ZnO crystals can be grown from alkaline aqueous solution not only by the standard hydrothermal technique at temperatures between 350 °C and 400 °C, but also by chemical bath deposition (CBD) at temperatures below 100 °C. In the presence of ZnO and ScAlMgO4 (SCAM) substrates almost all ZnO deposits on the substrate, with different habits, however. Under optimized conditions even homoepitaxial layers can be obtained, while rod-like structures are obtained on SCAM substrates. The chemistry and the driving forces behind the two processes are considered in detail and the temperature dependence of the solution composition has been calculated. The driving force for the ZnO crystal growth in the standard hydrothermal technique is the difference in the ZnO solubility in alkaline solutions at different temperatures. In contrast, the driving force for the chemical bath deposition of ZnO at low temperatures is the decay of zinc ion complex molecules with increasing temperature.  相似文献

Pure ZnO nanorods were grown from aqueous solutions at low temperature (90 °C) by hydrothermal growth technique on sapphire (0001) substrate coated with ZnO thin film. X-ray diffraction results show that these nanorods crystallize in the wurtzite structure having space group P63mc and that they are oriented along the c-axis. Raman and photo-luminescence studies show the presence of oxygen vacancies in the ZnO nanorods. The ZnO nanorods show room temperature ferromagnetism.  相似文献

Nanocrystalline ZnO nanorods were successfully grown by ultrasonication using an acidic ethanolic zinc acetate precursor solution followed by a flow coating process and annealing at 600 °C. The ZnO nanorods obtained were hexagonal in shape and showed a high degree of uniformity in size and distribution. These samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and Raman spectrophotometry and the results are discussed. This approach appears to be the easiest way to fabricate bulk ZnO nanorods.  相似文献

ZnO thin films were grown by pulsed laser deposition on titanium substrates at different substrate temperatures ranging from 300 to 700 °C. X‐ray diffraction (XRD), X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS),photoluminescence, and Raman spectroscopy are employed to investigate the change of properties. XRD, XPS, and Raman data showed that the films consisted of TiO2 at high substrate temperature, which will deteriorate the crystallization quality of ZnO films. The optimum temperature for the growth of ZnO films on the Ti substrate is about 500 °C in this paper. The ZnO films grown on titanium substrate can be used in direct current, microwave, and medical applications. Copyright © 2014 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Large-scale uniform aligned ZnO nanorods with a hexagonal tip were successfully synthesized via a facile process at low temperature of (~140 °C) without using any additives and substrate. The process is based on a simple reaction of zinc powder and de-ionized water. The results reveal that the as-prepared ZnO products have an average length of 10 μm and a diameter in the range of 50–260 nm, possessing a single crystal wurtzite structure. The structure and morphology of the ZnO products are characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM) and energy dispersive X-ray spectrometer (EDX). The possible formation mechanism of nanorods is proposed in brief. The optical properties of grown products were characterized by room-temperature. The magnetic property was tested with a vibrating sample magnetometer at room temperature and revealed a high hysteresis loop indicating a strong ferromagnetic nature of as synthesized ZnO nanorods. The yield producing nanorods with this method includes ease, flexibility, fast being low cost and ineffective on environment free.  相似文献

Effects of substrates and seed layers on solution growing ZnO nanorods   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Oriented ZnO nanorods were fabricated in a two-step approach, including the synthesis of seed layer on different substrates and the growth of ZnO nanorods in aqueous solutions of zinc nitrate and hexamethylenetetramine at low temperature. The effects of seed layer synthesized by different methods, sol–gel method and electrochemical deposition method, on the orientation and morphologies of ZnO nanorods were compared in detail. The optimal parameters for the growth of highly oriented ZnO nanorod arrays were found and the forming mechanism was also disclosed. Furthermore, as an application of the ZnO nanorod film, dye-sensitized solar cells based on it were successfully fabricated. The cell performances of ZnO nanorods grown on ED-ZnO seed layer deposited at −700 mV were higher than those with SG-ZnO seed layer due to good nanostructure.  相似文献

Highly oriented ZnO nanorod arrays with controlled diameter and length, narrow size distribution and high orientation consistency have been successfully prepared on ITO substrates at different growth temperatures by using a simple hydrothermal method. XRD results indicate that the nanorods are high-quality single crystals growing along [001] direction with a high consistent orientation perpendicular to the substrate. SEM images show that the nanorods have average diameters of about 30-70 nm by changing growth temperature. The thin films consisting of ZnO nanorods with controlled orientation onto ITO substrates allow a more efficient transport and collection of photogenerated electrons through a designed path. For a sandwich-type cell, the relatively high overall solar energy conversion efficiency reaches about 2.4% when the growth temperature is at 95 °C.  相似文献

Zinc Oxide (ZnO) nanorod arrays were grown on different substrates by hydrothermal method. The crystallinity of ZnO nanorod was regularly investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD). Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) were used to examine morphology of the ZnO nanorods. The results indicate that the nanorods grow along [002] orientation. SEM and TEM images and XRD patterns show that the growth of ZnO nanorods on graphene/Quartz substrate is better than the other substrates due to the number and size of the nanorods which are highly affected through the properties of ZnO seed layers and it has lower defects than the other substrates. PL spectra ZnO would have a higher concentration of oxygen vacancy.  相似文献

Well-aligned ZnO nanorod arrays were prepared on substrates by hydrothermal growth under different conditions. The effect of preparing conditions on the deposition of ZnO nanorods was systematically studied by scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction and photoluminescence spectroscopy. It is demonstrated that the growth conditions such as pre-treatment of the substrates, growth temperature, deposition time and the concentration of the precursors have great influence on the morphology and the alignment ordering of ZnO nanorod arrays. Pre-treatment of substrates, including dispersion of ZnO nanoparticles and subsequent annealing, not only plays a main role in governing the rod diameter, but also greatly improves the rod orientation. Although the rod diameter and its distribution are mainly determined by pre-coated ZnO nanoparticles, they can also be monitored to some extent by changing the concentration of the precursors. The growth temperature has a little influence on the orientation of nanorods but it has great impact on their aspect ratio and the photoluminescent property. Kinetic studies show that the growth of ZnO nanorods contains two distinct step: a fast steps within the first hour, in which the nanorods tend to be short and wide, and a slow step, in which long rods with high aspect ratio are obtained.  相似文献

A simple method of synthesizing nanomaterials and the ability to control the size and position of them are crucial for fabricating nanodevices. In this work, we developed a novel ammonia aqueous solution method for growing well-aligned ZnO nanorod arrays on a silicon substrate. For ZnO nanorod growth, a thin zinc metal seed layer was deposited on a silicon substrate by thermal evaporation. Uniform ZnO nanorods were grown on the zinc-coated silicon substrate in aqueous solution containing zinc nitrate and ammonia water. The growth temperature was as low as 60-90 degrees C and a 4-in. wafer size scale up was possible. The morphology of a zinc metal seed layer, pH, growth temperature, and concentration of zinc salt in aqueous solution were important parameters to determine growth characteristics such as average diameters and lengths of ZnO nanorods. We could demonstrate the discrete controlled growth of ZnO nanorods using sequential, tailored growth steps. By combining our novel solution method and general photolithography, we selectively grew ZnO nanorod arrays on a patterned silicon substrate. Our concepts on controlled ZnO nanorod growth using a simple solution method would be applicable for various nanodevice fabrications.  相似文献

ZnO nanorod arrays are a very eligible option as electron acceptor material in hybrid solar cells, owing to their favorable electrical properties and abundance of available, easy, and low‐cost synthesis methods. To become truly effective in this field, a major prerequisite is the ability to tune the nanorod dimensions towards optimal compatibility with electron‐donating absorber materials. In this work, a water‐based seeding and growth procedure is used to synthesize ZnO nanorods. The nanorod diameter is tuned either by modifying the zinc concentration of the seeding solution or by changing the concentration of the hydrothermal growth solution. The consequences of this morphological tailoring in the performance of hybrid solar cells are investigated, which leads to a new record efficiency of 0.82 % for hydrothermally grown ZnO nanorods of size 300 nm in combination with poly(3‐hexylthiophene‐2,5‐diyl) (P3HT). This improvement is attributed to a combined effect of nanorod diameter and orientation, and possibly to a better alignment of the P3HT backbone resulting in improved charge transport.  相似文献

The zinc oxide (ZnO) nanorods with different aspect ratio (length/diameter) were grown directly on the porous silicon (PS) substrate through electrochemical synthesis. The obtained ZnO nanorods/PS products were investigated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and gas-sensing test. Comparative study shows that the addition of nonionic polymer polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) into oxygenated zinc chloride electrolyte can modulate the crystal growth and the aspect ratio of ZnO nanorods from electrodeposition, thus, influence the gas-sensing properties of ZnO nanorods/PS composites. With appropriate amount of PVP in the electrolyte, the product possessing high-density and large aspect ratio ZnO nanorods has an obvious improvement of the NO2-sensing performances with high sensitivity, fast response-recovery characteristic, and good repeatability and selectivity. The gas-sensing mechanism was discussed in the paper. The result indicated that the heterojunction effect of ZnO nanorods and PS may be responsible for the excellent gas-sensing properties.  相似文献

It is demonstrated that nanostructured titanium (IV) oxide (TiO2) films can be deposited on glass substrates at 95 °C using hydrothermal growth, their properties being greatly affected by the substrate materials. Anatase TiO2 films grown on ITO for deposition period of 50 h were observed to exhibit a very efficient, reversible light-induced transition to super-hydrophilicity, reaching a nearly zero contact angle. Enhanced photocatalytic activity (65%) was found for the rutile TiO2 samples grown on microscope glass, possibly due to their higher roughness with respect to anatase grown on ITO. The effect of the substrate material used is discussed in terms of the TiO2 phase and morphology control, for the best photoinduced hydrophilic and photocatalytic performance of the samples.  相似文献

Rosette-like structures of ZnO were synthesized at low temperature (60 °C) using solution process over 20 min of time. Hydroxylamine hydrochloride was used as capping agent with zinc nitrate hexahydrate and sodium hydroxide. Transition from triangular shaped plate like particles to rosette-like structure and to individual nanorods is observed with increasing refluxing temperature. Single-crystalline nature with wurtzite hexagonal phase is confirmed from transmission electron microscopic observations. Photoelectron spectroscopic measurement presented spectra close to the standard bulk ZnO, with an O 1s peak composed of surface adsorbed O–H group, O2? in the oxygen vacancies on ZnO structure and ZnO.  相似文献

Highly oriented ZnO-surfactant multilamellar nanostructures were fabricated by Electrochemistry-Assisted Self-Assembly on silicon substrates from the solution containing zinc nitrate and dilute surfactant hexadecylamine at 60 °C. The co-absorption of inorganic ions with surfactant on the electrode surface implied that the unique growth mechanism depended strongly on the environmental change of cathodic electrode area under the electric field. The ZnO nanosheets (~2.3 nm) were produced. Comparing with pure ZnO film by electrodeposition, the multilamellar nanostructures consisting of the dielectric organic barriers and the semiconducting inorganic well layers give rise to 2-dimensional quantum confinement. This kind of organic–inorganic hybrid materials may be a potential candidate in practical applications.  相似文献

A highly oriented ZnO nanorod array film was fabricated on glass substrate by combinations of Sol–Gel and hydrothermal. The film exhibits perfect superhydrophobicity with a contact angle of 155° and a glide angle of 4° after being surface modified by fluoroalkylsilane, which is similar with wings’ property and structures of large yellow spots mosquitoes. Interestingly, the ZnO nanorods film were converted from superhydrophobicity into superhydrophilicity under ultraviolet light for 2 h due to the decomposition of fluoroalkyl chain of fluoroalkylsilane and the photosensitivity of ZnO surface. The transition mechanisms of wettability are discussed on the basis of correlated theories.  相似文献

Nanocomposite ZnO–Ag thin film containing nano-sized Ag particles have been grown on glass substrate by spin-coating technique using zinc acetate dihydrate as starting precursor in 2-propanol as solvent and monoethanolamine as stabilizer. Silver nanoparticles were added in the ZnO sol using silver nitrate dissolved in ethanol-acetonitrile. Their structural, electrical, crystalline size and optical properties were investigated as a function of preheating, annealing temperature and silver content. The results indicated that the crystalline phase was increased with increase of annealing temperature up to 550 °C at optimum preheating temperature of 275 °C. Thermal gravimetric differential thermal analysis results indicated that the decomposition of pure ZnO and nanocomposite ZnO–Ag precursors occurred at 225 and 234 °C, respectively with formation of ZnO wurtzite crystals. The scanning electron microscopy and atomic force microscopy revealed that the surface structure (the porosity and grain size) of the ZnO–Ag thin film (the film thickness is about 379 nm) was changed compared to pure ZnO thin film. The result of transmission electron microscopy showed that Ag particles were about 5 nm and ZnO particles 58 nm with uniform silver nanoclusters. Optical absorption results indicated that optical absorption of ZnO–Ag thin films decreased with increase of annealing temperature. Nanocomposite ZnO–Ag thin films with [Ag] = 0.068 M and [Ag] = 0.110 M showed an intense absorption band, whose maximum signals appear at 430 nm which is not present in pure ZnO thin films. The result of X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy revealed that the binding energy of Ag 3d5/2 for ZnO–Ag shifts remarkably to the lower binding energy compared to the pure metallic Ag due to the interaction between Ag and ZnO.  相似文献

The ZnO films with two-dimensional ordered macroporous structure were successfully fabricated through hydrothermal crystal growth of ZnO on the ZnO substrate covered with a monolayer of polystyrene (PS) spheres as template. The precursor solution of hydrothermal crystal growth of ZnO were prepared by equimolar solution of Zn(NO3)2·6H2O and hexamethylenetramine (HMT). The confinement effect of the PS spheres template on the growth of ZnO nanorods and the influence of sodium citrate on the crystal growth of ZnO had been studied. The film surface morphology and the preferential growth of ZnO crystal were investigated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD), respectively. Also, the photoluminescence spectrum of ZnO films had been measured, and the corresponding mechanism was discussed. __________ Translated from Chemistry, 2007, 70 (8): 587–592 [译自: 化学通报]  相似文献
