The following result is due to H. Steinhaus [20]: “If A,B?R are sets of positive inner Lebesgue measure and if the function f: R x R→R is defined by f(x,y):=x+y (x,y?R), then the interior of f(A x B) is non void”. In this note there is proved, that the theorem of H. Steinhaus remains valid, if
  1. R is replaced by certain topological measure spaces X, Y and a Hausdorff space Z,
  2. f is a continuous function from an open set T?X x Y into Z and satisfies a special local (respectively global) solvability condition in T,
  3. A?X is a set of positive outer measure, B?Y contains a set of positive measure and A x B?T.

Abstract

A standard extension (resp. standard completion) is a function Z assigning to each poset P a (closure) system ZP of subsets such that x ? y iff x belongs to every Z ε ZP with y ε Z. A poset P is Z -complete if each Z ε 2P has a join in P. A map f: P → P′ is Z—continuous if f?1 [Z′] ε ZP for all Z′ ε ZP′, and a Z—morphism if, in addition, for all Z ε ZP there is a least Z′ ε ZP′ with f[Z] ? Z′. The standard extension Z is compositive if every map f: P → P′ with {x ε P: f(x) ? y′} ε ZP for all y′ ε P′ is Z -continuous. We show that any compositive standard extension Z is the object part of a reflector from IPZ, the category of posets and Z -morphisms, to IRZ, the category of Z -complete posets and residuated maps. In case of a standard completion Z, every Z -continuous map is a Z -morphism, and IR2 is simply the category of complete lattices and join—preserving maps. Defining in a suitable way so-called Z -embeddings and morphisms between them, we obtain for arbitrary standard extensions Z an adjunction between IPZ and the category of Z -embeddings. Many related adjunctions, equivalences and dualities are studied and compared with each other. Suitable specializations of the function 2 provide a broad spectrum of old and new applications.  相似文献

X : |f(x)| ? (0, a)} \{ x \in X : |f(x)| \in (0, a)\} contains a subset of second category and with the Baire property, then f is continuous or { x ? X : |f(x)| ? (0, a)} \{ x \in X : |f(x)| \in (0, a)\} for every x ? X x \in X . As a consequence of this we obtain the following fact: Every Baire measurable solution f : X ? \Bbb K f : X \to {\Bbb K} of the equation is continuous or equal zero almost everywhere (i.e., there is a first category set A ì X A \subset X with f(X \A) = { 0 }) f(X \backslash A) = \{ 0 \}) .  相似文献

Let (X, d) be a compact metric space, let T: X→X be a homeomorphism satisfying a certain suitable hyperbolicity assumption, and let μ be a Gibbs measure on X relative to T. Let λ be a complex number |λ|=1, and let f:X → ? be a Hölder continuous function. 在林寿与我最近合作的一篇文章中指出了∑*-空间的构成定理需重新考虑.本文就是要证明在空间X的每个点是Gδ-集的条件下该构成定理是成立的,所得的结论是:X是T1且每个点是Gδ-集的∑*-空间,如果f:X→Y是闭的满连续映射,则在Y中有一σ-闭离散子空间Z,使得对每个y∈Y\Z,f-1(y)是X的w1-紧子空间.为得到该主要结果,本文证明了若空间X是每个点是Gδ-集的次亚紧空间.则X中的每个闭离散子集是X中的Gδ-集.  相似文献

Abstract

The framework in which nearness spaces were defined by H. Herrlich [1] and [2], leads one to consider the supercategory Pow of the category Near of nearness spaces, having as objects all pairs (X,ξ), where X is a set and ξ ? P(P(X)) is any subset of the power set of the power set of X, and as morphisms f: (X,ξ) → (Y,n) all functions f: X → Y such that, if A ? ξ then fA □ {f(A) | A ξ A} ? η. In this paper we show that the full subcategories of Pow comprising the objects satisfying subsets of the prenearness space axioms lie in a lattice of bireflections or bicoreflections. This serves as a first step towards the aim of characterizing all bireflective (resp. bicoreflective) and even all initially complete subcategories of Pow.  相似文献

A topological space X is strongly web‐compact if X admits a family {Aα: α ∈ ??} of relatively countably compact sets covering X and such that Aα ? Aβ for αβ. The main result of this paper states the following: Theorem A Let X and Y be topological groups and f a homomorphism between X and Y with closed graph. If X is Fréchet‐Urysohn and Baire and Y is strongly web‐compact, then f is continuous. This extends a result of Valdivia. We provide an example showing that the property of being strongly web‐compact is not productive. We introduce and study adhesive spaces. Using this concept we obtain a characterization of stable Baire maps \({f : X\to Y}\) of the class \({\alpha}\) for wide classes of topological spaces. In particular, we prove that for a topological space X and a contractible space Y a map \({f : X \to Y}\) belongs to the nth stable Baire class if and only if there exist a sequence \({(f_k)_{k=1}^\infty}\) of continuous maps \({f_k : {X \to Y}}\) and a sequence \({(F_k)_{k=1}^\infty}\) of functionally ambiguous sets of the nth class in X such that \({f|_{F_k}=f_k|_{F_k}}\) for every k. Moreover, we show that every monotone function \({f : \mathbb{R} \to \mathbb{R}}\) is of the \({\alpha}\) th stable Baire class if and only if it belongs to the first stable Baire class.  相似文献

Suppose that X, Y are two real Banach Spaces. We know that for a standard ε-isometry f : X → Y, the weak stability formula holds and by applying the formula we can induce a closed subspace N of *. In this paper, by using again the weak stability formula, we further show a sufficient and necessary condition for a standard ε-isometry to be stable in assuming that N is w*-closed in Y*.Making use of this result, we improve several known results including Figiel's theorem in reflexive spaces.We also prove that if, in addition, the space Y is quasi-reflexive and hereditarily indecomposable, then L(f)≡span[f(X)] contains a complemented linear isometric copy of X; Moreover, if X =Y, then for every e-isometry f: X → X, there exists a surjective linear isometry S:X → X such that f-S is uniformly bounded by 2ε on X.  相似文献

Let G be an amenable metric semigroup with nonempty center, let E be a reflexive Banach space, and let ?: G → E be a given function. By C?: G × G → E we understand the Cauchy difference of the function /, i.e.: $$ {\cal C}f(x,y):=f(x+y)- f(x)- f(y)\ {\rm for}\ x,y\in G. $$ We prove that if the function C(f) is Lipschitz then there exists an additive function A: G → E such that f ? A is Lipschitz with the same constant. Analogous result for Jensen equation is also proved. As a corollary we obtain the stability of the Cauchy and Jensen equations in the Lipschitz norms.  相似文献

We prove that a locally compact ANR-space X is a Q-manifold if and only if it has the Disjoint Disk Property (DDP), all points of X are homological Z∞-points and X has the countable-dimensional approximation property (cd-AP), which means that each map f:K→X of a compact polyhedron can be approximated by a map with the countable-dimensional image. As an application we prove that a space X with DDP and cd-AP is a Q-manifold if some finite power of X is a Q-manifold. If some finite power of a space X with cd-AP is a Q-manifold, then X2 and X×[0,1] are Q-manifolds as well. We construct a countable familyχof spaces with DDP and cd-AP such that no space X∈χis homeomorphic to the Hilbert cube Q whereas the product X×Y of any different spaces X, Y∈χis homeomorphic to Q. We also show that no uncountable familyχwith such properties exists.  相似文献

In this article the following class of partial differential operators is examined for local solvability: Let P(X, Y) be a homogeneous polynomial of degree n ≥ 2 in the non-commuting variables X and Y. Suppose that the complex polynomial P(iz, 1) has distinct roots and that P(z, 0) = zn. The operators which we investigate are of the form P(X, Y) where X = δx and Y = δy + xδw for variables (x, y, w) ∈ ?3. We find that the operators P (X, Y) are locally solvable if and only if the kernels of the ordinary differential operators P(iδx, ± x)* contain no Schwartz-class functions other than the zero function. The proof of this theorem involves the construction of a parametrix along with invariance properties of Heisenberg group operators and the application of Sobolev-space inequalities by Hörmander as necessary conditions for local solvability.  相似文献
