Neutron scattering measurements have been made of phonons in a Fe65Ni35 crystal at several temperatures. Marked softening of the [110] acoustic shear modes and a dip in the dispersion relation are found at low temperatures. Above the magnetic ordering temperature Tc, the frequency shift is removed completely, which suggests phonon perturbation by magnetoelastic coupling.  相似文献

Brillouin scattering experiments are carried out to study the surface acoustic waves in Nd0.5Sr0.5MnO3 as a function of temperature in the range of 40-300 K covering the metal-insulator and charge-ordering phase transitions. The surface modes include surface Rayleigh wave, pseudo-surface acoustic wave (PSAW) and high velocity PSAW. The observed softening of the sound velocities for the surface modes below paramagnetic to ferromagnetic transition, Tc is related to the softening of the C44 elastic constant. The subsequent hardening of the sound velocity below the charge ordering transition temperature Tco is attributed to the coupling of the acoustic phonon to the charge ordered state via long range ordering of the strong Jahn-Teller (JT) distortion.  相似文献

We have studied the superconducting properties of MgB2 from first-principles under isotropic, uniaxial, and biaxial compressions. We find that the in-plane boron phonons near the zone-center are very anharmonic and strongly coupled to the planar B σ bands near the Fermi level. This mode is found to be the key to quantitatively explain the observed high Tc, the total isotope effect and the pressure dependence of Tc. We propose that a stringent test on the hole and phonon based theories of the superconductivity in MgB2 would be a measurement of the biaxial ab-compression dependence of Tc.  相似文献

The temperature and pressure derivatives of the elastic constants of orthorhombic betaine borate, (CH3)3NCH2COO·H3BO3, have been determined by measuring temperature and stress induced shifts of resonance frequencies of thick plates at ca. 15 MHz in the range between 140 and 300 K and 0 and 3 kbar. The elastic ‘shear’ resistance c44 exhibits a value as low as 0.0492×1010Nm-2at 293 K. With decreasing temperature c44 approaches zero at ca. 142.5 K, indicating an acoustic soft mode behaviour connected with a ferroelastic phase transition. The softening of c44 is described in a good approximation by c44(T)p=0 =alogT/T0 with a=0.0663×1010Nm-2 and T0 = 139.5 K. Further, c44 decreases with increasing pressure according to the linear relation c44(p)T=293 K = 0.0492?0.184×10-4p (p in bar, c44 in 1010 Nm-2). All other elastic constants show a quite normal temperature and pressure dependence. At 293 K the transition is induced by a pressure of 2.65 kbar. The transition temperature Tc depends linearly on pressure according to Tc = 142.5+0.0568 p (pinbar, TcinK). Passing through the transition no discontinuous change of the lattice constants is observed. The three principal coefficients of thermal expansion and the pressure derivatives of the dielectric constants exhibit discontinuities at the transition. The transition is of strongly second order.  相似文献

Polarized Raman spectra were obtained in the quasi-one-dimensional conductor (TaSe4)2I above and below the charge-density-wave (CDW) transition temperature (Tc=263 K). The Raman intensities of many peaks become intenser and two of the phonon peaks shift to higher frequency with decreasing temperature. Moreover a new broad peak at about 90 cm?1 and a new peak around 166 cm?1 appear in the low-temperature phase. The polarization characteristic shows that the former is assigned to totally symmetric mode. The damping constant of the phonon at 90 cm?1 increases markedly with increasing temperature. The frequency shifts to higher frequency as the temperature increases and the coupling coefficient is approximately proportional to (Tc?T)12. This peak becomes Raman active owing to the CDW phase transition. The temperature dependence of the damping constant and the frequency shift may have a relation to the dynamical properties of the CDW phase transition.  相似文献

The attenuation of longitudinal and shear sound waves is measured through the Néel temperature, TN≈286 K, and the lower transition temperature, TK≈265 K, of FeGe2. Longitudinal sound with wavevector q along the [100] axis of this tetragonal antiferromagnetic metal shows an attenuation peak at TN, which is reversibly suppressed by compressive uniaxial stress σ along [010]. The estimated pressure dependence of TN is dTN/dp=(?2.8±0.3) mK bar?1. The peak at TN shows thermal and stress hysteresis, which suggests that it is associated with domain wall motion and that this transition is first order.  相似文献

The dielectric properties of the [4-NH2C5H4NH] SbCl4 (abbreviated as 4-APCA) crystal were investigated under hydrostatic pressure up to 300 Mpa. The pressure-temperature phase diagram was given. The paraelectric-ferroelectric phase transition (II→III) temperature (Tc) increases linearly with increasing pressure with a slope dTc/dp=21×10−2 K/MPa. The pressure dependence of Curie-Weiss constants has been evaluated also. In the paraelectric phase (II) the Curie constant (C+) was pressure dependent whereas the C constant over the ferroelectric phase (III) was almost constant. The results are interpreted in terms of improper and displacive type phase transition model with a soft phonon at a zone boundary.  相似文献

Raman scattering on single crystals of Eu3S4 does not show the allowed q=o phonon modes in the cubic phase and exhibits no new modes in the distorted low temperature phase (T<186 K). Above the Curie temperature Tc=3.8 K the scattering is dominated by a spin-disorder induced one-phonon density of states allowing for the observation of the zone boundary phonon breathing mode of the S2?ions. This mode does not show any anomaly near the charge order -disorder phase transition Tt=186 K. Temperature tunable spin fluctuations associated with the temperature activated Eu2+→Eu3+ electron hopping are detected in the scattering intensity, superimposed on the usual thermal spin disorder.  相似文献

We have investigated the pressure-induced structural phase transition in ReO3 by neutron diffraction on a single crystal. We collected neutron diffraction intensities from the ambient and high pressure phases at P=7 kbar and refined the crystal structures. We have determined the stability of the high pressure phase as a function temperature down to T=2 K and have constructed the (P-T) phase diagram. The critical pressure is Pc=5.2 kbar at T=300 K and decreases almost linearly with decreasing temperature to become Pc=2.5 kbar at T=50 K. The phase transition is driven by the softening of the M3 phonon mode. The high pressure phase is formed by the rigid rotation of almost undistorted ReO6 octahedra and the Re-O-Re angle deviates from 180°. We do not see any evidence for the existence of the tetragonal (P4/mbm) intermediate pressure phase reported earlier.  相似文献

BiVO4 has a pure ferroelastic transition at Tc = 528°K and atmospheric pressure. We elucidated the mechanism of this transition by studying the q≈0 soft optical phonon, with the symmetry of the ferroelastic strain, under large hydrostatic prèssures at room temperature. A free-energy analysis, including the optical-acoustical phonon couplings, shows that the transition is driven by the q≈0 soft optical phonon.  相似文献

The resistance R, the superconducting transition temperature Tc and the energy gap Δ(T) have been measured on the BaPb0.7Bi0.3O3 films up to 14 kbar. We have found that up to 14 kbar: (1) pressure suppresses Tc and Δ(T) while enhances R, (2) the value of 2Δ(0)/kTc is 3.8±0.1, independent of pressure, and (3) the Δ(T)/Δ(0) varies with T/Tc in a BCS fashion but only for T/Tc<0.75 and independent of pressure. The results show that BaPb1?xBixO3 is a weak-coupling superconductor, but fail to provide information about the cause for the high Tc of the compound.  相似文献

We consider the spin-phonon (s-p) coupling as an important correction to the double exchange and the dynamic Jahn-Teller effect in colossal magnetoresistance systems R1−xAxMnO3. The effect of s-p on transport, magnetic properties and the oxygen isotope effect has been studied by utilizing the perturbation theory and mean field theory. It is indicated that (i) a formula for the shift of the ferromagnetic (FM) transition temperature Tc is given, from which it could be seen that the s-p coupling could yield an excitation gap for long-wavelength acoustic spin waves and an applied field could improve Tc, (ii) the relation Tcm−1/2 (m is the mass of the anion) is obtained, which suggests that the oxygen isotope effect is dominated by both the s-p and e-p interaction, (iii) it could cause the hardening of phonon frequency in the FM state, (iv) s-p could lead to the increase of the resistivity which is proportional to T3 at low temperature and proportional to T at high temperature in the ferromagnetic metallic region of R1−xAxMnO3.  相似文献

From X-ray and neutron diffraction work with single crystals and powders we found two phase transitions at Tc1 = 260.5 ± 1 K and at Tc2 = 255 ± 1 K. The transition at Tc1 is characterised by the occurence of superstructure reflections breaking the f.c.c. translational symmetry, whereas the second one at Tc2 is indicated by a monoclinic lattice distortion without any further loss of translational symmetry. Both transitions can be explained by the softening of optical branches at the X- and the Γ-point of the Brillouin zone, corresponding to librations of the SnCl6-octahedra. Evidence for this low energy phonon branch is offered from the observation of diffuse streaks with X-rats and from their inelastic nature as revealed by the neutron triple axes technique.  相似文献

本文用中子飞行时间方法对C-15相的超导材料V2Hf,V2Ta和V2Hf0.8Ta0.2以及V2Zr0.5。Hf0.5和V2Zr0.5Hf0.33Ta0.17的热中子非弹性散射谱作了测量,并计算出相对的广义声子态密度。结果与早先发表的Nb对C-15相V2Zr和V2(Hf0.5Zr0.5)系列声子性能的影响一致:声子频率随超导转变温度Tc增加而软化,随Tc减小而硬化。这表明,对于此类材料弹性软化在一定程度上对提高Tc起了作用。结果还进一步表明V2Zr或V2Hf与V2(Zr0.5Hf0.5)之间有着质的差别,V2Hf加Ta后,Tc增加,声子频率软化,而V2(Zr0.5Hf0.5)加Ta后,Tc减小,声子频率则略有硬化。这与V2Zr和V2(Hf0.5Zr0.5)加Nb的结果是一致的。此结果可以用角动量分波表象的能带论方法分析电-声耦合相互作用得出的杂化理论来定性解释。 关键词:  相似文献

Measurements of non-local in-plane resistance originating from transverse vortex-vortex correlations have been performed on a Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+δ high-Tc superconductor in a magnetic field up to 9 T applied along the crystal c-axis. Our results demonstrate that a rigid vortex lattice does exist over a broad portion of the magnetic field-temperature (H-T) phase diagram, well above the first-order transition (FOT) boundary HFOT(T). The results also provide evidence for the vortex lattice melting and vortex liquid decoupling phase transitions, occurring above the HFOT(T).  相似文献

Resonant interference between the E2 (17 cm?1) optical mode and the continuum of one-phonon partial density of states has been observed in β-AgI, and has been shown to follow Fano formalism. The temperature dependence of the coupling parameter q shows a substantial variation as T approaches Tc. A qualitative explanation of such behaviour is made in terms of phonon assisted activation of Frenkel defects, which increases more rapidly as the superionic transition temperature is approached.  相似文献

The softening of an acoustic and an optical phonons in Hg2Br2 has been investigated by means of the light scattering technique.It has been observed that the cube of the frequency of the soft optical phonon varies proportionally with the temperature below Tc.An expression for the relation of the elastic constant C66 to the temperature has been derived from the phenomenological thermodynamic potential function. The observed temperature dependence of the elastic constant and the optical phonon frequency is described when we assume that the order parameter Q varies as Q ∝ [T ? T0]16.  相似文献

The magnetic field dependence of the structural transition temperature Tm from the cubic to the tetragonal phase has been determined for single crystals of La3S4 and La3Se4. The observed field dependence of Tm can be accounted for by the band Jahn-Teller model of the coupling of an eg-band to the shear mode of the cubic lattice without invoking any coupling to acoustic or optical phonons.  相似文献
