We describe the preparation, characterization, and luminescence of four novel electrochromic aromatic poly(amine hydrazide)s containing main‐chain triphenylamine units with or without a para‐substituted N,N‐diphenylamino group on the pendent phenyl ring. These polymers were prepared from either 4,4′‐dicarboxy‐4″‐N,N‐diphenylaminotriphenylamine or 4,4′‐dicarboxytriphenylamine and the respective aromatic dihydrazide monomers via a direct phosphorylation polycondensation reaction. All the poly(amine hydrazide)s were amorphous and readily soluble in many common organic solvents and could be solution‐cast into transparent and flexible films with good mechanical properties. These poly(amine hydrazide)s exhibited strong ultraviolet–visible absorption bands at 346–348 nm in N‐methyl‐2‐pyrrolidone (NMP) solutions. Their photoluminescence spectra in NMP solutions or as cast films showed maximum bands around 508–544 and 448–487 nm in the green and blue region for the two series of polymers. The hole‐transporting and electrochromic properties were examined by electrochemical and spectroelectrochemical methods. All obtained poly(amine hydrazide)s and poly(amine‐1,3,4‐oxadiazole)s exhibited two reversible oxidation redox couples at 0.8 and 1.24 V vs. Ag/AgCl in acetonitrile solution and revealed excellent stability of electrochromic characteristics, changing color from original pale yellow to green and then to blue at electrode potentials of 0.87 and 1.24 V, respectively. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. We report the preparation and characterization of a series of novel electrochromic, aromatic poly(amine amide)s with pendent triphenylamine units. The synthesis proceeded via direct phosphorylation polycondensation between a novel diamine, N,N‐bis(4‐aminophenyl)‐N′,N′‐diphenyl‐1,4‐phenylenediamine, and various aromatic dicarboxylic acids. All the poly(amine amide)s were amorphous and readily soluble in many common organic solvents and could be solution‐cast into transparent, tough, and flexible films with good mechanical properties. They exhibited good thermal stability and 10% weight‐loss temperatures above 540 °C. Their glass‐transition temperatures were 263–290 °C. These polymers in N‐methyl‐2‐pyrrolidinone solutions exhibited strong ultraviolet–visible absorption peaks at 307–358 nm and photoluminescence peaks around 532–590 nm in the green region. The hole‐transporting and electrochromic properties were studied with electrochemical and spectroelectrochemical methods. Cyclic voltammograms of poly(amine amide) films prepared by the casting of polymer solutions onto an indium tin oxide coated glass substrate exhibited two reversible oxidation redox couples at 0.65 and 1.03 V versus Ag/AgCl in an acetonitrile solution. All the poly(amine amide)s showed excellent stability with respect to their electrochromic characteristics; the color of the films changed from pale yellow to green and then blue at 0.85 and 1.25 V, respectively. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Three series of aromatic polyamides, polyesters, and poly(1,3,4‐oxadiazole)s containing bulky fluorene structures were prepared from 9,9‐bis(4‐carboxyphenyl) fluorene. All of the polymers were readily soluble in many organic solvents and showed useful thermal stability associated with high glass‐transition temperatures in the range of 220–366 °C. These wholly aromatic polymer films were colorless, with high optical transparency, and exhibited UV‐vis absorption bands at 266–348 nm and photoluminescence maximum bands at 368–457 nm within the purple to green region in N,N‐dimethylacetamide (DMAc) solutions. The poly(amine‐amide) Ic exhibited excellent electrochromic contrast and coloration efficiency, changing color from the colorless neutral form to green and then to the dark blue oxidized forms with good stability of electrochromic characteristics. Almost all of these wholly aromatic polymer films were colorless and showed high optical transparency. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem 45: 4352–4363, 2007  相似文献

Two novel poly(amine‐hydrazide)s were prepared from the polycondensation reactions of the dicarboxylic acid, 9‐[N,N‐di(4‐carboxyphenyl)amino]anthracene ( 1 ), with terephthalic dihydrazide ( TPH ) and isophthalic dihydrazide ( IPH ) via the Yamazaki phosphorylation reaction, respectively. The poly(amine‐hydrazide)s were readily soluble in many common organic solvents and could be solution cast into transparent films. Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) indicated that these hydrazide polymers had glass‐transition temperatures (Tg) in the range of 182–230 °C and could be thermally cyclodehydrated into the corresponding oxadiazole polymers in the range of 300–400 °C. The resulting poly(amine‐1,3,4‐oxadiazole)s had useful levels of thermal stability associated with high Tg (263–318 °C), 10% weight‐loss temperatures in excess of 500 °C, and char yield at 800 °C in nitrogen higher than 55%. These organo‐soluble anthrylamine‐based poly(amine‐hydrazide)s and poly (amine‐1,3,4‐oxadiazole)s exhibited maximum UV‐vis absorption at 346–349 and 379–388 nm in N‐methyl‐2‐pyrrolidone (NMP) solution, respectively. Their photoluminescence spectra in NMP solution showed maximum bands around 490–497 nm in the green region. The poly(amine‐hydrazide) I ‐ IPH showed a green photoluminescence at 490 nm with PL quantum yield of 29.9% and 17.0% in NMP solution and film state, respectively. The anthrylamine‐based poly(amine‐1,3,4‐oxadiazole)s revealed a electrochromic characteristics with changing color from the pale yellow neutral form to the red reduced form when scanning potentials negatively from 0.00 to ?2.20 V. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A diimide dicarboxylic acid, 1,4‐bis(4‐trimellitimidophenoxy)naphthalene (1,4‐BTMPN), was prepared by condensation of 1,4‐bis(4‐aminophenoxy)naphthalene and trimellitic anhydride at a 1 : 2 molar ratio. A series of novel poly(amide‐imide)s (IIa–k) with inherent viscosities of 0.72 to 1.59 dL/g were prepared by triphenyl phosphite‐activated polycondensation from the diimide‐diacid 1,4‐BTMPN with various aromatic diamines (Ia–k) in a medium consisting of N‐methyl‐2‐pyrrolidinone (NMP), pyridine, and calcium chloride. The poly(amide‐imide)s showed good solubility in NMP, N,N‐dimethylacetamide, and N,N‐dimethylformamide. The thermal properties of the obtained poly(amide‐imide)s were examined with differential scanning calorimetry and thermogravimetry analysis. The synthesized poly(amide‐imide)s possessed glass‐transition temperatures in the range of 215 to 263°C. The poly(amide‐imide)s exhibited excellent thermal stabilities and had 10% weight losses at temperatures in the range of 538 to 569°C under a nitrogen atmosphere. Two series of phosphorus‐containing aromatic poly(ester amide)s with inherent viscosities of 0.46–3.20 dL/g were prepared by low‐temperature solution polycondensation from 1,4‐bis(3‐aminobenzoyloxy)‐2‐(6‐oxido‐6H‐dibenz〈c,e〉〈1,2〉oxaphosphorin‐6‐yl)naphthalene and 1,4‐bis(4‐aminobenzoyloxy)‐2‐(6‐oxido‐6H‐dibenz〈c,e〉〈1,2〉oxaphosphorin‐6‐yl)naphthalene with various aromatic diacid chlorides. All the poly(ester amide)s were amorphous and readily soluble in many organic solvents, such as N,N‐dimethylformamide, N,N‐dimethylacetamide (DMAc), and N‐methyl‐2‐pyrrolidone (NMP). Transparent, tough, and flexible films of these polymers were cast from DMAc and NMP solutions. Their casting films had tensile strengths of 71–214 MPa, elongations to break of 5–10%, and initial moduli of 2.3–6.0 GPa. These poly(ester amide)s had glass‐transition temperatures of 209–239 °C (m‐series) and 222–267 °C (p‐series). The degradation temperatures at 10% weight loss in nitrogen for these polymers ranged from 462 to 489 °C, and the char yields at 800 °C were 55–63%. Most of the poly(ester amide)s also showed a high char yield of 35–45%, even at 800 °C under a flow of air. The limited oxygen indices of these poly(ester amide)s were 35–46. © 2002 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem 40: 459–470, 2002; DOI 10.1002/pola.10129  相似文献

Novel electrochromic polymers were prepared by the click postfunctionalization of poly(4‐azidomethylstyrene) with alkyne‐containing aromatic amine units in the presence of Cu(I) catalysts. Two kinds of aromatic amine units, tris(4‐alkoxyphenyl)amine and N,N,N′,N′‐tetraphenyl‐p‐phenylenediamine, were introduced into polystyrene side chains, which were completely characterized by gel permeation chromatography–multiangle light scattering, nuclear magnetic resonance, and infrared spectroscopies, and elemental analysis. Thermal analyses demonstrated the high stability with the decomposition temperatures exceeding 300 °C even after postfunctionalization. The UV–vis absorption spectra of the polymer thin films revealed negligible absorption in the visible region, as reasonably confirmed by visual observation. The polymer thin films were prepared by spray‐coating on an indium tin oxide‐coated glass plate. Cyclic voltammograms of these films exhibited anodic peaks ascribed to the oxidation of the side‐chain aromatic amine moieties. The tris(4‐alkoxyphenyl)amine unit displayed one‐step oxidation at 0.287 V (vs. Ag/AgCl), while the N,N,N′,N′‐tetraphenyl‐p‐phenylenediamine unit showed two‐step oxidations at 0.297 and 0.641 V. These oxidation processes produced new colors of the polymer films. The former triarylamine‐based chromophore provided a blue color after the oxidation, while the latter phenylenediamine‐based chromophore showed a potentially controlled green and dark blue colors. The reversibility and switching behaviors of these color changes were also comprehensively investigated. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem, 2012  相似文献

Two new aromatic poly(amide‐hydrazide)s (PAHs)‐bearing electroactive pyrenylamine units in the backbone were prepared from the phosphorylation polycondensation reactions of N,N‐di(4‐carboxyphenyl)‐1‐aminopyrene ( 1 ) with p‐aminobenzoyl hydrazide (p‐ABH) and m‐aminobenzoyl hydrazide (m‐ABH), respectively. The PAHs could be further cyclodehydrated into the corresponding poly(amide‐1,3,4‐oxadiazole)s in the range of 300–400 °C in the solid film state. All the hydrazide and oxadiazole polymers were soluble in many polar organic solvents and could afford flexible and strong films via solution casting. The poly(amide‐1,3,4‐oxdiazole)s had high glass‐transition temperatures (294–309 °C) and high thermal stability (10% weight‐loss temperature in excess of 520 °C). The dilute solutions of all the hydrazide and oxadiazole polymers showed strong fluorescence with emission maxima around 457–459 nm in the blue region. Copolymers obtained from the polycondensation of equimolar mixture of diacid 1 and 4,4′‐oxydibenzoic acid with p‐ABH or m‐ABH exhibited a significantly increased fluorescence quantum efficiency in comparison with the homopolymers. Cyclic voltammetry results indicated that all the hydrazide and oxadiazole polymers exhibited an ambipolar (n‐ and p‐doping processes) and electrochromic behavior. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A new triphenylamine‐containing aromatic dicarboxylic acid, N,N′‐bis(4‐carboxyphenyl)‐N,N′‐diphenyl‐1,4‐phenylenediamine, was synthesized by the condensation of N,N′‐diphenyl‐1,4‐phenylenediamine with 4‐fluorobenzonitrile, followed by the alkaline hydrolysis of the intermediate dinitrile compound. A series of novel triphenylamine‐based aromatic poly(amine amide)s with inherent viscosities of 0.50–1.02 dL/g were prepared from the diacid and various aromatic diamines by direct phosphorylation polycondensation. These amorphous polyamides were readily soluble in various organic solvents and could be cast into transparent and tough films. The aromatic polyamides had useful levels of thermal stability associated with high glass‐transition temperatures (268–355 °C), 10% weight loss temperatures in excess of 480 °C, and char yields at 800 °C in nitrogen higher than 60%. These polymers showed maximum ultraviolet–visible absorption at 350–358 nm and exhibited fluorescence emission maxima around 435–458 nm in N‐methyl‐2‐pyrrolidinone solutions with fluorescence quantum yields ranging from 0.4 to 15.0%. A series of poly(amide–imide)s IIIa–m containing flexible isopropylidene and ether groups in the backbone were synthesized by the direct polycondensation of 4,4′‐[1,4‐phenylenebis(isopropylidene‐1,4‐phenyleneoxy)]dianiline (PIDA) with various bis(trimellitimide)s IIa–m in N‐methyl‐2‐pyrrolidone (NMP) using triphenyl phosphite and pyridine as condensing agents. The resulting poly(amide–imide)s had inherent viscosities in the range of 0.80–1.36 dL/g. Except for those from the bis(trimellitimide)s of p‐phenylenediamine and benzidine, all the polymers could be cast from DMAc into transparent and tough films. They exhibited excellent solubility in polar solvents. The 10% weight loss temperatures of the polymers in air and in nitrogen were all above 495°C, and their Tg values were in the range of 201–252°C. Some properties of poly(amide–imide)s III were compared with those of the corresponding poly(amide–imide)s V prepared from the bis(trimellitimide) of diamine PIDA and various aromatic diamines. © 1999 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. A series of novel aromatic polyamides with pyrenylamine in the backbone were prepared from a newly synthesized dicarboxylic acid monomer, N,N‐di(4‐carboxyphenyl)‐1‐aminopyrene, and various aromatic diamines via the phosphorylation polyamidation technique. These polyamides were readily soluble in many organic solvents and could be solution‐cast into tough and amorphous films. They had useful levels of thermal stability with glass‐transition temperatures in the range of 276–342 °C and 10% weight loss temperatures in excess of 500 °C. The dilute N‐methyl‐2‐pyrrolidone (NMP) solutions of these polymers exhibited fluorescence maxima around 455–540 nm with quantum yields up to 56.9%. The polyamides also showed remarkable solvatochromism of the emission spectra. Their films showed reversible electrochemical oxidation and reduction accompanied by strong color changes from colorless neutral state to purple oxidized state and to yellow reduced state. The polyamide 4g containing the pyrenylamine units in both diacid and diamine sides exhibited easily accessible p‐ and n‐doped states, together with multicolored electrochromic behaviors. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Two new bio‐based diacylhydrazide monomers, namely, 4,4′‐(propane‐1,3‐diylbis(oxy))bis(3‐methoxybenzohydrazide) and 4,4′‐(propane‐1,3‐diylbis(oxy))bis(3,5‐dimethoxybenzohydrazide) were synthesized starting from lignin‐derived phenolic acids, namely, vanillic acid and syringic acid. A series of poly(amide imide)s was synthesized by polycondensation of these diacylhydrazide monomers with commercially available aromatic dianhydrides. Poly(amide imide)s showed inherent viscosity in the range 0.44–0.56 dL g?1 and exhibited good solubility in organic solvents. Poly(amide imide)s could be cast into transparent, flexible, and tough films from their N ,N‐dimethylacetamide solutions. Poly(amide imide)s showed 10% weight loss in the temperature range 340–364 °C indicating their good thermal stability. Glass transition temperature (T g) of poly(amide imides)s were measured by DSC and DMA which were in the range 201–223 °C and 214–248 °C, respectively. The T g values of poly(amide imide)s were dependent on the number methoxy substituents on aromatic rings of diacylhydrazide monomers. Molecular dynamics simulation studies revealed that chain rigidity is the dominant factor for observed trends in T g. © 2017 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. Sci., Part A: Polym. A dicarboxylic acid {1,1‐bis[4‐(4‐trimellitimidophenoxy)phenyl]‐1‐phenylethane ( II )} bearing two performed imide rings was prepared from the condensation of 1,1‐bis[4‐(4‐aminophenoxy)phenyl]‐1‐phenylethane and trimellitic anhydride in a 1/2 molar ratio. A novel family of poly(amide‐imide)s with inherent viscosities of 0.83–1.51 dL/g was prepared by triphenyl phosphite‐activated polycondensation from the diimide‐diacid II with various aromatic diamines in a medium consisting of N‐methyl‐2‐pyrrolidinone (NMP), pyridine, and calcium chloride. Because the 1,1,1‐triphenylethane group of II was unsymmetrical, most of the resulting polymers showed an amorphous nature and were readily soluble in polar solvents such as NMP and N,N‐dimethylacetamide. All the soluble poly(amide‐imide)s afforded tough, transparent, and flexible films, which had tensile strengths ranging from 88 to 102 MPa, elongations at break from 6 to 11%, and initial moduli from 2.23 to 2.71 GPa. The synthesized poly(amide‐imide)s possessed glass‐transition temperatures from 250 to 287 °C. The poly(amide‐imide)s exhibited excellent thermal stabilities and had 10% weight losses from 501 to 534 °C under a nitrogen atmosphere. Eleven bis(phenoxy) naphthalene-containing poly(amide-imide)s IIIa–k were synthesized by the direct polycondensation of 2,7-bis (4-aminophenoxy) naphthalene (DAPON) with various aromatic bis (trimellitimide)s IIa–k in N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone (NMP) using triphenyl phosphite and pyridine as condensing agents. Poly (amide-imide)s IIIa–k having inherent viscosities of 0.70–1.12 dL/g were obtained in quantitative yields. The polymers containing p-phenylene or bis(phenoxy) benzene units exhibited crystalline x-ray diffraction patterns. Most of the polymers were readily soluble in various solvents such as NMP, N, N-dimethylacetamide, dimethyl sulfoxide, m-cresol, o-chlorophenol, and pyridine, and gave transparent, and flexible films cast from DMAc solutions. Cast films showed obvious yield points in the stress-strain curves and had strength at break up to 87 MPa, elongation to break up to 11%, and initial modulus up to 2.10 GPa. These poly(amide-imide)s had glass transition temperatures in the range of 255–321°C, and the 10% weight loss temperatures were recorded in the range of 529–586°C in nitrogen. A series of novel poly(amine–amide–imide)s (PAAIs) based on tetraphenyl‐p‐phenylenediamine (TPPA) units showing anodically/cathodically electrochromic characteristic with three primary colors [red, green, and blue (RGB)] were prepared from the direct polycondensation of the TPPA‐based diamine monomer with various aromatic bis(trimellitimide)s. These multicolored electrochromic polymers were readily soluble in polar organic solvents and showed excellent thermal stability associated with high glass‐transition temperatures (288–314 °C) and high‐char yield (higher than 60% at 800 °C in nitrogen). The PAAI films revealed electrochemical oxidation and reduction accompanied with high contrast of optical transmittance color changes from the pale yellow neutral state to the green/blue oxidized state and red reduced state, respectively. The electrochromic films had high‐coloration efficiency (CE = 178 and 242 cm2/C at the first and the second stages, respectively), low‐switching time, and good redox stability, which still retained a high electroactivity after long‐term redox cycles. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A new triphenylamine‐containing aromatic diamine monomer, N,N‐bis(4‐aminophenyl)‐N,N′‐bis(4‐tert‐butylphenyl)‐1,4‐phenylenediamine, was synthesized by an established synthetic procedure from readily available reagents. A novel family of electroactive polyamides with di‐tert‐butyl‐substituted N,N,N,N′‐tetraphenyl‐1,4‐phenylenediamine units were prepared via the phosphorylation polyamidation reactions of the newly synthesized diamine monomer with various aromatic or aliphatic dicarboxylic acids. All the polymers were amorphous with good solubility in many organic solvents, such as N‐methyl‐2‐pyrrolidinone (NMP) and N,N‐dimethylacetamide, and could be solution‐cast into tough and flexible polymer films. The polyamides derived from aromatic dicarboxylic acids had useful levels of thermal stability, with glass‐transition temperatures of 269–296 °C, 10% weight‐loss temperatures in excess of 544 °C, and char yields at 800 °C in nitrogen higher than 62%. The dilute solutions of these polyamides in NMP exhibited strong absorption bands centered at 316–342 nm and photoluminescence maxima around 362–465 nm in the violet‐blue region. The polyamides derived from aliphatic dicarboxylic acids were optically transparent in the visible region and fluoresced with a higher quantum yield compared with those derived from aromatic dicarboxylic acids. The hole‐transporting and electrochromic properties were examined by electrochemical and spectro‐electrochemical methods. Cyclic voltammograms of the polyamide films cast onto an indium‐tin oxide‐coated glass substrate exhibited two reversible oxidation redox couples at 0.57–0.60 V and 0.95–0.98 V versus Ag/AgCl in acetonitrile solution. The polyamide films revealed excellent elcterochemical and electrochromic stability, with a color change from a colorless or pale yellowish neutral form to green and blue oxidized forms at applied potentials ranging from 0.0 to 1.2 V. These anodically coloring polymeric materials showed interesting electrochromic properties, such as high coloration efficiency (CE = 216 cm2/C for the green coloring) and high contrast ratio of optical transmittance change (ΔT%) up to 64% at 424 nm and 59% at 983 nm for the green coloration, and 90% at 778 nm for the blue coloration. The electroactivity of the polymer remains intact even after cycling 500 times between its neutral and fully oxidized states. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A series of phosphorus‐containing poly(1,3,4‐oxadiazole‐ester‐imide)s was prepared by polycondensation reaction of an aromatic dianhydride, namely 1,4‐[2‐(6‐oxido‐6H‐dibenz<c,e><1,2>oxaphosphorin‐6‐yl)]‐naphthalene‐bis(trimellitate)dianhydride, with different aromatic diamines containing 1,3,4‐oxadiazole ring. A solution imidization procedure was used to convert quantitatively the poly(amic acid) intermediates to the corresponding polyimides. The chemical structures of the monomers and polymers were confirmed by Fourier transform infrared, 1H NMR and 31P NMR spectroscopy. The polymers were easily soluble in polar solvents such as N‐methyl‐2‐pyrrolidone (NMP), N,N‐dimethylformamide and tetrahydrofuran. They exhibited good thermal properties having the decomposition temperature above 380°C and the glass transition temperature in the range of 201–232°C. Due to the presence of phosphorus the polymers gave high char yield in termogravimetric analysis, hence good flame retardant properties. Optical properties were analyzed in solution by using UV–vis and photoluminescence spectroscopy. Solutions of the polymers in NMP exhibited photoluminescence in the blue region. A new class of electroactive polyamides with ether‐linked bis(triphenylamine) [O(TPA)2] units were prepared through the direct phosphorylation polycondensation from N,N‐di(4‐aminophenyl)‐N′,N′‐diphenyl‐4,4′‐oxydianiline and aromatic dicarboxylic acids. These polyamides were amorphous with good solubility in many organic solvents, such as NMP and DMAc, and could be solution‐cast into strong and flexible polymer films. Their decomposition temperatures (Td) at a 10% weight‐loss in nitrogen and air were recorded at 556–568 °C and 537–555 °C, respectively. The glass‐transition temperatures (Tg) of all the polyamides were observed in the range of 218?253 °C by DSC.
