A Finite Difference Scheme for Blow-Up Solutions of Nonlinear Wave Equations

<正>We consider a finite difference scheme for a nonlinear wave equation,whose solutions may lose their smoothness in finite time,i.e.,blow up in finite time.In order to numerically reproduce blow-up solutions,we propose a rule for a time-stepping, which is a variant of what was successfully used in the case of nonlinear parabolic equations.A numerical blow-up time is defined and is proved to converge,under a certain hypothesis,to the real blow-up time as the grid size tends to zero.     

KAM Theory for Partial Differential Equations

In the last years much progress has been achieved in KAM theory concerning bifurcation of quasi-periodic solutions of Hamiltonian or reversible partial differential equations.We provide an overview of the state of the art in this field.

Local Unstable Entropy and Local Unstable Pressure for Partially Hyperbolic Endomorphisms*

In this paper, local unstable metric entropy, local unstable topological entropy and local unstable pressure for partially hyperbolic endomorphisms are introduced and investigated. Specially, two variational principles concerning relationships among the above mentioned numbers are formulated.     

A Direct Method of Moving Planes to Fractional Power SubLaplace Equations on the Heisenberg Group

We give the direct method of moving planes for solutions to the conformally invariant fractional power sub Laplace equation on the Heisenberg group.The method is based on four maximum principles derived here.Then symmetry and nonexistence of positive cylindrical solutions are proved.     

Nonconforming Finite Element Methods for the Constrained Optimal Control Problems Governed by Nonsmooth Elliptic Equations

In this paper,nonconforming finite element methods(FEMs)are proposed for the constrained optimal control problems(OCPs)governed by the nonsmooth elliptic equations,in which the popular EQr1 ot element is employed to approximate the state and adjoint state,and the piecewise constant element is used to approximate the control.Firstly,the convergence and superconvergence properties for the nonsmooth elliptic equation are obtained by introducing an auxiliary problem.Secondly,the goal-oriented error estimates are obtained for the objective function through establishing the negative norm error estimate.Lastly,the methods are extended to some other well-known nonconforming elements.

Hölder,Sobolev,weak-type and BMO estimates in mixed-norm with weights for parabolic equations

We prove weighted mixed-norm Lqt(W2,px)and Lqt(C2,αx)estimates for 10,x∈Rn.x∈Rn,The coefficients a(t)=(aij(t))are just bounded,measurable,symmetric and uniformly elliptic.Furthermore,we show strong,weak type and BMO-Sobolev estimates with parabolic Muckenhoupt weights.It is quite remarkable that most of our results are new even for the classical heat equation?tu?Δu+u=f.     

ON THE DIFFERENTIAL AND DIFFERENCE INDEPENDENCE OFΓANDζ

In this paper,we study the algebraic differential and the difference independence between the Riemann zeta function and the Euler gamma function.It is proved that the Riemann zeta function and the Euler gamma function cannot satisfy a class of nontrivial algebraic differential equations and algebraic difference equations.     

PRECISE VALUES OF THE BLOCH CONSTANTS OF CERTAIN LOG-p-HARMONIC MAPPINGS

Eigenvectors and surjectivity for α-lipschitz mappings in banach spaces

Summary The main purpose of this paper is to find the conditions under which an lipschitz mapping, defined in a Banach space, admits eigenvectors. We then apply the obtained results to some surjectivity problems proving theorems which contain, as particular cases, the well known theorems of Rothe, Krasnoselskij and Schaefer. Fixed points, eigenvalues and surjectivity for (ws)-compact operators on unbounded convex sets

The paper studies the existence of fixed points for some nonlinear (ws)-compact, weakly condensing and strictly quasibounded operators defined on an unbounded closed convex subset of a Banach space. Applications of the newly developed fixed point theorems are also discussed for proving the existence of positive eigenvalues and surjectivity of quasibounded operators in similar situations. The main condition in our results is formulated in terms of axiomatic measures of weak noncompactness.     

Scalar Derivatives in Hilbert Spaces

Computational formulae for scalar derivatives of mappings and pairs of mappings in the direction of a set will be given. These formulae are very important for explicitly verifying conditions of existence for fixed point theorems, surjectivity theorems, integral equations, variational inequalities and complementarity problems under additional differentiability conditions. To emphasize this idea at the end of the paper we give an application to complementarity problems. Some theorems which extend the correspondence between monotone mappings and scalar derivatives from Euclidean spaces to Hilbert spaces will also be given.

A surjectivity theorem for differential operators on spaces of regular functions

In this article we show that it is possible to construct a Koszul-type complex for maps given by suitable pairwise commuting matrices of polynomials. This result has applications to surjectivity theorems for constant coefficients differential operators of finite and infinite order. In particular, we construct a large class of constant coefficients differential operators which are surjective on the space of regular (or monogenic) functions on open convex sets.     

Existence of solutions and periodic solutions for nonlinear evolution inclusions

In this paper we consider nonlinear-dependent systems with multivalued perturbations in the framework of an evolution triple of spaces. First we prove a surjectivity result for generalized pseudomonotone operators and then we establish two existence theorems: the first for a periodic problem and the second for a Cauchy problem. As applications we work out in detail a periodic nonlinear parabolic partial differential equation and an optimal control problem for a system driven by a nonlinear parabolic equation.     

Morse theory of the moment map for representations of quivers

The results of this paper concern the Morse theory of the norm-square of the moment map on the space of representations of a quiver. We show that the gradient flow of this function converges, and that the Morse stratification induced by the gradient flow co-incides with the Harder–Narasimhan stratification from algebraic geometry. Moreover, the limit of the gradient flow is isomorphic to the graded object of the Harder–Narasimhan–Jordan–Hölder filtration associated to the initial conditions for the flow. With a view towards applications to Nakajima quiver varieties we construct explicit local co-ordinates around the Morse strata and (under a technical hypothesis on the stability parameter) describe the negative normal space to the critical sets. Finally, we observe that the usual Kirwan surjectivity theorems in rational cohomology and integral K-theory carry over to this non-compact setting, and that these theorems generalize to certain equivariant contexts.     

Subvarieties of generic hypersurfaces in a nonsingular projective toric variety

We investigate the subvarieties contained in generic hypersurfaces of projective toric varieties and prove two main theorems. The first generalizes Clemens’ famous theorem on the genus of curves in hypersurfaces of projective spaces to curves in hypersurfaces of toric varieties and the second improves the bound in the special case of toric varieties in a theorem of Ein on the positivity of subvarieties contained in sufficiently ample generic hypersurfaces of projective varieties. Both depend on a hypothesis which deals with the surjectivity of multiplication maps of sections of line bundles on the toric variety. We also obtain an infinitesimal Torelli theorem for hypersurfaces of toric varieties.
