[structure: see text] Post-assembly covalent modification using Wittig chemistry of [2]rotaxane ylides, wherein NH(2)(+) centers in the dumbbell-shaped components are recognized by dibenzo[24]crown-8 (DB24C8) rings, has afforded a [3]catenane and a [3]rotaxane with a precise and synthetically prescribed shortage of DB24C8 rings. The nondegenerate pairs of translational isomers present in both of these interlocked molecular compounds provide the fundamental platform on which to construct sensory devices and nanochemomechanical systems.  相似文献

The synthesis of a novel pH‐sensitive hetero[4]rotaxane molecular machine through a self‐sorting strategy is reported. The original tetra‐interlocked molecular architecture combines a [c2]daisy chain scaffold linked to two [2]rotaxane units. Actuation of the system through pH variation is possible thanks to the specific interactions of the dibenzo‐24‐crown‐8 (DB24C8) macrocycles for ammonium, anilinium, and triazolium molecular stations. Selective deprotonation of the anilinium moieties triggers shuttling of the unsubstituted DB24C8 along the [2]rotaxane units.  相似文献

[2]Pseudorotaxanes, [2]rotaxanes and metal-organic rotaxane framework materials that utilise DB24C8 as the wheel component are well known and structural variations based on changing the axle component are common. Studies in which the DB24C8 wheel is structurally modified are much more limited. Herein, is described the synthesis of symmetrical DB24C8 analogues containing four CH(2)OR (R = CH(2)CH(2)CH(3), CH(2)(C(6)H(5)), C(6)H(5) and C(6)H(4)(4-COOEt)) substituents on the 4 and 5 positions of the aromatic rings. The effect of these molecular appendages on the stability and structures of the interpenetrated and interlocked molecules derived from these new wheels is described. The major effects are an increase in association constants for the formation of [2]pseudorotaxanes relative to DB24C8, the crystal packing of [2]rotaxanes and a change on the internal structure of a 2D MORF (R = C(6)H(5)) compared to DB24C8.  相似文献

A monocationic plug-socket connector that is composed, at the molecular level, of three components, (1) a secondary dialkylammonium center (CH2NH2+CH2), which can play the role of a plug toward dibenzo[24]crown-8 (DB24C8), (2) a rigid and conducting biphenyl spacer, and (3) 1,4-benzo-1,5-naphtho[36]crown-10 (BN36C10), capable of playing the role of a socket toward a 4,4'-bipyridinium dicationic plug, was synthesized and displays the ability to act as a plug-socket connector. The fluorescent signal changes associated with the 1,5-dioxynaphthalene unit of its BN36C10 portion were monitored to investigate the association of this plug-socket connector with the complementary socket and plug compounds. The results indicate that (1) the CH2NH2+CH2 part of the molecular connector can thread DB24C8 in a trivial manner and (2) the BN36C10 ring of the connector can be threaded by a 1,1'-dioctyl-4,4'-bipyridinium ion only after the CH2NH2+CH2 site is occupied by a DB24C8 ring. The two connections of the three-component assembly are shown to be controlled reversibly by acid/base and red/ox external inputs, respectively. The results obtained represent a key step for the design and construction of a self-assembling supramolecular system in which the molecular electron source can be connected to the molecular electron drain by a molecular elongation cable.  相似文献

Molecular shuttles are an intriguing class of rotaxanes which constitute prototypes of mechanical molecular machines and motors. By using stopped-flow spectroscopic techniques in acetonitrile solution, we investigated the kinetics of the shuttling process of a dibenzo[24]crown-8 ether (DB24C8) macrocycle between two recognition sites or "stations"--a secondary ammonium (-NH2+-)/amine (-NH-) center and a 4,4'-bipyridinium (bipy2+) unit--located on the dumbbell component in a [2]rotaxane. The affinity for DB24C8 decreases in the order -NH2+- > bipy2+ > -NH-. Hence, shuttling of the DB24C8 macrocycle can be obtained by deprotonation and reprotonation of the ammonium station, reactions which are easily accomplished by addition of base and acid to the solution. The rate constants were measured as a function of temperature in the range 277-303 K, and activation parameters for the shuttling motion in both directions were determined. The effect of different counterions on the shuttling rates was examined. The shuttling from the -NH2+- to the bipy2+ station, induced by the deprotonation of the ammonium site, is considerably slower than the shuttling in the reverse direction, which is, in turn, activated by reprotonation of the amine site. The results show that the dynamics of the shuttling processes are related to the change in the intercomponent interactions and structural features of the two mutually interlocked molecular components. Our observations also indicate that the counterions of the cationic rotaxane constitute an important contribution to the activation barrier for shuttling.  相似文献

A chemically addressable, bistable [2]rotaxane, which incorporates a dumbbell-shaped component containing both secondary dialkylammonium and 1,2-bis(pyridinium)ethane recognition sites for its ring component, dibenzo[24]crown-8 (DB24C8), has been assembled. (1)H NMR spectroscopy has demonstrated that deprotonation (and reprotonation) of the secondary dialkylammonium (dialkylamine) recognition site induces the DB24C8 ring to move away from this site to the 1,2-bis(pyridinium)ethane one (and back again) in a discrete manner, particularly when the experiment is performed in CDCl(3) solution.  相似文献

The structural complexity of mechanically interlocked molecules are very attractive to chemists owing to the challenges they present. In this article, novel mechanically interlocked molecules with a daisy‐chain‐containing hetero[4]rotaxane motif were efficiently synthesized. In addition, a novel integrative self‐sorting strategy is demonstrated, involving an ABB‐type (A for host, dibenzo‐24‐crown‐8 (DB24C8), and B for guest, ammonium salt sites) monomer and a macrocycle host, benzo‐21‐crown‐7 (B21C7), in which the assembled species in hydrogen‐bonding‐supported solvent only includes a novel daisy‐chain‐containing hetero[4]pseudorotaxane. The found self‐sorting process involves the integrative recognition between B21C7 macrocycles and carefully designed components simultaneously containing two types of secondary ammonium ions and a host molecule, DB24C8 crown ether. The self‐sorting strategy is integrative to undertake self‐recognition behavior to form one single species of pseudorotaxane compared with the previous report. This self‐sorting system can be used for the efficient one‐pot synthesis of a daisy‐chain‐containing hetero[4]rotaxane in a good yield. The structure of hetero[4]rotaxane was confirmed by 1H NMR spectroscopy and high‐resolution electrospray ionization (HR‐ESI) mass spectrometry.  相似文献

Cross-metathesis reactions of terminal olefins with acrylic esters catalyzed by a Ru-carbene complex ((H2IMes)(PCy3)Cl2Ru = CHPh, H2IMes = N,N-bis(mesityl)-4,5-dihydroimidazol-2-ylidene) were applied to the end-capping of [2]pseudorotaxanes composed of dibenzo[24]crown-8 (DB24C8) and ferrocenylmethylammonium derivatives as the macrocyclic and axle components. A [3]rotaxane consisting of two DB24C8s and an axle molecule having ferrocenyl groups at both ends was obtained from the cross-metathesis reaction of two [2]pseudorotaxanes with Fe(C5H4CH2OCOCH = CH2)2. Cyclic voltammograms of the ferrocene-containing rotaxanes show reversible redox reactions whose potentials vary depending on the presence or absence of cationic dialkylammonium groups in the vicinity of the ferrocene units.  相似文献

Dipyrido[24]crown-8 (DP24C8) has been synthesized and shown to form [2]pseudorotaxanes spontaneously with dibenzylammonium ions. These complexes, which have been demonstrated by (1)H NMR spectroscopy to form faster in solution than when the macrocyclic polyether is dibenzo[24]crown-8 (DB24C8), are also stronger than their DB24C8 counterparts. One of the [2]pseudorotaxanes has been used to construct a [2]rotaxane (see above) comprising a dumbbell-shaped component based on a dibenzylammonium ion which is encircled by a DP24C8 macrocycle and terminated by (triphenylphosphonium)methyl stoppers.  相似文献

The mild and efficient reaction between triethyl phosphite and benzylic azides allows us not only to construct rotaxanes in high yield from dibenzo[24]crown-8 (DB24C8) and dibenzylammonium (DBA(+))-derived threads but also to incorporate di(p-toluidine)[24]crown-8, which binds DBA(+) ions much more weakly than does DB24C8, into a corresponding [2]rotaxane.  相似文献

A linear bis secondary dialkylammonium ion-containing scaffold-based upon an anthracenyl core-has been synthesized. It has been demonstrated that it is possible to dock either one or two dibenzo[24]crown-8 (DB24C8) macrocycles onto this scaffold to afford either a [2]- or [3]pseudorotaxane, respectively. In solution, the association constants for the formation of each of these species has been quantified by employing (1)H NMR spectroscopy, and both species survive in the "gas phase" as evidenced by FAB mass spectrometry. Additionally, the X-ray crystal superstructure of the [3]pseudorotaxane has been determined.  相似文献

The prototype of an artificial molecular machine consisting of a trisammonium tricationic component interlocked with a tris(crown ether) component to form a molecular bundle with averaged C(3v) symmetry has been designed and synthesized. The system is based on noncovalent interactions, which include 1) N(+)-H...O hydrogen bonds; 2) C-H...O interactions between the CH(2)NH(2) (+)CH(2) protons on three dibenzylammonium-ion-containing arms, which are attached symmetrically to a benzenoid core, and three dibenzo[24]crown-8 macrorings fused onto a triphenylene core; and 3) pi...pi stacking interactions between the aromatic cores. The template-directed synthesis of the mechanically interlocked, triply threaded bundle involves post-assembly covalent modification, that is, the efficient conversion of three azide functions at the ends of the arms of the bound and threaded trication into bulky triazole stoppers, after 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition with di-tert-butylacetylenedicarboxylate to the extremely strong 1:1 adduct that is formed in dichloromethane/acetonitrile (3:2), on account of a cluster effect associated with the paucivalent adduct. Evidence for the averaged C(3v) symmetry of the molecular bundle comes from absorption and luminescence data, as well as from electrochemical experiments, (1)H NMR spectroscopy, and mass spectrometry. The photophysical properties of the mechanically interlocked bundle are very similar to those of the superbundle that precedes the formation of the bundle in the process of supramolecular assistance to covalent synthesis. Although weak non-nucleophilic bases (e.g., nBu(3)N and iPr(2)NEt) fail to deprotonate the bundle, the strong tBuOK does, as indicated by both luminescence and (1)H NMR spectroscopy. While deprotonation undoubtedly loosens up the interlocked structure of the molecular bundle by replacing relatively strong N(+)-H...O hydrogen bonds by much weaker N-H...O ones, the pi...pi stacking interactions ensure that any structural changes are inconsequential, particularly when the temperature of the solution of the neutral molecular bundle in dichloromethane is cooled down to considerably below room temperature.  相似文献

Three constitutionally isomeric bis(naphthylmethyl)ammonium ions, in which the two naphthyl groups are substituted 1) both at their 1-positions, 2) one at its 1-position and the other at its 2-position, and 3) both at their 2-positions, have been investigated separately in solution for their propensities to undergo spontaneous self-assembly with three different [24]crown-8 derivatives, namely, pyrido[24]crown-8 (P24C8), dipyrido[24]crown-8 (DP24C8) and dibenzo[24]crown-8 (DB24C8), in turn to form [2]pseudorotaxanes. The strengths of the 1:1 complexes depend on the composition of the secondary dialkylammonium ions and on the nature of the crown ether hosts; generally, as far as the guest cation is concerned, the 1/1- and 2/2-isomers form stronger complexes, as indicated by stability constant measurements, than the 1/2-isomer and, as far as the crown ethers are concerned, the more flexible P24C8 is a much more efficient host than either DP24C8 or DB24C8. The rates of formation of the [2]pseudorotaxanes are fast (i.e., taking no more than a few minutes) in solution with the exception of one case, that is, in which the crown ether host is DB24C8 and the guest cation is the 1/1-isomer, when it can take upwards of one month for the complexation-decomplexation equilibrium to be established at room temperature. In all cases, the equilibrium between complexed and uncomplexed species is slow on the NMR timescale, allowing the determination of stability constants to be made readily using the single-point method. X-ray crystallography and molecular modeling have been used to gain insight into ground and transition state interactions, respectively, in some of the [2]pseudorotaxanes. The relative stabilities of the three [2]pseudorotaxanes formed by each guest cation in the presence of the three crown ether hosts were also evaluated in solution by competition experiments that were monitored by (1)H NMR spectroscopy. By and large the results of the competition experiments could be predicted on the basis of the derived stability constants for the individual [2]pseudorotaxanes.  相似文献

Protonation of p-xylylaminomethylferrocene (1) and n-hexylaminomethylferrocene (2) by HCl and NH(4)PF(6) forms the ferrocenylmethyl(alkyl)ammonium salt. Inclusion of the compounds by dibenzo[24]crown-8 (DB24C8) produces [2]pseudorotaxanes, [(DB24C8)(1-H)](+)(PF(6)) and [(DB24C8)(2-H)](+)(PF(6)), respectively. X-ray diffraction of the former product indicates an interlocked structure composed of the axis and the macrocyclic molecule. Intermolecular N-H...O and C-H...O interactions and stacking of the aromatic planes are observed. [(DB24C8)(1-H)](+)(PF(6)), in the solid state, is characterized by IR spectroscopy and elemental analyses. A similar reaction of 1,1'-bis(p-xylylaminomethyl)ferrocene (3) forms a mixture of [2] and [3]pseudorotaxanes, [(DB24C8)(3-H(2))](2+)(PF(6))(2) and [(DB24C8)(2)(3-H(2))](2+)(PF(6))(2). The latter product having two DB24C8 molecules is isolated and characterized by X-ray crystallography. Formation of these pseudorotaxanes in a CD(3)CN solution is evidenced by (1)H NMR and mass spectrometry. Electrochemical oxidation of 1-3 at 0.4 V (vs Ag(+)/Ag) in the presence of TEMPOH (1-hydroxy-2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine) and DB24C8 affords the corresponding pseudorotaxanes. The ESR spectrum of the reaction mixture indicates the formation of a TEMPO radical in high yield. Details of the conversion of the dialkylamino group of the ligand to the dialkylammonium group are investigated by using a flow electrolysis method linked to spectroscopic measurements. The proposed mechanism for the reaction involves the ferrocenium species, formed by initial oxidation, which undergoes electron transfer from nitrogen to the Fe(III) center, producing a cation radical at the nitrogen. Transfer of hydrogen from TEMPOH to the cation radical and inclusion of the resulting dialkylammonium species by DB24C8 yields the pseudorotaxanes.  相似文献

An approach to the study of polyvalency-the interaction of polyvalent receptors with polyvalent ligands-in unnatural systems is outlined. In this study, the complexation of dibenzylammonium cations by dibenzo[24]crown-8 or benzometaphenylene[25]crown-8 is utilized as the component receptor-ligand interaction. Two analogous multivalent receptors-each containing either seven dibenzo[24]crown-8 (DB24C8 CLUSTER) or seven benzometaphenylene[25]crown-8 (BMP25C8 CLUSTER) moieties appended to a modified beta-cyclodextrin core-were prepared in moderate yields. For each of these multivalent receptors, complementary mono- and divalent ligands containing one or two dialkylammonium centers, respectively, were prepared in good yields. These ligands contained fluorine atom substituents to allow their interactions with crown ether compounds to be probed by (19)F NMR spectroscopy. The complexation of these monovalent ligands with the DB24C8 CLUSTER and the BMP25C8 CLUSTER was studied by determining the average binding constant (K(AVE)) between the receptors and ligands. The abilities of the crown ether clusters to complex with these monovalent ligands was compared with those of the monovalent crown ethers dibenzo[24]crown-8 and benzometaphenylene[25]crown-8. In both instances, it was found that clustering seven crown ethers together into one molecule is detrimental to the abilities of the crown ether moieties to complex with monovalent dialkylammonium ligands. The complexation of the divalent ligands by the DB24C8 CLUSTER and the BMP25C8 CLUSTER was then studied-again by determining K(AVE)-and their abilities to complex with these ligands was compared with those of their respective component interactions. By determining K(AVE) for the polyvalent interaction, it was possible to calculate an association constant, K(POLY), for the binding of the divalent ligands by the DB24C8 CLUSTER and the BMP25C8 CLUSTER compounds. In both instances K(POLY) for the polyvalent interaction was found to be approximately 2 orders of magnitude higher than the association constants, K(A), for the component interaction.  相似文献

A [2]catenane, composed of a pi-electron-rich bis-1,5-dioxynaphthalene[38]crown10 (BDNP38C10) ring, mechanically interlocked with a large macrocycle containing two disubstituted tetraarylmethane "speed bumps" and two different pi-electron-deficient units--namely, naphthalene dimide (NpI) and bipyridinium (BIPY(2+)) units--has been synthesized from a [2]rotaxane, containing the former recognition unit, after performing two sequential Cu(I)-catalyzed azide-alkyne cycloadditions with a linker containing the latter recognition unit. The product, which exists as a single co-conformer, wherein the BDNP38C10 ring encircles the NpI unit, undergoes equilibration to give approximately equal amounts of the other co-conformer in which the BDNP38C10 ring encircles the BIPY(2+) unit.  相似文献

Secondary dialkylammonium (R2NH2+) ions are bound readily by dibenzo[24]crown-8 (DB24C8) to form threaded complexes, namely [2]pseudo-rotaxanes. The effect of replacing one or both of the catechol rings in DB24C8 with resorcinol rings upon the crown ether's ability to bind R2NH2+ ions has now been investigated. When only one aromatic ring is changed from catechol to resorcinol, a crown ether with a [25]crown-8 constitution is created-namely benzometaphenylene[25]crown-8 (BMP25C8). A [2]pseudorotaxane is formed in the solid state when BMP25C8 is co-crystallized with dibenzylammonium hexafluorophosphate, as evidenced by its X-ray crystal structure. Furthermore, this crown ether has been shown to bind R2NH2+ ions in solution, an observation which has been exploited in the synthesis of the first BMP25C8-containing [2]rotaxane. The methodology employed to generate this [2]rotaxane--the reaction of an amine with an isocyanate to form a urea--was tested initially on a system incorporating DB24C8 and was shown to work efficiently. Both [2]rotaxanes have been fully characterized by 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopies, FAB mass spectrometry and X-ray crystallography. Interestingly, the unsymmetrical nature of the dumbbell-shaped component in each of the two [2]rotaxanes renders each face of the encircling macrocyclic polyether diastereotopic, a feature that is apparent upon inspection of their 1H NMR spectra. The resonances associated with the diastereotopic protons on each face of the macrorings are well enough resolved to enable the faces of the crown ethers to be readily identified with respect to their protons by 1H NMR spectroscopy. Unambiguous assignments can be made as a result of the fact that the protons on each face of the macrocyclic polyether experience a unique set of through-space interactions, as evidenced by T-ROESY experiments. Additionally, the two-dimensional NMR analyses are in agreement with the X-ray crystallographic studies performed on these [2]rotaxanes, indicating that the crown ethers are located intimately around the NH2+ centers as expected. Replacement of both catechol rings in the DB24C8 constitution with resorcinol rings results in a crown ether with a [26]crown-8 constitution--namely bismetaphenylene[26]crown-8 (BMP26CS). All the evidence to date points to the fact that this further change in constitution results in a crown ether that does not bind R2NH2+ ions in either the solution or solid states.  相似文献

Amphiphilic bis(tetrathiafulvalene) [bis(TTF)] macrocycles with four alkyl chains were fabricated as novel electrically active Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) films. Two TTF units were linked via [24]crown-8, [21]crown-7, and [18]crown-6 macrocycles, forming charge-transfer (CT) salts with 2,3,5,6-tetrafluoro-7,7,8,8-tetracyano-p-quinodimethane (F4-TCNQ) at the air-water interface and on solid substrates. The CT salt of the amphiphilic bis(TTF)-macrocycle having a [24]crown-8 ring system formed a uniform surface morphology on mica. Using single-crystal X-ray structural analysis, the layer structure between the hydrophobic chains and the one-dimensional pi-pi stack of the CT salt was confirmed. Our results show that the bis(TTF)-macrocycle was folded at the flexible [24]crown-8 moiety, forming intramolecular pi-pi dimer structures and one-dimensional intermolecular pi-pi stacks with F4-TCNQ dimers. The open-shell electronic structure of the LB films was determined by electronic spectra, electrical conductivity, and electron spin resonance analyses. Asymmetry was introduced into the bis(TTF)-macrocycle by changing the ring size from [24]crown-8 to [21]crown-7. The surface morphology of the CT salts with F4-TCNQ was established as two-dimensional round-shape domains on mica. Further reduction of the macrocyclic ring from [21]crown-7 to [18]crown-6 resulted in a CT salt of the bis(TTF)-macrocycle with F4-TCNQ with a leaf-shape domain morphology and a typical dimension of approximately 1 microm2 on mica. In general, decreasing the macrocyclic ring size from [24]crown-8 to [21]crown-7 or [18]crown-6 affected the inter- and intramolecular interactions and the surface morphologies of LB films.  相似文献

A supramolecular cation of (m-FAni(+))(DB[18]crown-6), where m-FAni(+) and DB[18]crown-6 denote m-fluoroanilinium(+) and dibenzo[18]crown-6, respectively, which is the polar unit rotating in the ferroelectric crystal of (m-FAni(+))(DB[18]crown-6)[Ni(dmit)(2)](-), was introduced into a ferromagnetic [MnCr(oxalate)(3)](-) salt as the counter cation. The crystal structure of (m-FAni(+))(DB[18]crown-6)[MnCr(oxalate)(3)](-)(CH(3)OH)(CH(3)CN) (1) is constructed from alternating layers of a two-dimensional honeycomb layer of [MnCr(oxalate)(3)](-) and (m-FAni(+))(DB[18]crown-6) supramolecular cations. The anionic layer is composed of Mn(II) and Cr(III) ions with S = 5/2 and S = 3/2 spins, respectively, bridged by the oxalate anions, which show ferromagnetic ordering at 5.5 K. The supramolecular structure is formed through the formation of hydrogen bonds between the ammonium hydrogen atoms of the m-FAni(+) cations and the oxygen atoms of the DB[18]crown-6 cavity. No orientational disorder of the fluorine atoms was observed in our X-ray structural analysis, suggesting that a two-fold flip-flop motion of the m-FAni(+) cations does not occur in the salt. The rotational freedom of the m-FAni(+) cations in the salt is restricted by the steric hindrance from neighbouring DB[18]crown-6 molecules. A design strategy for the rotation in a salt is discussed, based on the volume that the supramolecular cations occupy in the unit cell.  相似文献

Mixing the dipyrido[24]crown-8 derivatives carrying one or two formyl group(s) on the 4 position(s) of their pyridine ring(s) with a 3-fold symmetrical trisammonium ion template in a 3:1 ratio in CD3NO2 results in the formation of thermodynamically stable [4]pseudorotaxanes which, upon addition of a 1,3,5-trisaminobenzene cap, form mechanically interlocked molecular bundles with one and two caps, respectively, by virtue of dynamic imine bond formation.  相似文献
