The use of nano‐carbon paste electrodes for the measurement of Gibbs energies of transfer between oil and aqueous phases is reported. In this method the oil of interest is used as the binder for the nano‐carbon paste electrodes and the molecule of interest is dissolved in the organic or aqueous phase. Voltammetry is performed over a period of time and used to monitor the transfer of the molecule between the two phases. The method is illustrated for the transfer of ferrocenemethanol between water and oil using the ferrocenemethanol / ferroceniummethanol (FcCH2OH/FcCH2OH+) redox couple. Three pairs of voltammetric peaks were observed in a 0.1 M KCl solution when the nano‐carbon paste electrode was modified by dissolution of FcCH2OH in the binder oil: P1 [E=0.23 V, 0.17 V vs. Ag/AgCl (1 M KCl)], P2 [E=0.36 V, 0.32 V vs. Ag/AgCl (1 M KCl)] and P3 [E=0.55 V, 0.46 V vs. Ag/AgCl (1 M KCl)]. These are assigned to the FcCH2OH species existing in the aqueous solution [FcCH2OH(aq)/FcCH2OH+(aq)], originating in the oil (o) [FcCH2OH(o)/FcCH2OH+(aq)] and to oxidation of adsorbed (ads) material on the nano‐carbon [FcCH2OH(ads)] respectively. When supporting electrolyte containing the anions Cl?, NO3? or SCN? was used, an expulsion of the oxidised ferrocene occurred and the difference in midpoint potentials (Emid) between the peaks P1 and P2 observed in these experiments allowed the calculation of the Gibbs energy (Δ) of transfer of ferrocenemethanol from water to oil. The average Δ value thus obtained was (?12.7±0.2) kJ mol?1. For more hydrophobic anions (X?=PF6?, AsF6?), the electron transfer is coupled to the transfer of the anion into the oil and the Δ for the transfer of the ion pair of FcCH2OH+ and X? ions from water to oil was found to be ?1.3 and ?3.9 kJ mol?1 for PF6? and AsF6? respectively.  相似文献

Mercaptoundecanoic acid (MUA) and glutathione (GSH) self‐assembled monolayers were prepared on gold‐ wire microelectrode. Cyclic voltammetry was used to investigate the influence of temperature on electrochemical behaviors of Fe(CN)63?/4? and Ru(NH3)63+/2+ at these SAMs modified electrodes in aqueous solution. It is found that temperature shows great influence on electron transfer (ET) and mass transport (MT) for the two SAMs modified electrodes and the influence of temperature depends on the charge properties of the redox couples and terminal groups of SAMs and the structure of the monolayer on gold surface. The temperature can greatly increase MT rate of Fe(CN)63?/4? at both MUA and GSH modified electrodes. However, the increased MT rate doesn't have any effect on the CV's for Fe(CN)63?/4? /MUA system. For Ru(NH3)63+/2+ , temperature can greatly improve the electrochemical reaction in both MUA and GSH modified electrodes, which is ascribed to temperature‐induced diffusion and convection and the electrostatic interaction between Ru(NH3)63+/2+ and negatively charged carboxyl groups on the electrode surface.  相似文献

A novel and highly sensitive electrochemical DNAzymes biosensor was fabricated using Au nanoparticles (AuNPs) immobilized on the surface of Au electrode that had been previously modified with self-assembled monolayers of 1,6-hexanedithiol. Different modified electrodes were prepared and characterized by cyclic voltammetry and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. The AuNPs were found to have a large surface area to anchor a large number of negatively charged phosphate backbones of DNAzymes, which further absorbed the electroactive indicator of hexaammineruthenium(III) ([Ru(NH3)6]3+) to amplify the electrochemical signal. In the presence of target molecules, a large amount of DNA partly associated with [Ru(NH3)6]3+ were removed from the electrode surface, leading to a significant decrease in peak current. Differential pulse voltammetry signals of [Ru(NH3)6]3+ provided quantitative measures of the concentrations of uranyl ion (UO2 2+), with linear calibration ranging from 13 pM to 0.15 nM and a detection limit of 5 pM. The presence of other metal ions did not affect the detection of UO2 2+, which indicated the high specificity of UO2 2+. Therefore, a new electrochemical DNAzymes sensor was designed with specific DNAzymes and AuNPs as immobilization platform and signal amplifier.  相似文献

Silica sol-gel (SG) films with templated pores were deposited on glassy carbon (GC) electrodes by an electrochemically initiated process. Generation-4 poly(amidoamine), PAMAM, dendrimer was included in the tetraethoxysilane precursor to facilitate pore formation. The PAMAM adsorbs to the GC, which blocks SG formation at those sites on the electrode. The pore size was 10?±?5?nm. After removal of the PAMAM, cyclic voltammetry of Fe(CN)6 3? and Ru(NH3)6 3+ at pH?6.2 showed that the residual negative charge on the silica attenuated the current for the former and increased the current for the latter, presumably by electrostatic repulsion and ion-exchange preconcentration, respectively. This premise was supported by repeating the measurements at the isoelectric point. Methylation of the silanol sites was used to eliminate the charge of the SG. At the end-capped SG, the voltammetry of Fe(CN)6 3? and Ru(NH3)6 3+ yielded currents that were independent of pH over the range 2.1 to 7.2. Circumventing the need for the silanization by using (3-glycidyloxypropyl)trimethoxysilane as the sol-gel precursor failed because the oxygen plasma treatment to remove the PAMAM attacked the organically modified sol-gel backbone. The resulting modified electrode mitigated the influence of proteins on the voltammetry of test species and stabilized functionalize nanoparticle catalysts under hydrodynamic conditions.  相似文献

We studied nanocarbon film electrodes with the aim of detecting tryptophan metabolites via the kynurenine pathway. The nanocarbon films were formed by using unbalanced magnetron sputtering, and they exhibited superior electrode properties including a wide potential window and a low background current as a result of the sp3-containing structure and ultraflat surface. These properties allowed us to detect certain tryptophan metabolites such as kynurenic acid (KYNA), which has a relatively high oxidation potential. We also investigated the effect of the sp2/sp3 ratio of the nanocarbon film as regards the electrode activity in relation to target molecules. We found that the sp2/sp3 ratio played important roles in both widening the potential window and obtaining superior electrode performance for the metabolites. The nanocarbon film with a high sp3 content was beneficial as regards the electrode performance with respect to the detection limit and sensitivity. Compared with conventional carbon-based electrodes, the nanocarbon film electrode with a high sp3 content exhibited higher electrode activity against KYNA while maintaining a low background current. Computational experiments revealed that the theoretical oxidation potential (Eox) value for some targets coincided with that obtained in electrochemical experiments using our nanocarbon film electrode.  相似文献

Cobalt, despite an essential biological element, imposes threat to humans when exposed to high concentration or even to low concentration for long term which demands the development of highly sensitive and selective analytical methods for its trace analysis. In the present work, self‐assembly of p‐aminothiophenol (p‐ATP) on gold surface (Au?ATP SAM) was carried out and for the first time, applied as a platform for impedimetric and potentiometric sensing of Co2+. Au?ATP SAM was characterized using electrochemical techniques: cyclic voltammetry (CV) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), in the presence of two redox probes: [Fe(CN)6]3?/4? and [Ru(NH3)6]2+/3+ to evaluate associated passivating behaviour. Au?ATP SAM completely blocked [Fe(CN)6]3?/4? as compared to [Ru(NH3)6]2+/3+ which may be attributed to inner‐sphere and outer‐sphere ET mechanisms, respectively. Au?ATP SAM was found to exhibit excellent sensitivity towards Co2+ in a wider concentration range from 1.0×10?12 M to 1.0×10?5 M (r2=0.963) at pH 5.5 with a detection limit of 6.0×10?13 M and superior selectivity. Further, carbon paste electrode (CPE) was prepared by incorporating p‐ATP bound gold nanoparticles and explored for potentiometric sensing of Co2+ which exhibited Nernstian slope of 29.2±0.2 mV/dec in linear concentration range of 1.0×10?6 M–1.0×10?1 M (r2=0.971) with a detection limit of 8.0×10?7 M. The proposed sensors were successfully applied for estimation of Co2+ content in water samples.  相似文献

Copper hexacyanoferrate (CuHCF) film‐modified carbon paste electrode (CPE) has been prepared from various electrolytic aqueous solutions using consecutive cyclic voltammetry. The cyclic voltammograms showed the direct deposition of CuHCF films from the mixing of Cu2+ and Fe(CN)63? ions and each time with one of the six cations: H+, Na+, K+, NH4+, Mg2+, and Al3+. The CuHCF film showed a single redox couple that exhibited a cation effect (Na+, K+, Mg2+, and NH4+) and anion effect (Cl?, NO3?, SO42?, ClO4?, and BrO3?) in the cyclic voltammograms. Voltammetric studies have indicated that in presence of nitrite, the cathodic peak current of CuHCF increases, followed by a decrease in the corresponding anodic current. This indicated that nitrite was reduced by the redox mediator immobilized on the electrode surface via an electrocatalytic mechanism. The process of reduction and its kinetics were investigated by using cyclic voltammetry, differential pulse voltammetry, chronoamperometry and chronocoulometry techniques. The electrocatalytic ability about 800 mV can be seen. The rate constant of the catalytic reduction of nitrite was found to be 7.9×105 cm3 mol?1 s?1. Linearity range obtained was 5×10?5?8.4×10?3 by cyclic voltammetry and 8×10?6?1.3×10?3 and 4×10?3?2×10?2 by differential pulse voltammetry.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

The rapid electrochemical determination of Aceclofenac (ACF) has been employed by cyclic voltammetry (CV), differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) using developed OH-functionalised multiwalled carbon nanotube carbon paste electrode (OH-MWCNT/CPE). Modified electrode was characterised by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDAX), X-ray diffraction spectroscopy (XRD), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and cyclic voltammetry (CV). The ACF exhibits two oxidation peaks at +0.4 V, +0.66 V and one reduction peak at +0.3 V. The active surface area of the bare carbon paste electrode (BCPE) and modified electrode have been characterised by using K3[Fe(CN)6] solution containing 0.1 M KCl. In DPV mode, variation of ACF gave the limit of detection (LOD = 3s/m) 0.246 μM over the concentration range 1.0 to 190.0 μM (R2 = 0.9994). The developed electrode has good stability, reproducibility and could be successfully validated for the detection of ACF in pharmaceutical samples and biological fluids.  相似文献

The electrooxidation of the antitumour drug 2-methyl-9-hydroxyellipticinium (Celiptium) was investigated by cyclic, differential-pulse and adsorptive voltammetry at carbon paste (CPE) and lipid-modified carbon paste electrodes (LM-CPE). The influence of the paste composition, i.e., the ratio of graphite to binder, was studied in order to elucidate the nature of the accumulation process at the surface of the CPE. The electrode surface coverage at saturation was calculated. A.c. measurements at the CPE and at the LM-CPE during the accumulation of Celiptium demonstrated an increased differential double layer capacity of the LM-CPE. The influence of several parameters that affect the adsorptive step at the CPE was investigated, such as pH, ionic strength and interfering ions. Improved signals were obtained at the CPE and the detection limit in 0.1 M sodium perchlorate (tacc.=3 min) was found to be 2 × 10?10 M. Measurements of the drug in dilute standard serum samples were done using the medium-exchange technique.  相似文献

Sulfonated ormosil hydrogels (~80% water) were prepared using tetramethyl orthosilicate as a silica precursor and 2(4-chlorosulfonylphenyl)ethyltrichlorosilane to provide sulfonate functionality for ion-exchange and ion conductivity. Ruthenium(III) hexamine was used as a redox probe in electrochemical studies performed on porous carbon fibre paper electrodes impregnated with the gel. The gel-modified electrodes extracted Ru(NH3)63+ from solutions in 0.1 M CF3CO2Na(aq) with a partition coefficient of ~36, and with ~100% of the sulfonate sites being accessible for ion exchange. The Ru(NH3)63+/2+ couple exhibited reversible and facile electrochemistry in the gel, with a Ru(NH3)62+ diffusion coefficient of 4.9×10–8 cm2 s–1 determined by chronoamperometry. This is an order of magnitude higher than the mobility of this complex in Nafion. The hydrogel-modified electrodes were stable for days, and could be repeatedly loaded with Ru(NH3)63+.Special Issue to celebrate the 70th birthday of Professor Zbigniew Galus  相似文献

Titanium carbide (TiC) polycrystalline thin films, obtained by a hybrid chemical vapor deposition/powder flowing technique, were characterized and used to assemble working electrodes. The potential window and the electrochemistry of standard redox couples ([Ru(NH3)6]3+, [Fe(CN)6]3?) have been investigated in cyclic voltammetry, demonstrating a behavior similar to glassy carbon electrodes. The quinone (Q)/hydroquinone(H2Q) redox couple presented an interesting quasireversible behavior(Ep=0.07 mV) , confirmed also for other quinones.  相似文献

A new strategy of three‐electrode system fabrication in polymer‐based microfluidic systems is described here. Standard lithography, hot embossing and UV‐assisted thermal bonding were employed for fabrication and assembly of the microfluidic chip. For the electrode design the gold working (WE) and counter electrodes (CE) are placed inside a main channel through which the sample solution passes. A silver reference electrode (RE) is embedded in a small side channel containing KCl solution that is continuously pushed into the main channel. In the present work, the overall electrochemical set up and its microfabrication is described. Conditions including silver ion concentration, cyclic voltammetry (CV) settings, and the flow rate of KCl solution in the RE channel were optimized. The electrochemical performance of the three‐electrode system was evaluated by CV and also by amperometric oxidation of ferro hexacyanide ([Fe(CN)6]4?) and ruthenium bipyridyl ([Ru(bipy)3]2+) at 400 mV and 1200 mV, respectively. CV analysis using ferri/ferro hexacyanide showed a stable, quasi‐reversible redox reaction at the electrodes with 96 mV peak separation and an anodic/cathodic peak ratio of 1. Amperometric analysis of the electrochemical species resulted in linear correlation between analyte concentration and current response in the range of 0.5–15 µM for [Fe(CN)6]4?, and 0–1000 µM for [Ru(bipy)3]2+. Upon the given experimental conditions, the limit of detection was found to be 3.15 µM and 24.83 µM for [Fe(CN)6]4? and [Ru(bipy)3]2+, respectively. As a fully integrated three‐electrode system that is fabricated on polymer substrates, it has great applications in microfluidic‐based systems requiring stable electrochemical detection.  相似文献

Highly boron-doped diamond electrodes are characterized voltammetrically employing Ru(NH3)63+/2+, Fe(CN)63−/4−, benzoquinone/hydroquinone, and cytochrome c redox systems. The diamond electrodes, which are polished to nanometer finish, are initially `activated' electrochemically and then pretreated by oxidation, reduction, or polishing. All electrodes give reversible cyclic voltammetric responses for the reduction of Ru(NH3)63+ in aqueous solution.Redox systems other than Ru(NH3)63+/2+ show characteristic electrochemical behavior as a function of diamond surface pretreatment. In particular, the horse heart cytochrome c redox system is shown to give reversible voltammetric responses at Al2O3 polished boron-doped diamond electrodes. No voltammetric response for cytochrome c is detected at anodically pretreated diamond electrodes. The observations are attributed to preferential interaction of the polished diamond surface with the reactive region of the cytochrome c molecule and low interference due to a lack of protein electrode fouling.  相似文献

The electrocatalytic behaviour of cobalt(III) tetrakis(4-trimethylammoniumphenyl)porphyrin (CoTMAP) and the electroreduction mechanisms of dioxygen and dithiodipropionic acid (PSSP) at glassy carbon electrodes (GCEs) modified with Nafion coatings incorporating CoTMAP and Ru(NH3)63+ have been studied. The experimental results indicate that the catalytic electroreduction of dioxygen using CoTMAP as a catalyst and Ru(NH 3)63+ as a mediator could proceed at the Nafion coating—solution interface regardless of the state of the electrode surface. The catalytic electroreduction of dithiodipropionic acid could not proceed at the Nafion coating—solution interface but only at the GCE—solution interface, suggesting the importance of the adsorption of Co(I)TMAP on the GCE to the catalytic electroreduction of PSSP.  相似文献

Faujasite‐type zeolite films have been grown on glassy carbon electrode surfaces embedded in an epoxy resin matrix by a quasi ambient temperature hydrothermal synthesis. The resulting zeolite modified electrodes are mechanically stable and provide an advantageous combination of electrochemical detection with charge and size selectivities at the molecular level, as demonstrated with the aid of some model electroactive probes or analytes (Ru(NH3)63+, Fe(CN)63?, Ru(bpy)32+, dopamine, ascorbic acid). To act efficiently as a physical molecular sieve barrier between the electrode surface and the external solution, these films must have a thickness of about 0.7 μm. These results open the door for further development of molecular sieving electrochemistry.  相似文献

Composite electrodes were prepared from chemical vapor deposition grown carbon nanofibers consisting predominantly of ca. 100 nm diameter fibers. A hydrophobic sol–gel matrix based on a methyl-trimethoxysilane precursor was employed and composites formed with carbon nanofiber or carbon nanofiber—carbon particle mixtures (carbon ceramic electrode). Scanning electron microscopy images and electrochemical measurements show that the composite materials exhibit high surface area with some degree of electrolyte solution penetration into the electrode. These electrodes were modified with redox probe solution in 2-nitrophenyloctylether. A second type of composite electrode was prepared by simple pasting of carbon nanofibers and the same solution (carbon paste electrode). For both types of electrodes it is shown that high surface area carbon nanofibers dominate the electrode process and enhance voltammetric currents for the transfer of anions at liquid|liquid phase boundaries presumably by extending the triple-phase boundary. Both anion insertion and cation expulsion processes were observed driven by the electro-oxidation of decamethylferrocene within the organic phase. A stronger current response is observed for the more hydrophobic anions like ClO4 or PF6 when compared to that for the more hydrophilic anions like F and SO42−. An ionic liquid N‐hexylpyridinium hexafluorophosphate (HPPF6) modified carbon paste electrode was fabricated for the sensitive voltammetric determination of adenosine in this paper. Carbon ionic liquid electrode (CILE) was prepared by mixing graphite powder and HPPF6 together and the CILE was characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and electrochemical methods. The electrochemical behaviors of adenosine on the CILE were studied carefully. Compared with the traditional carbon paste electrode (CPE), a small negative shift of the oxidation peak potential appeared with greatly increase of the oxidation peak current, which indicated the presence of ionic liquid in the carbon paste not only as the binder but also as the modifier and promoter. Under the optimal conditions the oxidation peak current increased with the adenosine concentration in the range from 1.0×10?6 mol/L to 1.4×10?4 mol/L with the detection limit of 9.1×10?7 mol/L (S/N=3) by differential pulse voltammetry. The proposed method was applied to the human urine samples detection with satisfactory results.  相似文献

A new type of carbon film electrode, composed of a thin layer of tightly packed carbon black (CB) nanoparticles deposited onto a gelatin-covered indium tin oxide/glass support using the surface-induced deposition (SID) approach, is presented. Some parameters of the novel SID method were optimized and the surface image and functionalization of the investigated carbon black film electrode (CBFE) was inspected by employing scanning electron microscopy and infrared spectroscopy. A cyclic voltammetry (CV) study was conducted in which the electron-transfer kinetics and CBFE interfacial characteristics were evaluated employing several selected reference redox systems, such as [Ru(NH3)6]3+/2+, [Fe(CN)6]3−/4− and Fe3+/2+ in aqueous, and ferrocene/ferrocenium in acetonitrile media. CV recordings were also performed in order to compare the electrochemical behavior of the CBFE with that of some well-known and established bare carbon-based electrodes. In order to confirm the validity of the CB film preparation method, the electroanalytical performance of the proposed CBFE was examined by carrying out linear sweep voltammetry of ascorbic acid (AA), anodic stripping square-wave voltammetry of Cu(II) in acidic medium, and amperometric measurements of hydrogen peroxide under flow injection conditions. The sensing characteristics of the novel carbon film electrode, demonstrated in this preliminary study, comprise: (i) a wide working potential window ranging from +1.0 to −1.3 V (depending on the solution pH), (ii) a wide applicable pH range (at least from 2 to 12), (iii) low voltammetric background (<5 μA cm−2), (iv) a satisfactory linear voltammetric and amperometric response (r2 > 0.99) to various analytes, (v) good reproducibility (for example, r.s.d. of 2% in amperometric detection of H2O2 and r.s.d. of 8.5% for electrode-to-electrode CV runs), and (vi) stable and fast current response (at least 100 CV runs with negligible change in CV response). The main advantages of the proposed CBFE originate from the unique CB film formation procedure that enables fast, simple, inexpensive and non-toxic CBFE preparation, which can find application in advanced electrochemical devices and is suitable for mass production.  相似文献

In the present work TiO2 nanotubes (TNT) have been synthesized by alkaline hydrothermal transformation. Then they have been doped with Gd element. Characterizations of doped and undoped TNT have been done with TEM and SEM. The chemical composition was analyzed by EDX, Raman and FTIR spectroscopy. The crystal structure was characterized by XRD. Carbon paste electrode has been fabricated and mixed with Gd doped and undoped TNT to form a nanocomposite working electrode. Comparison of bare carbon paste electrode and Gd doped and undoped TNT carbon paste electrode for 1.0 ×10−3 M K4 [Fe(CN)6] voltammetric analysis; it was observed that Gd doped TNT modified electrode has advantage of high sensitivity. Gd doped TNT modified electrode has been used as working electrode for itopride assay in a pharmaceutical formulation.
