Strong green luminescence of Ni2+-doped ZnS nanocrystals   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
ZnS nanoparticles doped with Ni2+ have been obtained by chemical co-precipitation from homogeneous solutions of zinc and nickel salt compounds, with S2- as precipitating anion, formed by decomposition of thioacetamide (TAA). The average size of particles doped with different mole ratios, estimated from the Debye–Scherrer formula, is about 2–2.5 nm. The nanoparticles could be doped with nickel during synthesis without altering the X-ray diffraction pattern. A Hitachi M-850 fluorescence spectrophotometer reveals the emission spectra of samples. The absorption spectra show that the excitation spectra of Ni-doped ZnS nanocrystallites are almost the same as those of pure ZnS nanocrystallites (λex=308–310 nm). Because a Ni2+ luminescent center is formed in ZnS nanocrystallites, the photoluminescence intensity increases with the amount of ZnS nanoparticles doped with Ni2+. Stronger and stable green-light emission (520 nm) (its intensity is about two times that of pure ZnS nanoparticles) has been observed from ZnS nanoparticles doped with Ni2+. Synthesis and photoluminescence characteristics of doped ZnS nanoparticles   总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3
Free-standing powders of doped ZnS nanoparticles have been synthesized by using a chemical co-precipitation of Zn2+, Mn2+, Cu2+ and Cd2+ with sulfur ions in aqueous solution. X-ray diffraction analysis shows that the diameter of the particles is ∼2–3 nm. The unique luminescence properties, such as the strength (its intensity is about 12 times that of ZnS nanoparticles) and stability of the visible-light emission, were observed from ZnS nanoparticles co-doped with Cu2+ and Mn2+. The nanoparticles could be doped with copper and manganese during the synthesis without altering the X-ray diffraction pattern. However, doping shifts the luminescence to 520–540 nm in the case of co-doping with Cu2+ and Mn2+. Doping also results in a blue shift on the excitation wavelength. In Cd2+-doped ZnS nanometer-scale particles, the fluorescence spectra show a red shift in the emission wavelength (ranging from 450 nm to 620 nm). Also a relatively broad emission (ranging from blue to yellow) has been observed. The results strongly suggest that doped ZnS nanocrystals, especially two kinds of transition metal-activated ZnS nanoparticles, form a new class of luminescent materials. ZnS:Cu+ and ZnS:Cu2+ nanocrystallites have been obtained by chemical precipitation from homogeneous solutions of zinc, copper salt compounds, with S2− as precipitating anion formed by decomposition of thioacetamide. X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis shows that average diameter of particles is about 2.0-2.5 nm. The nanoparticles can be doped with copper during synthesis without altering XRD pattern. However, the emission spectrum of ZnS nanocrystallites doped with Cu+ and Cu2+ consists of two emission peaks. One is at 450 nm and the other is at 530 nm. The absorptive spectrum of the doped sample is different from that of un-doped ZnS nanoparticles. Because the emission process of the Cu+ luminescence center in ZnS nanocrystallites is remarkably different from that of the Cu2+ luminescence center, the emission spectra of Cu+-doped samples are different from those of Cu2+-doped samples.  相似文献

In this work the preparation, characterization and photoluminescence studies of pure and copper-doped ZnS nanophosphors are reported, which are prepared by using solid-state reaction technique at a temperature of 100 °C. The as-obtained samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and UV-VIS Reflectance spectroscopy. The XRD analysis confirms the formation of cubic phase of undoped as well as Cu2+-doped ZnS nanoparticles. Furthermore it shows that the average size of pure as well as copper-doped samples ranges from 15 to 50 nm. The room-temperature PL spectra of the undoped ZnS sample showed two main peaks centered at around 421 and 450 nm, which are the characteristic emissions of interstitial zinc and sulfur vacancies, respectively. The PL of the doped sample showed a broad-band emission spectrum centered at 465 nm accompanied with shoulders at around 425, 450 and 510 nm, which are the characteristic emission peaks of interstitial zinc, sulfur vacancies and Cu2+ ions, respectively. Our experimental results indicate that the PL spectrum confirms the presence of Cu2+ ions in the ZnS nanoparticles as expected.  相似文献

ZnS nanoparticles with Co2+ doping have been prepared at room temperature through a soft chemical route, namely the chemical co-precipitation method. The nanostructures of the prepared nanoparticles have been analyzed using X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM), transmission electron microscope (TEM), selected-area electron diffraction (SAED), and UV-vis spectrophotometer. The sizes of as prepared nanoparticles are found to be in 1–4 nm range. Room-temperature photoluminescence (PL) spectrum of the undoped sample exhibits emission in the blue region with multiple peaks under UV excitation. On the other hand, in the Co2+ doped ZnS samples enhanced visible light emissions with emission intensities of ~35 times larger than that of the undoped sample are observed under the same UV excitation wavelength of 280 nm.  相似文献

ZnS nanoparticles with Mn2+ doping (1–2.5%) have been prepared through a simple soft chemical route, namely the chemical precipitation method. The nanostructures of the prepared undoped ZnS and Mn2+-doped ZnS:Mn nanoparticles have been analyzed using X-ray diffraction (XRD), Scanning electron microscope (SEM), transmission electron microscope (TEM) and UV–vis spectrophotometer. The size of the particles is found to be in 2–3 nm range. Room-temperature photoluminescence (PL) spectrum of the undoped sample only exhibits a blue-light emission peaked at ∼365 nm under UV excitation. However, from the Mn2+-doped samples, a yellow-orange emission from the Mn2+ 4T16A1 transition is observed along with the blue emission. The prepared 2.5% Mn2+-doped sample shows efficient emission of yellow-orange light with the peak emission at ∼580 nm with the blue emission suppressed.  相似文献

ZnS nanoparticles with Mn2+ doping (0.5-20%) have been prepared through a simple chemical method, namely the chemical precipitation method. The structure of the nanoparticles has been analyzed using X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM), transmission electron microscope (TEM) and UV-vis spectrometer. The size of the particles is found to be 3-5 nm range. Photoluminescence spectra were recorded for undoped ZnS nanoparticles using an excitation wavelength of 320 nm, exhibiting an emission peak centered at around 445 nm. However, from the Mn2+-doped samples, a yellow-orange emission from the Mn2+4T1-6A1 transition is observed along with the blue emission. The prepared Mn2+-doped sample shows efficient emission of yellow-orange light with the peak emission 580 nm with the blue emission suppressed. The maximum PL intensity is observed only at the excitation energy of 3.88 eV (320 nm). Increase in stabilizing time up to 48 h in de-ionized water yields the enhancement of emission intensity of doped (4% Mn2+) ZnS. The correlation made through the concentration of Mn2+ versus PL intensity resulted in opposite trend (mirror image) of blue and yellow emissions.  相似文献

TiO2 nanoparticles doped with two different concentrations of Cobalt, 0.02 and 0.04 mol, are prepared by sol–gel method. The crystalline phase of the doped and undoped nanoparticles and particle sizes are observed with X-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscope. FTIR confirms the bonding interaction of Co2+ in TiO2 lattice framework. The UV absorption spectra of the doped material shows two absorption peaks in the visible region related to d–d electronic transitions of Co2+ in TiO2 lattice. Compared to undoped TiO2 nanoparticles, the cobalt doped samples show a red shift in the band gap. Steady state photoluminescence spectra give emission peaks related to oxygen defects. The decrease in the intensity ratio of UV/visible emission peaks confirms distortion of structural regularity and formation of defects after doping. The intensity ratio of different visible emission peaks is nearly same for undoped and 0.02 Co2+. However, this ratio decreases profoundly at 0.04 Co2+, due to concentration quenching effect. Photoluminescence excitation spectra, recorded at 598 nm emission wavelength, give different excitation peaks associated with oxygen vacancies and Co2+. Time resolved photoluminescence spectra give longer decay time for doped samples, indicating longer relaxation of conduction band electrons on the defect and on dopant sites.  相似文献

Pure and Er3+ doped SnO2 semiconductor nanoparticles have been synthesized by solgel technique. The X-ray diffraction patterns show peaks corresponding to tetragonal structure of SnO2. No Er related impurity peaks could be observed. From the TEM micrographs average crystallite size was estimated to be 12 nm. The UV–visible absorption spectra of SnO2:Er showed blue shift in the absorption shoulder compared with the spectra of undoped SnO2 sample. Photoluminescence emission intensity of SnO2:Er nanoparticles was found to be quenched with increasing concentration of Er3+ ions. The electron spin resonance (ESR) analysis of Er doped SnO2 nanoparticles indicated Er in 3 + state with g = 2.  相似文献

Starting from previous investigations in LiNbO3 bulk crystals, we studied the optical properties of Er3+ ions in Ti:LiNbO3 channel waveguides and investigated the waveguide-specific lattice environment of the Er3+ ions (“sites”) caused by the doping method used and the presence of a large number of Ti4+ ions. For that purpose the method of combined excitation–emission spectroscopy was applied for the first time to waveguides at low temperatures. Comparing the spectroscopic results obtained for the green, red, and near-IR luminescence (λ≈550, ≈650 and ≈980 nm) under direct (450 nm), 2-step (980 nm), and 3-step (1.5 μm) laser excitation, we found several distinguishable Er3+ sites which in terms of energy levels and relative numbers are similar to those in bulk material, but exhibit significantly different up-conversion efficiencies and strongly inhomogeneously broadened transitions. Moreover, we were able to distinguish isolated and cluster Er3+ sites by their characteristic excitation and emission transition energies and studied the respective excitation/relaxation channels. The cluster sites are most efficient in the up-conversion process, especially under 3-step excitation. Using accepted microscopic models for Er3+ and Ti4+ incorporation into the LiNbO3 crystal lattice, the site distribution and up-conversion mechanisms are elucidated and their consequences for laser applications in different spectral regions are discussed. We study the photoluminescent properties of ZnS nanoparticles without the influence of dopants or magnetic impurities. The ZnS nanoparticles reported in this case were synthesized by a novel method of electro-explosion of wire (EEW). The nanoparticles were prepared employing electro-explosion of pure zinc wires in a cell filled with sulfide ions to produce a free-standing compound ZnS semiconductor. To investigate the structural and optical properties, these nanoparticles were characterized by X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), atomic force microscopy (AFM), UV–visible and photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy. Consistent with the enhancement of the PL intensity of the 443 nm peak due to deep blue emission of ZnS particles, the XRD of the nanoparticles reveals a hexagonal phase of ZnS nanocrystallites prepared by our novel synthesis technique.   相似文献

Undoped and Cu2+ doped (0.2-0.8%) ZnS nanoparticles have been synthesized through chemical precipitation method. Tri-n-octylphosphine oxide (TOPO) and sodium hexametaphosphate (SHMP) were used as capping agents. The synthesized nanoparticles have been analyzed using X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscope (TEM), Fourier transform infrared spectrometer (FT-IR), UV-vis spectrometer, photoluminescence (PL) and thermo gravimetric-differential scanning calorimetry (TG-DTA) analysis. The size of the particles is found to be 4-6 nm range. Photoluminescence spectra were recorded for ZnS:Cu2+ under the excitation wavelength of 320 nm. The prepared Cu2+-doped sample shows efficient PL emission in 470-525 nm region. The capped ZnS:Cu emission intensity is enhanced than the uncapped particles. The doping ions were identified by electron spin resonance (ESR) spectrometer. The phase changes were observed in different temperatures.  相似文献

Abstract

ZnS nanoparticles and Mn2+-doped ZnS nanoparticles were prepared by a reverse micelle reaction system. In addition, ZnS and Mn2+-doped ZnS nanoparticles were modified with poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) and 1-dodecanethiol (C12H25SH). The average particle size of the ZnS sample is determined around 2.3 nm by using the well-known Scherrer equation, which is in accordance with the results obtained from UV–vis and TEM analysis. Fluorescence intensity of the Mn2+-doped ZnS nanoparticles increases with increasing Mn2+ content compared with undoped ZnS nanoparticles, and coating PVA can also make fluorescence intensity increase. Different Zn2+/S2- or C12H25SH/Zn2+ can affect intensity of PL emission peak and its position, which is discussed in this paper.  相似文献

The results of a study of time-resolved photoluminescence (PL) and energy transfer in both pure and doped with Ce3+ ions SrAlF5 (SAF) single crystals are presented. The time-resolved and steady-state PL spectra in the energy range of 1.5–6.0 eV, the PL excitation spectra and the reflectivity in the energy range of 3.7–21 eV, as well as the PL decay kinetics were measured at 8.8 and 295 K. The lattice defects were revealed in the low temperature PL spectra (emission bands at 2.9 and 4.5 eV) in the undoped SAF crystals. The luminescence spectra of the doped Ce3+:SAF crystals demonstrate a new selective emission bands in the range of 3.7–4.5 eV with the exponential decay kinetics (τ ≈ 60 ns at X-ray excitation). These bands correspond to the d-f transitions in Ce3+ ions, which occupy nonequivalent sites in the crystal lattice.  相似文献

We report a simple soft chemical method for the synthesis of ZnS nanoparticles using varying concentration of cationic surfactant CTAB and examine its surface properties. Powder X-ray diffraction, UV-vis spectroscopy, photoluminescence spectroscopy, selective area electron diffraction, and transmission electron microscopy are used to characterize the as prepared ZnS nanoparticles. XRD and TEM measurements show the size of polydispersed ZnS nanoparticles is in the range of 2-5 nm with cubic phase structure. The photoluminescence spectrum of ZnS nanoparticles exhibits four fluorescence emission peaks centered at 387 nm, 412 nm, 489 nm and 528 nm showing the application potential for the optical devices. In Raman spectra of ZnS nanoparticles, the modes around 320, 615 and 700 cm−1 are observed.  相似文献

The Ca10(PO4)6(OH)2 hydroxyapatite (HA) nanopowders doped with Eu3+ ions were prepared using a wet synthesis method. Their structure and morphology were investigated. The XRD analysis has proven a single-phase of HA nanocrystallites. The average sizes of HA nanocrystallites calcinated at 400°C and 700°C were determined to be about 20 nm and 30 nm, respectively. The emission and excitation spectra as well as the fluorescence decay rates of Eu3+ ion doped HA nanocrystallites were measured. Particular attention was given to the spectroscopic properties of Eu3+ ions as a luminescent probe of nanocrystalline HA structure as a result of varying annealing temperature and dopant concentration. The Judd-Ofelt analysis of f-f transitions of Eu3+:HA nanocrystallites was performed. The effect of calcination temperatures on grain sizes and luminescence properties is noted and discussed.  相似文献

This work investigates cobalt doped ZnO nanoparticles prepared by using wet chemical methods. The nanoparticles have a typical size of 3–8 nm. The electronic structure as well as the optical and magnetic properties of Co2+ have been characterized. X-ray diffraction spectra of the powder show wurtzite ZnO with no secondary Co phases. In the energy range below the bandgap, the optical absorption spectra show the internal d–d transitions related to Co2+ incorporated on the Zn lattice site in ZnO. Low temperature photoluminescence measurements confirm these results. Based on the analysis of the g-valuesfor bulk ZnO:Co., electron paramagnetic resonance measurements coincide with the simulation of Co-doped ZnO powder. Thus far, no evidence for ferromagnetism has been obtained. PACS 61.46.Df; 76.30.Fc; 78.67.Bf  相似文献

The compositional, structural, optical and magnetic properties of ZnS, Zn0.98Co0.02S, Zn0.98Sm0.02S and Zn0.96Co0.02Sm0.02S nanoparticles synthesized by a hydrothermal method are presented and discussed. X-ray diffraction (XRD), high resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM) and selected area electron diffraction (SAED) studies revealed that all the samples exhibited cubic structure without any impurity phases. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) results revealed that the Co and Sm ions existed in +2 and +3 states in these samples. The photoluminescence (PL) spectra of all the samples exhibited a broad emission in the visible region. The room temperature magnetization versus applied magnetic field (MH) curves demonstrated that the Sm+Co doped nanoparticles exhibited enhanced ferromagnetic behavior compare to Co and Sm individually doped ZnS nanoparticles, which is probably due to the exchange interaction between conductive electrons with local spin polarized electrons on the Co2+ or Sm3+ ions. This study intensifies the understanding of the novel performances of co-doped ZnS nanoparticles and also provides possibilities to fabricate future spintronic devices.  相似文献

The presence of surfactants polyethylene glycol (PEG), polyvinyl pyrrolidone (PVP), sodium hexameta polyphosphate (SHMP) and tri-octyl phosphine oxide (TOPO) on the surface of Ni2+ doped ZnS (ZnS:Ni2+) nanoparticles resulted variation in their optical properties. The optical properties of each surfactant-capped ZnS:Ni2+ nanoparticles were investigated using UV–visible (UV–Vis) absorption and photoluminescence (PL) techniques. The absorption spectra and fluorescent emission spectra showed a significant blue shift compared to that of the bulk zinc sulfide. The effect of the optical properties in colloidal form (wet) and dry samples were investigated. Enhanced PL emission was observed for the dry samples at 80 °C. Thermal properties of the ZnS:Ni2+ was also studied using thermo gravimetric-differential thermal analysis (TG-DTA), Fourier transform infra-red spectrometer (FT-IR) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The results are presented and discussed.  相似文献
