The conventional triangulation technique cannot locate the acoustic source in an anisotropic plate because this technique requires the wave speed to be independent of the propagation direction which is not the case for an anisotropic plate. All methods proposed so far for source localization in anisotropic plates require either the knowledge of the direction dependent velocity profile or a dense array of sensors. In this paper for the first time a technique is proposed to locate the acoustic source in large anisotropic plates with the help of only six sensors without knowing the direction dependent velocity profile in the plate. Experimental results show that the proposed technique works for both isotropic and anisotropic structures. For isotropic plates the required number of sensors can be reduced from 6 to 4.  相似文献

Analytical expressions for the dispersion of the phase velocity and the inverse attenuation length of Rayleigh waves are derived with allowance made for a thin (as compared to the length of the surface wave) isotropic damaged surface layer that is contiguous with vacuum and located on the surface of a hexagonal crystal with the sixfold axis perpendicular to the surface. It is demonstrated that, in the limit of long wavelengths (as compared to the characteristic inhomogeneity size), which is of greatest interest for experimenters, the change in the dispersion of the phase velocity of Rayleigh waves is proportional to the second power of the frequency, whereas the inverse attenuation length of Rayleigh waves is proportional to the fifth power of the frequency. The inverse attenuation length of the Rayleigh wave is calculated numerically. The calculation method previously proposed by one of the authors (Kosachev, 1998) is generalized to the case of an isotropic damaged layer on an anisotropic (hexagonal) substrate.  相似文献

Point-source/point-receiver techniques are one of the most widely used methods for nondestructive evaluation of anisotropic materials. The group velocities resulting from these techniques must be, for further inverse evaluation of elastic coefficients, geometrically converted into corresponding phase velocities. On the other hand, the phase velocities can be determined from a material's response to a line source. But, due to the anisotropy, the short line sources generated by cylindrical lenses are insufficient for reliable determination of the phase velocity. In this paper, a long line source is approximated by a set of linearly arranged point sources. As it follows from the differential geometry of ray surfaces, information obtained from such set of sources is sufficient for determination of phase velocities of both the quasi-transverse and the quasi-longitudinal modes of propagation. Moreover, this approach can be generalized for any arbitrary set of point sources only by employing a proper time-base transformation. The applicability of the presented approaches is illustrated on transversely isotropic and tetragonal fibrous composite materials.  相似文献

地层岩石既非各向同性的,也非完全弹性的,正确地描述波在地层中的传播需要搞清楚岩石的各向异性和黏弹性特征.针对裂缝性地层的裂缝发育方位问题,建立具有任意方位角的方位各向异性黏弹性本构关系.使用均匀平面简谐波分析方法研究其频散关系,得到Christoffel方程,进而获得均匀平面波的复速度、相速度、衰减系数和品质因子的表达式.通过黏弹性方位各向异性页岩和砂岩进行模拟,研究了波场在地层中的传播特征,如相速度、衰减系数和品质因子等随频率、方位和入射角的变化关系 关键词: 黏弹性 各向异性 相速度 衰减系数 品质因子  相似文献

Nonlinear Kalman Filtering is an established field in applied probability and control systems, which plays an important role in many practical applications from target tracking to weather and climate prediction. However, its application for acoustic emission (AE) source localization has been very limited. In this paper, two well-known nonlinear Kalman Filtering algorithms are presented to estimate the location of AE sources in anisotropic panels: the Extended Kalman Filter (EKF) and Unscented Kalman Filter (UKF). These algorithms are applied to two cases: velocity profile known (CASE I) and velocity profile unknown (CASE II). The algorithms are compared with a more traditional nonlinear least squares method. Experimental tests are carried out on a carbon-fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) composite panel instrumented with a sparse array of piezoelectric transducers to validate the proposed approaches. AE sources are simulated using an instrumented miniature impulse hammer. In order to evaluate the performance of the algorithms, two metrics are used: (1) accuracy of the AE source localization and (2) computational cost. Furthermore, it is shown that both EKF and UKF can provide a confidence interval of the estimated AE source location and can account for uncertainty in time of flight measurements.  相似文献

以各向异性介质弹性矩阵为理论基础,结合TTI介质群、相速度相关公式,设计含有倾斜对称轴的横向各向同性煤层模型,通过模型试算,得到以下结论:随着各向异性参数ε、δ、γ变化,TTI型煤层相速度变化较为平缓,群速度变化较为剧烈,因此群速度决定着各向异性介质波场形状;在一定范围内,qP波的群、相速度随ε呈正相关变化;qSV波的群、相速度随δ呈负相关变化;qSH波的群、相速度只与各向异性参数γ有关,随γ呈正相关变化.  相似文献

Exact expressions for the source function, flux, and scattered intensity normal to the surface are developed in cylindrical coordinates for a three-dimensional, absorbing, emitting, isotropically scattering medium exposed to both diffuse and collimated radiation. Simplifications of these expressions for certain important geometries and uniform loading are presented. Also, superposition of these equations and radiative equilibrium are discussed. The generalized three-dimensional equations are shown to reduce to the familiar one-dimensional results. Graphical and tabular results are presented for the back-scattered intensity from a finite two-dimensional cylindrical medium exposed to a Gaussian beam of radiation. Also, results for the source function and flux at the boundaries are presented. The influence of optical thickness and albedo are most pronounced at large optical radii. The semi-infinite results can be used to approximate the finite case for small optical radii. Ranges for single, double, and multiple scattering are discussed. For locations far from the incident beam, the results can be expressed in terms of universal functions independent of beam size. A method is presented for extending the isotropic results to the anisotropic case where the phase function is made up of a spike superimposed on an otherwise isotropic phase function.  相似文献

In this work, a theory of thermoelasticity with diffusion is taken into consideration by using the methodology of fractional calculus. The governing equations for particle motion in a homogeneous anisotropic fractional order generalized thermoelastic diffusive medium are presented. Uniqueness and reciprocity theorems are proved. The plane wave propagation in the homogeneous transversely isotropic thermoelastic diffusive medium with fractional order derivative is studied. For the two-dimensional problem, there exist a quasi-longitudinal wave, a quasi-transverse wave, a quasi-mass diffusion wave, and a quasi-thermal wave. From the obtained results, the different characteristics of waves, like phase velocity, attenuation coefficient, specific loss, and penetration depth, are computed numerically and presented graphically. We consider disorder-order phase transitions in the three-dimensional version of the scalar noise model (SNM) of flocking. Our results are analogous to those found for the two-dimensional case [CITE]. For small velocity (v≤0.1) a continuous, second-order phase transition is observable, with the diffusion of nearby particles being isotropic. By increasing the particle velocities the phase transition changes to first order, and the diffusion becomes anisotropic. The first-order transition in the latter case is probably caused by the interplay between anisotropic diffusion and periodic boundary conditions, leading to a boundary condition dependent symmetry breaking of the solutions.  相似文献

The integral equation for radiative transfer in a two-dimensional rectangular scattering medium exposed to diffuse radiation is solved numerically by removing the singularity. This method yielded accurate results except at very large optical thicknesses. Graphical and tabular results for the source function, flux, and intensity are presented. The source function is also calculated using the first term of a Taylor series expansion. The Taylor series is fairly accurate for small optical thicknesses and columnar geometries. A method is presented for extending these results to the problem of a strongly anisotropic scattering phase function which is made up of a spike in the forward direction superimposed on an isotropic phase function.  相似文献

A finite element formulation of the equations governing the laminated anisotropic plate theory of Yang, Norris and Stavsky, is presented. The theory is a generalization of Mindlin's theory for isotropic plates to laminated anisotropic plates and includes shear deformation and rotary inertia effects. Finite element solutions are presented for rectangular plates of antisymmetric angle-ply laminates whose material properties are typical of a highly anisotropic composite material. Two sets of material properties that are typical of high modulus fiber-reinforced composites are used to show the parametric effects of plate aspect ratio, length-to-thickness ratio, number of layers and lamination angle. The numerical results are compared with the closed form results of Bert and Chen. As a special case, numerical results are presented for thick isotropic plates, and are compared with those for 3-D linear elasticity theory and Mindlin's thick plate theory.  相似文献

It is shown in this paper that the conventional triangulation technique is not very reliable for locating the impact point even in isotropic plates when the sensors are placed close to the point of strike for two reasons: First, it is difficult to pinpoint the exact time of arrival of the signal and, second, the Lamb modes in a plate are dispersive. Dispersive signals attenuate differently at various frequencies and propagate with different speeds causing distortions in the received signals, and thus introduce error in the time of flight measurement. The triangulation technique assumes that wave speeds in all directions are the same, which is not true for anisotropic plates. Here an alternative approach based on an optimization scheme is proposed to locate the point of impact in isotropic and anisotropic plates. A formulation is presented for the general anisotropic case. Experiments are carried out with an aluminum plate by dropping balls on the plate and picking up acoustic signals at different locations. The impact points predicted by the conventional triangulation technique and the proposed modified method are compared for this isotropic plate. Then it is investigated how the prediction would change if the plate is assumed to have some anisotropy.  相似文献

Taking into account the effects of thermal diffusion and optical penetration, as well as the finite width and duration of the laser source, the laser-generated ultrasonic force source at surface vicinity is presented. The full acoustic fields of laser-generated ultrasonic bulk wave are obtained and displayed in transversely isotropic plate. The features of laser-generated ultrasound bulk waves are analyzed. The features of laser-generated ultrasonic bulk wave are in good agreement with the theoretical results (the phase velocity surfaces), demonstrating the validity of this simulation. The numerical results indicate that the features of laser-generated ultrasound waveforms in anisotropic specimen, different from the case in isotropic materials, have a close relation with the propagating plane and propagation direction. This method can provide insight to the generation and propagation of laser-generated ultrasonic bulk wave in transversely isotropic material.  相似文献

A quantitative theory for modeling the laser-generated transient ultrasonic Lamb waves, which propagates along arbitrary directions in orthotropic plates, is presented by employing an expansion method of generalized Lamb wave modes. The displacement field is expressed by a summation of the symmetric and antisymmetric modes in the surface stress-free orthotropic plate, and therefore the theory is particularly appropriate for waveform analyses of Lamb waves in thin plates because one needs only to evaluate several lower modes. The transient waveforms excited by the thermoelastic expansion and the oil-coating evaporation are analyzed for a transversely isotropic thin plate. The results show that the theory provides a quantitative analysis to characterize anisotropic elastic stiffness properties of orthotropic plates by laser-generated Lamb wave detection.  相似文献

Beginning with the integral equation for the source function, the solutions for the source function, flux and intensity at the boundary of a two-dimensional, isotropically scattering cylindrical medium are found. The incident radiation is collimated and normal to the surface of the medium and depends only on the radial coordinate. For a Bessel function boundary condition, separation of variables is used to reduce the source function integral equation to a one-dimensional equation. The resulting integral equation is shown to be the same as that for the two-dimensional planar case. Solutions for other boundary conditions are then shown to be superpositions of the Bessel function solution. Numerical results are presented for a Gaussian distribution of incident radiation which closely models a laser beam. These multiple scattering results are compared to the single scattering approximation. Also, the solution for a strongly anisotropic phase function which is made up of a spike in the forward direction superimposed on an otherwise isotropic phase function is expressed in terms of the isotropic results.  相似文献

Based on linear three-dimensional elasticity theory, the wave equations of coupled Lamb waves in multilayered arbitrary anisotropic composite laminates are derived using a Legendre orthogonal polynomial approach. The elastodynamic solution for the propagation of coupled Lamb waves in composite plates is also presented to determine the characteristics of coupled Lamb waves. To verify the applicability and validity of the method, two cases of bi-layered plates formed with isotropic components and anisotropic components, respectively, are primarily manipulated for comparison with earlier known results. Next, the dispersion curves, displacements and stress distributions of Lamb waves in multilayered anisotropic laminates are calculated. The effects of coupling and fiber orientation on the characteristics of the Lamb waves are illustrated. The potential usefulness of the fundamental modes of the coupled Lamb waves is discussed in detail.  相似文献

In acoustic emission (AE) measurement, the information of the arrival time is very important for event location, event identification and source mechanism analysis. Manual picks are time-consuming and sometimes subjective, especially in the case of large volumes of digital data. Various techniques have been presented in the literature and are routinely used in practice such as amplitude threshold, analysis of the long-term average/short-term average (LTA/STA), high-order statistics or artificial neural networks.A new automatic determination technique of the first arrival times of AE signals is presented for thin metal plates. Based on Akaike’s information criterion, proposed algorithm of the first arrival detection uses a specific characteristic function, which is sensitive to change of frequency in contrast to others such as envelope of the signal. The approach is applied to data sets of three different tests. Reliable results show the potential of our approach.  相似文献

In this article different techniques for localizing acoustic sources are described and the advantages/disadvantages of these techniques are discussed. Some source localization techniques are restricted to isotropic structures while other methods can be applied to anisotropic structures as well. Some techniques require precise knowledge of the direction dependent velocity profiles in the anisotropic body while other techniques do not require that knowledge. Some methods require accurate values of the time of arrival of the acoustic waves at the receivers while other techniques can function without that information. Published papers introducing various techniques emphasize the advantages of the introduced techniques while ignoring and often not mentioning the limitations and weaknesses of the new techniques. What is lacking in the literature is a comprehensive review and comparison of the available techniques; this article attempts to do that. After reviewing various techniques the paper concludes which source localization technique should be most effective for what type of structure and what the current research needs are.  相似文献
