Summary The results are given of an investigation by means of the electron microscope and electron diffraction of the morphology of amorphous aluminium hydroxide and boehmite. The ageing process of amorphous aluminium hydroxide prepared from aluminium nitrate, ammonium alum and amalgamated aluminium was studied.

The solubility diagram of the system NaAl(SO4)2–CsAl(SO4)2–H2O was investigated at 25°C. This is a system in which -and -alums participate. The fields of cristallization are outlined. There is one wide field of cesium aluminium alum and one, very narrow, of sodium aluminium alum. The eutonic point of the system lies at the composition of the liquid phase corresponding to 27.90 wt.% NaAl(SO4)2 and 0.008 wt.% CsAl(SO4)2. It was found that mixed crystals are not formed in the system. The solid phases were investigated by X-ray diffraction andDTA.

The effects of sodium chloride, sodium sulfate, and alum (aluminum sulfate) on the performance of a cationic polyacrylamide flocculant in a papermaking suspension consisting of bleached (hardwood: softwood, 50∶50) kraft wood-pulp fibres and anatase (TiO2) were investigated. Sodium chloride and sodium sulfate, 1×10?5 to 1×10?2 M, in the presence of polymer, caused negligible changes in the electrophoretic mobility of the TiO2 and in the first-pass retention of TiO2 (heteroflocculation of TiO2 and fibres). Alum at concentrations from 1×10?5 to 1×10?4 M at pH 4.0 and 4.5 increased retention with polymer; higher alum concentrations resulted in lower retentions. At pH 4.0 the electrophoretic mobility of the TiO2 was positive over the entire range of alum concentrations investigated (1×10?5?3.2×10?3 M) whereas at pH 4.5 the mobility was negative at 1×10?5 M alum and charge reversal was observed at about 4×10?5 M alum. The intrinsic viscosity of the cationic polyacrylamide was decreased by the addition of alum, sodium chloride or sodium sulfate. The effect of alum on the polymer conformation appeared to be that of the non-specific interaction of sulfate ions with a cationic polyelectrolyte. Retention results are discussed in terms of the colloidal stability of TiO2, the adsorption of polyacrylamide on TiO2 and the conformation of adsorbed polymer.  相似文献

Zusammenfassung Es wird ein neues Verfahren zur volumetrischen Bestimmung von Hydrochinon beschrieben: Man versetzt ein bekanntes Volumen Hydrochinonlösung mit überschüssiger, schwach saurer Eisen(III)-ammoniumsulfatlösung, läßt 5 min reagieren und titriert die entstandenen Eisen II)-ionen in etwa 1 n schwefelsaurer Lösung bei Zimmertemperatur mit 0,1 n oder 0,01 n Dichromatlösung gegen Bariumdiphenylaminsulfonat als Indicator.
Summary A new procedure has been reported for the volumetric estimation of hydroquinone. A known volume of hydroquinone is allowed to react for about 5 min with an excess of ferric alum in slightly acidic medium and the resultant ferrous iron is titrated in about 1 N H2SO4 at room temperature with 0.1 N or 0.01 N diehromate solution using barium diphenylamine sulphonate as indicator.

Pseudomonas aeruginosa (P. aeruginosa) causing urinary tract infections (UTIs) are a major concern among hospital-acquired infections. The need for an effective vaccine that reduces the infections is imperative. This study aims to evaluate the efficacy of a multi-epitope vaccine encapsulated in silk fibroin nanoparticles (SFNPs) against P. aeruginosa-mediated UTIs. A multi-epitope is constructed from nine proteins of P. aeruginosa using immunoinformatic analysis, expressed, and purified in BL21 (DE3) cells. The encapsulation efficiency of the multi-epitope in SFNPs is 85% with a mean particle size of 130 nm and 24% of the encapsulated antigen is released after 35 days. The vaccine formulations adjuvanted with SFNPs or alum significantly improve systemic and mucosal humoral responses and the cytokine profile (IFN-γ, IL-4, and IL-17) in mice. Additionally, the longevity of the IgG response is maintained for at least 110 days in a steady state. In a bladder challenge, mice treated with the multi-epitope admixed with alum or encapsulated in SFNPs demonstrate significant protection of the bladder and kidneys against P. aeruginosa. This study highlights the promising therapeutic potential of a multi-epitope vaccine encapsulated in SFNPs or adjuvanted with alum against P. aeruginosa infections.  相似文献

Coagulation-crossflow microfiltration of domestic wastewater   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
The effect of using alum, polyaluminum silicate sulfate (PASS), and lime as coagulants on the performance of crossflow microfiltration of domestic wastewater was investigated. The primary membrane used throughout the study was made of woven polyester, while the dynamic membrane was formed by circulating MnO2 precipitate. Slug doses of the coagulants were added to the circulation tank of the experimental setup at the beginning of each run. Doses of 20 to 120 mg/l of alum were investigated at pH of 7. The results showed an improvement in flux values with the increase in alum dose until an optimum dose beyond which no significant improvement was seen. Flux improvement was attributed to the agglomeration of particles which can be easily swept away by the shearing actions created by the crossflow velocity. Permeate quality was not found to be significantly affected by the increase in alum dose. PASS, which is an aluminum salt, was seen to behave in the same manner as alum when used as a coagulant. Lime was not found to be a suitable coagulant under these conditions.  相似文献

The title compound, diiron(III) trisulfate–sulfuric acid–water (1/1/28), has been prepared at temperatures between 235 and 239 K from acid solutions of Fe2(SO4)3. Studies of the compound at 100 and 200 K are reported. The analysis reveals the structural features of an alum, (H5O2)Fe(SO4)2·12H2O. The Fe(H2O)6 unit is located on a centre of inversion at (, 0, ), while the H5O2+ cation is located about an inversion centre at (, , ). The compound thus represents the first oxonium alum, although the unit cell is orthorhombic.  相似文献

In this study, the staining properties of selected amino acids with Brassica oleraceae extract in alum and alum-free media were investigated. Basic, acidic and neutral amino acids (arginine, glutamic acid and glycine) were used to investigate the effect of staining. It was determined that all amino acids were stained in alum media. In the second step, the R group of amino acids found in the proteins of the cell nucleus was reacted with salicyl aldehyde. This reaction was successful only with Arginine. The staining properties of the newly formed compound were also investigated in alum and alum-free environments. Evaluation of the results was done using FT-IR and 1H NMR methods. All compounds were optimized with the Gaussian G09 program (DFT/B3LYP/6.311 ?G(d.p) basic set. HOMO, LUMO and HOMO-LUMO gap values were determined. Chemical reaction capabilities of amino acids were discussed with the help of HOMO-LUMO gap values.  相似文献

The characteristic of aggregates pre-coagulated by inorganic monomer alum, polymer aluminium chlorohydrate(ACH) and polyaluminium chloride(PACl) coagulants impose major impact on the removal of humic acids (HAs) and the reduction of microfiltration (MF) membrane fouling. The fractal dimension of flocs formed by ACH and PACl is higher than that by monomer alum, indicating Keggin structure produced by polymer coagulants is much more compact compared with hexameric ring structure of alum hydrolysis species. Correspondingly, cake layer specific resistance is far higher and the MF membrane flux deteriorates much more severely when pre-coagulated by ACH and PACl than by alum. Moreover, the higher basicity contains in PACls, the cake layer fouling is more serious for producing more proportion of dense hydrolysis species Al13. Thus, the polymer coagulant ACH and PACl seems not adapt to the pre-coagulation–MF process for cake layer resistance increase two to three times although they save 60–70% dose in comparison with alum for HAs removal. Additionally, for three Al-based coagulants under sweep coagulation condition, insufficient dose result in lower HAs removal and produce more small particles caused higher cake layer specific resistance according to Carman–Kozeny relationship. On the other hand, coagulant hydrolysis species as direct contaminant loading aggravated cake resistance on the MF membrane when overdosed. The optimum dose should keep the minimum to provide better HAs removal efficiency, and produce lower cake layer specific resistance and higher membrane filterability for pre-coagulation–MF hybrid process.  相似文献

Alum is found to catalyze efficiently the one-pot, three-component condensation of aldehydes, α/β-naphthol, and dimedone to afford various 12-substituted-8,9,10,12-tetrahydrobenzoxanthen-11-ones in excellent yields. A heterogeneous distribution study with internally formed lead chromate as host and110Ag as guest indicates the existence of a new variety of lead chromate, which forms mixed crystals with silver chromate, and differs in morphology from the aged variety. It is inferred that the formation of mixed crystals is probably due to breeding of a morphologically analogous and unstable species by the guest component. By means of study of the homogeneous distribution coefficient, D, of the system consisting of KFe(SO4)2·12H2O as host and110Ag as guest, the existence of an unknown alum, AgFe(SO4)2·12H2O, in trace amounts has been demonstrated. A distribution study of the system shows that KFe(SO4)2·12H2O forms mixed crystals with110Ag up to 10°C, after which the uptake follows an adsorption pattern. The transition temperature of the guest alum, indicated by a sharp change in the D values, is found to be 10°C. Application of radioactive tracers in the study of new and unstable compounds have been stressed.  相似文献

We have developed a MUC1 antigen-based antitumor vaccine loaded on alum colloid encapsulated insideβ-glucan particles(GP-Al). The constructed vaccine induced strong MUC1 antigen specific Ig G antibody titers and enhanced CD8~+ T cells cytotoxic effect to kill tumor cells. These results indicated that GP-Al can be served as an efficient delivery system and adjuvant for the development of cancer vaccines especially small molecule antigens based cancer vaccines.  相似文献

Summary The potentiometric titration of molybdenum(V) with ferric alum has now been investigated. The results show that the potentiometric titration of molybdenum(V) is possible at 98–100 C in a carbon dioxide or other inert gas atmosphere in a medium which is 0.5 to 1.0 N in hydrochloric acid. At higher concentrations of hydrochloric acid, there is no steep jump in potential at the end point. In titrations carried out in 0.5 N hydrochloric acid, the potential jump is about 50 mv per 0.1 ml of 0.05 M ferric alum; when the hydrochloric acid concentration is increased to 1.0 N, the potential jump is about 30 mv per 0.1 ml of 0.05 molar ferric alum solution; in titrations with decinormal solutions of the reactants in 0.5 N hydrochloric acid, the potential jump at end point is about 90 mv per 0.1 ml of iron (III) solutionOne of us, Dr. M.
