The focusing of a radially polarized beam without annular apodization ora phase filter at the entrance pupil of the objective results in a wide focus and low purity of the longitudinally polarized component. However, the presence of a physical annular apodization or phase filter makes some applications more difficult or even impossible. We propose a radially polarized and amplitude-modulated annular multi-Gaussian beam mode. Numerical simulation shows that it can be focused into a sharper focal spot of 0.125λ2 without additional apodizations or filters. The beam quality describing the purity of longitudinally polarized component is up to 86%.  相似文献

We propose a new approach for generating multiple focal spot segment of sub wavelength size, by tight focusing of phase modulated radially polarized Bessel Gaussian beam. The focusing properties are investigated theoretically by vector diffraction theory. We observed that focal segment with multiple focal spots structure separated with different axial distance can be generated by properly tuning the phase of the incident radially polarized Bessel Gaussian (BG) beam. We propose a new approach for generating a multiple focal spot segment of subwavelength size, by tight focusing of a phase modulated radially polarized Laguerre Bessel Gaussian beam. The focusing properties are investigated theoretically by vector diffraction theory. We observe that the focal segment with multiple focal structures is separated with different axial distances and a super long dark channel can be generated by properly tuning the phase of the incident radially polarized Laguerre Bessel Gaussian beam. We presume that such multiple focal patterns and high intense beam may find applications in atom optics, optical manipulations and multiple optical trapping.  相似文献

针对用于产生光镊的环形光束,利用分步傅里叶-贝塞尔变换算法,对二维环形超高斯光束的非线性传输及聚焦过程进行了数值模拟,给出了环形光束聚焦场附近的光强分布,并分析了非线性调制对聚焦性质(包括焦面中心光强、焦面光强的横向分布、轴上光强和光束质量)的影响.研究表明,从聚焦角度来看,非线性调制中的位相调制比振幅调制对环形光束聚焦性质的影响程度要大;从非线性传输角度来看,随着非线性介质长度的增加,位相调制和振幅调制对环形光束聚焦性质各有不同程度的加剧,其中非线性作用对振幅调制的影响要比位相调制明显.  相似文献

The focusing properties of radially polarized hollow Gaussian beam (HGB) with on-axis spiral optical vortex are investigated theoretically by vector diffraction theory. The phase wavefront of HGB is the function of radial coordinate. Calculation results show that the focusing properties can be altered considerably by beam order of HGB, topological charge of the on-axis optical vortex, and phase parameter that characterizes the radial phase wavefront distribution. Higher topological charge induces focal evolution from one focal spot to annular focal pattern in transverse direction, while phase parameter can lead to focal shift along optical axis remarkably. In addition, focal shift direction can also be adjusted by changing varying direction of phase parameter.  相似文献

In this article, vector diffraction theory is employed to investigate the focusing properties of the Gaussian beam through a phase plate. The phase plate may alter the wavefront phase of an incoming beam by topological charge. Both the circular phase distribution and the annular phase distribution plates are investigated. Numerical simulations show that the focal intensity distribution depends on topological charge. With changing topological charge, focal intensity distribution may evolve into ring shape, and some novel focal spots may occur. Focal intensity distribution evolving process with integer topological charge differs considerably from that with fraction topological charge. When the concentric annular phase plate is placed in the laser path, the focal intensity distribution depends on both the inner radius and topological charge. For small inner radius of the phase plate, doughnut-shape focal pattern occurs. With increasing inner radius, the diameter of the doughnut focal pattern decreases, and doughnut shape disappears slowly in some cases.  相似文献

Focus evolution of linearly polarized Lorentz beam with sine-azimuthal variation wavefront induced by one on-axis optical vortex was investigated theoretically in this article. Calculation results show that the focal pattern can be altered considerably by the charge number of on-axis optical vortex under condition of certain beam parameters and phase parameter that indicates the sine phase change frequency on increasing azimuthal angle. And the focal evolution principle differs remarkably for different beam parameters and the phase parameter. In focus evolution process, some novel focal patterns appear, including annular focal pattern, two-peak focal pattern, intensity lines, hexagon containing two peaks, swallowtail shape, multipede shape, and complex focal pattern. Introduction of optical vortex adds one controllable parameter to alter focal pattern, which may extend application of Lorentz beam in some focusing systems.  相似文献

The intensity distribution in the focal region for the azimuthally polarized beam phase-encoded by the binary 0/π phase plate is calculated on the basis of the vector diffraction theory. With the annular pupil aperture employed, the resolution of the focal spot will be improved remarkably. We demonstrate a sharper focal spot with full width at half maximum (FWHM) of 0.223λ (below λ/4), significantly smaller that of linear, circular and radial polarization beam under the same condition. The focusing phenomena for illumination beam with various polarization status and beam shapes are analyzed explicitly. This analysis could have potential applications in confocal microscopy and two-photo microscopy for polarization difference imaging.  相似文献

We study theoretically routes toward the most confined dark channel that can be obtained using high angular aperture focusing. One possible solution is to use a radially polarized beam combined with an optical singularity. Another possibility is to use an azimuthally polarized light beam combined with an annular aperture or a phase filter. Our results suggest that a focal hole of full-width at half maximum of approximately 0.3λ0/NA is achievable, where λ0 is the wavelength in vacuum and NA is the numerical aperture of the focusing system. Finally, we show that by letting a phase-shifted plane wave and a focused scalar wave interfere only one point in the focal plane will exhibit zero intensity. Advantages and disadvantages of the schemes are discussed.  相似文献

A nonparaxial multi-Gaussian beam model is proposed in order to overcome the limitation that paraxial Gaussian beam models lose accuracy in simulating the beam steering behavior of phased array transducers. Using this nonparaxial multi-Gaussian beam model, the focusing and steering sound fields generated by an ultrasonic linear phased array transducer are calculated and compared with the corresponding results obtained by paraxial multi-Gaussian beam model and more exact Rayleigh-Sommerfeld integral model. In addition, with help of this novel nonparaxial method, an ultrasonic measurement model is provided to investigate the sensitivity of linear phased array transducers versus steering angles. Also the comparisons of model predictions with experimental results are presented to certify the accuracy of this provided measurement model.  相似文献

Based on vectorial diffraction theory, the effect of annular apodization on tightly focused azimuthally polarized Bessel-modulated Gaussian beam (QBG) are investigated theoretically. The numerical results show that the intensity distribution in focal region of the incident beam can be altered considerably by changing beam parameter (μ) and introducing annular apodization (δ). Beam parameter induces the focal splitting in transverse direction, while annular apodization leads to change in focal pattern along optical axis of the focusing system. More interesting, the focal splitting may be in continuous in certain case of incident beam propagating through aligned optical system which is suitable for application such as optical manipulation and optical trapping.  相似文献

A model of an annular flat-topped vortex beam based on multi-Gaussian superimposition is proposed.We experimentally produce this beam with a computer-generated hologram(CGH) displayed on a spatial light modulator(SLM).The power of the beam is concentrated on a single-ring structure and has an extremely strong radial intensity gradient.This beam facilitates various applications ranging from Sisyphus atom cooling to micro-particle trapping.  相似文献

We investigate in detail the focusing properties of the composite vector beam (CVB) composed of two orthogonally linearly polarized beams with inhomogeneous polarization modulation. By optimizing the modulation factor, a multifocus with excellent quality is obtained, where the sizes of each focus are fairly smaller than that of the focusing spot of a radially polarized beam, the uniformity in the intensity of the focal spots is as high as 1, and the distributions of each focal spot have nearly circular symmetry. In order to decrease the power loss of the incident beam, the CVB formed by an annular beam is demonstrated as the substitute for the optimized CVB formed by a Gaussian beam. This work is important for high-resolution and high-speed imaging in biology and micro-nanofabrication.  相似文献

Focal shift of a concentric piecewise cylindrical vector beam is investigated by means of vector diffractive theory. A section of the beam consists of three concentric portions. The center circle portion and outer annular portion are radial polarized, and the inner annular portion is generalized polarized. The phase of the inner annular portion is tunable. For certain geometric parameters of the beam, the focal shift occurs and can be adjusted by phase shift and polarized direction of the inner annular portion. For some cases, a three-peak focal pattern may occur, and peaks shift in the same direction, and one local minimum also shifts. For some other cases, a two-peak focal pattern may occur with shifting peaks. The tunable quantitative focal shift is investigated in detail.  相似文献

We investigate the focusing properties of an azimuthally polarized and amplitude modulated annular multi Gaussian beam by a high numerical aperture (NA) lens based on vector diffraction theory. We observe that our proposed system generates a subwavelength focal hole of 0.46λ having large uniform focal depth of 36λ without any annular obstruction. This kind of nondiffracting focal hole is called dark channel, which may have applications in atom optical experiments, such as with atomic lenses, atom traps, and atom switches.  相似文献

The tight focusing properties of a radially polarized Gaussian beam with a nested pair of vortices having a radial wave front distribution are investigated theoretically by the vector diffraction theory.The results show that the optical intensity in the focal region can be altered considerably by changing the location of the vortices nested in a radially polarized Gaussian beam.It is noted that focal evolution from one annular focal pattern to a highly confined focal spot in the transverse direction is observed corresponding to the change in the location of the optical vortices in the input plane.It is also observed that the generated focal hole or spot lead to a focal shift along the optical axis remarkably under proper radial phase modulation.Hence the proposed system may be applied to construct tunable optical traps for both high and low refractive index particles.  相似文献

给出了环状光束在柱坐标系下的一种描述模型,并利用广义衍射积分理论,推导出环状光束经过近轴ABCD光学系统的传输公式.在此基础上,通过数值模拟方法定量分析了环状光束的聚焦光强分布以及焦面处的桶中功率.研究结果表明,环状光束的聚焦特性与光束阶数以及系统菲涅耳数有关;环状光束在实际焦面和几何焦面上的桶中功率均随着遮拦比的增大而降低,而随着系统菲涅耳数的增大而增大.在实际工作中,通过合理地选取系统菲涅耳数和光束遮拦比可以有效地控制环状光束聚焦后的光束质量.  相似文献

Based on flattened multi-Gaussian beam model and partially coherent theory, the expression for cross-spectral density of partially coherent flattened multi-Gaussian beam with a hole was given. The analytical expression for on-axis spectrum of partially coherent flattened multi-Gaussian beam with a hole passing through a paraxial ABCD optical system was derived. The spectral shifts of the partially coherent flattened multi-Gaussian beam with a hole propagating in free space and passing through the lens have been analyzed. The effects of the beam profile, spatial coherence parameter and the system parameters on the relative spectral shift have been discussed. Our results show that the inner radius of flattened multi-Gaussian beam with a hole determines its relative spectral shift in near field and its outer radius determines that in far field. For the flattened multi-Gaussian beam with a hole passing through a lens, the on-axis relative spectral shift changes sharply near the focal plane with the increase in Fresnel number and the spatial coherence parameter.  相似文献
