When the sampled values are corrupted by noise, error estimates for the localized sampling series for approximating a band-limited function are obtained. The result provides error bounds for practical cases including error caused by average sampling, jitter error and amplitude error.  相似文献

In the last decade, methods based on various kinds of spherical wavelet bases have found applications in virtually all areas where analysis of spherical data is required, including cosmology, weather prediction, and geodesy. In particular, the so-called needlets (= band-limited Parseval frames) have become an important tool for the analysis of Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) temperature data. The goal of the present paper is to construct band-limited and highly localized Parseval frames on general compact homogeneous manifolds. Our construction can be considered as an analogue of the well-known φ-transform on Euclidean spaces.  相似文献

Based on a new definition of dilation a scale discrete version of spherical multiresolution is described, starting from a scale discrete wavelet transform on the sphere. Depending on the type of application, different families of wavelets are chosen. In particular, spherical Shannon wavelets are constructed that form an orthogonal multiresolution analysis. Noise shaping is a process which aims to remove as much quantization noise as possible from the spectrum of a given band-limited signal when quantizing it (recall that the spectrum of a signal is the support of its Fourier transform). We provide a mathematical analysis of such a process, using methods of harmonic analysis on the unit disc. We are especially interested in conditions under which an analytic (but not necessary polynomial) function may be used as a transfer function of the process. Stability conditions will be given under terms of metric characteristics of the transfer function (stability means that the quantizer is never overloaded). Several kinds of quantizer transfer functions will be considered, especially midtread and midriser ones. We shall restrict our analysis to the case of deterministic (i.e., not random) signals. Some knowledge of Fourier analysis and signal processing will be presupposed.  相似文献

An algorithm for fast and accurate evaluation of band-limited functions at many scattered points on the unit 2-d sphere is developed. The algorithm is based on trigonometric representation of spherical harmonics in spherical coordinates and highly localized tensor-product trigonometric kernels (needlets). It is simple, fast, local, memory efficient, numerically stable and with guaranteed accuracy. Comparison of this algorithm with other existing algorithms in the literature is also presented.  相似文献

It is shown that the topologies and nestings of the zero and nodal sets of random (Gaussian) band-limited functions have universal laws of distribution. Qualitative features of the supports of these distributions are determined. For a vector random field that is isotropic and mean square continuous on a sphere and stationary on a temporal domain, this paper derives a general form of its covariance matrix function and provides a series representation for the random field, which involve the ultraspherical polynomials. The series representation is somehow an imitator of the covariance matrix function, but differs from the spectral representation in terms of the ordinary spherical harmonics, and is useful for modeling and simulation. This paper considers spectral and autocovariance estimation for a zero-mean, band-limited, stationary process that has been sampled at time points jittered from a regular, equi-interval, sampling scheme. The case of interest is where the sampling scheme is near regular so that the jitter standard deviation is small compared to the sampling interval. Such situations occur with many time series collected in the physical sciences including, in particular, oceanographic profiles.Spectral estimation procedures are developed for the case of independent jitter and autocovariance estimation procedures for both independent and dependent jitter. These are typically modifications of general estimation procedures proposed elsewhere, but tailored to the particular jittered sampling scheme considered. The theoretical properties of these estimators are developed and their relative efficiencies compared.The properties of the jittered sampling point process are also developed. These lead to a better understanding, in this situation, of more general techniques available for processes sampled by stationary point processes.  相似文献

We introduce a class of isotropic time dependent random fields on the non-homogeneous sphere which is represented by a time-changed spherical Brownian motion of order ν∈(0,1]ν(0,1]. We can capture some anisotropies in Cosmology with this model. This process is a time-changed rotational diffusion (TRD) or the stochastic solution to the equation involving the spherical Laplace operator and a time-fractional derivative of order νν. TRD is a diffusion on the non-homogeneous sphere and therefore, the spherical coordinates given by TRD represent the coordinates of a non-homogeneous sphere by means of which an isotropic random field is indexed. The time dependent random fields we present in this work are therefore realized through composition and can be viewed as isotropic random field on randomly varying sphere.  相似文献

An algorithm is given for everywhere extrapolating a band-limited signal known only on an interval of arbitrary finite length. The scheme utilizes a finite number of equally spaced samples of the given function and provides a time-limited polynomial approximation. The approximation functions are shown to converge everywhere pointwise and uniformly in any compact interval to the band-limited signal. When the original band-limited signal is also Lebesgue integrable it is also established that the Fourier transform of the approximating signal converges uniformly to the Fourier transform of the original signal.  相似文献

Extending band-limited constructions of orthonormal refinable functions, a special class of periodic functions is used to generate a family of band-limited refinable functions. Characterizations of Riesz bases and frames formed by integer shifts of these refinable functions are obtained. In this paper, combining stochastic processes with shift-invariant spaces, we introduce shift-invariant stochastic processes. It is a general case of the classical band-limited stochastic processes and a kind of non-band-limited stochastic processes. Two sampling theorems are obtained for the shift-invariant stochastic processes. An advection-diffusion equation with time and space dependent random coefficients is derived as a model for the plutonium concentration changes in the surface soil around the Rocky Flats Plant northwest of Denver, Colorado. The equation is used to fit a set of temporal-spatial data sampled annually over a 23 year period from 71 sites around the plant. The coefficients of the advection-diffusion equation are derived from the estimated covariance function of the observed random field using a combination of maximum likelihood and quasi-likelihood techniques. Goodness-of-fit of the model to the data is also assessed. Finally we interpret the model in terms of the advection-diffusion mechanism.  相似文献

Using coherent-state techniques, we prove a sampling theorem for Majorana’s (holomorphic) functions on the Riemann sphere and we provide an exact reconstruction formula as a convolution product of N samples and a given reconstruction kernel (a sinc-type function). We also discuss the effect of over- and under-sampling. Sample points are roots of unity, a fact which allows explicit inversion formulas for resolution and overlapping kernel operators through the theory of Circulant Matrices and Rectangular Fourier Matrices. The case of band-limited functions on the Riemann sphere, with spins up to J, is also considered. The connection with the standard Euler angle picture, in terms of spherical harmonics, is established through a discrete Bargmann transform.   相似文献

Summary. We present a new ``second generation" reconstruction algorithm for irregular sampling, i\@.e\@. for the problem of recovering a band-limited function from its non-uniformly sampled values. The efficient new method is a combination of the adaptive weights method which was developed by the two first named authors and the method of conjugate gradients for the solution of positive definite linear systems. The choice of "adaptive weights" can be seen as a simple but very efficient method of preconditioning. Further substantial acceleration is achieved by utilizing the Toeplitz-type structure of the system matrix. This new algorithm can handle problems of much larger dimension and condition number than have been accessible so far. Furthermore, if some gaps between samples are large, then the algorithm can still be used as a very efficient extrapolation method across the gaps. Received December 22, 1993  相似文献

In this paper, we study the problem of constructing non-separable band-limited wavelet tight frames, Riesz wavelets and orthonormal wavelets in $\mathbb {R}^{2}$ and $\mathbb {R}^{3}$ . We first construct a class of non-separable band-limited refinable functions in low-dimensional Euclidean spaces by using univariate Meyer’s refinable functions along multiple directions defined by classical box-spline direction matrices. These non-separable band-limited definable functions are then used to construct non-separable band-limited wavelet tight frames via the unitary and oblique extension principles. However, these refinable functions cannot be used for constructing Riesz wavelets and orthonormal wavelets in low dimensions as they are not stable. Another construction scheme is then developed to construct stable refinable functions in low dimensions by using a special class of direction matrices. The resulting stable refinable functions allow us to construct a class of MRA-based non-separable band-limited Riesz wavelets and particularly band-limited orthonormal wavelets in low dimensions with small frequency support.  相似文献

Summary  Computational methods for spline smoothing are studied in the context of the linear smoothing spline. Comparisons are made between two efficient methods for computing the estimator using band-limited basis functions and the Kalman filter. In particular, the Kalman filter approach is shown to be an efficient method for computing under the Kimeldorf-Wahba representation for the estimator. Run time comparisons are made between band-limited B-spline and Kalman filter based algorithms.  相似文献
