The ability of MP2, B3PW91 and PBE0 methods to produce reliable predictions in structural and spectroscopic properties of small selenium-halogen molecules and cations has been demonstrated by using 6-311G(d) and cc-pVTZ basis sets. Optimized structures and vibrational frequencies agree closely with the experimental information, where available. Raman intensities are also well reproduced at all levels of theory. Calculated GIAO isotropic shielding tensors yield a reasonable linear correlation with the experimental chemical shift data at each level of theory. The largest deviations between calculated and experimental chemical shifts are found for selenium-iodine species. The agreement between observed and calculated chemical shifts for selenium-iodine species can be improved by inclusion of relativistic effects using the ZORA method. The best results are achieved by adding spin-orbit correction terms from ZORA calculations to nonrelativistic GIAO isotropic shielding tensors. The calculated isotropic shielding tensors can be utilized in the spectroscopic assignment of the 77Se chemical shifts of novel selenium-halogen molecules and cations. The experimental FT-Raman spectra of (SeI3)[AsF6] in the solid state and in SO2(l) solution are also reported.  相似文献

Despite the widespread use of boronic acids in materials science and as pharmaceutical agents, many aspects of their structure and reactivity are not well understood. In this research the boronic acid dimer, [HB(OH)(2)](2), was studied by second-order M?ller-Plesset (MP2) perturbation theory and coupled cluster methodology with single and double excitations (CCSD). Pople split-valence 6-31+G*, 6-311G**, and 6-311++G** and Dunning-Woon correlation-consistent cc-pVDZ, aug-cc-pVDZ, cc-pVTZ, and aug-cc-pVTZ basis sets were employed for the calculations. A doubly hydrogen-bonded conformer (1) of the dimer was consistently found to be lowest in energy; the structure of 1 was planar (C(2h)) at most computational levels employed but was significantly nonplanar (C(2)) at the MP2/6-311++G** and CCSD/6-311++G** levels, the result of an intrinsic problem with Pople-type sp-diffuse basis functions on heavy atoms. The dimerization energy, enthalpy, and free energy for the formation of (1) from the exo-endo conformer of the monomer were -10.8, -9.2, and +1.2 kcal/mol, respectively, at the MP2/aug-cc-pVTZ level. Several other hydrogen-bonded conformers of the dimer were local minima on the potential energy surface (PES) and ranged from 2 to 5 kcal/mol higher in energy than 1. Nine doubly OH-bridged conformers, in which the boron atoms were tetracoordinated, were also local minima on the PES, but they were all greater than 13 kcal/mol higher in energy than 1; doubly H-bridged structures proved to be transition states. MP2 and CCSD results were compared to those from the BLYP, B3LYP, OLYP, O3LYP, PBE1PBE, and TPSS functionals with the 6-311++G** and aug-cc-pVTZ basis sets; the PBE1PBE functional performed best relative to the MP2 and CCSD results. Self-consistent reaction field (SCRF) calculations predict that boronic acid dimerization is less favorable in solution than in vacuo.  相似文献

We have investigated, using two-component relativistic density functional theory (DFT) at ZORA-SO-BP86 and ZORA-SO-PBE0 level, the occurrence of relativistic effects on the 1H, 13C, and 15N NMR chemical shifts of 1-methylpyridinium halides [MP][X] and 1-butyl-3-methylpyridinium trihalides [BMP][X3] ionic liquids (ILs) (X=Cl, Br, I) as a result of a non-covalent interaction with the heavy anions. Our results indicate a sizeable deshielding effect in ion pairs when the anion is I and I3. A smaller, though nonzero, effect is observed also with bromine while chlorine based anions do not produce an appreciable relativistic shift. The chemical shift of the carbon atoms of the aromatic ring shows an inverse halogen dependence that has been rationalized based on the little C-2s orbital contribution to the σ-type interaction between the cation and anion. This is the first detailed account and systematic theoretical investigation of a relativistic heavy atom effect on the NMR chemical shifts of light atoms in the absence of covalent bonds. Our work paves the way and suggests the direction for an experimental investigation of such elusive signatures of ion pairing in ILs.  相似文献

The ‘Normal Halogen Dependence’ of 13C NMR chemical shifts in the series of halogenomethanes is revisited at the four‐component relativistic level. Calculations of 13C NMR chemical shifts of 70 halogenomethanes have been carried out at the density functional theory (DFT) and MP2 levels with taking into account relativistic effects using the four‐component relativistic theory of Dirac‐Coulomb within the different computational methods (4RPA, 4OPW91) and hybrid computational schemes (MP2 + 4RPA, MP2 + 4OPW91). The most efficient computational protocols are derived for practical purposes. Relativistic shielding effect reaches as much as several hundreds of ppm for heavy halogenomethanes, and to account for this effect in comparison with experiment at the qualitative level, relativistic Dyall's basis sets of triple‐zeta quality or higher are to be used within the framework of the four‐component relativistic theory taking into account solvent effects. Relativistic geometrical optimization (as compared with the non‐relativistic level) is essential for the molecules containing at least two iodines at one carbon atom. The main factors affecting the accuracy and computational cost of the calculation of 31P NMR chemical shifts in the representative series of organophosphorous compounds are examined at the density functional theory (DFT) and second‐order Møller–Plesset perturbation theory (MP2) levels. At the DFT level, the best functionals for the calculation of 31P NMR chemical shifts are those of Keal and Tozer, KT2 and KT3. Both at the DFT and MP2 levels, the most reliable basis sets are those of Jensen, pcS‐2 or larger, and those of Pople, 6‐311G(d,p) or larger. The reliable basis sets of Dunning's family are those of at least penta‐zeta quality that precludes their practical consideration. An encouraging finding is that basically, the locally dense basis set approach resulting in a dramatic decrease in computational cost is justified in the calculation of 31P NMR chemical shifts within the 1–2‐ppm error. Relativistic corrections to 31P NMR absolute shielding constants are of major importance reaching about 20–30 ppm (ca 7%) improving (not worsening!) the agreement of calculation with experiment. Further better agreement with the experiment by 1–2 ppm can be obtained by taking into account solvent effects within the integral equation formalism polarizable continuum model solvation scheme. We recommend the GIAO‐DFT‐KT2/pcS‐3//pcS‐2 scheme with relativistic corrections and solvent effects taken into account as the most versatile computational scheme for the calculation of 31P NMR chemical shifts characterized by a mean absolute error of ca 9 ppm in the range of 550 ppm. We have calculated the intermolecular interaction potentials of the silane dimer at the D3d conformation using the Hartree-Fock (HF) self-consistent theory, the correlation-corrected second-order M?ller-Plesset (MP2) perturbation theory, and the density functional theory (DFT) with 108 functionals chosen from the combinations of 9 exchange and 12 correlation functionals. Single-point coupled cluster [CCSD(T)] calculations have also been carried out to calibrate the correlation effect. The HF calculations yield unbound potentials largely because of the exchange-repulsion interaction. In the MP2 calculations, the basis set effects on the repulsion exponent, the equilibrium bond length, the binding energy, and the asymptotic behavior of the calculated intermolecular potentials have been thoroughly studied. We have employed basis sets from the Slater type orbitals fitted with Gaussian functions (STO-nG, n = 3 approximately 6), Pople's medium size basis sets [up to 6-311++G(3df,3pd)], to Dunning's correlation consistent basis sets (cc-pVXZ and aug-cc-pVXZ, X = D, T, Q). With increasing basis size, the repulsion exponent and the equilibrium bond length converge at the 6-31G** basis set and the 6-311++G(3d,3p) basis set, respectively, while a large basis set (aug-cc-pVTZ) is required to converge the binding energy at a chemical accuracy ( approximately 0.05 kcal/mol). Up to the largest basis set used, the asymptotic dispersion coefficient has not converged to the expected C6 value from molecular polarizability calculations. We attribute the slow convergence partly to the inefficacy of using the MP2 calculations with Gaussian type functions to model the asymptotic behavior. Both the basis set superposition error (BSSE) corrected and uncorrected results are presented to emphasize the importance of including such corrections. Only the BSSE corrected results systematically converge to the expected potential curve with increasing basis size. The DFT calculations generate a wide range of interaction patterns, from purely unbound to strongly bound, underestimating or overestimating the binding energy. The binding energies calculated using the OPTXHCTH147, PBEVP86, PBEP86, PW91TPSS, PW91PBE, and PW91PW91 functionals and the equilibrium bond lengths calculated using the MPWHCTH93, TPSSHCTH, PBEVP86, PBEP86, PW91TPSS, PW91PBE, and PW91PW91 functionals are close to the MP2 results using the 6-311++G(3df,3pd) basis set. A correlation between the calculated DFT potentials and the exchange and correlation enhancement factors at the low-density region has been elucidated. The asymptotic behaviors of the DFT potentials are also analyzed.  相似文献

Structures of selected 3,6‐dihalogeno‐N‐alkyl carbazole derivatives were calculated at the B3LYP/6‐311++G(3df,2pd) level of theory, and their 13C nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) isotropic shieldings were predicted using density functional theory (DFT). The model compounds contained 9H, N‐methyl and N‐ethyl derivatives. The relativistic effect of Br and I atoms on nuclear shieldings was modeled using the spin–orbit zeroth‐order regular approximation (ZORA) method. Significant heavy atom shielding effects for the carbon atom directly bonded with Br and I were observed (~?10 and ~?30 ppm while the other carbon shifts were practically unaffected). The decreasing electronegativity of the halogen substituent (F, Cl, Br, and I) was reflected in both nonrelativistic and relativistic NMR results as decreased values of chemical shifts of carbon atoms attached to halogen (C3 and C6) leading to a strong sensitivity to halogen atom type at 3 and 6 positions of the carbazole ring. The predicted NMR data correctly reproduce the available experimental data for unsubstituted N‐alkylcarbazoles. Copyright © 2013 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Calculations of the phosphorus NMR chemical shielding in 5-coordinate phosphorus compounds have been carried out using the gauge-including-atomic-orbital (GIAO) 6-311+G(nd,p) basis set at both scaled density functional theory (sDFT) and estimated infinite order Møller–Plesset (EMPI) approaches. Results are generally in accord with previous studies on 3-coordinate phosphorus compounds but fail badly for compounds containing multiple chlorine atoms and indicate a need for a relativistic treatment of these species. We observe that some compounds with reported experimental 31P NMR chemical shifts far downfield of the calculated values are in fact in the range known from experiment and calculation to be in that expected for phosphonium ions; the reported structures need to be reconsidered.  相似文献

A series of model tertiary amines were oxidized in situ in an NMR tube to amine N-oxides and their (1)H and (13)C NMR spectra were recorded. Next, the chemical shifts induced by oxidation (Δδ) were calculated using different GIAO methods investigating the influence of the method [Hartree-Fock (HF), Moeller-Plesset perturbation, density functional theory (DFT)], the functional applied in the DFT (B3LYP, BPW, OPBE, OPW91) and the basis set used [6-31G*, 6-311G**, 6-311 + + G** and 6-311 + + G(3df,3pd)]. The best results were obtained with the HF/6-311 + + G** and OPBE/6-311 + + G** methods. The computation/experiment comparison approach was used for the configuration prediction of chiral amine N-oxides-(R) and (S)-agroclavine-6-N-oxide.  相似文献

1H and 13C chemical shifts of PVC chains have been evaluated using quantum chemistry methods in order to evidence and interpret the NMR signatures of chains bearing unsaturated and branched defects. The geometrical structures of the stable conformers have been determined using molecular mechanics and the OPLS force field and then density functional theory with the B3LYP functional and the 6-311G(d) basis set. The nuclear shielding tensor has been calculated at the coupled-perturbed Kohn-Sham level (B3LYP exchange-correlation functional) using the 6-311+G(2d,p) basis set. The computational scheme accounts for the large number of stable conformers of the PVC chains, and average chemical shifts are evaluated using the Maxwell-Boltzmann distribution. Moreover, the chemical shifts are corrected for the inherent and rather systematic errors of the method of calculation by employing linear regression equations, which have been deduced from comparing experimental and theoretical results on small alkane model compounds containing Cl atoms and/or unsaturations. For each type of defect, PVC segments presenting different tacticities have been considered because it is known from linear PVC chains that the racemic (meso) dyads are characterized by larger (smaller) chemical shifts. NMR signatures of unsaturations in PVC chains have been highlighted for the internal -CH=CH- and -CH=CCl- units as well as for terminal unsaturations like the chloroallylic -CH=CH-CH2Cl group. In particular, the 13C chemical shifts of the two sp2 C atoms are very close for the chloroallylic end group. The CH2 and CHCl units surrounding an unsaturation present also specific 13C chemical shifts, which allow distinguishing them from the others. In the case of the proton, the CH2 unit of the -CHCl-CH2-CCl=CH- segment presents a larger chemical shift (2.6-2.7 ppm), while some CHCl units close to the -CH=CH- unsaturations appear at rather small chemical shifts (3.7 ppm). The -CH2Cl and -CHCl-CH2Cl branches also display specific signatures, which result in large part from modifications of the equilibrium conformations and their reduced number owing to the increased steric interactions. These branches lead to the appearance of 13C peaks at lower field associated either to the CH unit linking the -CH2Cl and -CHCl-CH2Cl branches (50 ppm) or to the CHCl unit of the ethyl branches (60 ppm). The corresponding protons resonate also at specific frequencies: 3.5-4.0 ppm for the -CH2Cl branch or 3.8-4.2 ppm for the terminal unit of the -CHCl-CH2Cl branch. Several of these signatures have been detected in the experimental 1H and 13C NMR spectra and are consistent with the reaction mechanisms.  相似文献

Anharmonic vibrational frequency shifts of the phenol(+) O-H stretching mode upon complex formation with the open-shell ligand O(2) were computed at several DFT and MP2 levels of theory, with various basis sets, up to 6-311++G(2df,2pd). It was found that all DFT levels of theory significantly outperform the MP2 method with this respect. The best agreement with the experimental frequency shift for the hydrogen-bonded minimum on the potential energy surfaces was obtained with the HCTH/407 functional (-93.7 cm(-1) theoretical vs -86 cm(-1) experimental), which is a significant improvement over other, more standard DFT functionals (such as, e.g., B3LYP, PBE1PBE), which predict too large downshifts (-139.9 and -147.7 cm(-1), respectively). Good agreement with the experiment was also obtained with the mPW1B95 functional proposed by Truhlar et al. (-109.2 cm(-1)). We have attributed this trend due to the corrected long-range behavior of the HCTH/407 and mPW1B95 functionals, despite the fact that they have been designed primarily for other purposes. MP2 method, even with the largest basis set used, manages to reproduce only less than 50% of the experimentally detected frequency downshift for the hydrogen-bonded dimer. This was attributed to the much more significant spin contamination of the reference HF wave function (compared to DFT Kohn-Sham wave functions), which was found to be strongly dependent on the O-H stretching vibrational coordinate. All DFT levels of theory outperform MP2 in the case of computed anharmonic OH stretching frequency shifts upon ionization of the neutral phenol molecule as well. Besides the hydrogen-bonded minimum, DFT levels of theory also predict existence of two other minima, corresponding to stacked arrangement of the phenol(+) and O(2) subunits. mPW1B95 and PBE1PBE functionals predict a very slight blue shift of the phenol(+) O-H stretching mode in the case of stacked dimer with the nearly perpendicular orientation of oxygen molecule with respect to the phenolic ring, which is entirely of electrostatic origin, in agreement with the experimental observations of an additional band in the IR photodissociation spectra of phenol(+)-O(2) dimer [Patzer, A.; Knorke, H.; Langer, J.; Dopfer, O. Chem. Phys. Lett. 2008, 457, 298]. The structural features of the minima on the studied PESs were discussed in details as well, on the basis of NBO and AIM analyses.  相似文献

A convenient methodology was developed for a very accurate calculation of 13C NMR chemical shifts of the title compounds. GIAO calculations with density functional methods (B3LYP, B3PW91, PBE1PBE) and 6-311+G(2d,p) basis set predict experimental chemical shifts of 3-ethynylcyclopropene (1), 1-ethynylcyclopropane (2) and 1,1-diethynylcyclopropane (3) with high accuracy of 1–2 ppm. The present article describes in detail the effect of geometry choice, density functional method, basis set and effect of solvent on the accuracy of GIAO calculations of 13C NMR chemical shifts. In addition, the particular dependencies of 13C chemical shifts on the geometry of cyclopropane ring were investigated.  相似文献

The direct molecular structure implementations of the gage-including atomic orbital (GIAO), individual gages for atoms in molecules (IGAIM) and continuous set of gage transformations (CSGT) methods for calculating nuclear magnetic shielding tensors at both the Hartree-Fock (HF) and density functional (B3LYP) levels of theory with 6-31G(d), 6-311G(d), 6-31++G(d,p), 6-311++G(d,p), and 6-311++G(df,pd) basis sets are presented. Dependence on the 1H and 13C NMR chemical shifts on the choice of method and basis set have been investigated. Also, these chemical shifts of 2-aryl-1,3,4-oxadiazoles 5a–g have been performed related to dihedral angles (C4–C3–C2–O) of two conformers. The optimized molecular geometries and 1H and 13C chemical shift values of 2-aryl-1,3,4-oxadiazoles 5a–g in the ground state have been obtained. The linear correlation coefficients of 13C NMR chemical shifts for these molecules were given. The new nuclear magnetic shielding tensors of tetramethylsilane (TMS) were calculated. The data of 2-aryl-1,3,4-oxadiazole derivatives display significant molecular structure and NMR analysis. Also, these provide the basis for future design of efficient materials having the 1,3,4-oxadiazole core.  相似文献

The structural and electronic properties of berberine and berberrubine have been studied extensively using density functional theory (DFT) employing B3LYP exchange correlation. The geometries of these molecules have been fully optimized at the B3LYP/6-311G** level. The chemical shift of 1H and 13C resonances in NMR spectra of these molecules have been calculated using the gauge invariant atomic model (GIAO) method as implemented in Gaussian 98. One- and two-dimensional HSQC (1H-13C), HMBC (1H-13C) and ROESY (1H-1H) spectra were recorded at 500 MHz for the berberine molecule in D(2)O solution. All proton and carbon resonances were unambiguously assigned, and inter-proton distances obtained from ten observed NOE contacts. A restrained molecular dynamics (RMD) approach was used to get the optimized solution structure of berberine. The structure of berberine and berberrubine molecules was also obtained using the ROESY data available in literature. Comparison of the calculated NMR chemical shifts with the experimental values revealed that DFT methods produce very good results for both proton and carbon chemical shifts. The importance of the basis sets to the calculated NMR parameters is discussed. It has been found that calculated structure and chemical shifts in the gas phase predicted with B3LYP/6-311G** are in very good agreement with the present experimental data and the measured values reported earlier.  相似文献

Boronic acids are widely used in materials science, pharmacology, and the synthesis of biologically active compounds. In this Article, geometrical structures and relative energies of dimers of boroglycine, H2N-CH2-B(OH)2, and its constitutional isomer H3C-NH-B(OH)2, were computed using second-order M?ller-Plesset perturbation theory and density functional theory; Dunning-Woon correlation-consistent cc-pVDZ, aug-cc-pVDZ, cc-pVTZ, and aug-cc-pVTZ basis sets were employed for the MP2 calculations, and the Pople 6-311++G(d,p) basis set was employed for a majority of the DFT calculations. Effects of an aqueous environment were incorporated into the results using PCM and COSMO-RS methodology. The lowest-energy conformer of the H2N-CH2-B(OH)2 dimer was a six-membered ring structure (chair conformation; Ci symmetry) with two intermolecular B:N dative-bonds; it was 14.0 kcal/mol lower in energy at the MP2/aug-cc-pVDZ computational level than a conformer with the classic eight-centered ring structure (Ci symmetry) in which the boroglycine monomers are linked by a pair of H-O...H bonds. Compared to the results of MP2 calculations with correlation-consistent basis sets, DFT calculations using the PBE1PBE and TPSS functionals with the 6-311++G(d,p) basis set were significantly better at predicting relative conformational energies of the H2N-CH2-B(OH)2 and H3C-NH-B(OH)2 dimers than corresponding calculations using the BLYP, B3LYP, OLYP, and O3LYP functionals, particularly with respect to dative-bonded structures.  相似文献

The experimental (1)H, (13)C NMR spectra of 3,3-dimethoxy-1-(imidazolidin-2-ylidene)propan-2-one were recorded in CDCl(3) at temperature range 213-323 K. The variable temperature spectra revealed a dynamic NMR effect which is attributed to restricted rotation around the C=C double bond. Fast exchange processes of deuterium atoms between CDCl(3) and 3,3-dimethoxy-1-(imidazolidin-2-ylidene)propan-2-one or fast exchange of proton between nitrogen and oxygen atoms of carbonyl group is also revealed by broadening of N-H (singlet) proton NMR signals. Proton and carbon theoretical chemical shifts of the title molecule were calculated by using RHF and MP2-GIAO levels and different basis sets in gas phase at 298 K. The calculated proton chemical shifts show that the experimental values have no agreement with theoretical values, but for carbon chemical shifts a good agreement achieved by using RHF with 6-31G basis set and MP2/3-21G, 6-31G basis sets. Discrepancies are attributed to either the limitations of calculating program, because the change of the structure while rotation are not considered. The results showed that to select of basis set has more important rule, because RHF-GIAO level calculation with 6-31G basis set in gas phase can excellently reproduce the (13)C NMR spectrum. Moreover, MP2/3-21G, 6-31G calculation has not significant influence on (13)C NMR chemical shifts with respect to RHF-6-31G.  相似文献

The molecular geometry has been optimized without any constraints using different basis sets and levels of theory as: Hartree-Fock with basis sets 6–31+G**, 6–311++G**, cc-pVTZ and aug-cc-pVTZ, MP2 with basis sets 6–311++G** and cc-pVTZ, MP3 with basis set 6–311++G**, and density functional theory with basis sets 6–311++G** and cc-pVTZ. Small basis sets up to 6-31G predict the syn conformation of the methyl group to be the most stable conformation. Larger basis sets predict an unsymmetrical conformation with one of the H atoms perpendicular to the amide skeleton or an anti-like conformation. Dunnings correlation consistent polarized valence triple zeta, cc-pVTZ, basis set including MP2 predict two conformations, one perpendicular and one anti to be the most stable. The DFT calculations predict anti-like conformations. The most accurate calculations predict anti-like conformations which have not been predicted previously. The vibrational frequencies have been calculated for several basis sets and compared to the observed frequencies. The wagging frequency of the NH2 is very dependent on the basis sets and levels of theory. Most calculations predict a planar NH2 group in agreement with experiment. A scaled molecular force field has been determined by fitting the calculated frequencies to the observed ones for the perpendicular conformation using MP2/cc-pVTZ. The barrier heights for the methyl group have been calculated. The rotational constants, IA + IBIC values and dipole moments are compared with experimental values.  相似文献

Structures of superelectrophilic protonated propenoyl (H2C=CH-COH2+) and isopentenoyl ((CH3)2C=CH-COH2+) dications and their parent cations were calculated using ab initio methods at the MP2/6-311+G and MP2/cc-pVTZ levels. Energies were calculated using Gaussian-2 (G2) theory. The alpha-carbon (Calpha) protonated 3 and 7 were found to be the global minima for protonated propenoyl and isopentenoyl dications, respectively. 13C NMR chemical shifts of the cations were also calculated using the GIAO-CCSD(T), GIAO-MP2 and GIAO-SCF methods. 13C NMR chemical shifts of the related tert-butyl cation ((CH3)3C+) and protonated tert-butyl dication ((CH3)2CCH4(2+)) were also computed at the same level to compare and explore the effect of the additional charge in dications.  相似文献
