We formulate quantum energy inequalities (QEIs) in the framework of locally covariant quantum field theory developed by Brunetti, Fredenhagen and Verch, which is based on notions taken from category theory. This leads to a new viewpoint on the QEIs, and also to the identification of a new structural property of locally covariant quantum field theory, which we call local physical equivalence. Covariant formulations of the numerical range and spectrum of locally covariant fields are given and investigated, and a new algebra of fields is identified, in which fields are treated independently of their realisation on particular spacetimes and manifestly covariant versions of the functional calculus may be formulated.  相似文献

We describe the quantum sphere of Podles for c = 0 by means of a stereographic projection which is analogous to that which exibits the classical sphere as a complex manifold. We show that the algebra of functions and the differential calculus on the sphere are covariant under the coaction of fractional transformations with SU q(2) coefficients as well as under the action of SU q(2) vector fields. Going to the classical limit we obtain the Poisson sphere. Finally, we study the invariant integration of functions on the sphere and find its relation with the translationally invariant integration on the complex quantum plane.  相似文献

We study covariant differential calculus on the quantum Euclidean spheres S q N−1 which are quantum homogeneous spaces with coactions of the quantum groups O q (N). First order differential calculi on the quantum Euclidean spheres satisfying a dimension constraint are found and classified: ForN≥6, there exist exactly two such calculi one of which is closely related to the classical differential calculus in the commutative case. Higher order differential forms and symmetry are discussed. Presented at the 9th Colloquium “Quantum Groups and Integrable Systems”, Prague, 22–24 June 2000.  相似文献

We construct a new gauge theory on a pair of d-dimensional noncommutative tori. The latter comes from an intimate relationship between the noncommutative geometry associated with a lattice vertex operator algebra ? and the noncommutative torus. We show that the tachyon algebra of ? is naturally isomorphic to a class of twisted modules representing quantum deformations of the algebra of functions on the torus. We construct the corresponding real spectral triples and determine their Morita equivalence classes using string duality arguments. These constructions yield simple proofs of the O(d,d;ℤ) Morita equivalences between d-dimensional noncommutative tori and give a natural physical interpretation of them in terms of the target space duality group of toroidally compactified string theory. We classify the automorphisms of the twisted modules and construct the most general gauge theory which is invariant under the automorphism group. We compute bosonic and fermionic actions associated with these gauge theories and show that they are explicitly duality-symmetric. The duality-invariant gauge theory is manifestly covariant but contains highly non-local interactions. We show that it also admits a new sort of particle-antiparticle duality which enables the construction of instanton field configurations in any dimension. The duality non-symmetric on-shell projection of the field theory is shown to coincide with the standard non-abelian Yang–Mills gauge theory minimally coupled to massive Dirac fermion fields. Using some natural conditions less restrictive than theGL ql/s(m/n) invariance, we present two possible multiparametric differential calculi on the quantum superplane. We show that there exists a new differential calculus which is different from the known one, generalizing the Wess-Zumino formalism to the superspace case. We discuss some*-algebra structures leaving invariant this differential calculus. The (1 + 1)-dimensional case is analyzed and a realization of the super-Virasoro algebra on this particular quantum superspace is given.  相似文献

We establish a noncommutative analogue of the first fundamental theorem of classical invariant theory. For each quantum group associated with a classical Lie algebra, we construct a noncommutative associative algebra whose underlying vector space forms a module for the quantum group and whose algebraic structure is preserved by the quantum group action. The subspace of invariants is shown to form a subalgebra, which is finitely generated. We determine generators of this subalgebra of invariants and determine their commutation relations. In each case considered, the noncommutative modules we construct are flat deformations of their classical commutative analogues. Our results are therefore noncommutative generalisations of the first fundamental theorem of classical invariant theory, which follows from our results by taking the limit as q → 1. Our method similarly leads to a definition of quantum spheres, which is a noncommutative generalisation of the classical case with orthogonal quantum group symmetry.  相似文献

The purpose of the paper is twofold: First, known results of the noncommutative spin geometry of the standard Podle? sphere are extended by discussing Poincaré duality and orientability. In the discussion of orientability, Hochschild homology is replaced by a twisted version which avoids the dimension drop. The twisted Hochschild cycle representing an orientation is related to the volume form of the distinguished covariant differential calculus. Integration over the volume form defines a twisted cyclic 2-cocycle which computes the qq-winding numbers of quantum line bundles.  相似文献

We present a differential calculus on the extension of the quantum plane obtained by considering that the (bosonic) generator x is invertible and by working with polynomials in ln x instead of polynomials in x. We construct the quantum Lie algebra associated with this extension and obtain its Hopf algebra structure and its dual Hopf algebra.  相似文献

We introduce a certain cellular algebra which is a quotient of the q-Schur algebra . This is naturally equipped with a canonical basis which is compatible with Lusztig's canonical bases for certain modules for the quantized enveloping algebra . We describe a diagram calculus for which makes calculations involving the corresponding canonical bases easy to understand. Received: 9 May 1996/Accepted: 11 June 1996  相似文献

We discuss quantum deformations of Lie algebra as described by the noncoassociative modification of its coalgebra structure. We consider for simplicity the quantum D = 1 Galilei algebra with four generators: energy H, boost B, momentum P and central generator M (mass generator). We describe the nonprimitive coproducts for H and B and show that their noncocommutative and noncoassociative structure is determined by the two-body interaction terms. Further we consider the case of physical Galilei symmetry in three dimensions. Finally we discuss the noninteraction theorem for manifestly covariant two-body systems in the framework of quantum deformations of D = 4 Poincaré algebra and a possible way out.  相似文献

A method of constructing covariant differential calculi on a quantum homogeneous space is devised. The function algebra of the quantum homogeneous space is assumed to be a left coideal of a coquasitriangular Hopf algebra and to contain the coefficients of any matrix over which is the two-sided inverse of one with entries in . The method is based on partial derivatives. For the quantum sphere of Podle and the quantizations of symmetric spaces due to Noumi, Dijkhuizen and Sugitani, the construction produces the subcalculi of the standard bicovariant calculus on the quantum group.  相似文献

We show how one can construct a differential calculus over an algebra where position variables x and momentum variables p have be defined. As the simplest example we consider the one-dimensional q-deformed Heisenberg algebra. This algebra has a subalgebra generated by x and its inverse which we call the coordinate algebra. A physical field is considered to be an element of the completion of this algebra. We can construct a derivative which leaves invariant the coordinate algebra and so takes physical fields into physical fields. A generalized Leibniz rule for this algebra can be found. Based on this derivative differential forms and an exterior differential calculus can be constructed. Received: 26 November 1998 / Published online: 27 April 1999  相似文献

We propose Weil and Cartan models for the equivariant cohomology of noncommutative spaces which carry a covariant action of Drinfel’d twisted symmetries. The construction is suggested by the noncommutative Weil algebra of Alekseev and Meinrenken (2000) [5]; we show how to implement a Drinfel’d twist of their models in order to take into account the noncommutativity of the spaces we are acting on. We also provide basic examples and properties of the twisted noncommutative equivariant cohomology.  相似文献

We define a class of topological spaces ( LCNT spaces ) which come together with a nuclear Fréchet algebra. Like the algebra of smooth functions on a manifold, this algebra carries the differential structure of the object. We compute the Hochschild homology of this algebra and show that it is isomorphic to the space of differential forms. This is a generalization of a result obtained by Alain Connes in the framework of smooth manifolds.  相似文献

Any deformation of a Weyl or Clifford algebra can be realized through a change of generators in the undeformed algebra. Here we briefly describe and motivate our systematic procedure for constructing all such changes of generators for those particular deformations where the original algebra is covariant under some Lie group and the deformed algebra is covariant under the corresponding quantum group.  相似文献

We analize the algebraic structure of consistent and covariant anomalies in gauge and gravitational theories: using a complex extension of the Lie algebra it is possible to describe them in a unified way. Then we study their representations by means of functional determinants, showing how the algebraic solution determines the relevant operators for the definition of the effective action. Particular attention is devoted to the Lorentz anomaly: we obtain by functional methods the covariant anomaly for the spin-current and for the energy-momentum tensor in presence of a curved background. With regard to the consistent sector we are able to give a general functional solution only for d = 2: using the characterization derived from the extended algebra, we find a continuous family of operators whose determinant describes the effective action of chiral spinors in curved space. We compute this action and we generalize the result in presence of a U(1) gauge connection.  相似文献

Some unexpected properties of the cubic algebra generated by the covariant derivatives of a generic Yang–Mills connection over the (s+1)-dimensional pseudo Euclidean space are pointed out. This algebra is Koszul of global dimension 3 and Gorenstein but except for s=1 (i.e. in the two-dimensional case) where it is the universal enveloping algebra of the Heisenberg Lie algebra and is a cubic Artin–Schelter regular algebra, it fails to be regular in that it has exponential growth. We give an explicit formula for the Poincaré series of this algebra and for the dimension in degree n of the graded Lie algebra of which is the universal enveloping algebra. In the four-dimensional (i.e. s=3) Euclidean case, a quotient of this algebra is the quadratic algebra generated by the covariant derivatives of a generic (anti) self-dual connection. This latter algebra is Koszul of global dimension 2 but is not Gorenstein and has exponential growth. It is the universal enveloping algebra of the graded Lie algebra which is the semi-direct product of the free Lie algebra with three generators of degree one by a derivation of degree one.  相似文献

In [A. Connes, Quantized calculus and applications, XIth International Congress of Mathematical Physics (Paris,1994), 15–36, Internat Press, Cambridge, MA, 1995], Connes found a conformal invariant using Wodzicki’s 1-density and computed it in the case of 4-dimensional manifold without boundary. In [W. J. Ugalde, Differential forms and the Wodzicki residue, arXiv: Math, DG/0211361], Ugalde generalized the Connes’ result to n-dimensional manifold without boundary. In this paper, we generalize the results of [A. Connes, Quantized calculus and applications, XIth International Congress of Mathematical Physics (Paris,1994), 15–36, Internat Press, Cambridge, MA, 1995] and [W. J. Ugalde, Differential forms and the Wodzicki residue, arXiv: Math, DG/0211361] to the case of manifolds with boundary.  相似文献

The purely algebraic notion of CQG algebra (algebra of functions on a compact quantum group) is defined. In a straightforward algebraic manner, the Peter-Weyl theorem for CQG algebras and the existence of a unique positive definite Haar functional on any CQG algebra are established. It is shown that a CQG algebra can be naturally completed to aC *-algebra. The relations between our approach and several other approaches to compact quantum groups are discussed.  相似文献
