It sometimes happens that geometric elliptic differential operators on a noncompact Riemannian manifold are Fredholm. The smooth parts of singular algebraic varieties provide examples of complete and incomplete manifolds where this can happen. The indices of such operators often provide topological or geometric information about the singular variety. This paper shows that the operators of the title represent K homology elements and solves the index problem for these operators by exhibiting equivalent K homology cycles in topological form.This material is based upon work supported by the National Science Foundation under Grant No. DMS-8501513.  相似文献

In this paper we determined all of the possible self-mapping degrees of the manifolds with S3-geometry, which are supposed to be all 3-manifolds with finite fundamental groups. It is proved that a class of multilinear singular integral operators with homogeneous kernels are bounded operators from the product spaces to the Hardy spacesH r , (ℝ n ) and the weak Hardy spaceH r,∞ (ℝ n . As an application of this result, the L p ,(ℝ n ) boundedness of a class of commutator for the singular integral with homogeneous kernels is obtained. We continue our investigation of the distribution of the fractional parts of αγ, where α is a fixed non-zero real number and γ runs over the imaginary parts of the non-trivial zeros of the Riemann zeta function. We establish some connections to Montgomery’s pair correlation function and the distribution of primes in short intervals. We also discuss analogous results for a more general L-function. We prove uniqueness for extended real-valued lower semicontinuous viscosity solutions of the Bellman equation forL -control problems. This result is then used to prove uniqueness for lsc solutions of Hamilton-Jacobi equations of the form –u t +H(t, x, u, –Du)=0, whereH(t, x, r, p) is convex inp. For a family of weight functionsh K invariant under a finite reflection group onR d, analysis related to the Dunkl transform is carried out for the weightedL p spaces. Making use of the generalized translation operator and the weighted convolution, we study the summability of the inverse Dunkl transform, including as examples the Poisson integrals and the Bochner-Riesz means. In this paper, we deal with the classification of the irreducible Z-graded and Z 2-graded modules with finite dimensional homogeneous subspaces for the q analog Virasoro-like algebra L. We first prove that a Z-graded L-module must be a uniformly bounded module or a generalized highest weight module. Then we show that an irreducible generalized highest weight Z-graded module with finite dimensional homogeneous subspaces must be a highest (or lowest) weight module and give a necessary and sufficient condition for such a module with finite dimensional homogeneous subspaces. We use the Z-graded modules to construct a class of Z 2-graded irreducible generalized highest weight modules with finite dimensional homogeneous subspaces. Finally, we classify the Z 2-graded L-modules. We first prove that a Z 2-graded module must be either a uniformly bounded module or a generalized highest weight module. Then we prove that an irreducible nontrivial Z 2-graded module with finite dimensional homogeneous subspaces must be isomorphic to a module constructed as above. As a consequence, we also classify the irreducible Z-graded modules and the irreducible Z 2-graded modules with finite dimensional homogeneous subspaces and center acting nontrivial. We show that all rapid-decay locally compact groups are unimodular and that the set of rapid-decay functions on a locally compact rapidly decaying group forms a dense and spectral invariant Fréchet *-subalgebra of the reduced group C *-algebra. In general, the set of rapid-decay functions on a locally compact strongly rapid-decay group with values in a commutative C *-algebra forms a dense and spectral invariant Fréchet *-subalgebra of the twisted crossed product C *-algebra.
