Using time‐of‐flight mass spectrometry (TOFMS), laser‐induced photochemistry of ethyl bromide clusters has been investigated at three different wavelengths (viz. 266, 355 and 532 nm) utilizing nanosecond laser pulses of ~5 × 109 W/cm2. An interesting finding of the present work is the observation of multiply charged atomic ions of carbon and bromine at 355 and 532 nm, arising from the Coulomb explosion of (C2H5Br)n clusters. At 266 nm, however, the (C2H5Br)n clusters were found to exhibit the usual multiphoton dissociation/ionization behaviour. The TOFMS studies are complemented by measuring the total charge density of the ionized volume at 266, 355 and 532 nm, using the parallel plate method, and the charge densities were found to be ~2 × 109, 6 × 109 and 2 × 1011 charges/cm3, respectively. The significantly higher charge density and the presence of energetic, multiply charged atomic ions at 532 nm are explained by the higher ponderomotive energy of the 532 nm photon, coupled with the Coulomb stability of the residual multiply charged ethyl bromide clusters generated upon laser irradiation, due to their larger effective cluster size at 532 nm than at 355 and 266 nm. Radical cations of trans-stilbene and substituted trans-stilbenes (stilbenes and the radical cations denote Sand S(*+), respectively) were generated from the resonant two-photon ionization (TPI) in acetonitrile with irradiation of one-laser (266- or 355-nm laser) and with simultaneous irradiation of two-color two-lasers (266- and 532-nm or 355- and 532-nm lasers) with the pulse width of 5 ns each. The formation yields of S(*+), the TPI efficiency, depended on the properties of S in the lowest and higher singlet excited state (S(S(1)) and S(S(n))), generated from one-photon excitation with 266- or 355-nm laser and from two-photon excitation with simultaneous irradiation of 266- and 532-nm or 355- and 532-nm lasers, respectively. The TPI efficiency using two-color two-lasers increased compared with that using one-laser. It is confirmed that the TPI proceeds through two-step two-photon excitation with the S(0) --> S(1) --> S(n)() transition. In addition to the electronic character of S(S(0)) which depends on the substituent of S, oxidation potential, and molar absorption coefficient of the S(0) --> S(1) absorption as well-known important factors for the TPI efficiency, it is shown that properties of S(S(1)) and S(S(n)) such as lifetimes, electronic characters of S(S(1)) and S(S(n)), molar absorption coefficient of the S(1) --> S(n) absorption, and ionization rate from S(S(n)) are also important.  相似文献

The experiments described here demonstrate the use of two-photon excitation (TPE) to sensitize nitric oxide (NO) release from a dye-derivatized iron/sulfur/nitrosyl cluster Fe2(mu-RS)2(NO)4 (Fluor-RSE, RS = 2-thioethyl ester of fluorescein) with near-infrared (NIR) light in the form of femtosecond pulses from a Ti:sapphire laser. TPE at 800 nm leads both to weak fluorescence from the organic chromophore at lambda(max) = 532 nm and to NO labilization from the cluster. Since the emission from the reference compound Fluor-Et (the ethyl ester of fluorescein) under identical conditions (50/50 CH3CN/phosphate buffer (1 mM) at pH 7.4) is considerably more intense, the weaker emission from Fluor-RSE and the NO generation indicate that the fluorescein excited states initially formed by TPE are largely quenched by energy transfer to the cluster core. The two-photon absorption (TPA) cross section of Fluor-RSE at 800 nm was determined to be delta = 63 +/- 7 GM via the TPA photoluminescence technique. This can be compared to the TPA cross section of 36 GM reported for fluorescein dye in pH 11 aqueous solution and of 32 +/- 3 GM for Fluor-Et measured under conditions comparable to those used for Fluor-RSE. Pulse intensity dependence studies showed that the quantity of NO released from the latter as the result of NIR photoexcitation follows a quadratic relationship to excitation intensity, consistent with the expectation for a TPE process. These studies demonstrate the potential utility of a two-photon antenna for sensitization of the photochemical release of an active agent (in this case, NO) from a photoactive pro-drug.  相似文献

The combination of remote/standoff sensing and laser-induced fluorescence (LIF) spectroscopy shows potential for detection of uranyl (UO2(2+)) compounds. Uranyl compounds exhibit characteristic emission in the 450-600 nm (22,200 to 16,700 cm(-1)) spectral region when excited by wavelengths in the ultraviolet or in the short-wavelength portion of the visible spectrum. We report a parametric study of the effects of excitation wavelength [including 532 nm (18,797 cm(-1)), 355 nm (28,169 cm(-1)), and 266 nm (37,594 cm(-1))] and excitation laser power on solid-state uranium compounds. The uranium compounds investigated include uranyl nitrate, uranyl sulfate, uranyl oxalate, uranium dioxide, triuranium octaoxide, uranyl acetate, uranyl formate, zinc uranyl acetate, and uranyl phosphate. We observed the characteristic uranyl fluorescence spectrum from the uranium compounds except for uranium oxide compounds (which do not contain the uranyl moiety) and for uranyl formate, which has a low fluorescence quantum yield. Relative uranyl fluorescence intensity is greatest for 355 nm excitation, and the order of decreasing fluorescence intensity with excitation wavelength (relative intensity/laser output) is 355 nm > 266 nm > 532 nm. For 532 nm excitation, the emission spectrum is produced by two-photon excitation. Uranyl fluorescence intensity increases linearly with increasing laser power, but the rate of fluorescence intensity increase is different for different emission bands.  相似文献

[reaction: see text] Two-photon induced Wolff rearrangement of a terphenyl diazoketone 1 was achieved by using focused laser pulses of 532 nm from a Q-switched Nd:YAG laser. The nonfluorescent terphenyl diazoketone 1 was transformed into a fluorescent ester derivative 4, which can be detected in situ using the focused laser pulses at 532 nm. Laser power dependence studies show that the Wolff rearrangement is induced by two-photon absorption of the terphenyl diazoketone 1, but suggests that more than two photons of 532 nm are involved (a multiphoton process) in excitation of the ester derivative 4.  相似文献

The photophysical properties of the complex (L)Ir(ppy)(2)(+), where ppy = 2-phenylpyridine and L = 4,4'-(2,2'-bipyridine-5,5'-diylbis(ethyne-2,1-diyl))bis(N,N-dihexylaniline), have been investigated under one- and two-photon excitation conditions. In THF solution, the complex exhibits broad ground-state absorption with lambda(max) approximately 500 nm and weak photoluminescence with lambda(max) approximately 730 nm. Excitation of (L)Ir(ppy)(2)(+) at 355 nm produces a long-lived excited state (tau approximately 1 mus) that features a strong excited-state absorption in the near-infrared (lambda(max) approximately 875 nm, Deltaepsilon approximately 6.1 x 10(4) M(-1) cm(-1)). Photoluminescence and transient absorption studies of (L)Ir(ppy)(2)(+) carried out using 5 ns, 1064 nm pulsed excitation demonstrate that the same long-lived and strongly absorbing excited state can be efficiently produced by two-photon absorption. Solutions of the complex in THF display nonlinear absorption of 5 ns, 1064 nm pulses in a process that is believed to involve a combination of two-photon absorption and reverse saturable absorption.  相似文献

Microchip electrophoresis (MCE) with native fluorescence detection has been applied for the fast quantitative analysis of pharmaceutical formulations. For this purpose, methods for fast separation and sensitive detection of the unlabeled diuretic drugs, amiloride, triamterene, bendroflumethiazide (BFMTZ), and bumetanide were developed. An epifluorescence setup was used enabling the coupling of different lasers into a commercial fluorescence microscope. The detection sensitivity of different excitation light sources was compared utilizing either a HeCd laser (lambda(exc) = 325 nm), a frequency quadrupled Nd:YAG laser (lambda(exc) = 266 nm), or a mercury lamp (lambda(exc) = 330-380 nm). At optimal conditions using the HeCd laser, the drugs were separated within 15 s with LODs less than 1 mug/mL for the four compounds. A linear relationship between concentration and peak area was obtained in the concentration range of 0.05-20 microg/mL with a mean correlation coefficient of around 0.996 for all analytes. The method was successfully applied to the analysis of the respective drugs in commercial formulations and in human urine without interference from other constituents. These data show that MCE has a great potential for reliable drug analysis.  相似文献

The development of molecular spectroscopy has enabled us to select chlorinated aromatic hydrocarbons very rapidly. In particular, the laser ionization TOFMS (time-of-flight mass spectrometry) method is expected to be useful as an on-line, selective, and sensitive method. In the present work, real-time laser ionization TOFMS measurements were carried out on gaseous chlorinated aromatic hydrocarbons. The laser ionization method used resonance-enhanced two-photon ionization with the direct introduction of gas into the vacuum chamber. This method for analyzing aromatic hydrocarbons was developed using a pulsed supersonic molecular beam method. In the context of developing a highly selective and sensitive method, excitation of monochlorinated benzene at lambda = 263.07 nm was found to be effective in the wavelength region from 263 nm to 265 nm. Also the excitation of polychlorinated biphenyls at lambda = 266 nm was found to be substantially more effective than at lambda = 280, 300 or 320 nm. The achievable sensitivity for real-time (1 min) measurements using the laser ionization TOFMS technique was found to be in the ppbV range.  相似文献

Three/two-photon resonant multiphoton ionization (MPI) of the CH3I monomer has been studied in the gas phase at 532 and 355 nm using time-of-flight mass spectrometry. Under low laser intensity (approximately 10(9) W/cm2) the mass spectra showed peaks at m/z 15, 127 and 142, corresponding to [CH3]+, [I]+ and [CH3I]+ species, at both these wavelengths. The laser power dependence for [CH3I]+, [I]+ and [CH3]+ ions showed a three-photon dependence at 532 nm. For the same three ions, photoionization studies at 355 nm gave a power dependence of 2. Both these results suggest that a vibronic energy level at approximately 7 eV, lying in the Rydberg C state, acts as a resonant intermediate level in ionization of CH3I. In the case of 355 nm, with increasing intensity additional peaks at m/z 139 and 141 were observed which could be assigned to [CI]+ and [CH2I]+ fragments. In contrast, for high intensity radiation at 532 nm ( approximately 2 x 10(10) W/cm2), only the [CI]+ fragment was observed. At these wavelengths, fragment ions observed in mass spectra mainly arise from photodissociation of the parent ion. Experiments at another wavelength in the visible region (564.2 nm) confirmed the results obtained at 532 nm. In order to assess the role of the A state in these MPI experiments, additional experiments were performed at 266 and 282.1 nm, which access the A state directly via a one-photon transition, and showed absence of a surviving precursor ion. Reaction energies for various possible dissociation channels of CH3I/[CH3I]+/[CH2I]+ were calculated theoretically at the MP2 level using the GAMESS electronic structure program.  相似文献

Influence of laser wavelength, laser irradiance and the buffer gas pressure were studied in high irradiance laser ablation and ionization source coupled with an orthogonal time-of-flight mass spectrometer. Collisional cooling effects of energetic plasma ions were proved to vary significantly with the elemental mass number. Effective dissociation of interferential polyatomic ions in the ion source, resulting from collision and from high laser irradiance, was verified. Investigation of relative sensitivity coefficients (RSC) of different elements performed on a steel standard GBW01396, which was ablated at 1064 nm, 532 nm, 355 nm, and 266 nm, has demonstrated that the thermal ablation mechanism could play a critical role with the first three wavelengths, while 266 nm induces non-thermal ablation principally. Experimental results also indicated that there is no evident discrepancy for most metal elements on RSCs and LODs among four wavelengths at high irradiance, except that high boiling point elements like Nb, Mo, and W have higher RSCs at higher irradiance regions of 1064 nm, 532 nm, and 355 nm due to thermal ablation. A geological standard and a garnet stone were also used in the experiment subsequently, and their RSCs and LODs for metal elements show nonsignificant dependence on wavelength at designated irradiances. All results reveal that relatively uniform sensitivity can be achieved at any wavelength for metal elements in the solids used in our experiments at an appropriate irradiance for the low pressure high irradiance laser ablation and ionization source.  相似文献

Intracluster proton transfer from the matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization matrix 2,5-dihydroxybenzoic acid (DHB) to the peptide valyl-prolyl-leucine has been investigated as a function of excitation laser wavelength and power. Ionization laser power studies at 308 nm indicate that cluster ionization occurs with a two-photon dependence, whereas matrix-to-analyte proton transfer and cluster dissociation requires an additional photon. At 266 nm, two-photon absorption leads to both cluster ionization and cluster dissociation/proton transfer. A consideration of these results clearly indicates that analyte protonation occurs following ionization of the cluster to produce a radical cation matrix/analyte cluster. Mass spectral features also indicate that mixed DHB/peptide cluster ionization can occur via two-photon ionization at wavelengths as long as 355 nm. These results suggest a reduction in the ionization potential of larger mixed DHB/peptide clusters of greater than 1 eV. The reduced ionization potential seen in these clusters suggests that radical cation initiated proton transfer remains a viable mechanism for analyte protonation in matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization at these longer wavelengths.  相似文献

Multiphoton ionisation and fragmentation of aniline, benzene, N,N-dimethyl and 2,4-dimethyl aniline has been studied by laser ionisation mass spectrometry under collision free conditions. All four molecules undergo efficient resonance-enhanced two-photon ionisation (R2PI) with relatively low laser intensities at λ = 266 nm producing the parent ion almost exclusively. At higher intensities, high order processes compete producing extensive fragmentation. At 266 nm, all the major fragment ions are produced by R3PI. For aniline excited at 294 nm, energetic considerations suggest R4P1 formation of fragments with differences in fragmentation between 266 and 294 nm reflecting the differing orders and energies above threshold of the competing processes. Comparison of R2P1 efficiencies in aniline and benzene shows that the cross sections for ionisation of the resonant intermediate 1B2 excited state in both molecules are approximately equal and independent of wavelength in the range 250–300 nm.  相似文献

Visible matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization (VIS-MALDI) was performed using 2-amino-3-nitrophenol as matrix. The matrix is of near-neutral pH, and has an optical absorption band in the near-UV and visible region. A frequency-doubled Nd:YAG laser operated at 532 nm wavelength was used for matrix excitation and comparisons were made with a frequency-tripled Nd:YAG laser (355 nm). Visible and ultraviolet (UV)-MALDI produce similar mass spectra for peptides, polymers, and small proteins with comparable sensitivities. Due to the smaller optical absorption coefficient of the matrix at 532 nm wavelength, the optical penetration depth is larger, and the sample consumption per laser shot in VIS-MALDI is higher than that of UV-MALDI. Nevertheless, VIS-MALDI using 2-amino-3-nitrophenol as matrix may offer a complementary technique to the conventional UV-MALDI method in applications where deeper laser penetration is required.  相似文献

A gigawatt laser-induced Coulomb explosion has been observed in carbon disulphide (CS(2)) clusters generating energetic, multiply charged [C](m+) (m = 1-4) and [S](n+) (n = 1-6) atomic ions of carbon and sulphur. The Coulomb explosion shows wavelength dependence. Comparison of these results with our earlier work shows that the polarizability and dipole moment might help in energy absorption from the laser field but they are not mandatory conditions for this low-intensity Coulomb explosion. The results show that in a field of 10(9) W/cm(2), absorption of 266 and 355 nm laser radiation by CS(2) clusters leads to multiphoton dissociation/ionization whereas at 532 nm the whole cluster explodes generating multiply charged atomic ions.  相似文献

A XeCl laser and a Q-switched Nd:YAG laser operating at 1064, 532, 355 and 266 nm were used to ablate brass materials with varying concentrations of Zn and Cu. The ablated material was transported to an inductively coupled plasma for further atomization, excitation and ionization with an atomic emission spectrometric detection. A Zn enhancement was observed, which could be suppressed by using a Nd:YAG laser working at 266 nm with fluences higher than 400 J cm−2 (equivalent to 80 GW cm−2). In contrast, a lack of linearity was observed for Cu as a function of the concentration, regardless of the wavelength and the fluence. The Cu problem seemed to occur during the ablation and was related to the structure of the brass material. Lack of linearity was also observed for Zn and other contained elements when samples from different origins were used.  相似文献

To explore the photophysics of platinum acetylide chromophores with strong two-photon absorption cross-sections, we have investigated the synthesis and spectroscopic characterization of a series of platinum acetylide complexes that feature highly pi-conjugated ligands substituted with pi-donor or -acceptor moieties. The molecules (numbered 1-4) considered in the present work are analogs of bis(phenylethynyl)bis(tributylphosphine)platinum(II) complexes. Molecule 1 carries two alkynyl-benzothiazolylfluorene ligands, and molecule 2 has two alkynyl-diphenylaminofluorene ligands bound to the central platinum atom. Compounds 3 and 4 possess two dihexylaminophenyl substituents at their ends and differ by the number of platinum atoms in the oligomer "core" (one vs two in 3 and 4, respectively). The ligands have strong effective two-photon absorption cross-sections, while the heavy metal platinum centers give rise to efficient intersystem crossing to long-lived triplet states. Ultrafast transient absorption and emission spectra demonstrate that one-photon excitation of the chromophores produces an S1 state delocalized across the two conjugated ligands, with weak (excitonic) coupling through the platinum centers. Intersystem crossing occurs rapidly (Kisc approximately 1011 s-1) to produce the T1 state, which is possibly localized on a single conjugated fluorenyl ligand. The triplet state is strongly absorbing (epsilonTT > 5 x 104 M-1 cm-1), and it is very long-lived (tau > 100 micro s). Femtosecond pulses were used to characterize the two-photon absorption properties of the complexes, and all of the chromophores are relatively efficient two-photon absorbers in the visible and near-infrared region of the spectrum (600-800 nm). The complexes exhibit maximum two-photon absorption at a shorter wavelength than 2lambda for the one-photon band, consistent with the dominant two-photon transition arising from a two-photon-allowed gerade-gerade transition. Nanosecond transient absorption experiments carried out on several of the complexes with excitation at 803 nm confirm that the long-lived triplet state can be produced efficiently via a sequence involving two-photon excitation to produce S1, followed by intersystem crossing to produce T1.  相似文献

Post-source decay (PSD) is a valuable tool for providing structural information from large molecules by time-of-flight mass spectrometry (TOFMS). We used PSD to obtain this type of data from small molecules in the laser desorption/ionization (LDI) study of diesel engine exhaust particles. As the original nitrogen laser (lambda = 337 nm, E = 3.5 eV/photon) of our TOF mass spectrometer does not yield sufficient energy to ionize polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), a second laser with a shorter wavelength has been coupled to the instrument. The fourth harmonic of a Nd:YAG laser (lambda = 266 nm, 4.6 eV/photon) has been chosen to achieve two-photon single-step desorption/ionization of PAHs. The PSD fragmentation of functionalized, alkylated and sulfur PAHs is discussed. Diesel engine exhaust particles are also studied as an example of a real complex sample. This technique is presented herein as a way to identify small molecules in environmental samples. Information provided by LDI-PSD-TOFMS can be a way to distinguish pollutants with very close molecular weights even if the resolving power of a TOF mass spectrometer is not sufficient.  相似文献

Novel two- and three-wavelength laser multiphoton ionization techniques for highly sensitive detection in solution have been established. The photocurrent signal obtained for benzo[a]pyrene by irradiation at 355 nm in n-heptane was effectively enhanced by additional simultaneous irradiation at 532 and/or 1064 nm. The additional irradiation at 532 nm (5 mJ) doubled the signal-to-noise ratio, while that at 1064 nm (30 mJ) increased it 5.5-fold relative to that obtained when only the 355 nm radiation was used. The simultaneous action of 355, 532 (5 mJ) and 1064 (25 mJ) nm radiation further improved the S/N ratio; the detection limit was as low as 1.9 x 10(-10)M. The 532 nm radiation enhanced the photocurrent signal more effectively than did the 1064 nm radiation.  相似文献

Fluorescence of nonlinear optical organic single crystal of 3-(1,1-dicyanoethenyl)-1-phenyl-4,5-dihydro-1H-pyrazole (DCNP) excited by a nonabsorbed light pulses from Q-switched Nd:YAG laser λ = 1064 nm as well as absorbed λ = 532 nm light is reported. Two mechanisms of two-photon excited fluorescence are considered: (i) direct two-photon excited fluorescence and (ii) single-photon excitation due to reabsorption of light generated in process of second harmonic generation (SHG) by the crystal due to its nonlinear optical properties. Strong anisotropy of fluorescence that has been observed is linked with uniaxial molecular alignment. Fluorescence decay profile shows two- exponential decay with lifetimes of emitting species of 3.7 and 5.6 ns at 293 K. The excitation and fluorescence spectra of the DCNP single crystal have been measured at 294 K and in function of temperature down to 77.4 K. The strong bathochromic shift of fluorescence spectrum in crystal with respect to fluorescence of DCNP molecule in solution is observed and interpreted with possible formation of molecular aggregates.  相似文献

The differences in artifacts associated with voltage-pulsed and laser-pulsed (wavelength = 532 or 355 nm) atom-probe tomographic (APT) analyses of nanoscale precipitation in a high-strength low-carbon steel are assessed using a local-electrode atom-probe tomograph. It is found that the interfacial width of nanoscale Cu precipitates increases with increasing specimen apex temperatures induced by higher laser pulse energies (0.6-2 nJ pulse(-1) at a wavelength of 532 nm). This effect is probably due to surface diffusion of Cu atoms. Increasing the specimen apex temperature by using pulse energies up to 2 nJ pulse(-1) at a wavelength of 532 nm is also found to increase the severity of the local magnification effect for nanoscale M2C metal carbide precipitates, which is indicated by a decrease of the local atomic density inside the carbides from 68 ± 6 nm(-3) (voltage pulsing) to as small as 3.5 ± 0.8 nm(-3). Methods are proposed to solve these problems based on comparisons with the results obtained from voltage-pulsed APT experiments. Essentially, application of the Cu precipitate compositions and local atomic density of M2C metal carbide precipitates measured by voltage-pulsed APT to 532 or 355 nm wavelength laser-pulsed data permits correct quantification of precipitation.  相似文献
