Let X be a topological space. The homology of the iterated loop space HΩnX is an algebra over the homology of the framed n-disks operad HfDn [E. Getzler, Batalin-Vilkovisky algebras and two-dimensional topological field theories, Comm. Math. Phys. 159 (2) (1994) 265-285; P. Salvatore, N. Wahl, Framed discs operads and Batalin-Vilkovisky algebras, Q. J. Math. 54 (2) (2003) 213-231]. We explicitly determine this HfDn-algebra structure on H(ΩnX;Q). We show that the action of H(SO(n)) on the iterated loop space HΩnX is related to the J-homomorphism and that the BV-operator on H(Ω2X) vanishes on spherical classes only in characteristic other than 2.  相似文献

LetH n?1 denote the set of all (n ? 1)-dimensional linear subspaces of euclideann-dimensional spaceE n (n≧3), and letJ andK be two compact convex subsets ofE n. It is well-known thatJ andK are translation equivalent (or homothetic) if for allHH n?1 the respective orthogonal projections, sayJ H, KH, are translation equivalent (or homothetic). This fact gives rise to the following stability problem: Ifε≧0 is given, and if for everyHH n?1 a translate (or homothetic copy) ofK H is within Hausdorff distanceε ofJ H, how close isJ to a nearest translate (or homothetic copy) ofK? In the case of translations it is shown that under the above assumptions there is always a translate ofK within Hausdorff distance (1 + 2√2)ε ofJ. Similar results for homothetic transformations are proved and applications regarding the stability of characterizations of centrally symmetric sets and spheres are given. Furthermore, it is shown that these results hold even ifH n?1 is replaced by a rather small (but explicitly specified) subset ofH n?1.  相似文献

Abstract

Let H be a finite dimensional Hopf algebra over a field k. We show that H contains a unique maximal Hopf ideal J w (H) contained in J(H), the Jacobson radical of H. We give various characterizations of J w (H), for example J w (H) = Ann H ((H/J(H))?n ) for all large enough n. The smallest positive integer n with this property is denoted by l w (H). We prove that l w (H) equals the smallest number n such that (H/J(H))?n contains every projective indecomposable H/J w (H)-module as a direct summand. This also equals the minimal n such that the tensor product of n suitable simple H-modules contains the projective cover of the trivial H/J w (H)-module as a direct summand. We define projective homomorphisms between H-modules, which are used to obtain various reciprocity laws for tensor products of simple H-modules and their projective indecomposable direct summands. We also discuss some consequences of our general results in case H = kG is a group algebra of a finite group G and k is a field of characteristic p.  相似文献

Let X be a nonsingular algebraic curve of genus g?3, and let Mξ denote the moduli space of stable vector bundles of rank n?2 and degree d with fixed determinant ξ over X such that n and d are coprime. We assume that if g=3 then n?4 and if g=4 then n?3, and suppose further that n0, d0 are integers such that n0?1 and nd0+n0d>nn0(2g-2). Let E be a semistable vector bundle over X of rank n0 and degree d0. The generalised Picard bundle Wξ(E) is by definition the vector bundle over Mξ defined by the direct image where Uξ is a universal vector bundle over X×Mξ. We obtain an inversion formula allowing us to recover E from Wξ(E) and show that the space of infinitesimal deformations of Wξ(E) is isomorphic to H1(X,End(E)). This construction gives a locally complete family of vector bundles over Mξ parametrised by the moduli space M(n0,d0) of stable bundles of rank n0 and degree d0 over X. If (n0,d0)=1 and Wξ(E) is stable for all EM(n0,d0), the construction determines an isomorphism from M(n0,d0) to a connected component M0 of a moduli space of stable sheaves over Mξ. This applies in particular when n0=1, in which case M0 is isomorphic to the Jacobian J of X as a polarised variety. The paper as a whole is a generalisation of results of Kempf and Mukai on Picard bundles over J, and is also related to a paper of Tyurin on the geometry of moduli of vector bundles.  相似文献

The Turán number T(n, l, k) is the smallest possible number of edges in a k-graph on n vertices such that every l-set of vertices contains an edge. Given a k-graph H = (V(H), E(H)), we let Xs(S) equal the number of edges contained in S, for any s-set S?V(H). Turán's problem is equivalent to estimating the expectation E(Xl), given that min(Xl) ≥ 1. The following lower bound on the variance of Xs is proved:
Var(Xs)?mmn?2ks?kns?1nk1
, where m = |E(H)| and m = (kn) ? m. This implies the following: putting t(k, l) = limn→∞T(n, l, k)(kn)?1 then t(k, l) ≥ T(s, l, k)((ks) ? 1)?1, whenever sl > k ≥ 2. A connection of these results with the existence of certain t-designs is mentioned.  相似文献

We define, in a purely algebraic way, 1-motives Alb+(X), Alb(X), Pic+(X), and Pic(X) associated with any algebraic scheme X over an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero. For X over C of dimension n, the Hodge realizations are, respectively, H2n − 1 (X, Z(n))/(torsion), H1 (X, Z)/(torsion), H1 (X, Z(1)), and H2n − 1 (X, Z(1 n))/(torsion).  相似文献

Let X0,X1,… be i.i.d. random variables with E(X0)=0, E(X20)=1 and E(exp{tX0})<∞ for any |t|<t0. We prove that the weighted sums V(n)=∑j=0aj(n)Xj, n?1 obey a moderately large deviation principle if the weights satisfy certain regularity conditions. Then we prove a new version of the Erdös-Rényi-Shepp laws for the weighted sums.  相似文献

Let Xn, n ∈ N be a sequence of non-empty sets, ψn : Xn2 → IR+. We consider the relation E = E((Xn, ψn)n∈N) on ∏n∈N Xn by (x, y) ∈ E((Xn, ψn)n∈N) <=>Σn∈Nψn(x(n), y(n)) < +∞. If E is an equiv- alence relation and all ψn, n ∈ N, are Borel, we show a trichotomy that either IRN/e1≤B E, E1≤B E, or E≤B E0. We also prove that, for a rather general case, E((Xn, ψn)n∈N) is an equivalence relation iff it is an ep-like equivalence relation.  相似文献

The upper chromatic number of a hypergraph H=(X,E) is the maximum number k for which there exists a partition of X into non-empty subsets X=X1X2∪?∪Xk such that for each edge at least two vertices lie in one of the partite sets. We prove that for every n?3 there exists a 3-uniform hypergraph with n vertices, upper chromatic number 2 and ⌈n(n-2)/3⌉ edges which implies that a corresponding bound proved in [K. Diao, P. Zhao, H. Zhou, About the upper chromatic number of a co-hypergraph, Discrete Math. 220 (2000) 67-73] is best-possible.  相似文献

Most of results of Bestvina and Mogilski [Characterizing certain incomplete infinite-di-mensional absolute retracts. Michigan Math. J., 33, 291-313 (1986)] on strong Z-sets in ANR's and absorbing sets is generalized to nonseparable case. It is shown that if an ANR X is locally homotopy dense embeddable in infinite-dimensional Hilbert manifolds and w(U ) = w(X ) (where "w"is the topological weight) for each open nonempty subset U of X , then X itself is homotopy dense embeddable in a Hilbert manifold. It is also demonstrated that whenever X is an AR, its weak product W (X, ) = {(x n ) ∞ n=1 ∈ X ω : x n = for almost all n} is homeomorphic to a pre-Hilbert space E with E ~ = ΣE. An intrinsic characterization of manifolds modelled on such pre-Hilbert spaces is given.  相似文献

Abstract

Let Sing n be the semigroup of all singular full transformations on the set X n  = {1, 2,…, n} under the composition of functions. Let E(J n ? 1) be the set of all idempotents of the top 𝒥-class J n ? 1 = {α ∈ Sing n :|im α| = n-1}. For any nonempty subset I of E(J n  ? 1), the aim of this paper is to find a constructive necessary and sufficient condition for the semiband S(I) = ?I? to be ?-trivial. Further, the semiband S(I) is locally maximal ?-trivial if S(I) is ?-trivial and S(I ∪ {e}) is not ?-trivial for any e ∈ E(J n ? 1 )\I. As applications, we classify locally maximal ?-trivial subsemibands and locally maximal regular ?-trivial subsemibands of Sing n , respectively. Moreover, the characterization of which S(I) is a band is obtained.

Let {Xn}n≥1 be a sequence of independent and identically distributed random variables. For each integer n ≥ 1 and positive constants r, t, and ?, let Sn = Σj=1nXj and E{N(r, t, ?)} = Σn=1 nr?2P{|Sn| > ?nrt}. In this paper, we prove that (1) lim?→0+?α(r?1)E{N(r, t, ?)} = K(r, t) if E(X1) = 0, Var(X1) = 1, and E(| X1 |t) < ∞, where 2 ≤ t < 2r ≤ 2t, K(r, t) = {2α(r?1)2Γ((1 + α(r ? 1))2)}{(r ? 1) Γ(12)}, and α = 2t(2r ? t); (2) lim?→0+G(t, ?)H(t, ?) = 0 if 2 < t < 4, E(X1) = 0, Var(X1) > 0, and E(|X1|t) < ∞, where G(t, ?) = E{N(t, t, ?)} = Σn=1nt?2P{| Sn | > ?n} → ∞ as ? → 0+ and H(t, ?) = E{N(t, t, ?)} = Σn=1 nt?2P{| Sn | > ?n2t} → ∞ as ? → 0+, i.e., H(t, ?) goes to infinity much faster than G(t, ?) as ? → 0+ if 2 < t < 4, E(X1) = 0, Var(X1) > 0, and E(| X1 |t) < ∞. Our results provide us with a much better and deeper understanding of the tail probability of a distribution.  相似文献

Let B1, B2, ... be a sequence of independent, identically distributed random variables, letX0 be a random variable that is independent ofBn forn?1, let ρ be a constant such that 0<ρ<1 and letX1,X2, ... be another sequence of random variables that are defined recursively by the relationshipsXnXn-1+Bn. It can be shown that the sequence of random variablesX1,X2, ... converges in law to a random variableX if and only ifE[log+¦B1¦]<∞. In this paper we let {B(t):0≦t<∞} be a stochastic process with independent, homogeneous increments and define another stochastic process {X(t):0?t<∞} that stands in the same relationship to the stochastic process {B(t):0?t<∞} as the sequence of random variablesX1,X2,...stands toB1,B2,.... It is shown thatX(t) converges in law to a random variableX ast →+∞ if and only ifE[log+¦B(1)¦]<∞ in which caseX has a distribution function of class L. Several other related results are obtained. The main analytical tool used to obtain these results is a theorem of Lukacs concerning characteristic functions of certain stochastic integrals.  相似文献

Let F denote a finite field with q=pf elements, and let σ(A) equal the trace of the square matrix A. This paper evaluates exponential sums of the form S(E,X1,…,Xn)e{?σ(CX1?XnE)}, where S(E,X1,…,Xn) denotes a summation over all matrices E,X1,…,Xn of appropriate sizes over F, and C is a fixed matrix. This evaluation is then applied to the problem of counting ranked solutions to matrix equations of the form U1?UαA+DV1?Vβ=B where A,B,D are fixed matrices over F.  相似文献

Let R be a semiprime ring with symmetric Martindale quotient ring Q, n ≥ 2 and let f(X) = X n h(X), where h(X) is a polynomial over the ring of integers with h(0) = ±1. Then there is a ring decomposition Q = Q 1Q 2Q 3 such that Q 1 is a ring satisfying S 2n?2, the standard identity of degree 2n ? 2, Q 2 ? M n (E) for some commutative regular self-injective ring E such that, for some fixed q > 1, x q  = x for all x ∈ E, and Q 3 is a both faithful S 2n?2-free and faithful f-free ring. Applying the theorem, we characterize m-power commuting maps, which are defined by linear generalized differential polynomials, on a semiprime ring.  相似文献

Let E1, E2, be Hilbert spaces, H(E1,E2) be the space of functions, bounded and analytic in the disk D, with values in the space of bounded linear operators from E1 to E2. In this paper a general theory of operator-valued Bessel functions is presented. These functions arise naturally in representation theory in the context of metaplectic representations, discrete series, and limits of discrete series for certain semi-simple Lie groups. In general, Bessel functions Jλ are associated to the action by automorphisms of a compact group U on a locally compact abelian group X, and are indexed by the irreducible representations λ of U that appear in the primary decomposition of the regular representation of U on L2(X). Then on the λ-primary constituent of L2(X), the Fourier transform is described by the Hankel transform corresponding to Jλ. More detailed information is available in the case in which (U, X) is an orthogonal transformation group which possesses a system of polar coordinates. In particular, when X=Fk×n,F a real finite-dimensional division algebra, with k ? 2n and O(k, F), the representations λ of U are induced in a certain sense from representations π of GL(n, F). This leads to a characterization of Jλ as a reduced Bessel function defined on the component of 1 in GL(n, F) and to the connection between metaplectic representations and holomorphic discrete series for the group of biholomorphic automorphisms of the Siegel upper half-plane in the complexification of Fn × n.  相似文献

We present in this paper ultimate boundedness results for a third-order system of non-linear differential equations of the form ·X + AX? + B/.X + H(X) = P(t, X, /.X, X?). where A, B are constant symmetric n × n matrices and X, H(X), P(t, X, X, X) are real n-vectors with H:RnRn and P: RXRnXRnXRnXRnXRncontinuous in their respective arguments. Our results give an n-dimensional analogue of an earlier result of Ezeilo in [1] and extend other earlier results for the case in which we do not necessarily require that H(X) be differentiable.  相似文献
