The modular group algebras of p-groups of maximal class II

The modular isomorphism problem is settled for 3-groups of maximal class but two families of groups. Moreover, the conjecture that the ideals belonging to the lower central series of a group base are determined by the structure of the group algebra is refuted in greatest generality by virtue of a single group of order 81 of maximal class, and it is proved that the nilpotency class is determined by the structure of the group algebra for p-groups of maximal class.     

On the endomorphisms of translation modules of polynomials

We determine the structure of a ring of endomorphisms of a translation module whose structure is determined by a group of translations of an affine space that acts by means of displacement on a polynomial algebra.     

The structure of generalized inverse semigroups

We prove that the structure of right generalized inverse semigroups is determined by free étale actions of inverse semigroups. This leads to a tensor product interpretation of Yamada’s classical structure theorem for generalized inverse semigroups.     

On the automorphism group of inversive planes of odd order

The structure of the fix bundle free automorphism groups of inversive planes of odd order is determined. As a special case of our main result, the automorphism groups with a transitive action on the points of an inversive plane of odd order are essentially determined, and the plane is shown to be miquelian when these have no non-trivial normal subgroups of odd order.

We show that the geometric structure of an arbitrarily curved Riemannian space is locally determined by a deformed group of its diffeomorphisms.     

The kernel of a patent licensing game: The optimal number of licensees

This paper considers general bargaining outcomes under coalition structures formed by an external patent holder and firms in oligopoly markets, where a coalition structure is eventually determined by the patent holder. Our main proposition is that, for each permissible coalition structure, the kernel is a singleton; thus, the number of licensees that maximizes the patent holder’s revenue can be determined with the kernel. Specifying the upper and lower bounds of the kernel for each coalition structure, we also provide the sufficient conditions for the integer that maximizes the licensees’ total surplus to be the optimal number of licensees for the patent holder. The numerical comparison of the bargaining outcomes to those obtained by non-cooperative licensing by means of fee through take-it-or-leave-it offers is provided for a cost-reducing innovation in a linear Cournot market. Regardless of the ways of licensing, the producer surplus is maximized when the magnitude of cost reduction is large.     

Exterior Differential Systems Prolongations and Application to a Study of Two Nonlinear Partial Differential Equations

A generalized Korteweg-de Vries equation is formulated as an exterior differential system, which is used to determine the prolongation structure of the equation. The prolongation structure is obtained for several cases of the variable powers, and nontrivial algebras are determined. The analysis is extended to a differential system which gives the Camassa-Holm equation as a particular case. The subject of conservation laws is briefly discussed for each of the equations. A Bäcklund transformation is determined using one of the prolongations.     

Effect of production technology upon the supramolecular structure of crystalline polymers

The supramolecular structure and some other properties (density, microhardness) of high-density polyethylene and polycaprolactam specimens, molded under various conditions and aged for periods up to five months, have been studied.The change in the nature of the supramolecular structure and properties of the tested materials was determined in relation to molding conditions and aging time. Analysis of the three-dimensional TGS crystal spatial inhomogeneity of the fractal structure

The new analysis of fractal spatial inhomogeneity of the fractal structure imitating evolution of fractal dimension during three-dimensional TGS crystal growth is provided. A final crystal structure was scanned layer-by-layer using X-ray tomography. Two-dimensional images were gradually imposed in order to calculate capacity fractal dimension. The spatio-temporal aspects of crystal growth were revealed by wavelet analysis and the main growth phases were determined.     

Isomorphisms Between Groups of Homeomorphisms

We give simple conditions which ensure that the topological structure of a manifold is completely determined by a group of homeomorphisms. The reasonings are still valid in the smooth category.     

The structure of regular disjoint groups of real homeomorphisms

The structure of disjoint iteration groups of real homeomorphisms has been determined by M. C. Zdun without any regularity condition. In this paper we turn to the regular case and describe the structure of regular disjoint groups of real homeomorphisms which are generalizations of regular disjoint iteration groups. It is shown that such a group is either embedded in a regular iteration group, or it is homeomorphically conjugate to a regular piecewise linear disjoint group.     

Concerning the investigation of the supermolecular structure of polymers with a three-dimensional network

The results of an investigation of the structure and properties of a series of crosslinked polymers are presented. The eigen-structure of the Jacobian in multi-class Lighthill-Whitham-Richards traffic flow models

Characteristic-based High Resolution Shock Capturing schemes for hyperbolic systems of conservation laws require, in their basic design structure, knowledge on the complete eigen-decomposition of the Jacobian matrix of the system. For the Multi-Class Lighthill-Witham-Richards (MCLWR) Traffic flow model considered in [4], there is no explicit formula for the eigenvalues of the Jacobian matrix, which can only be determined numerically. However, once they are determined, the eigen-vectors are easily computed and straightforward formulas can be obtained by exploiting the specific structure of the Jacobian matrix in these models.
