We show that the Hilbert space compression of any (unbounded) finite-dimensional CAT(0) cube complex is 1 and deduce that any finitely generated group acting properly, co-compactly on a CAT(0) cube complex is exact, and hence has Yu's Property A. The class of groups covered by this theorem includes free groups, finitely generated Coxeter groups, finitely generated right angled Artin groups, finitely presented groups satisfying the B(4)-T(4) small cancellation condition and all those word-hyperbolic groups satisfying the B(6) condition. Another family of examples is provided by certain canonical surgeries defined by link diagrams.  相似文献

We investigate the palindromic width of finitely generated solvable groups. We prove that every finitely generated 3-step solvable group has finite palindromic width. More generally, we show the finiteness of the palindromic width for finitely generated abelian-by-nilpotent-by-nilpotent groups. For arbitrary solvable groups of step ≥3, we prove that if G is a finitely generated solvable group that is an extension of an abelian group by a group satisfying the maximal condition for normal subgroups, then the palindromic width of G is finite. We also prove that the palindromic width of ??? with respect to the set of standard generators is 3.  相似文献

Nagata gave a fundamental sufficient condition on group actions on finitely generated commutative algebras for finite generation of the subalgebra of invariants. In this paper we consider groups acting on noncommutative algebras over a field of characteristic zero. We characterize all the T-ideals of the free associative algebra such that the algebra of invariants in the corresponding relatively free algebra is finitely generated for any group action from the class of Nagata. In particular, in the case of unitary algebras this condition is equivalent to the nilpotency of the algebra in Lie sense. As a consequence we extend the Hilbert-Nagata theorem on finite generation of the algebra of invariants to any finitely generated associative algebra which is Lie nilpotent. We also prove that the Hilbert series of the algebra of invariants of a group acting on a relatively free algebra with a non-matrix polynomial identity is rational, if the action satisfies the condition of Nagata.

In this article, we study finitely generated reflexive modules over coherent GCD-domains and finitely generated projective modules over polynomial rings. In particular, we give a sufficient condition for a finitely generated reflexive module over a coherent GCD-domain to be a free module. By use of this result, we prove that every finitely generated projective R + [X]-module can be extended from R if R is a commutative ring with gl.dim(R) ≤ 2.  相似文献

We first consider the class of monoids in which every left invertible element is also right invertible, and prove that if a monoid belonging to this class admits a finitely presented Bruck–Reilly extension then it is finitely generated. This allow us to obtain necessary and sufficient conditions for the Bruck–Reilly extensions of this class of monoids to be finitely presented. We then prove that thes 𝒟-classes of a Bruck–Reilly extension of a Clifford monoid are Bruck–Reilly extensions of groups. This yields another necessary and sufficient condition for these Bruck–Reilly extensions to be finitely generated and presented. Finally, we show that a Bruck–Reilly extension of a Clifford monoid is finitely presented as an inverse monoid if and only if it is finitely presented as a monoid, and that this property cannot be generalized to Bruck–Reilly extensions of arbitrary inverse monoids.  相似文献

It is found the necessary condition for the lattice of quasivarieties has a finite set of coatoms. In particular if a quasivariety is generated by a finitely generated abelian-by-polycyclic-by-finite group or a totally ordered group then it has a finite set of proper maximal subquasivarieties. Also it is proved that the set of quasiverbal congruence relations of a finitely defined universal algebra is closed under any meets. We discuss residual finiteness and several related separability conditions for the class of monoid acts, namely weak subact separability, strong subact separability and complete separability. For each of these four separability conditions, we investigate which monoids have the property that all their (finitely generated) acts satisfy the condition. In particular, we prove that: all acts over a finite monoid are completely separable (and hence satisfy the other three separability conditions); all finitely generated acts over a finitely generated commutative monoid are residually finite and strongly subact separable (and hence weakly subact separable); all acts over a commutative idempotent monoid are residually finite and strongly subact separable; and all acts over a Clifford monoid are strongly subact separable.

If all finitely generated rings in a variety of associative rings satisfy the ascending chain condition on two-sided ideals, the variety is called locally weak noetherian. If there is an upper bound on nilpotency indices of nilpotent rings in a variety, the variety is called a finite index variety. We prove that the join of a finitely based locally weak noetherian variety and a variety of finite index is also finitely based and locally weak noetherian. One consequence of this result is that if an associative ring variety is connected by a finite path in the lattice of all associative ring varieties to a finitely based locally weak noetherian variety then such variety is also finitely based and locally weak noetherian.  相似文献

We first show (using ideas from Pióro, in Quasigroups Relat Syst 15:309–316, 2007) that if a finitely generated quasigroup or more general, an algebra satisfying some quasigroup-like condition, A has a distributive subalgebra lattice and satisfies the descending chain condition for finitely generated subalgebras, then A is cyclic (i.e. has one generator). But the main aim of the paper is to construct a two-generated non-cyclic quasigroup with a distributive subquasigroup lattice (as a part of this construction we will obtain an analogous example for groupoids). Thus distributivity of subquasigroup lattice is an essentially weaker condition than in the case of groups (it is well-know that such groups are locally cyclic).  相似文献

In a recent study of Engel Lie rings, Serena Cicalò and Willem de Graaf have given a practical set of conditions for an additively finitely generated Lie ring L to satisfy an Engel condition. We present a simpler and more direct proof of this fact. Our main result generalizes this in the language of tensor algebra, and describes a relatively small generating set for the module generated by all n-th tensor powers of elements of a finitely generated ?-module M, in terms of a generating set for M.  相似文献

We prove that fully residually free groups have the Howson property, that is the intersection of any two finitely generated subgroups in such a group is again finitely generated. We also establish some commensurability properties for finitely generated fully residually free groups which are similar to those of free groups. Finally we prove that for a finitely generated fully residually free group the membership problem is solvable with respect to any finitely generated subgroup.

For discrete autonomous dynamical systems, it was found that in the three conditions defining Devaney chaos, topological transitivity and dense periodic points together imply sensitive dependence on initial condition (Banks, Brooks, Cairns, Davis and Stacey, On Devaney's definition of chaos, The Amer. Math. Monthly 99 (1992), pp. 332–334). In this paper, we give the definition of finitely generated non-autonomous dynamical systems (NADS) and generalize the Banks et al. theorem to the finitely generated NADS.  相似文献

We prove a generalized Dade’s Lemma for quotients of local rings by ideals generated by regular sequences. That is, given a pair of finitely generated modules over such a ring with algebraically closed residue field, we prove a sufficient (and necessary) condition for the vanishing of all higher Ext or Tor of the modules. This condition involves the vanishing of all higher Ext or Tor of the modules over all quotients by a minimal generator of the ideal generated by the regular sequence.  相似文献
