This paper presents a detailed analysis on the dynamics of a delayed oscillator with negative damping and delayed feedback control. Firstly, a linear stability analysis for the trivial equilibrium is given. Then, the direction of Hopf bifurcation and stability of periodic solutions bifurcating from trivial equilibrium are determined by using the normal form theory and center manifold theorem. It shows that with properly chosen delay and gain in the delayed feedback path, this controlled delayed system may have stable equilibrium, or periodic solutions, or quasi-periodic solutions, or coexisting stable solutions. In addition, the controlled system may exhibit period-doubling bifurcation which eventually leads to chaos. Finally, some new interesting phenomena, such as the coexistence of periodic orbits and chaotic attractors, have been observed. The results indicate that delayed feedback control can make systems with state delay produce more complicated dynamics.  相似文献

The van der Pol equation with a distributed time delay is analyzed. Itslinear stability is investigated by employing the Routh–Hurwitzcriteria. Moreover, the local asymptotic stability conditions are alsoderived. By using the mean time delay as a bifurcation parameter, themodel is found to undergo a sequence of Hopf bifurcations. The directionand the stability criteria of the bifurcating periodic solutions areobtained by the normal form theory and the center manifold theorem. Digital filters, frequently used in active control of mechanical systems, enable one to improve the signal-to-noise ratio and the control performance, but introduce group delays into the control loops simultaneously. In order to gain an insight into the effects of a digital filter on a controlled mechanical system, this paper presents the stability switches and the corresponding Hopf bifurcations of a double pendulum system with the linear quadratic control having a digital filter via theoretical analysis, numerical simulations and experiments. In this study, the digital filters are used to remove the undesired noise of high frequency, which is embedded in the control signal, and are modeled as the components of pure time delay during the theoretical analysis and numerical simulations. The study shows that a digital filter with moderate specifications can not only improve the vibration reduction effectively, but also save the energy consumption of the servo-motor remarkably. However, over demanding specifications will make the group delay of the filter exceed a critical value and cause either a divergent motion or a self-excited vibration through a Hopf bifurcation, the occurrence of which depends on both the stability and the size of the basin of attraction of the bifurcating periodic motion. The experimental results well coincide with the theoretical and numerical ones, and strongly support the simplification of the digital filters as the components of pure time delay. Finally, some suggestions are made to avoid the group delay induced instability.  相似文献

本文以结构物承受周期激励地震波和具有时滞的弹性地基为背景,研究时滞对于结构物振动响应的影响规律。问胚的数学模型是一个非线性参数激励时滞系统,采用中心流形和平均法得到Hopf分岔方程,研究结果表明时滞量对结构物的地震响应有重要影响,它可使响应振幅增大,意味着结构物遭破坏的危险性增大,同时,结果也表明可以通过阻尼控制器克服时滞引起的危险性。最后,对于不同的时滞量,比较理论分析与数值模拟结果基本吻合,说明了本文结果的可靠性。  相似文献

The effect of time delays occurring in a proportional-integral-derivative feedback controller on the linear stability of a simple electromechanical system is investigated by analyzing the characteristic transcendental equation. It is found that the trivial fixed point of the system can lose its stability through Hopf bifurcations when the time delay crosses certain critical values. Codimension two bifurcations, which result from non-resonant and resonant Hopf–Hopf bifurcation interactions, are also found to exist in the system.  相似文献

The trivial equilibrium of a two-degree-of-freedom autonomous system may become unstable via a Hopf bifurcation of multiplicity two and give rise to oscillatory bifurcating solutions, due to presence of a time delay in the linear and nonlinear terms. The effect of external excitations on the dynamic behaviour of the corresponding non-autonomous system, after the Hopf bifurcation, is investigated based on the behaviour of solutions to the four-dimensional system of ordinary differential equations. The interaction between the Hopf bifurcating solutions and the high level excitations may induce a non-resonant or secondary resonance response, depending on the ratio of the frequency of bifurcating periodic motion to the frequency of external excitation. The first-order approximate periodic solutions for the non-resonant and super-harmonic resonance response are found to be in good agreement with those obtained by direct numerical integration of the delay differential equation. It is found that the non-resonant response may be either periodic or quasi-periodic. It is shown that the super-harmonic resonance response may exhibit periodic and quasi-periodic motions as well as a co-existence of two or three stable motions.  相似文献

In this paper, a more general two-neuron model with distributed delays and weak kernel is investigated. By applying the frequency domain approach and analyzing the associated characteristic equation, the existence of bifurcation parameter point is determined. Furthermore, we found that if the mean delay is used as a bifurcation parameter, Hopf bifurcation occurs for the weak kernel. This means that a family of periodic solutions bifurcates from the equilibrium when the bifurcation parameter exceeds a critical value. The direction and stability of the bifurcating periodic solutions are determine by the Nyquist criterion and the graphical Hopf bifurcation theorem. Some numerical simulations for justifying the theoretical analysis are also given.  相似文献

A kind of 2-dimensional neural network model with delay is considered. By analyzing the distribution of the roots of the characteristic equation associated with the model, a bifurcation diagram was drawn in an appropriate parameter plane. It is found that a line is a pitchfork bifurcation curve. Further more, the stability of each fixed point and existence of Hopf bifurcation were obtained. Finally, the direction of the Hopf bifurcation and the stability of the bifurcating periodic solutions were determined by using the normal form method and centre manifold theory. In this paper, the dynamic behavior of suspension system of maglev train with time-delayed position and velocity feedback signal is considered with rigid guideway. The stability conditions of the system are obtained with characteristic root method. The Hopf bifurcation direction and stability of the system at the critical point are also investigated. Based on center manifold reduction and Poincaré normal form theory, the general formula for the direction, the estimation formula of period and stability of Hopf bifurcating periodic solution are also given. It is shown that time delays can change the current complicated dynamic behavior. And the condition that the bifurcation may occur is given to restrain the dynamic response and vibration between vehicle and guideway of the system with time-delayed position and velocity signal.  相似文献

This paper investigates the dynamics of a TCP system described by a first- order nonlinear delay differential equation. By analyzing the associated characteristic transcendental equation, it is shown that a Hopf bifurcation sequence occurs at the pos- itive equilibrium as the delay passes through a sequence of critical values. The explicit algorithms for determining the Hopf bifurcation direction and the stability of the bifur- cating periodic solutions are derived with the normal form theory and the center manifold theory. The global existence of periodic solutions is also established with the method of Wu (Wu, J. H. Symmetric functional differential equations and neural networks with memory. In this paper, the dynamics of a generalized two-neuron model with self-connections and distributed delays are investigated, together with the stability of the equilibrium. In particular, the conditions under which the Hopf bifurcation occurs at the equilibrium are obtained for the weak kernel. This means that a family of periodic solutions bifurcates from the equilibrium when the bifurcation parameter exceeds a critical value. Explicit algorithms for determining the stability of the bifurcating periodic solutions and the direction of the Hopf bifurcation are derived by using the theory of normal form and center manifold [20]. Some numerical simulations are given to illustrate the effectiveness of the results found. This paper presents new observations of delayed AD (acceleration-derivative) controller in active vibration control and in bifurcation control of a Duffing oscillator. Based on the stability analysis of the linear delayed oscillator, it is found that combination of the two delays in acceleration feedback and velocity feedback has a significant influence on the stable region in the parameter plane of the gains. By calculating the real part of the rightmost characteristic roots of the controlled oscillator with fixed delays, it is shown that a delayed acceleration feedback with positive gain can work much better than the corresponding delayed negative acceleration feedback, which is used in classic control theory. For given feedback gains, by calculating the critical delay values, it is shown that a delayed positive acceleration feedback can result in a much larger stable delay interval than the corresponding delayed negative acceleration feedback does. As an application of these results to a delayed Duffing oscillator with acceleration-derivative feedback, a delayed positive acceleration feedback can be well used to postpone the occurrence of Hopf bifurcation in the delayed nonlinear oscillators.  相似文献

In this paper, a three-dimensional autonomous nonlinear system called the T system which has potential application in secure communications is considered. Regarding the delay as parameter, we investigate the effect of delay on the dynamics of T system with delayed feedback. Firstly, by employing the polynomial theorem to analyze the distribution of the roots to the associated characteristic equation, the conditions of ensuring the existence of Hopf bifurcation are given. Secondly, by using the normal form theory and center manifold argument, we derive the explicit formulas determining the stability, direction and other properties of bifurcating periodic solutions. Finally, we give several numerical simulations, which indicate that when the delay passes through certain critical values, chaotic oscillation is converted into a stable steady state or a periodic orbit.  相似文献

Nonlinear time delay differential equations are well known to havearisen in models in physiology, biology and population dynamics. Theyhave also arisen in models of metal cutting processes. Machine toolchatter, from a process called regenerative chatter, has been identifiedas self-sustained oscillations for nonlinear delay differentialequations. The actual chatter occurs when the machine tool shifts from astable fixed point to a limit cycle and has been identified as arealized Hopf bifurcation. This paper demonstrates first that a class ofnonlinear delay differential equations used to model regenerativechatter satisfies the Hopf conditions. It then gives a precisecharacterization of the critical eigenvalues on the stability boundaryand continues with a complete development of the Hopf parameter, theperiod of the bifurcating solution and associated Floquet exponents.Several cases are simulated in order to show the Hopf bifurcationoccurring at the stability boundary. A discussion of a method ofintegrating delay differential equations is also given.  相似文献

In this paper, from the view of stability and chaos control, we investigate the Rossler chaotic system with delayed feedback. At first, we consider the stability of one of the fixed points, verifying that Hopf bifurcation occurs as delay crosses some critical values. Then, for determining the stability and direction of Hopf bifurcation we derive explicit formulae by using the normal-form theory and center manifold theorem. By designing appropriate feedback strength and delay, one of the unstable equilibria of the Rossler chaotic system can be controlled to be stable, or stable bifurcating periodic solutions occur at the neighborhood of the equilibrium. Finally, some numerical simulations are carried out to support the analytic results.  相似文献

Both the primary resonant solutions and their bifurcations due to time delayed velocity feedbacks used in a self-sustained oscillator with excitation were further investigated. A model was proposed by adding linear and nonlinear time delayed feedbacks to a representative non- autonomous system ( with external forcing ). The stability condition of the linearized system at trivial equilibrium was discussed, which leads to a critical stability boundary where periodic solutions may occur. The main attention was focused on bifurcations from the primary resonant solutions. It is found that the stable primary resonant solution may appear periodically in the time delay. Meanwhile, the unstable regions for such solutions are also obtained, predicting the occurrence of quasi-periodic motions.  相似文献

众所周知,平面自治系统即使具有光滑非线性存在,系统也不会出现复杂的动力学行为。本文研究这样的系统存在时滞时,时滞量对系统的动力学行为的影响。通过对一个平面自治非线性系统引入时滞反馈,得到数学模型。利用泛函分析和平均法建立系统平衡态随时滞量变化的失稳机理,研究表明:时滞量平面自治系统动力学行为的影响是本质的.时滞量不但可以使系统出现Hopf分岔,产生周期振动。而且还可以使系统出现多稳态的周期运动或周期吸引子,这些共存的吸引子相碰是导致系统复杂的动力学行为,包括概周期和混沌运动。  相似文献

Rotors supported by journal bearings may become unstable due to self-excited vibrations when a critical rotor speed is exceeded. Linearised analysis is usually used to determine the stability boundaries. Non-linear bifurcation theory or numerical integration is required to predict stable or unstable periodic oscillations close to the critical speed. In this paper, a dynamic model of a short journal bearing is used to analyse the bifurcation of the steady state equilibrium point of the journal centre. Numerical continuation is applied to determine stable or unstable limit cycles bifurcating from the equilibrium point at the critical speed. Under certain working conditions, limit cycles themselves are shown to disappear beyond a certain rotor speed and to exhibit a fold bifurcation giving birth to unstable limit cycles surrounding the stable supercritical limit cycles. Numerical integration of the system of equations is used to support the results obtained by numerical continuation. Numerical simulation permitted a partial validation of the analytical investigation.  相似文献
