The subject of this paper is the inexact proximal point algorithm of usual and Halpern type in non-positive curvature metric spaces. We study the convergence of the sequences given by the inexact proximal point algorithm with non-summable errors. We also prove the strong convergence of the Halpern proximal point algorithm to a minimum point of the convex function. The results extend several results in Hilbert spaces, Hadamard manifolds and non-positive curvature metric spaces.  相似文献

Forcing strong convergence of proximal point iterations in a Hilbert space   总被引:1,自引:1,他引:0  
This paper concerns with convergence properties of the classical proximal point algorithm for finding zeroes of maximal monotone operators in an infinite-dimensional Hilbert space. It is well known that the proximal point algorithm converges weakly to a solution under very mild assumptions. However, it was shown by Güler [11] that the iterates may fail to converge strongly in the infinite-dimensional case. We propose a new proximal-type algorithm which does converge strongly, provided the problem has a solution. Moreover, our algorithm solves proximal point subproblems inexactly, with a constructive stopping criterion introduced in [31]. Strong convergence is forced by combining proximal point iterations with simple projection steps onto intersection of two halfspaces containing the solution set. Additional cost of this extra projection step is essentially negligible since it amounts, at most, to solving a linear system of two equations in two unknowns. The proximal point algorithm, which is a well-known tool for finding minima of convex functions, is generalized from the classical Hilbert space framework into a nonlinear setting, namely, geodesic metric spaces of non-positive curvature. We prove that the sequence generated by the proximal point algorithm weakly converges to a minimizer, and also discuss a related question: convergence of the gradient flow.  相似文献

We propose a modification of the classical extragradient and proximal point algorithms for finding a zero of a maximal monotone operator in a Hilbert space. At each iteration of the method, an approximate extragradient-type step is performed using information obtained from an approximate solution of a proximal point subproblem. The algorithm is of a hybrid type, as it combines steps of the extragradient and proximal methods. Furthermore, the algorithm uses elements in the enlargement (proposed by Burachik, Iusem and Svaiter) of the operator defining the problem. One of the important features of our approach is that it allows significant relaxation of tolerance requirements imposed on the solution of proximal point subproblems. This yields a more practical proximal-algorithm-based framework. Weak global convergence and local linear rate of convergence are established under suitable assumptions. It is further demonstrated that the modified forward-backward splitting algorithm of Tseng falls within the presented general framework.  相似文献

In this paper, an estimate of convergence rate concerned with an inexact proximal point algorithm for the singularity of maximal monotone vector fields on Hadamard manifolds is discussed. We introduce a weaker growth condition, which is an extension of that of Luque from Euclidean spaces to Hadamard manifolds. Under the growth condition, we prove that the inexact proximal point algorithm has linear/superlinear convergence rate. The main results presented in this paper generalize and improve some corresponding known results.  相似文献

In this paper, we obtain some results on the boundedness and asymptotic behavior of the sequence generated by the proximal point algorithm without summability assumption on the error sequence. We also study the rate of convergence to minimum value of a proper, convex, and lower semicontinuous function. In this paper, we introduce the notion of a weak sharp set of solutions to a variational inequality problem (VIP) in a reflexive, strictly convex and smooth Banach space, and present its several equivalent conditions. We also prove, under some continuity and monotonicity assumptions, that if any sequence generated by an algorithm for solving (VIP) converges to a weak sharp solution, then we can obtain solutions for (VIP) by solving a finite number of convex optimization subproblems with linear objective. Moreover, in order to characterize finite convergence of an iterative algorithm, we introduce the notion of a weak subsharp set of solutions to a variational inequality problem (VIP), which is more general than that of weak sharp solutions in Hilbert spaces. We establish a sufficient and necessary condition for the finite convergence of an algorithm for solving (VIP) which satisfies that the sequence generated by which converges to a weak subsharp solution of (VIP), and show that the proximal point algorithm satisfies this condition. As a consequence, we prove that the proximal point algorithm possesses finite convergence whenever the sequence generated by which converges to a weak subsharp solution of (VIP).  相似文献

In this paper, a projection-proximal point method for solving a class of generalized variational inequalities is considered in Hilbert spaces. We investigate a general iterative algorithm, which consists of an inexact proximal point step followed by a suitable orthogonal projection onto a hyperplane. We prove the convergence of the algorithm for a pseudomonotone mapping with weakly upper semicontinuity and weakly compact and convex values. We also analyze the convergence rate of the iterative sequence under some suitable conditions.  相似文献

Ha (Ref. 1) recently introduced a generalized proximal point algorithm for solving a generalized equation. In this note, we present a generalized proximal point algorithm for convex optimization problems based on Ha's work. The idea behind this algorithm is that, instead of adding a quadratic term to all the variables, we add a quadratic term to a subset of the variables. We extend the criteria for approximate solutions given by Rockafellar (Ref. 2) and Auslender (Ref. 3) and present convergence results. Finally, we show how this algorithm can be applied to solve block-angular linear and quadratic programming problems.  相似文献

We consider a proximal point algorithm(PPA) for solving monotone variational inequalities. PPA generates a sequence by solving a sequence of strongly monotone subproblems .However,solving the subproblems is either expensive or impossible. Some inexact proximal point algorithms(IPPA) have been developed in many literatures. In this paper, we present a criterion for approximately solving subproblems. It only needs one simple additional work on the basis of original algorithm, and the convergence criterion becomes milder. We show that this method converges globally under new criterion provided that the solution set of the problem is nonempty.  相似文献

An interior proximal point algorithm for finding a solution of a linear program is presented. The distinguishing feature of this algorithm is the addition of a quadratic proximal term to the linear objective function. This perturbation has allowed us to obtain solutions with better feasibility. Implementation of this algorithm shows that the algorithms. We propose a proximal Newton method for solving nondifferentiable convex optimization. This method combines the generalized Newton method with Rockafellar’s proximal point algorithm. At each step, the proximal point is found approximately and the regularization matrix is preconditioned to overcome inexactness of this approximation. We show that such a preconditioning is possible within some accuracy and the second-order differentiability properties of the Moreau-Yosida regularization are invariant with respect to this preconditioning. Based upon these, superlinear convergence is established under a semismoothness condition. This work is supported by the Australian Research Council.  相似文献

In this paper, the proximal point algorithm for quasi-convex minimization problem in nonpositive curvature metric spaces is studied. We prove Δ-convergence of the generated sequence to a critical point (which is defined in the text) of an objective quasi-convex, proper and lower semicontinuous function with at least a minimum point as well as some strong convergence results to a minimum point with some additional conditions. A primal-dual version of the proximal point algorithm is developed for linearly constrained convex programming problems. The algorithm is an iterative method to find a saddle point of the Lagrangian of the problem. At each iteration of the algorithm, we compute an approximate saddle point of the Lagrangian function augmented by quadratic proximal terms of both primal and dual variables. Specifically, we first minimize the function with respect to the primal variables and then approximately maximize the resulting function of the dual variables. The merit of this approach exists in the fact that the latter function is differentiable and the maximization of this function is subject to no constraints. We discuss convergence properties of the algorithm and report some numerical results for network flow problems with separable quadratic costs.  相似文献

Recently,an indefinite linearized augmented Lagrangian method(IL-ALM)was proposed for the convex programming problems with linear constraints.The IL-ALM differs from the linearized augmented Lagrangian method in that the augmented Lagrangian is linearized by adding an indefinite quadratic proximal term.But,it preserves the algorithmic feature of the linearized ALM and usually has the advantage to improve the performance.The IL-ALM is proved to be convergent from contraction perspective,but its convergence rate is still missing.This is mainly because that the indefinite setting destroys the structures when we directly employ the contraction frameworks.In this paper,we derive the convergence rate for this algorithm by using a different analysis.We prove that a worst-case O(1/t)convergence rate is still hold for this algorithm,where t is the number of iterations.Additionally we show that the customized proximal point algorithm can employ larger step sizes by proving its equivalence to the linearized ALM.  相似文献

We introduce a hybrid proximal point algorithm and establish its strong convergence to a common solution of a proximal point of a lower semi-continuous mapping and a fixed point of a demicontractive mapping in the framework of a CAT(0) space. As applications of our new result, we solve variational inequality problems for these mappings on a Hilbert space.
