A boundary value problem for Laplace’s equation in a bounded domain with two small holes is considered. Third-type boundary conditions are set on the boundaries of the holes. A Neumann condition is specified on the outer boundary of the domain. A uniform asymptotic approximation of the solution is constructed and justified up to an arbitrary power of a small parameter.  相似文献

A boundary-value problem of finding eigenvalues is considered for the negative Laplace operator in a disk with Neumann boundary condition on almost all the circle except for a small arc of vanishing length, where the Dirichlet boundary condition is imposed. A complete asymptotic expansion with respect to a parameter (the length of the small arc) is constructed for an eigenvalue of this problem that converges to a double eigenvalue of the Neumann problem.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider eigenvalue problems for the Laplace operator in three-dimensional domains with singularly perturbed boundary. Perturbations are generated by a complementary Dirichlet boundary condition on a small nonclosed surface inside the domain. The convergence and the asymptotic behavior of simple eigenvalues of the problem are considered.__________Translated from Matematicheskie Zametki, vol. 78, no. 2, 2005, pp. 299–307.Original Russian Text Copyright © 2005 by M. In this paper, the method of matching asymptotic expansions is used to construct an asymptotics (in a small parameter) of the eigenvalues and eigenfunctions of the Laplace operator in a domain when the boundary-condition type changes on a narrow flattened strip, provided that on the narrow strip of the boundary a Neumann condition is given and on the remaining part of the boundary a Dirichlet condition is given. The width of the strip is taken as the small parameter.  相似文献

A problem of transient heat conduction in an insulated wire is solved by use of Laplace transform and numerical inversion. The problem is solved for the radiation boundary condition and also for the boundary condition of no heat flux through the outer surface of the insulation. The results are presented both numerically with four significant figures and graphically. Asymptotic expansions are derived for small and large values of the time variable. The numerical inversion of the Laplace transform is checked by comparison with the asymptotic expansions and with the numerical results obtained by a numerical inversion formula utilizing one more abscissa than the previous one.  相似文献

When one uses high-order finite difference schemes for the wave equation, for instance fourth order schemes, the treatment of boundary conditions poses a real difficulty since one needs several additional equations (for the nodes close to the boundary), while one single scalar boundary condition is available. In the case of perfectly reflecting boundary conditions, namely the homogeneous Neumann or Dirichlet conditions, this difficulty can be overcomed by the use of the well-known image principle, which permits the extension of the equation outside of the domain of calculation by an appropriate symmetrization of the data. We propose in this article a generalization of this principle to the absorbing boundary conditions. Through a symmetrization process, we are led to introduce a damped wave equation with a damping term supported by the boundary. The treatment of the boundary condition is then replaced by the approximation of this new damped wave equation in the whole space. The theoretical justification of our approach is based on new energy estimates for the wave equation (when high-order absorbing boundary conditions are used), and constitutes an alternative to the use of the well-known Kreiss criterion to prove the stability of the associated initial boundary value problems. © 1994 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

We consider a boundary value problem for the Laplace operator in a model domain periodically perforated along the boundary. We assume that the homogeneous Neumann condition is posed on the exterior boundary and the homogeneous Dirichlet condition is posed on the boundary of the cavities. We construct and justify the asymptotic expansions of eigenelements of the boundary value problem.  相似文献

We consider a singularly perturbed boundary-value eigenvalue problem for the Laplace operator in a cylinder with rapidly alternating type of the boundary condition on the lateral surface. The change of the boundary conditions is realized by splitting the lateral surface into many narrow strips on which the Dirichlet and Neumann conditions alternate. We study the case in which the averaged problem contains the Dirichlet boundary condition on the lateral surface. In the case of strips with slowly varying width we construct the first terms of the asymptotic expansions of eigenfunctions; moreover, in the case of strips with rapidly varying width we obtain estimates for the convergence rate.  相似文献

A spectral problem for the Laplace operator is considered in a domain with singular density near the boundary (with concentrated masses). The boundary condition is of rapidly variable type. We construct asymptotic expansions for the eigenvalues and eigenfunctions of the problem with respect to a small parameter characterizing the diameter and density of masses, as well as distance between the masses. The expansions are justified. Bibliography: 59 titles. Illustrations: 3 figures.__________Translated from Problemy Matematicheskogo Analiza, No. 30, 2005, pp. 87–119.  相似文献

Ventcel boundary conditions are second order differential conditions that appear in asymptotic models. Like Robin boundary conditions, they lead to well-posed variational problems under a sign condition of the coefficient. This is achieved when physical situations are considered. Nevertheless, situations where this condition is violated appeared in several recent works where absorbing boundary conditions or equivalent boundary conditions on rough surfaces are sought for numerical purposes. The well-posedness of such problems was recently investigated: up to a countable set of parameters, existence and uniqueness of the solution for the Ventcel boundary value problem holds without the sign condition. However, the values to be avoided depend on the domain where the boundary value problem is set. In this work, we address the question of the persistency of the solvability of the boundary value problem under domain deformation.  相似文献

An approximate analytical solution for the one-dimensional problem of heat transfer between an inert gas and a porous semi-infinite medium is presented. Perturbation methods based on Laplace transforms have been applied using the solid thermal conductivity as small parameter. The leading order approximation is the solution of Nusselt (or Schumann) problem. Such solution is corrected by means of an outer approximation. The boundary condition at the origin has been taking into account using an inner approximation for a boundary layer. The gas temperature presents a discontinuous front (due to the incompatibility between initial and boundary conditions) which propagates at constant velocity. The solid temperature at the front has been smoothed out using an internal layer asymptotic approximation. The good accuracy of the resulting asymptotic expansion shows its usefulness in several engineering problems such as heat transfer in porous media, in exhausted chemical reactions, mass transfer in packed beds, or in the analysis of capillary electrochromatography techniques.  相似文献

We consider a problem of optimal control through a part of the boundary of solutions to an elliptic equation in a bounded domain with smooth boundary with a small parameter at the Laplace operator and integral constraints on the control. A complete asymptotic expansion of the solution to this problems in powers of the small parameter is constructed.  相似文献

In this paper we study the asymptotic behaviour of the Laplace equation in a periodically perforated domain of R n , where we assume that the period is ε and the size of the holes is of the same order of greatness. An homogeneous Dirichlet condition is given on the whole exterior boundary of the domain and on a flat portion of diameter if (, if n=2) of the boundary of every hole, while we take an homogeneous Neumann condition elsewhere.  相似文献

In this paper, we use the Bloch wave method to study the asymptotic behavior of the solution of the Laplace equation in a periodically perforated domain, under a non-homogeneous Neumann condition on the boundary of the holes, as the size of the holes goes to zero more rapidly than the domain period. This method allows to prove that, when the hole size exceeds a given threshold, the non-homogeneous boundary condition generates an additional term in the homogenized problem, commonly referred to as “the strange term” in the literature.  相似文献

We study a spectral problem related to the Laplace operator in a singularly perturbed periodic waveguide. The waveguide is a quasi-cylinder which contains a periodic arrangement of inclusions. On the boundary of the waveguide, we consider both Neumann and Dirichlet conditions. We prove that provided the diameter of the inclusion is small enough the spectrum of Laplace operator contains band gaps, i.e. there are frequencies that do not propagate through the waveguide. The existence of the band gaps is verified using the asymptotic analysis of elliptic operators.  相似文献

The simulation of wave phenomena in unbounded domains generally requires an artificial boundary to truncate the unbounded exterior and limit the computation to a finite region. At the artificial boundary a boundary condition is then needed, which allows the propagating waves to exit the computational domain without spurious reflection. In 1977, Engquist and Majda proposed the first hierarchy of absorbing boundary conditions, which allows a systematic reduction of spurious reflection without moving the artificial boundary farther away from the scatterer. Their pioneering work, which initiated an entire research area, is reviewed here from a modern perspective. Recent developments such as high-order local conditions and their extension to multiple scattering are also presented. Finally, the accuracy of high-order local conditions is demonstrated through numerical experiments.  相似文献

In this work, we consider the problem of a half space in the context of the theory of generalized thermoelasticity with one relaxation time. Realistically, the boundary conditions of the problem are considered to be stochastic. Laplace transform technique is used to solve the problem. The boundary conditions are considered to be of a type white noise. The inverse transforms are obtained in an approximate manner using asymptotic expansions valid for small values of time. Numerical results are given and represented graphically. Finally, a comparison with the ideal case when the boundary conditions are deterministic is carried out.  相似文献
