We have grown organic nonlinear optical 4-methoxy benzaldehyde-N-methyl-4-stilbazolium tosylate (MBST) crystals by slow evaporation technique. The grown crystals were analyzed by powder XRD, FTIR, NMR, UV, Thermal, mechanical and dielectric measurements. Lattice parameters and crystallinity of the crystal is confirmed by the XRD studies. The FTIR and NMR studies give the details about the various functional groups present. In order to study the optical quality of the crystal, the UV-vis absorption spectrum was recorded and cut-off wavelength was determined. Melting point of the crystal is found from the differential scanning calorimetry. The powder SHG studies were done with the Kurtz powder technique and the NLO efficiency is 17.2 times greater than that of urea. The surface of the grown crystal was analyzed with etching. Laser damage threshold studies have been carried out for the crystal using a Q-switched Nd:YAG laser of 10 ns pulses.  相似文献

Single crystals of organic material guanidinium phenyl arsonate (GPA) of size 28 × 14 × 10 mm3 were grown from propanol–water mixed solvent by slow solvent evaporation technique. The crystal belongs to monoclinic system with noncentrosymmetric space group Cc. The lattice parameter values of GPA crystals are a = 18.453 Å, b = 7.609 Å, c = 12.592 Å and β = 121.856°. The grown crystal was subjected to X-ray diffraction (XRD) study to identify its morphology and structure. Chemical etching study using propanol–water as etchant reveals the mechanism of growth. The formation of synthesized compound was confirmed by Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy analysis. Optical transmittance and second harmonic generation (SHG) of the grown crystals were studied by UV–vis–NIR spectrum and Kurtz powder technique respectively. The transmittance of GPA has been used to calculate the refractive index ‘n’ and the extinction coefficient ‘k’. The laser induced surface damage threshold for the grown crystal was determined using Nd:YAG laser. The mechanical behavior of GPA was analyzed using Vickers microhardness test.  相似文献

Single crystals of glycine nitrate [(C2H6NO2)+ · (NO3)] were grown using submerged seed solution method. The crystals were characterized by using single crystal X-ray diffraction and density measurements. Spectroscopic, thermal and optical studies were carried out for analyzing the presence of the functional groups, thermal stability, decomposition and transparency of the sample. These studies showed that the crystals are thermally stable upto 145 °C and transparent for the fundamental and second harmonic generation of Nd:YAG (λ = 1064 nm) laser. Second harmonic generation (SHG) conversion efficiency was investigated to explore the NLO characteristics of this material. Microhardness and dielectric studies were also carried out.  相似文献

Single crystals of guanidinium 4-nitrobenzoate (GuNB) were grown using solvent evaporation technique by mixing aqueous solutions of guanidine carbonate and 4-nitrobenzoic acid at ambient temperature. X-ray diffraction analysis characterized the unit cell parameters of the grown crystal and the crystal belongs to monoclinic system. The optical properties of the grown crystal have been studied by means of transmission measurements in the wavelength region between 200 and 1200 nm. The optical constants such as refractive index (n) and extinction coefficient (k) have been determined from the transmittance data. The optical band gap (Eg), the real and imaginary parts of the dielectric constant of the grown crystal was determined. Second harmonic generation (SHG) efficiency of the grown crystal has been studied using Nd:YAG laser and was measured as 3.2 times that of KDP. The low dielectric constant suggests the suitability of this compound material for NLO applications.  相似文献

Transparent crystals of α-glycine with barium nitrate and calcium nitrate (GBC) have been grown from aqueous solution by slow evaporation technique at room temperature. Crystals of size 22 × 25 × 4 mm3 have been obtained in 3-4 weeks time. The solubility of GBC has been determined in water. The grown crystal belongs to orthorhombic system with cell parameters a = 12.7321 A.U, b = 13.7752 A.U and c = 8.6002 A.U with unit cell volume of 1508.36 (A.U)3. Comparative IR and Raman studies indicate a molecule with a lack of center of symmetry. A wide transparency window useful for optoelectronic applications is indicated by the UV Studies. Using Nd:YAG laser (1064 nm), the optical second harmonic generation (SHG) conversion efficiency of GBC is found to be 0.702 times than that of standard KDP. On exposure to light the GBC crystals exhibit positive photoconductivity. I-V characteristics, dielectrics studies, electrical and Vickers micro hardness measurement have been carried out. The GBC crystal exhibits more mechanical strength compared to the reported GSN crystals.  相似文献

Amino acid based crystals exhibit excellent nonlinear and electro-optical properties. A new nonlinear optical single crystal l-phenylalaninium trichloroacetate (LPTCA) belonging to the amino acid group was grown by the slow evaporation solution growth method. The grown crystals have been subjected to powder X-ray diffraction studies to identify the crystalline nature. Single crystal X-ray diffraction study showed that LPTCA belongs to monoclinic crystal system. Fourier transform infrared study is used to confirm the presence of various functional groups in the grown crystal. Optical transparency of the grown crystals was investigated by UV-vis-NIR spectrum. The lower optical cutoff wavelength for this crystal is observed at 254 nm and energy band gap is 4.89 eV. Thermal properties of the LPTCA crystal were studied by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and differential thermal analysis (DTA) techniques, which indicate that the material does not decompose before melting. The melting point of grown crystal was observed to be 136 °C in a melting point apparatus. The existence of nonlinear optical (NLO) property of LPTCA was confirmed by second harmonic generation test using Nd:YAG laser fundamental wavelength of 1064 nm.  相似文献

A sum-frequency yellow-green laser at 554.9 nm is reported by this paper, 946 nm wavelength is obtained from 4F3/2-4I9/2 transition in Nd:YAG and 1342 nm wavelength is obtained from 4F3/2-4I13/2 transition in Nd:YVO4. Using a doubly folded-cavity type-II critical phase matching KTP crystal intra cavity to make 946 nm laser from Nd:YAG and 1342 nm laser from Nd:YVO4 frequency summed, with incident pumped power of 30 W in Nd:YAG and 20 W in Nd:YVO4, TEM00 mode yellow-green laser at 554.9 nm at 1.15 W is obtained and its M2 factor is less than 1.22. The experimental results show that the Nd:YAG and Nd:YVO4 crystals intra-cavity sum-frequency mixing is an effective method for yellow-green laser and it can be applied to other two laser crystals to obtain more all-solid-state lasers with different wavelengths.  相似文献

A promising non-linear optical (NLO) crystal, aqua maleatocopper(II) (CuC4H2O4·H2O), was grown at room temperature by the controlled ionic diffusion technique. Fourier transform infrared spectrum could identify the various functional groups in the crystal. Structural analysis using single crystal XRD revealed that the compound crystallizes in the monoclinic system with space group P21 and unit cell parameters a = 7.7277(5) Å, b = 5.2967(3) Å, c = 7.7179(4) Å, α = γ = 109.170(5)°, β = 111.995(2)°. The thermal stability and decomposition pattern of the material were explored using thermogravimetry (TG) and differential thermal analysis (DTA). The optical band gap energy of the material was estimated as 2.2 eV from the diffuse reflectance spectroscopy. The Kurtz and Perry powder technique established the crystal to be an efficient non-linear optical (NLO) material.  相似文献

The bulk single crystal of l-arginine 4-nitrophenolate 4-nitrophenol dihydrate (LAPP), an efficient organic NLO material of size 74 mm in length, 18 mm in diameter, was grown successfully by Sankaranarayanan–Ramasamy (SR) method. Single crystal X-ray diffraction study reveals that LAPP crystallizes into monoclinic system with the space group P21. The unidirectional growth along the plane (1 1 0) was confirmed from the powder XRD pattern with the sharp peak having maximum intensity. Optical absorption spectrum shows that LAPP has highly transparent in the entire visible and IR region with a wide band gap of 3.9 eV for large photon absorption. Vickers micro hardness measurement was performed to know the mechanical strength of the crystal. Dielectric profile of LAPP at room temperature brings forth low value of dielectric loss and dielectric constant at higher frequencies. Photoluminescence study reveals that LAPP exhibit green emission in the wavelength region 538 nm. The SHG efficiency of the crystal is measured by Kurtz's powder test using Nd:YAG Laser.  相似文献
