演化、不同涡结构的融合及二次诱导等壁湍流相干结构问题提供思路.   相似文献

Planar velocity data of the unsteady separated flow in the turbulent wake of a circular cylinder obtained by particle image velocimetry (PIV) are analyzed in order to visualize the large-scale coherent structures associated with alternating vortex shedding at a Reynolds number of 2,150. Two different cases are examined: unforced vortex shedding in the natural wake and vortex lock-on incited by forced perturbations superimposed in the inflow velocity. Proper orthogonal decomposition (POD) is employed to reconstruct the low-order wake dynamics from randomly sampled snapshots of the velocity field. The reconstructed flow is subsequently used to determine the evolution of the finite-time Lyapunov exponent (FTLE) fields which identify the Lagrangian coherent structures. The results demonstrate that the combination of methods employed offers a powerful visualization tool to uncover large-scale coherent structures and to exemplify vortex dynamics in natural and forced bluff-body wakes.  相似文献

Two non-intrusive techniques, namely laser Doppler anemometry (LDA) and the electrochemical method, have been used for simultaneous measurements of the instantaneous streamwise velocity (U) and longitudinal wall shear stress (S), evaluated in a zero pressure gradient turbulent boundary layer. The space-time correlation between the fluctuating velocity and shear stress suggests that the coherent flow structures are propagated (i) under a slight angle of 5° in the near-wall region and (ii) at an average angle of 15.5° for y+>30. It is shown that the time shift obtained from the correlation between the LDA and the electrochemical signals is due to the dynamic behaviour of the electrodiffusion probe, but also to the leaning character of the coherent structures.  相似文献

A motion of a vortex ring in a stratified fluid is accompanied by associated disturbances which, in the schlieren visualization in the field of a horizontal density gradient, have the shape of a symmetric four-petal configuration. The criterion of the existence of the disturbances is the Froude number Fr based on the motion velocity and the vertical vortex size. On the range Fr > 1, the disturbances are stable with respect to the variation of themotion regime and the distortion of the vortex shape. For Fr < 1 the disturbances disappear. Computer processing of the schlieren photographs showed that the experimental spatial dependences of the disturbance amplitude are close to the functions describing the distribution of the vertical velocity component in the inviscid flow past a sphere.  相似文献

It is well known that the application of active flow-control strategies has the potential to increase the efficiency of many devices when compared to static actuator concepts. However, many aspects of the flow-control process are not well understood. In the case of pneumatic vortex generators the importance of coherent structures and their interaction with turbulent boundary layers remains an open question. A flat plate experiment was performed to determine the dynamic evolution of the induced vortex structures using phase-locked stereoscopic Particle Image Velocimetry. The qualification of the actuator system was performed by means of the time-resolved Particle Image Velocimetry measurements of the jet flow. The results show that an initial overshooting of the jet velocity dominates the unsteady start-up process, which results in a vortex structure of larger size and impact. This effect differs essentially from the case of steady blowing. In addition, the ability to shift high-momentum fluid into the near-wall region is a result of strong mixing combined with a minimum distance between the vortex core and the model surface.  相似文献

The process of laminar to turbulent transition induced by a von Karman vortex street wake, was studied for the case of a flat plate boundary layer. The boundary layer developed under zero pressure gradient conditions. The vortex street was generated by a cylinder positioned in the free stream. An X-type hot-wire probe located in the boundary layer, measured the streamwise and normal to the wall velocity components. The measurements covered two areas; the region of transition onset and development and the region where the wake and the boundary layer merged producing a turbulent flow. The evolution of Reynolds stresses and rms-values of velocity fluctuations along the transition region are presented and discussed. From the profiles of the Reynolds stress and the mean velocity profile, a ‘negative' energy production region along the transition region, was identified. A quadrant splitting analysis was applied to the instantaneous Reynolds stress signals. The contributions of the elementary coherent structures to the total Reynolds stress were evaluated, for several x-positions of the near wall region. Distinct regions in the streamwise and normal to the wall directions were identified during the transition.  相似文献

激波振荡是高超声速进气道不起动过程中常见的流动现象,会显著降低进气道气流捕获与压缩效率、产生剧烈的非定常气动力载荷而危害飞行器安全. 从激波振荡的控制出发,实验研究了前体转捩带位置的涡发生器对轴对称高超声速进气道激波振荡流动的影响. 分别在起动和激波振荡两种进气道流态下,选择无、0.5 mm与1 mm高度涡发生器工况进行对比研究. 并采用高速纹影与壁面动态测压同步记录非定常流动特征. 结果表明,1 mm高度内的涡发生器对起动状态的进气道主流流场结构、壁面压强分布影响不显著. 但对于激波振荡流动,涡发生器会明显缩小外压缩面分离区运动范围,缩短振荡周期,提升振荡周期内壁面压强的时均值. 涡发生器的影响程度随其高度的增大而增强,其中振荡周期从无涡发生器的4 ms缩短到1 mm高度涡发生器的3.13 ms. 此外,0.5 mm高度涡发生器会使得进气道内部测点的压强振荡幅值整体下降,相比无涡发生器工况的下降幅度可达23%. 流场结构与壁面压强信号的分析表明,涡流发生器主要通过其产生的流向涡影响激波振荡流动,包含流向涡对下游边界层的扰动以及流向涡与分离区的相互干扰.   相似文献

Complex interactions between fluid dynamics and combustion processes areamong the topics most often undertaken in recent years. The free roundflames dominated by large-scale vortex structures seem to be a veryinteresting type of flow as indicated by the many experimental resultsavailable in literature. The so-called outer coherent structures whichare believed to be generated as a result of buoyancy-driven instabilitywere experimentally investigated by means of laser Doppler anemometry.The results of spectral analysis of fluctuating velocity componentsrevealed the regular oscillations of the flow field with well-defineddiscrete frequencies depending upon the mixture composition. Theexternal excitation of coherent structures at a frequency matching theirnatural shedding frequency allowed the construction of velocity vectormaps of organised vorticity. From the results obtained one may statethat the coherent vortices are located in the outer part of flame withthe trajectory of their centres moving far from the flame front. Theirlocation and very large sizes (comparable with the flow width) suggesttheir important role in mixing and, especially, in the entrainmentprocesses which are the essential in combustion systems.The dimensionalanalysis taking into account the characteristic parameters of vorticesand thermal structure of the flame suggests that buoyancy forces havesignificant impact on organised vorticity and can be considered asresponsible for its origin.  相似文献

A theoretical model of harmonic perturbations in a turbulent mixing layer is proposed. The model is based on the triple decomposition method. It is assumed that the instantaneous velocities and pressure consist of three distinctive components: the mean (time average), the coherent (phase average), and the random (turbulent) motion. The interaction between incoherent turbulent fluctuations and large-scale coherent disturbances is incorporated by the Newtonian eddy viscosity model. A slight divergence of the flow is also taken into account, and the results are compared with experimental data. For a high amplitude of the perturbations, the nonlinear feedback to the mean flow is taken into account by means of the coherent Reynolds stresses. The results reveal the possibility of a negative spreading rate of the mixing layer. A simultaneous consideration of the mean flow divergence and nonlinear self-interaction results in Landau-like amplitude equations. It is observed that the nonlinear term in the amplitude equation is not significant at the levels of amplitude considered. The velocity disturbance profiles of the second harmonic are also presented and, at low-level amplitude, they are in good agreement with experiments.  相似文献

Development behavior of the fluctuating velocity of surfactant solution in a duct has been studied experimentally. The concentration of surfactants was kept constant at 1,000 ppm, mean velocity at 0.78 m/s and fluid temperature at 15 °C. Using laser Doppler velocimetry, the fluctuating streamwise velocity distributions at six cross sections, which ranged from 14 to 112 times of hydraulic diameter of the duct, were measured. From the results, the fluctuating structures of surfactant solution flow are observed to have structures different from that of turbulent water flow in the developing field. The wavelet analysis reveals that the high-level fluctuation of surfactant solution flow is characterized by periodicity rather than irregularity around the position where the fluctuation intensity takes a peak value and that the period and the scale of periodic flow structures are related to the relaxation times of the fluid. This indicates that the high-level fluctuation is deeply related to the elastic instability and has a different generation mechanism from that of turbulence observed in a Newtonian turbulent flow.  相似文献

为了深入了解湍流流动机理以及湍流拟序结构发现过程的影响因素,本文采用大涡模拟方法对不同入口射流伴流速度比的平面湍射流流动进行了数值模拟。采用分步投影法求解动量方程,亚格子项采用标准Smagorinsky亚格子模式模拟,压力泊松方程采用修正的循环消去法快速求解,空间方程采用二阶精度的差分格式,在时间方向上采用二阶精度的显式差分格式。模拟结果给出了平面射流中湍流拟序结构的瞬态发展演变过程,分析了入口速度比对射流拟序结构发展演化过程及宏观流场形态的影响。为进一步研究射流拟序结构及其在湍流流动中的作用提供了基础。  相似文献

20世纪60年代后, 先后从流动显示发现了快慢斑、猝发、上升流、下扫流和多种涡结构等湍流边界层的拟序结构. 它们对湍流边界层的摩阻、传热传质和湍动能的产生等特性有重要影响. 涡结构是上述拟序结构的核心, 它影响其它拟序结构的发展和演变. 发卡涡通常被认为是基本涡结构. 发卡涡等涡结构的再生, 是湍流边界层拟序结构能够自持续的必要的因素.壁面低速流上升产生猝发, 是湍流边界层湍能的主要来源; 条件采样是测量猝发频率和其它拟序结构出现频率的重要手段. 流动显示对湍流边界层拟序结构作了大量定性观察, 有许多减阻和增加传热率等应用性研究在此基础上发展起来. 80年代后, 出现了测量湍流边界层的瞬时流速矢量场的多热线法和PIV技术, 三维PIV技术可望将来为湍流边界层的实验研究带来重大进展. 本文评述了流动显示法、多热线法和PIV技术的优点和不足之处, 以及它们在对湍流边界层拟序结构的研究中的贡献.   相似文献
