宽光谱平像场全息凹面光栅的优化研究   总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3       下载免费PDF全文
基于凹面光栅的几何理论,推导了子午、弧矢聚焦曲线的数学表达式和全息平像场凹面光栅制作参数的计算关系式.提出了一种新的在整个使用波长范围内同时消除子午和弧矢像差的最佳优化设计方法.这种方法不同于以光线追迹技术为基础的标准光学设计软件如CODEV或ZEMAX的优化设计方法,而是从数学表达式出发,采用光栅优化因子,对凹面光栅的子午聚焦曲线和弧矢聚焦曲线进行拟合,从理论上找到最佳的能够使子午和弧矢像差同时趋于零的像平面,然后再根据拟合参数设计制作光栅.用Matlab软件解决了子午聚焦曲线超越方程无法解的困难;讨论了不同光栅常数和入射角度时对两聚焦曲线拟合程度的影响.提出了在宽光谱使用条件下,可以通过减小入射角度和光栅刻线数来提高光谱像质.  相似文献

We introduce a device based on subwavelength resonant grating technology. Using a single lithography step we built a reflective binary grating that mimics the functionality of a blazed diffraction grating in a flat geometry. We have also demonstrated that efficient subwavelength resonant devices for visible wavelengths can be built using silicon.  相似文献

We present a grating model of two-dimensional (2D) rigorous coupled wave analysis (RCWA) to study top diffraction gratings on light-emitting diodes(LEDs). We compare the integrated-transmission of the non-grating,rectangular-grating,and triangular-grating cases for the same grating period of 6μm,and show that the triangular grating has the best performance. For the triangular grating with 6-μmperiod, the LED achieves the highest light transmission at 6-μ gratingbottom width and 2.9-μm grating depth. Compared with the non-grating case, the optimized light transmission improvement is about 74.6%.The simulation agrees with the experimental data of the thin ploymer grating encapsulated flip-chip(FC) GaN-based LEDs for the light extraction improvement.  相似文献

Shallow etched two dimensional gratings for coupling light between silicon-on-insulator nanophotonic waveguides and vertical optical fibers were designed and experimentally characterized. We show that the large second order back reflection could be suppressed effectively by applying a linear chirp in the grating period for two dimensional grating couplers. The total coupling efficiency from an optical fiber to two orthogonal silicon waveguides is independent of the input polarization. An almost linear relationship between the average effective index of the grating region and the fill factor for 1D grating is obtained and verified. We also show that the average effective index for the two dimensional grating is similar to the one dimensional grating with the same fill factor in the light propagation direction, when the fill factor of the etched holes was larger than 0.5.  相似文献

Modal analysis of a deep-etched low-contrast two-port beam splitter grating under Littrow mounting is presented. The guideline for the design of a subwavelength transmission fused-silica phase grating as high-efficiency grating, polarizing beam splitter (PBS), and two-port beam splitter, is summarized. As an example, a polarization-independent two-port beam splitter grating is designed at wavelength of 1064 nm. We firstly analyzed the physical essence of the grating by the simplified modal method. The guideline for the grating design and the approximate grating parameters are obtained. Then using the rigorous coupled-wave analysis (RCWA) with parameters varying around the approximate ones, optimum grating parameters can be determined. With the design guideline, the time for the rigorous calculation of the grating profile parameters can be reduced significantly.  相似文献

Sensing characteristics of Bragg grating imprinted in a three-mode elliptical core fiber were investigated in details. The grating sensitivity to temperature and to strain was measured for each polarization and spatial mode. The experimental results show very small difference in the grating sensitivity vs. mode order and polarization. We also modeled the sensitivity of the host elliptical core fiber to these two parameters. We demonstrated relatively good agreement between the sensitivity of the grating determined in our experiment and the calculated sensitivity of the host fiber for respective modes.  相似文献

Rigorous coupled-wave analysis (also called the Fourier-modal method) is an efficient tool for the numerical analysis of grating diffraction problems. We show that, with only a few modifications, this method can be used efficiently for the numerical analysis of aperiodic diffraction problems, including photonic crystal waveguides, Bragg mirrors, and grating couplers. We investigate new types of mode recouplings in a concatenated grating structure comprising a long-period grating and a fiber Bragg grating. It is demonstrated that the light coupled out to the cladding mode by one of these gratings can be recoupled back to the guided mode by the other grating. A plane holographic diffraction grating is the simplest grating, yet very important component for many optical devices. Very little has been done with regards to its focusing properties and stigmatic conditions. In this paper, we discuss a holographic plane diffraction grating and show that the grating can exhibit focusing properties under some conditions. By solving a pair of normalized nonlinear coupled-mode equations, we analyze in detail the propagation of ultrashort optical pulses in a nonlinear long-period fiber grating and investigate the conditions for the grating to function as an optical limiter or a saturable absorber. We show that the function of the grating depends on whether the nonlinear effect counteracts or enhances the detuning effect, and the nonlinear effect can be weakened significantly by the group-delay difference between the core mode and the coupled cladding mode. We present simulation results to illustrate these effects and discuss the physical conditions required for an effective operation of a nonlinear long-period grating.  相似文献

We report the results of an experimental investigation of the diffractive properties of a thick index grating embedded in a Fabry-Perot resonator, the so-called intracavity Bragg grating. We compare the performance of this device with that of a bare Bragg grating with same thickness and the same index modulation and establish the improvement in performance with the resonator. The experimental data also fit predictions calculated from a theoretical model.  相似文献

Grating reflectors are a potential low-noise replacement for amorphous multilayer mirrors. We investigate the influence of polarization and refractive index on Brownian thermal noise of binary grating reflectors using Maxwell's stress tensor. Our results demonstrate that the refractive index of the grating material is a critical parameter for thermal noise in these structures. In contrast to multilayer mirrors, a low coating thickness does not necessarily lead to a low thermal noise amplitude for structures with low refractive index. We find that an improved noise performance of grating reflectors requires materials of refractive index ?2.5. We present a factorized expression for the thermal noise of grating reflectors made of arbitrary materials by simply scaling the noise amplitude with the related material parameters.  相似文献

We demonstrate, for the first time to our knowledge, reconstruction of the structure of a long-period grating from its measured core-to-core transmission spectrum intensity. The reconstruction is obtained by writing an auxiliary grating in cascade to the interrogated grating. Our reconstruction technique is based on using the Hilbert transform and a phase-retrieval algorithm. Using our method, we have reconstructed the structure of a uniform long-period grating with a 47% coupling efficiency.  相似文献

A setup in described that gives a very simple visual demonstration of phase grating non-uniformities, such as modulation variations. The principle of the method is that the amplitude transmittance of a phase grating is a chromatic function. We show how this setup can be modified to measure the modulation in the case of a uniform grating. The method is described here in the case of the binary phase grating.  相似文献

We suggest a novel method for significant improvement of fiber Bragg grating (FBG) spectral characteristics based on compensation of repeatable errors during the grating writing process. The method is based on an open loop scheme in which a test grating is written first and then a corrected design is obtained and implemented by writing another (compensated) grating. We apply time-frequency signal-analysis techniques to recover arbitrary distributions of axial strain along a fiber grating from its reflection spectral response. The proposed method permits accurate strain reconstruction with no restrictions on the applied strain profile or on the grating length. We demonstrate the validity and accuracy of the technique by reconstructing the strain field in a fiber grating with a nonmonotonic strain profile, which includes all the following: a constant strain section, high gradient variations, and strain discontinuities.  相似文献

We have investigated the diffraction of light from sinusoidally modulated silver surfaces with grating periods from 4000 to 8000 Å for wavelengths of the visible spectrum. We compare our experiments with theoretical results from a light scattering theory in the first non-vanishing order of the modulation height. This theory includes polarization and the optical constants of the grating material. Good agreement of the theory with the experiments is found for weakly modulated gratings if grating anomalies are avoided.  相似文献
