Let \mathfrakA\mathfrak{A} be a normed algebra with identity, Ω be a locally compact Hausdorf space and λ be a positive Radon measure on Ω with supp(λ) = Ω. In this paper, we establish a necessary and sufficient condition for L 1(Ω, \mathfrakA\mathfrak{A}) to be an algebra with pointwise multiplication. Under this condition, we then characterize compact and weakly compact left multipliers on L 1(Ω, \mathfrakA\mathfrak{A}).  相似文献

The subfamilyR(p, Ω) of the class of second order, uniformly elliptic, non variational operators L with bounded measurable coefficients, such that L(W2, p (Ω)) is dense in Lp (Ω), is studied. We consider finite element methods applied to a class of Sobolev equations inR d(d ≥ 1). Global strong superconvergence, which only requires that partitions are quais-uniform, is investigated for the error between the approximate solution and the Ritz-Sobolev projection of the exact solution. Two order superconvergence results are demonstrated inW 1,p (Ω) andL p(Ω) for 2 ≤p < ∞.  相似文献

Lower semicontinuity for polyconvex functionals of the form ∫Ω g(detDu)dx with respect to sequences of functions fromW 1,n (Ω;ℝ n ) which converge inL 1 (Ωℝ n ) and are uniformly bounded inW 1,n−1 (Ω;ℝ n ), is proved. This was first established in [5] using results from [1] on Cartesian Currents. We give a simple direct proof which does not involve currents. We also show how the method extends to prove natural, essentially optimal, generalizations of these results. In this paper, we present a necessary and sufficient condition for the existence of solutions in a Sobolev space Wpk(ℝs) (1≤p≤∞) to a vector refinement equation with a general dilation matrix. The criterion is constructive and can be implemented. Rate of convergence of vector cascade algorithms in a Sobolev space Wpk(ℝs) will be investigated. When the dilation matrix is isotropic, a characterization will be given for the Lp (1≤p≤∞) critical smoothness exponent of a refinable function vector without the assumption of stability on the refinable function vector. As a consequence, we show that if a compactly supported function vector φ∈Lp(ℝs) (φ∈C(ℝs) when p=∞) satisfies a refinement equation with a finitely supported matrix mask, then all the components of φ must belong to a Lipschitz space Lip(ν,Lp(ℝs)) for some ν>0. This paper generalizes the results in R.Q. Jia, K.S. Lau and D.X. Zhou (J. Fourier Anal. Appl. 7 (2001) 143–167) in the univariate setting to the multivariate setting.  This paper considers the dual of anisotropic Sobolev spaces on any stratified groups 𝔾. For 0≤k<m and every linear bounded functional T on anisotropic Sobolev space W m−k,p (Ω) on Ω⊂𝔾, we derive a projection operator L from W m,p (Ω) to the collection 𝒫 k+1 of polynomials of degree less than k+1 such that T(X I (Lu))=T(X I u) for all uW m,p (Ω) and multi-index I with d(I)≤k. We then prove a general Poincaré inequality involving this operator L and the linear functional T. As applications, we often choose a linear functional T such that the associated L is zero and consequently we can prove Poincaré inequalities of special interests. In particular, we obtain Poincaré inequalities for functions vanishing on tiny sets of positive Bessel capacity on stratified groups. Finally, we derive a Hedberg-Wolff type characterization of measures belonging to the dual of the fractional anisotropic Sobolev spaces W α,p 𝔾. Weighted Lp estimates (1<p<∞) are shown for oscillatory singular integral operators with polynomial phase and a rough kernel of the form eiP(x,y)Ω(x−y)h(|x−y|)|x−y|−n. We assume that Ω∈L logL(Sn−1) is homogeneous of degree zero and ∫Sn-1Ω=0. The radial factor h has bounded variation. This note deals with the orthogonality between sequences of random variables. The main idea of the note is to apply the results on equidistant systems of points in a Hilbert space to the case of the space L 2(Ω, F, ℙ) of real square integrable random variables. The main result gives a necessary and sufficient condition for a particular sequence of random variables (elements of which are taken from sets of equidistant elements of L 2(Ω, F, ℙ) to be orthogonal to some other sequence in L 2(Ω, F, ℙ). The result obtained is interesting from the point of view of the time series analysis, since it can be applied to a class of sequences random variables that exhibit a monotonically increasing variance. An application to ergodic theorem is also provided.  相似文献

Exact controllability means that there exist a timeT>0 and a controlv such thaty(T, v)=y′(T, v)=0. The commutators of singular integral operators with homogeneous kernel Ω(x)/|x|^n are studied, where Ω is homogeneous of degree zero, and has mean value zero on the unit sphere. A new proof is given for a theorem by V. G. Maz'ya. It gives a necessary and sufficient condition on the open set Ω inR N for the functions inW 0 m,p (Ω) to have the ordinary norm equivalent to the norm obtained when including only the highest order derivatives in the definition. We prove the convergence inL 1([−gp, π)2)-norm of the double Fourier series of an integrable functionf(x, y) which is periodic and even with respect tox andy, with coefficientsa jk satisfying certain conditions of Hardy-Karamata kind, and such thata jk logj logk→0 asj, k→∞. These sufficient conditions become quite natural in particular cases. Then we extend these results to the convergence of double Walsh-Fourier series inL 1 (0, 1)2)- norm. As a by-product, we obtain Tauberian conditions ensuring the convergence of a double numerical series provided it is Cesàro summable.
