We investigate GI X /M(n)//N systems with stochastic customer acceptance policy, function of the customer batch size and the number of customers in the system at its arrival. We address the time-dependent and long-run analysis of the number of customers in the system at prearrivals and postarrivals of batches and seen by customers at their arrival to the system, as well as customer blocking probabilities. These results are then used to derive the continuous-time long-run distribution of the number of customers in the system. Our analysis combines Markov chain embedding with uniformization and uses stochastic ordering as a way to bound the errors of the computed performance measures.   相似文献

This paper discusses the asymptotic behavior of the loss probability for general queues with finite GI/M/1 type structure such as GI/M/c/K, SM/M/1/K and GI/MSP/1/K queues. We find an explicit expression for the asymptotic behavior of the loss probability as K tends to infinity. With the result, it is shown that the loss probability tends to 0 at a geometric rate. We derive fast recursions to compute the probability that k or more consecutive customer losses take place during a busy period of a queue, the so called k-CCL probability, for regular and oscillating M X /G/1/n systems.  相似文献

We consider an M/PH/1 queue with workload-dependent balking. An arriving customer joins the queue and stays until served if and only if the system workload is no more than a fixed level at the time of his arrival. We begin by considering a fluid model where the buffer content changes at a rate determined by an external stochastic process with finite state space. We derive systems of first-order linear differential equations for the mean and LST (Laplace-Stieltjes Transform) of the busy period in this model and solve them explicitly. We obtain the mean and LST of the busy period in the M/PH/1 queue with workload-dependent balking as a special limiting case of this fluid model. We illustrate the results with numerical examples.   相似文献

We explore M/G/∞ systems ‘fed’ by Poissonian inflows with infinite arrival rates. Three processes – corresponding to the system's state, workload, and queue-size – are studied and analyzed. Closed form formulae characterizing the system's stationary structure and correlation structure are derived. And, the issues of queue finiteness, workload summability, and Long Range Dependence are investigated. We then turn to devise a ‘reverse engineering’ scheme for the design of the system's correlation structure. Namely: how to construct an M/G/∞ system with a pre-desired ‘target’ workload/queue auto-covariance function. The ‘reverse engineering’ scheme is applied to various examples, including ones with infinite queues and non-summable workloads. We consider an M [X]/G/1 retrial queue subject to breakdowns where the retrial time is exponential and independent of the number of customers applying for service. If a coming batch of customers finds the server idle, one of the arriving customers begins his service immediately and the rest joins a retrial group (called orbit) to repeat his request later; otherwise, if the server is busy or down, all customers of the coming batch enter the orbit. It is assumed that the server has a constant failure rate and arbitrary repair time distribution. We study the ergodicity of the embedded Markov chain, its stationary distribution and the joint distribution of the server state and the orbit size in steady-state. The orbit and system size distributions are obtained as well as some performance measures of the system. The stochastic decomposition property and the asymptotic behavior under high rate of retrials are discussed. We also analyse some reliability problems, the k-busy period and the ordinary busy period of our retrial queue. Besides, we give a recursive scheme to compute the distribution of the number of served customers during the k-busy period and the ordinary busy period. The effects of several parameters on the system are analysed numerically. I. Atencia’s and Moreno’s research is supported by the MEC through the project MTM2005-01248.  相似文献

We study a GI/M/c type queueing system with vacations in which all servers take vacations together when the system becomes empty. These servers keep taking synchronous vacations until they find waiting customers in the system at a vacation completion instant. The vacation time is a phase-type (PH) distributed random variable. Using embedded Markov chain modeling and the matrix geometric solution methods, we obtain explicit expressions for the stationary probability distributions of the queue length at arrivals and the waiting time. To compare the vacation model with the classical GI/M/c queue without vacations, we prove conditional stochastic decomposition properties for the queue length and the waiting time when all servers are busy. Our model is a generalization of several previous studies.  相似文献

Elliptic curve cryptosystems (ECCs) have become increasingly popular due to their efficiency and the small size of the keys they use. Particularly, the anomalous curves introduced by Koblitz allow a complex representation of the keys, denoted τNAF, that make the computations over these curves more efficient. In this article, we propose an efficient method for randomizing a τNAF to produce different equivalent representations of the same key to the same complex base τ. We prove that the average Hamming density of the resulting representations is 0.5. We identify the pattern of the τNAFs yielding the maximum number of representations and the formula governing this number. We also present deterministic methods to compute the average and the exact number of possible representations of a τNAF.   相似文献

An “m-consecutive-k-out-of-n:F system” consists of n components ordered on a line; the system fails if and only if there are at least m nonoverlapping runs of k consecutive failed components. In this paper, we give a recursive formula to compute the reliability of such a system. Thereafter, we state two asymptotic results concerning the failure time Z n of the system. The first result concerns a limit theorem for Z n when the failure times of components are not necessarily with identical failure distributions. In the second one, we prove that, for an arbitrary common failure distribution of components, the limit system failure distribution is always of the Poisson class.   相似文献

In this paper, we introduce a new heuristic approach for the numerical analysis of queueing systems. In particular, we study the general, multi-server queueing loss system, the GI/G/n/0 queue, with an emphasis on the calculation of steady-state loss probabilities. Two new heuristics are developed, called the GM Heuristic and the MG Heuristic, both of which make use of an exact analysis of the corresponding single-server GI/G/1/0 queue. The GM Heuristic also uses an exact analysis of the GI/M/n/0 queue, while the MG Heuristic uses an exact analysis of the M/G/n/0 queue. Experimental results are based on the use of two-phase Coxian distributions for both the inter-arrival time and the service time; these include an error analysis for each heuristic and the derivation of experimental probability bounds for the loss probability. For the class of problems studied, it is concluded that there are likely to be many situations where the accuracy of the GM Heuristic is adequate for practical purposes. Methods are also developed for combining the GM and MG Heuristics. In some cases, this leads to approximations that are significantly more accurate than those obtained by the individual heuristics.  相似文献

We consider the M/M/1 queue with processor sharing. We study the conditional sojourn time distribution, conditioned on the customer’s service requirement, in various asymptotic limits. These include large time and/or large service request, and heavy traffic, where the arrival rate is only slightly less than the service rate. The asymptotic formulas relate to, and extend, some results of Morrison (SIAM J. Appl. Math. 45:152–167, [1985]) and Flatto (Ann. Appl. Probab. 7:382–409, [1997]). This paper solves the problem of finding exact formulas for the waiting time cdf and queue length distribution of first-in-first-out M/G/1 queues in equilibrium with Pareto service. The formulas derived are new and are obtained by directly inverting the relevant Pollaczek-Khinchin formula and involve single integrals of non-oscillating real valued functions along the positive real line. Tables of waiting time and queue length probabilities are provided for certain parameter values under heavy traffic conditions.   相似文献

We give in this paper an algorithm to compute the sojourn time distribution in the processor sharing, single server queue with Poisson arrivals and phase type distributed service times. In a first step, we establish the differential system governing the conditional sojourn times probability distributions in this queue, given the number of customers in the different phases of the PH distribution at the arrival instant of a customer. This differential system is then solved by using a uniformization procedure and an exponential of matrix. The proposed algorithm precisely consists of computing this exponential with a controlled accuracy. This algorithm is then used in practical cases to investigate the impact of the variability of service times on sojourn times and the validity of the so-called reduced service rate (RSR) approximation, when service times in the different phases are highly dissymmetrical. For two-stage PH distributions, we give conjectures on the limiting behavior in terms of an M/M/1 PS queue and provide numerical illustrative examples. This revised version was published online in June 2005 with corrected coverdate  相似文献

Following Doornik (J Econ Surv 12:573–593, 1998) I present a procedure to approximate the asymptotic distributions of systems cointegration tests with a prior adjustment for deterministic terms suggested by Lütkepohl (Econometrica 72:647–662, 2004), Saikkonen and Lütkepohl (Econometric Theory 16:373–406, 2000a, J Business Econ Stat 18:451–464, 2000b, Time Series Anal 21:435–456, 2000c) and Saikkonen and Luukkonen (J Econ 81:93–126, 1997). These tests rely upon different assumptions as to the inclusion of deterministic components such as a constant, a linear trend or a level shift. The asymptotic distributions, which are functions of Brownian motions, are approximated by Gamma distributions. Only estimates of the mean and variance of the asymptotic test distributions are needed to fit the Gamma distributions. Such estimates are obtained from response surfaces. The required coefficients to compute the asymptotic moments are presented in this paper. Via the fitted Gamma distributions one can, then, easily derive p-values or arbitrary percentiles.  相似文献

Lascar described E KP as a composition of E L and the topological closure of E L (Casanovas et al. in J Math Log 1(2):305–319). We generalize this result to some other pairs of equivalence relations. Motivated by an attempt to construct a new example of a non-G-compact theory, we consider the following example. Assume G is a group definable in a structure M. We define a structure M′ consisting of M and X as two sorts, where X is an affine copy of G and in M′ we have the structure of M and the action of G on X. We prove that the Lascar group of M′ is a semi-direct product of the Lascar group of M and G/G L . We discuss the relationship between G-compactness of M and M′. This example may yield new examples of non-G-compact theories. The first author is supported by the Polish Goverment grant N N201 384134. This paper focuses on easily computable numerical approximations for the distribution and moments of the steadystate waiting times in a stable GI/G/1 queue. The approximation methodology is based on the theory of Fredholm integral equations and involves solving a linear system of equations. Numerical experimentation for various M/G/1 and GI/M/1 queues reveals that the methodology results in estimates for the mean and variance of waiting times within ±1% of the corresponding exact values. Comparisons with competing approaches establish that our methodology is not only more accurate, but also more amenable to obtaining waiting time approximations from the operational data. Approximations are also obtained for the distributions of steadystate idle times and interdeparture times. The approximations presented in this paper are intended to be useful in roughcut analysis and design of manufacturing, telecommunications, and computer systems as well as in the verification of the accuracies of inequalities, bounds, and approximations.  相似文献

Let S be a pomonoid and I a proper right ideal of S. In a previous paper, using the amalgamated coproduct A(I) of two copies of S S over I, we were able to solve one of the problems posed in S. Bulman-Fleming et al. (Commun. Algebra 34:1291–1317, 2006). In the present paper, we investigate further flatness properties of A(I). We also solve another problem stated in the paper cited above. Namely, we determine the condition under which Rees factor S-posets have property (P w ). Research supported by nwnu-kjcxgc-03-18.  相似文献

The hyperoperations, called theta-operations (δ), are motivated from the usual property, which the derivative has on the derivation of a product of functions. Using any map on a set, one can define δ-operations. In this paper, we continue our study on the δ-operations on groupoids, rings, fields and vector spaces or on the corresponding hyperstructures. Using δ-operations one obtains, mainly, Hwstructures, which form the largest class of the hyperstructures. For representation theory of hyperstructures, by hypermatrices, one needs special Hv-rings or Hy-fields, so these hyperstructures can be used. Moreover, we study the relation of these δ-structures with other classes of hyperstructures, especially with the Hv-structures.  相似文献

The present paper deals with the problem of calculating queue length distributions in a polling model with (exhaustive) k-limited service under the assumption of general arrival, service and setup distributions. The interest for this model is fueled by an application in the field of logistics. Knowledge of the queue length distributions is needed to operate the system properly. The multi-queue polling system is decomposed into single-queue vacation systems with k-limited service and state-dependent vacations, for which the vacation distributions are computed in an iterative approximate manner. These vacation models are analyzed via matrix-analytic techniques. The accuracy of the approximation scheme is verified by means of an extensive simulation study. The developed approximation turns out to be accurate, robust and computationally efficient. In this note we study the relation between k R -spaces and k-spaces and prove that a k R -space with a σ-hereditarily closure-preserving k-network consisting of compact subsets is a k-space, and that a k R -space with a point-countable k-network consisting of compact subsets need not be a k-space.
