We show that the nearest point retraction is a uniform quasi-isometry from the Thurston metric on a hyperbolic domain W ì [^(\mathbb C)]{\Omega \subset{\hat{\mathbb C}}} to the boundary Dome(Ω) of the convex hull of its complement. As a corollary, one obtains explicit bounds on the quasi-isometry constant of the nearest point retraction with respect to the Poincaré metric when Ω is uniformly perfect. We also establish Marden and Markovic’s conjecture that Ω is uniformly perfect if and only if the nearest point retraction is Lipschitz with respect to the Poincaré metric on Ω.  相似文献

Our prime goal in this note is to lay the ground for studying free boundaries close to the corner points of a fixed Lipschitz continuous boundary. Our study is restricted to 2-space dimensions and to the obstacle problem. Our main result states that the free boundary cannot enter a corner x0 of the fixed boundary if the (interior) angle is less than π, provided that the boundary datum is zero near to the point x0. For larger angles and other boundary data, the free boundary may enter into corners, as discussed in the text. Bibliography: 10 titles. It is shown that a domain in C N with piecewise smooth boundary (and also of some more general shape) is a domain of holomorphy, provided the Levi form at every regular point is positively semidefinite and the tangent cone is convex at every point outside a boundary subset of zero Hausdorff (2N-2)-dimensional measure.  相似文献

The conformal deformations are contained in two classes of mappings quasiconformal and harmonic mappings. In this paper we consider the intersection of these classes. We show that, every K quasiconformal harmonic mapping between surfaces with boundary is a Lipschitz mapping. This extends some recent results of several authors where the same problem has been considered for plane domains. As an application it is given an explicit Lipschitz constant of normalized isothermal coordinates of a disk-type minimal surface in terms of boundary curve only. It seems that this kind of estimates are new for conformal mappings of the unit disk onto a Jordan domain as well.  相似文献

In an open bounded set Ω, we consider the distance function from ∂Ω associated to a Riemannian metric with C 1,1 coefficients. Assuming that Ω is convex near a boundary point x 0, we show that the distance function is differentiable at x 0 if and only if there exists the tangent space to ∂Ω at x 0. Furthermore, if the distance function is not differentiable at x 0 then there exists a Lipschitz continuous curve, with initial point at x 0, such that the distance function is not differentiable along such a curve.   相似文献

In this paper we prove new results for p harmonic functions, p≠2, 1<p<∞, in Lipschitz and starlike Lipschitz ring domains. In particular we prove the boundary Harnack inequality, Theorem 1, for the ratio of two positive p harmonic functions vanishing on a portion of the boundary of a Lipschitz domain, with constants only depending on p,n and the Lipschitz constant of the domain. For p capacitary functions, in starlike Lipschitz ring domains, we prove an even stronger result, Theorem 2, showing that the ratio is Hölder continuous up to the boundary. Moreover, for p capacitary functions in starlike Lipschitz ring domains we prove, Theorems 3 and 4, appropriate extensions to p≠2, 1<p<∞, of famous results of Dahlberg [12] and Jerison and Kenig [25] on the Poisson kernel associated to the Laplace operator (i.e. p=2).  相似文献

A criteria for the algebraic convergence rate of diffusion semigroups on manifolds with respect to some Lipschitz norms in L 2-sense is presented by using a Lyapunov condition. As application, we apply it to some diffusion processes with heavy tailed invariant distributions. This result is further extended to the reflecting diffusion processes on manifolds with non-convex boundary by using a conformal change of the metric.  相似文献

Sufficient conditions for a spatial quasiconformal mapping f to be Lipschitz or weak Lipschitz continuous at a prescribed point are given. The proofs of these results are based on new growth estimates for the conformal modulus under quasiconformal mappings f. The third problem for the Laplace equation is studied on an open set with Lipschitz boundary. The boundary condition is in Lp and it is fulfilled in the sense of the nontangential limit. The existence and the uniqueness of a solution is proved and the solution is expressed in the form of a single layer potential. Spectral properties of strongly elliptic operators of second order on bounded snowflake domains without W12–extension property are investigated. We prove that the operators have a pure point spectrum and the asymptotic eigenvalue distributions for the counting function N(λ) are of Weyl type. It is shown that the remainder estimate of N(λ) for Dirichlet and Neumann boundary conditions depends on the inner and outer Minkowski dimension of the boundary ∂Ω, respectively.  相似文献

For 1 < p < 2 + ?, under suitable compatibility conditions on b, we obtain existence and uniqueness results with non-tangential maximal function estimate ‖(?u)*‖ p  ≤ Cf p , as well as a pointwise estimate for the associated Robin function. For the simplest elliptic obstacle problem, the behavior of the free boundary in the vicinity of the points where it meets the prescribed boundary of a domain is studied. In this paper a method for fast computations with the inverse to weakly singular, hypersingular and double layer potential boundary integral operators associated with the Laplacian on Lipschitz domains is proposed and analyzed. It is based on the representation formulae suggested for above-mentioned boundary operations in terms of the Poincare-Steklov interface mappings generated by the special decompositions of the interior and exterior domains. Computations with the discrete counterparts of these formulae can be efficiently performed by iterative substructuring algorithms provided some asymptotically optimal techniques for treatment of interface operators on subdomain boundaries. For both two- and three-dimensional cases the computation cost and memory needs are of the order O(N logp N) and O(N log2 N), respectively, with 1 ≤ p ≤ 3, where N is the number of degrees of freedom on the boundary under consideration (some kinds of polygons and polyhedra). The proposed algorithms are well suited for serial and parallel computations.  相似文献

In this paper linear elliptic boundary value problems of second order with non‐smooth data L‐coefficients, sets with Lipschitz boundary, regular sets, non‐homogeneous mixed boundary conditions) are considered. In this work, we study the existence of time periodic weak solution for the N‐dimensional Vlasov–Poisson system with boundary conditions. We start by constructing time periodic solutions with compact support in momentum and bounded electric field for a regularized system. Then, the a priori estimates follow by computations involving the conservation laws of mass, momentum and energy. One of the key point is to impose a geometric hypothesis on the domain: we suppose that its boundary is strictly star‐shaped with respect to some point of the domain. 本文给出了一个新的求解非凸规划问题的同伦方法,称为动边界同伦方程,并在较弱的条件下,证明了同伦路径的存在性和大范围收敛性.与已有的拟法锥条件、伪锥条件下的修正组合同伦方法相比,同伦构造更容易,并且不要求初始点是可行集的内点,因此动边界组合同伦方法比修正组合同伦方法及弱法锥条件下的组合同伦内点法和凝聚约束同伦方法更便于应用.  相似文献

In this paper we show the existence of two principal eigenvalues associated to general non-convex fully nonlinear elliptic operators with Neumann boundary conditions in a bounded C 2 domain. We study these objects and we establish some of their basic properties. Finally, Lipschitz regularity, uniqueness and existence results for the solution of the Neumann problem are given.   相似文献
