Index theory of geometric Fredholm operators on varieties with isolated singularities

It sometimes happens that geometric elliptic differential operators on a noncompact Riemannian manifold are Fredholm. The smooth parts of singular algebraic varieties provide examples of complete and incomplete manifolds where this can happen. The indices of such operators often provide topological or geometric information about the singular variety. This paper shows that the operators of the title represent K homology elements and solves the index problem for these operators by exhibiting equivalent K homology cycles in topological form.This material is based upon work supported by the National Science Foundation under Grant No. DMS-8501513.     

A new proof of <Emphasis Type="Italic">L</Emphasis><Superscript><Emphasis Type="Italic">p</Emphasis></Superscript> estimates for the parabolic polyharmonic equations

In this paper we obtain local L ^p estimates for the parabolic polyharmonic equations by a straightforward approach. On self-mapping degrees of <Emphasis Type="Italic">S</Emphasis><Superscript>3</Superscript>-geometry manifolds

In this paper we determined all of the possible self-mapping degrees of the manifolds with S3-geometry, which are supposed to be all 3-manifolds with finite fundamental groups. This is a part of a project to determine all possible self-mapping degrees of all closed orientable 3-manifold in Thurston＇s picture.     

Weighted Composition Operators of H∞ into α-Bloch Spaces on the Unit Ball

In this paper we characterize the boundedness and compactness of weighted composition operators of H∞ into α-Bloch spaces on the unit ball in C^n.     

Hardy spaces estimates for a class of multilinear homogeneous operators

It is proved that a class of multilinear singular integral operators with homogeneous kernels are bounded operators from the product spaces to the Hardy spacesH ^r , (ℝ ⁿ ) and the weak Hardy spaceH ^r,∞ (ℝ ⁿ . As an application of this result, the L ^p ,(ℝ ⁿ ) boundedness of a class of commutator for the singular integral with homogeneous kernels is obtained. <Emphasis Type="Italic">W</Emphasis><Superscript>1,<Emphasis Type="Italic">p</Emphasis></Superscript>(R<Superscript><Emphasis Type="Italic">n</Emphasis></Superscript>)-boundedness for maximal functions

In this paper, we get W ^1,p (R ⁿ )-boundedness for tangential maximal function and nontangential maximal function, which improves J.Kinnunen, P.Lindqvist and Tananka’s results. The <Emphasis Type="Italic">C</Emphasis><Superscript>α</Superscript> regularity of a class of non-homogeneous ultraparabolic equations

We obtain the C ^α regularity for weak solutions of a class of non-homogeneous ultraparabolic equation, with measurable coefficients. The result generalizes our recent C ^α regularity results of homogeneous ultraparabolic equations. This work was supported by National Natural Science Foundation of China (Grant No. 10325104)     

On the distribution of imaginary parts of zeros of the Riemann zeta function,II

We continue our investigation of the distribution of the fractional parts of αγ, where α is a fixed non-zero real number and γ runs over the imaginary parts of the non-trivial zeros of the Riemann zeta function. We establish some connections to Montgomery’s pair correlation function and the distribution of primes in short intervals. We also discuss analogous results for a more general L-function. Semicontinuous solutions for Hamilton-Jacobi equations and theL ∞control problem

We prove uniqueness for extended real-valued lower semicontinuous viscosity solutions of the Bellman equation forL -control problems. This result is then used to prove uniqueness for lsc solutions of Hamilton-Jacobi equations of the form –u _t +H(t, x, u, –Du)=0, whereH(t, x, r, p) is convex inp. The remaining assumptions onH in the variablesr andp extend the currently known results.Supported in part by Grant DMS-9300805 from the National Science Foundation.     

Convolution operator and maximal function for the Dunkl transform

For a family of weight functionsh _K invariant under a finite reflection group onR ^d, analysis related to the Dunkl transform is carried out for the weightedL ^p spaces. Making use of the generalized translation operator and the weighted convolution, we study the summability of the inverse Dunkl transform, including as examples the Poisson integrals and the Bochner-Riesz means. On <Emphasis Type="Italic">K</Emphasis>-groups of operator algebra on the 1-shift space

In this paper we discuss the K-groups of Wiener algebra ;W. For the 1-shift space XGM2,We obtain a characterization of Fredholm operators on X^nGM2 for all n ∈ N. We also calculate the K-groups of operator algebra on the 1-shift space XGM2.     

Graded Modules Over the q-Analog Virasoro-Like Algebra

In this paper, we deal with the classification of the irreducible Z-graded and Z ²-graded modules with finite dimensional homogeneous subspaces for the q analog Virasoro-like algebra L. We first prove that a Z-graded L-module must be a uniformly bounded module or a generalized highest weight module. Then we show that an irreducible generalized highest weight Z-graded module with finite dimensional homogeneous subspaces must be a highest (or lowest) weight module and give a necessary and sufficient condition for such a module with finite dimensional homogeneous subspaces. We use the Z-graded modules to construct a class of Z ²-graded irreducible generalized highest weight modules with finite dimensional homogeneous subspaces. Finally, we classify the Z ²-graded L-modules. We first prove that a Z ²-graded module must be either a uniformly bounded module or a generalized highest weight module. Then we prove that an irreducible nontrivial Z ²-graded module with finite dimensional homogeneous subspaces must be isomorphic to a module constructed as above. As a consequence, we also classify the irreducible Z-graded modules and the irreducible Z ²-graded modules with finite dimensional homogeneous subspaces and center acting nontrivial. Boundedness of commutators on homogeneous Herz spaces

The boundedness on homogeneous Herz spaces is established for a large class of linear commutators generated by BMO(R ⁿ ) functions and linear operators of rough kernels which include the Calderón-Zygmund operators and the Ricci-Stein oRfiUatory singular integrals with rough kernels. Spectral invariance of smooth crossed products, and rapid decay locally compact groups

We show that all rapid-decay locally compact groups are unimodular and that the set of rapid-decay functions on a locally compact rapidly decaying group forms a dense and spectral invariant Fréchet *-subalgebra of the reduced group C ^*-algebra. In general, the set of rapid-decay functions on a locally compact strongly rapid-decay group with values in a commutative C ^*-algebra forms a dense and spectral invariant Fréchet *-subalgebra of the twisted crossed product C ^*-algebra. The spectral invariance property implies that the K-theories of both algebras are naturally isomorphic under inclusion.This project is supported in part by the National Science Foundation Grant #DMS 92-04005.     

Convergence of Newton‘’s Method and Uniqueness of the Solution of Equations in Banach SpacesⅡ

Some results on convergence of Newton‘s method in Banach spaces are established under the assumption that the derivative of the opderators satisfies the radius or center Lipschitz condition with a weak L average.

Generalized Polar Decompositions for Closed Operators in Hilbert Spaces and Some Applications

We study generalized polar decompositions of densely defined closed linear operators in Hilbert spaces and provide some applications to relatively (form) bounded and relatively (form) compact perturbations of self-adjoint, normal, and m-sectorial operators. Nonconforming <Emphasis Type="Italic">H</Emphasis><Superscript>1</Superscript>-Galerkin mixed FEM for Sobolev equations on anisotropic meshes

A nonconforming H^1-Calerkin mixed finite element method is analyzed for Sobolev equations on anisotropic meshes. The error estimates are obtained without using Ritz-Volterra projection.     

Mapping Surgery to Analysis I: Analytic Signatures

We develop the theory of analytically controlled Poincaré complexes over C ^*-algebras. We associate a signature in C ^*-algebra K-theory to such a complex, and we show that it is invariant under bordism and homotopy. The authors were supported in part by NSF Grant DMS-0100464.
