Sensitivity of a posterior quantity (f, P) to the choice of the sampling distribution f and prior P is considered. Sensitivity is measured by the range of (f, P) when f and P vary in nonparametric classes f and P respectively. Direct and iterative methods are described which obtain the range of (f, P) over f f when prior P is fixed, and also the overall range over f f and P P . When multiple i.i.d. observations X 1,...,X k are observed from f, the posterior quantity (f, P) is not a ratio-linear function of f. A method of steepest descent is proposed to obtain the range of (f, P). Several examples illustrate applications of these methods.  相似文献

We look at an extension of the steady state delay probability inM/M/s/s + c systems to nonintegral number of serverss and queue capacityc, which we call GED function. We show that this function is increasing and concave in the queue capacity. The Bass–Heller–Swan–Farrell–Hsiang–Siebenmann decomposition of the Whitehead group K 1(A[z,z-1]) of a twisted Laurent polynomial extension A[z,z-1] of a ring A is generalized to a decomposition of the Whitehead group K 1(A((z))) of a twisted Novikov ring of power series A((z))=A[[z]][z-1]. The decomposition involves a summand W1(A, ) which is an Abelian quotient of the multiplicative group W(A,) of Witt vectors 1+a1z+a2z2+ ··· A[[z]]. AnN-node tandem queueing network with Bernoulli feedback to the end of the queue of thefirst node is considered. We first revisit the single-nodeM/G/1 queue with Bernoulli feedback, and derive a formula forEL(n), the expected queue length seen by a customer at his nth feedback. We show that, asn becomes large,EL(n) tends to /(l ), being the effective traffic intensity. We then treat the entire queueing network and calculate the mean value ofS, the total sojourn time of a customer in theN-node system. Based on these results we study the problem ofoptimally ordering the nodes so as to minimize ES. We show that this is a special case of a general sequencing problem and derive sufficient conditions for an optimal ordering. A few extensions of the serial queueing model are also analyzed. We conclude with an appendix in which we derive an explicit formula for the correlation coefficient between the number of customers seen by an arbitrary arrival to anM/G/1 queue, and the number of customers he leaves behind him upon departure. For theM/M/1 queue this coefficient simply equals the traffic intensity .  相似文献

Analysis is presented for the heat transfer performance of square ducts with internal fins from each wall in the case of combined free and forced convection by fully developed laminar flow. Numerical results are obtained for the Nusselt number and the pressure drop parameter for various values of finlengths and heat source parameter. For various values of Rayleigh numbers, the Nusselt number increases with the increase in finlength and decreases with the increase in heat source parameter.
Zusammenfassung Es wird eine Analyse für den Wärmeaustausch von quadratischen Rohren mit inneren Rippen an jeder Wand im Falle einer Kombination von freier und erzwungener Konvektion bei voll entwickelter laminarer Strömung gegeben. Numerische Resultate für die Nusselt-Zahl und den Druckabfall-Koeffizienten für verschiedene Rippenbreiten und Parameter der Wärmequelle werden erhalten. Für einige Werte der Rayleighzahl wächst die Nusselt-Zahl mit der Rippenbreite und fällt mit wachsendem Parameter der Wärmequelle.

Let be a linear representation of a finite group over a field of characteristic 0. Further, let R be the corresponding algebra of invariants, and let P (t) be its Hilbert–Poincaré series. Then the series P (t) represents a rational function (t)/(t). If R is a complete intersection, then (t) is a product of cyclotomic polynomials. Here we prove the inverse statement for the case where is an almost regular (in particular, regular) representation of a cyclic group. This yields an answer to a question of R. The concept of {G, , V}-structure is introduced which is a principal G-bundle B on which a V-valued form is given.
