We introduce anti-invariant Riemannian submersions from almost Hermitian manifolds onto Riemannian manifolds. We give an example, investigate the geometry of foliations which are arisen from the definition of a Riemannian submersion and check the harmonicity of such submersions. We also find necessary and sufficient conditions for a Langrangian Riemannian submersion, a special anti-invariant Riemannian submersion, to be totally geodesic. Moreover, we obtain decomposition theorems for the total manifold of such submersions.  相似文献

As a generalization of slant submersions [18], semi-slant submersions [15], and slant Riemannian maps [21], we define the notion of semi-slant Riemannian maps from almost Hermitian manifolds to Riemannian manifolds. We study the integrability of distributions, the geometry of fibers, the harmonicity of such maps, etc. We also find a condition for such maps to be totally geodesic and investigate some decomposition theorems. The aim of the present paper is to define and study semi-slant \(\xi ^\perp \)-Riemannian submersions from Sasakian manifolds onto Riemannian manifolds as a generalization of anti-invariant \(\xi ^\perp \)-Riemannian submersions, semi-invariant \(\xi ^\perp \)-Riemannian submersions and slant Riemannian submersions. We obtain characterizations, investigate the geometry of foliations which arise from the definition of this new submersion. After we investigate the geometry of foliations, we obtain necessary and sufficient condition for base manifold to be a locally product manifold and proving new conditions to be totally umbilical and totally geodesicness, respectively. Moreover, some examples of such submersions are mentioned.  相似文献

Let be an isometric immersion between Riemannian manifolds and be the unit normal bundle of f. We discuss two natural Riemannian metrics on the total space and necessary and sufficient conditions on f for the projection map to be a harmonic morphism. We show that the projection map of the unit normal bundle of a minimal surface in a Riemannian manifold is a harmonic morphism with totally geodesic fibres. Received: 6 February 1999  相似文献

Given a compact symmetric space, M, we obtain the mean exit time function from a principal orbit, for a Brownian particle starting and moving in a generalized ball whose boundary is the principal orbit. We also obtain the mean exit time flmction of a tube of radius r around special totally geodesic submanifolds P of M. Finally we give a comparison result for the mean exit time function of tubes around submanifolds in Riemannian manifolds, using these totally geodesic submanifolds in compact symmetric spaces as a model.  相似文献

We establish a Weitzenböck formula for harmonic morphismsbetween Riemannian manifolds and show that under suitable curvatureconditions, such a map is totally geodesic. As an applicationof the Weitzenböck formula we obtain some non-existenceresults of a global nature for harmonic morphisms and totallygeodesic horizontally conformal maps between compact Riemannianmanifolds. In particular, it is shown that the only harmonicmorphisms from a Riemannian symmetric space of compact typeto a compact Riemann surface of genus at least 1 are the constantmaps.  相似文献

We prove that a totally geodesic map between a Riemannian manifold and a metric space can be represented as the composite of a totally geodesic map from a Riemannian manifold to a Finslerian manifold and a locally isometric embedding between metric spaces. As a corollary, we obtain the homotheticity of a totally geodesic map from an irreducible Riemannian manifold to an Alexandrov space of curvature bounded above. This is a generalization of the case between Riemannian manifolds. In this paper, we generalize geodesic $E$-convex function and define geodesic $\gamma$-pre-$E$-convex and geodesic $\gamma$-$E$-convex functions on Riemannian manifolds. The sufficient condition of equivalence class of geodesic $\gamma$-pre-$E$-convexity and geodesic $\gamma$-$E$-convexity for differentiable function on Riemannian manifolds is studied. We discuss the sufficient condition for $E$-epigraph to be geodesic $E$-convex set. At the end, we establish some optimality results with the aid of geodesic $\gamma$-pre-$E$-convex and geodesic $\gamma$-$E$-convex functions and discuss the mean value inequality for geodesic $\gamma$-pre-$E$-convex function.  相似文献

In this paper, we introduce the notion of screen pseudo-slant lightlike submanifolds of indefinite Sasakian manifolds giving characterization theorem with some non-trivial examples of such submanifolds. Integrability conditions of distributions D 1, D 2 and RadTM on screen pseudo-slant lightlike submanifolds of indefinite Sasakian manifolds have been obtained. Further, we obtain necessary and sufficient conditions for foliations determined by above distributions to be totally geodesic. We present the notion of weakly metrically regular functions on manifolds. Then, a sufficient condition for a real valued function defined on a complete Riemannian manifold to be weakly metrically regular is obtained, and two optimization problems on Riemannian manifolds are considered. Moreover, we present a generalization of the Palais–Smale condition for lower semicontinuous functions defined on manifolds. Then, we use this notion to obtain necessary conditions of optimality for a general minimization problem on complete Riemannian manifolds.  相似文献

In this paper, we introduce horizontal and vertical warped product Finsler manifolds. We prove that every C-reducible or proper Berwaldian doubly warped product Finsler manifold is Riemannian. Then, we find the relation between Riemannian curvatures of doubly warped product Finsler manifold and its components, and consider the cases that this manifold is flat or has scalar flag curvature. We define the doubly warped Sasaki-Matsumoto metric for warped product manifolds and find a condition under which the horizontal and vertical tangent bundles are totally geodesic. We obtain some conditions under which a foliated manifold reduces to a Reinhart manifold. Finally, we study an almost complex structure on the tangent bundle of a doubly warped product Finsler manifold.  相似文献

Nonlinear versions of Bismut type formulas for the differential of a harmonic map between Riemannian manifolds are used to establish a priori estimates for harmonic maps. A variety of Liouville type theorems is shown to follow as corollaries from such estimates by exhausting the domain through an increasing sequence of geodesic balls. This probabilistic method is well suited for proving sharp estimates under various curvature conditions. We discuss Liouville theorems for harmonic maps under the following conditions: small image, sublinear growth, non-positively curved targets, generalized bounded dilatation, Liouville manifolds as domains, certain asymptotic behaviour.  相似文献

In this paper, we use heat flow method to prove the existence of pseudo-harmonic maps from closed pseudo-Hermitian manifolds to Riemannian manifolds with nonpositive sectional curvature, which is a generalization of Eells–Sampson’s existence theorem. Furthermore, when the target manifold has negative sectional curvature, we analyze horizontal energy of geometric homotopy of two pseudo-harmonic maps and obtain that if the image of a pseudo-harmonic map is neither a point nor a closed geodesic, then it is the unique pseudo-harmonic map in the given homotopic class. This is a generalization of Hartman’s theorem.  相似文献

We show how Alesker’s theory of valuations on manifolds gives rise to an algebraic picture of the integral geometry of any Riemannian isotropic space. We then apply this method to give a thorough account of the integral geometry of the complex space forms, i.e. complex projective space, complex hyperbolic space and complex Euclidean space. In particular, we compute the family of kinematic formulas for invariant valuations and invariant curvature measures in these spaces. In addition to new and more efficient framings of the tube formulas of Gray and the kinematic formulas of Shifrin, this approach yields a new formula expressing the volumes of the tubes about a totally real submanifold in terms of its intrinsic Riemannian structure. We also show by direct calculation that the Lipschitz-Killing valuations stabilize the subspace of invariant angular curvature measures, suggesting the possibility that a similar phenomenon holds for all Riemannian manifolds. We conclude with a number of open questions and conjectures.  相似文献

We consider compact smooth foliated manifolds with leaves isometrically covered by a fixed symmetric space of noncompact type. Such objects can be considered as compact models for the geometry of the symmetric space. Based on this we formulate and solve a geometric superrigidity problem for foliations that seeks the existence of suitable isometric totally geodesic immersions. To achieve this we consider the heat flow equation along the leaves of a foliation, a Bochner formula on foliations and a geometric invariant for foliations with leafwise Riemannian metrics called the stretch. We obtain as applications a metric rigidity theorem for foliations and a rigidity type result for Riemannian manifolds whose geometry is only partially symmetric.

In this paper, we study the impact of geodesic vector fields (vector fields whose trajectories are geodesics) on the geometry of a Riemannian manifold. Since, Killing vector fields of constant lengths on a Riemannian manifold are geodesic vector fields, leads to the question of finding sufficient conditions for a geodesic vector field to be Killing. In this paper, we show that a lower bound on the Ricci curvature of the Riemannian manifold in the direction of geodesic vector field gives a sufficient condition for the geodesic vector field to be Killing. Also, we use a geodesic vector field on a 3-dimensional complete simply connected Riemannian manifold to find sufficient conditions to be isometric to a 3-sphere. We find a characterization of an Einstein manifold using a Killing vector field. Finally, it has been observed that a major source of geodesic vector fields is provided by solutions of Eikonal equations on a Riemannian manifold and we obtain a characterization of the Euclidean space using an Eikonal equation.  相似文献
