This paper deals with the study of the effect of MHD on thin films of a micropolar fluid. These thin films are considered for three different geometries, namely: (i) flow down an inclined plane, (ii) flow on a moving belt and (iii) flow down a vertical cylinder. The transformed boundary layer governing equations of a micropolar fluid and the resulting system of coupled non-linear ordinary differential equations are solved numerically by using shooting method. Numerical results were presented for velocity and micro-rotation profiles within the boundary layer for different parameters of the problem including micropolar fluid parameters, magnetic field parameter, etc., which are also discussed numerically and illustrated graphically.  相似文献

In this paper, a smooth repetitive oscillating wave traveling down the elastic walls of a non-uniform twodimensional channels is considered. It is assumed that the fluid is electrically conducting and a uniform magnetic field is perpendicular to flow. The Sisko fluid is grease thick non-Newtonian fluid can be considered equivalent to blood. Taking long wavelength and low Reynolds number, the equations are reduced. The analytical solution of the emerging non-linear differential equation is obtained by employing Homotopy Perturbation Method(HPM). The outcomes for dimensionless flow rate and dimensionless pressure rise have been computed numerically with respect to sundry concerning parameters amplitude ratio ?, Hartmann number M, and Sisko fluid parameter b1. The behaviors for pressure rise and average friction have been discussed in details and displayed graphically. Numerical and graphical comparison of Newtonian and non-Newtonian has also been evaluated for velocity and pressure rise. It is observed that the magnitude of pressure rise is maximum in the middle of the channel whereas for higher values of fluid parameter it increases. Further, it is also found that the velocity profile shows converse behavior along the walls of the channel against multiple values of fluid parameter.  相似文献

In this study, the fundamental problem of the biomagnetic (blood) fluid flow in a channel with stenosis under the influence of a steady localized magnetic field is studied. The mathematical model used for the formulation of the problem is consistent with the principles of ferrohydrodynamics (FHD) and magnetohydrodynamics (MHD). Blood is considered as a homogeneous Newtonian fluid and is treated as an electrically conducting magnetic fluid which also exhibits magnetization. For the numerical solution of the problem, which is described by a coupled, non-linear system of PDEs, with appropriate boundary conditions, the stream function-vorticity formulation is adopted. The solution is obtained by the development of an efficient pseudotransient numerical methodology using finite differences. This methodology is based on the development of a semi-implicit numerical technique, transformations and stretching of the grid and proper construction of the boundary conditions for the vorticity. Results concerning the velocity and temperature field, skin friction and rate of heat transfer indicate that the presence of the magnetic field influences the flow field considerably.  相似文献

In this paper, the effects of both rotation and magnetic field of the peristaltic transport of a second-order fluid through a porous medium in a channel are studied analytically and computed numerically. The material is represented by the constitutive equations for a second-order fluid. Closed-form solutions under the consideration of long wavelength and low Reynolds number is presented. The analytical expressions for the pressure gradient, pressure rise, friction force, stream function, shear stress, and velocity are obtained in the physical domain. The effects of the non-dimensional wave amplitude, porosity, magnetic field, rotation, and the dimensionless time-mean flow in the wave frame are analyzed theoretically and computed numerically. Numerical results are given and illustrated graphically in each case considered. Comparison was made with the results obtained in the presence and absence of rotation, magnetic field, and porosity. The results indicate that the effects of the non-dimensional wave amplitude, porosity, magnetic field, rotation, and the dimensionless time-mean flow are very pronounced in the phenomena.  相似文献

MR fluid plugging performance by aggregation of magnetized particles in MR fluid is recently expected to be one of the most promising applications in medical or safety devices, such as blood flow control, steam issuing shut-down valve and fuel supply control for automobile. In this study, dynamic response of MR fluid plugging and its breakdown in a pressure mode with complex fluid-wall interactions was experimentally investigated, considering the effects of magnetic flux density, wall surface structure, wall permeability and wall elasticity of tube. Higher endurance pressure is obtained for wall surface groove structure and for steel wall due to a strong anchoring effect by rigid cluster formation in a concave region and strong MR fluid column formation in a channel core region, respectively. Furthermore, MR fluid plugging performance and the fluid storage characteristic of PVA tube as a bio-material was clarified. Because of the large radial expansion of the tube at the applied magnetic region in a pressure mode, PVA tube shows unique characteristics, such as storing MR fluid under magnetic field and MR fluid jet issuing under releasing magnetic field.  相似文献

A boundary layer analysis is presented for non-Newtonian fluid flow and heat transfer over a nonlinearly stretching surface. The Casson fluid model is used to characterize the non-Newtonian fluid behavior. By using suitable transformations, the governing partial differential equations corresponding to the momentum and energy equations are converted into non-linear ordinary differential equations. Numerical solutions of these equations are obtained with the shooting method. The effect of increasing Casson parameter is to suppress the velocity field. However the temperature is enhanced with the increasing Casson parameter.

This paper investigates the three-dimensional flow of a Sisko fluid over a bidirectional stretching sheet, in a porous medium. By using the effect of Cattaneo-Christov heat flux model, heat transfer analysis is illustrated. Using similarity transformation the governing partial differential equations are transferred into a system of ordinary differential equations that are solved numerically by applying Nachtsheim-Swigert shooting iteration technique along with the 6-th order Runge-Kutta integration scheme. The effect of various physical parameters such as Sisko fluid, ratio parameter, thermal conductivity, porous medium, radiation parameter, Brownian motion, thermophoresis, Prandtl number, and Lewis number are graphically represented.  相似文献

The effects of both magnetic field and wall slip conditions on the peristaltic transport of a Newtonian fluid in an asymmetric channel are studied analytically and numerically. The channel asymmetry is generated by propagation of waves on the channel walls travelling with different amplitudes, phases but with the same speed. The long wavelength and low Reynolds number assumptions are considered in obtaining solution for the flow. The flow is investigated in a wave frame of reference moving with velocity of the wave. Closed form expressions have been obtained for the stream function and the axial velocity component in fixed frame. The effects of phase difference, Knudsen number and magnetic field on the pumping characteristics and velocity field are discussed. Several known results of interest are found to follow as particular cases of the solution of the problem considered.  相似文献

A simple fiber sensor for magnetic field measurement based on nanoparticle Fe(3)O(4) magnetic fluid and relative Fresnel reflection is presented. The sensor includes only a light source, three couplers, two photodetectors, and two fiber sensing ends. Magnetic fields at different concentrations of magnetic fluid are measured. Magnetic fluid with high concentration can be used for the measurement of weak magnetic fields, while low concentration fluid is used for the measurement of strong magnetic fields. The temperature dependence of the sensor is also addressed.  相似文献

Motion and deformation of a water-based magnetic fluid on a hydrophobic surface were investigated under gravity and a magnetic field. Surface energy and the resultant contact angle of the magnetic fluid depend on the surfactant concentration. The fluid viscosity is governed mainly by magnetite concentration. The front edge of the droplet moved under a weak external field. The rear edge required a higher external field for movement. The forces of gravity and the magnetic field for moving of the front edge are almost equal. However, those of the rear edge are different. The motion of magnetic fluids by an external field depends on concentrations of surfactants and magnetic particles, the external field, and experimental assembly.  相似文献

We have analyzed the MHD flow of a conducting couple stress fluid in a slit channel with rhythmically contracting walls. In this analysis we are taking into account the induced magnetic field. Analytical expressions for the stream function, the magnetic force function, the axial pressure gradient, the axial induced magnetic field and the distribution of the current density across the channel are obtained using long wavelength approximation. The results for the pressure rise, the frictional force per wave length, the axial induced magnetic field and distribution of the current density across the channel have been computed numerically and the results were studied for various values of the physical parameters of interest, such as the couple stress parameter γ, the Hartmann number M, the magnetic Reynolds number Rm and the time averaged mean flow rate θ. Contour plots for the stream and magnetic force functions are obtained and the trapping phenomena for the flow field is discussed.  相似文献

MAGIC (MAG-netic Intelligent Compound) is a solidified magnetic ferrofluid (MF) containing both magnetic particles (MPs) and abrasive particles (APs, nonmagnetic) of micron size. The distribution of APs in MAGIC can be controlled by applying a magnetic field during cooling process of MAGIC fluid. In this paper, the influences of magnetic field, size and concentration of particles on the final structures of MPs and the distributions of APs in MAGIC fluid are preliminarily investigated using Stokesian dynamic (SD) simulation method. Simulation results show that MPs prefer to form strip-like structures in MAGIC fluid, the reason for this phenomenon is mainly attributed to the strong dipolar interactions between them. It is also found that MPs prefer to form big agglomerations in weak magnetic field while chains and strip-like structures in strong magnetic field; no long chains or strip-like structures of MPs are observed in low-concentration MAGIC fluid; and for big-size MPs, pure wall-like structures are formed. Evaluation on the distribution of APs with uniformity coefficient shows that strong magnetic field, high concentration and small-size particles can induce more uniform distribution of APs in MAGIC fluid, the uniformity of APs in MAGIC is about 10% higher than that in normal grinding tools.  相似文献

This article describes influence of strong (ionizing) electric field on sprayability of magnetic fluid containing colloid particles with size in the range from 10 to 20 nm of magnetite Fe3O4. Magnetic fluids can be based for example on both transformer oil and physiological solution for application in medical using (in human medical science research), that supports a fluid colloidal system. Further component of magnetic fluid is surfactant. It is acting as surface-active substance that prevents from nanometric dimension particle settlement. Magnetic fluid gets off nozzle with diameter in range 0.3–1.0 mm from container in surroundings of ionizing (i.e. strong) electric field (E > 107 V m?1). As a consequence of action of electric field it gives out suppression surface tension in fluid what leads onwards to decomposition of magnetic fluid ligament at the end of nozzle. The diameter of nozzle oneself respects basic theoretical calculations in regards of fluid concentration and thereinbefore its selected size. Magnetic fluid in dependency on its used liquid base has weak-polar till polar orientation polarization character. It gives out sprayability in non-homogeneous electric field E in combination with magnetic field of intensity H. Orientation of vectors Ê and ?, resp. induction of magnetic field B is defined by parallel or vertical direction. Results are confronted with measurements realized explicitly only at action of electric field (variable B = 0). In the case of magnetic field applications with permanent magnet together with electric non-homogeneous field it gives out unconventional dynamics of electrical charging particles of macroscopic dimension. Orientation particle track is influenced by orientation of field vector combinations. This phenomenon develops magneto-dielectric anisotropy, which oneself manifests behaviour of electrophysical quantities characterizing examination system. In consideration of technology utilization of this method it is very important to respect applied magnetic fluid concentration. Electrical characteristics were examined for volume concentration of magnetite particles in the range from 0.125% to 18%. Nevertheless efficiency optimization of given media suggests to boundary concentration of magnetic fluid of 4.0%, when it is in the regions of weak polar till polar material. Electrophysical research refers to exploitation of applied magnetic layer technology on dielectric insulating substances with inorganic origin as well as thin layer technology coating plastic foils created from macromolecular organic substance.  相似文献

In the present study, simultaneous effects of metallic nanoparticles and magnetohydrodynamic due to stagnation point flow of nanofluid along a wave circular cylinder is presented. The effect of induced magnetic field is incorporated to deal the boundary and thermal boundary layer domain. Mathematical modelling for momentum and energy equation is constructed that is based upon three different kinds of nanoparticles namely: copper (Cu), Titanium di oxide (TiO2), and alumina (Al2O3) within the working fluid water. Each mixture is analysed at the individual level and made comparison amongst all the mixture to examine the resistance and thermal conductivity of nanofluid within the boundary layer region. The solutions are exposed via boundary value problem using shooting method along with the Runge-Kutta-Fehlberg method. The characteristics of emerging parameters for the fluid flow and heat transfer are discussed through graphs and tables. The effects of ϕ (nanoparticle volume fraction) on heat transfer and shear stress at the wall are analysed in detail. It is finally concluded that by increasing the ratio of nanoparticles there is a significant increase in the temperature but slight decrease in the velocity profile.  相似文献

In this study, a magnetorheological (MR) fluid is prepared using carbonyl iron filings and low viscosity lubricating oil. The effects of magnetic field and weight percentage of particles on the viscosity of the MR fluid have been measured using a rotational viscometer. The yield stress under an applied magnetic field was also obtained experimentally. In the absence of an applied magnetic field, the MR fluid behaves as a Newtonian fluid. When the magnetic field is applied, the MR fluid behaves like Bingham plastics with a magnetic field dependent yield stress. Afterward, the results compared with those of CFD simulation of two eccentric cylinders in the MR fluid. Results show that the influences of MR effects, caused by the applied magnetic field, on the model characteristics are significant and not negligible. The viscosity is enhanced by increasing of the magnetic field, eccentricity ratio and weight percentage of suspensions. The MR effects and increasing of weight percentage and eccentricity ratio also provide an enhancement in the yield stresses and required total torque for rotation of inner cylinder. Also the simulation results indicate a good representation of the experiment by the model.  相似文献

The dynamic rheological properties of viscoelastic magnetic fluids in externally applied uniform magnetic fields are investigated by a laboratory-made cone-plate rheometer in this study. In particular, the effects of the magnetic field on the viscoelastic properties (the complex dynamic modulus) of the viscoelastic magnetic fluids are studied. In the investigation, three viscoelastic magnetic fluids are made by mixing a magnetic fluid and a viscoelastic fluid with different mass ratios. As a supplementation to the experimental investigation, a theoretical analysis is also presented. The present study shows that the viscosity and elasticity of the viscoelastic magnetic fluids are significantly influenced by the magnetic field and the concentrations of the magnetic particles in the test fluids. Theoretical analysis qualitatively explains the present findings.  相似文献

A tuned magnetic fluid damper (TMFD) is a dynamic absorber using a magnetic fluid. A characteristic of the TMFD is changing natural frequency of a magnetic fluid sloshing under a magnetic field. The magnetic fluid sloshing in a coaxial cylindrical container was analyzed theoretically under the axisymmetrical magnetic field. The theoretical results showed that a radial component of the magnetic field also changed the natural sloshing frequency. A policy of the suitable design of the TMFD was presented and the effect of the radial component of the magnetic field was verified experimentally.  相似文献
